The joys of summer skin: a subtle tan, a glowing complexion and that all-important smattering of sun-kissed freckles.  Freckles are having a moment in the sun, with women who once tried desperately to cover theirs with make-up — or had them lasered off — embracing their natural pigmentation.  Famous freckled faces include Meghan Markle, who ensured her wedding make-up didn’t conceal her ‘favourite feature’. She also says she hates when they are removed in photos, telling one magazine: ‘My pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out.’  Kylie Jenner and Lindsay Lohan are revealing theirs, too.  Thalia Khadi’s inspiration for having freckles tattooed on her face four months ago was her mum. Thalia is mixed race and has a few natural freckles, but wanted more Some have taken it even further, drawing on artificial freckles, with beauty experts claiming they can lend a fresh-faced, youthful look.  And most radical of all, others — like those pictured above — are spending hundreds to have semi-permanent freckles tattooed onto their faces.  RELATED ARTICLES Previous...

Newsmax host Eric Boiling is appealing to Fox News' Tucker Carlson to refrain from circulating Russian propaganda during his news segments. During Boiling's Tuesday broadcast, he insisted that Carlson has gone too far with his support of Russian President Vladamir Putin and the invasion of Ukraine, per HuffPost. “My compadre continues to push falsehoods that Putin and his propagandists are exploiting to show that, yes, some Americans do indeed side with Russia in this war,” Bolling said. “Is that the side of history ... you want to be on?” he said as he addressed the Fox News primetime host. “There are far too many wars right here in our own country.” While he did agree with the conservative host's sentiment that “most Americans don’t want to get further involved in Ukraine,” he also noted that it is possible to argue that point without publicly siding with Putin. “But isn’t it possible to make that point without seeming to be on Putin’s side?” he asked. Boiling's latest appeal to his former Fox News colleague comes after weeks of Carlson's...
For the second time in as many weeks, Newsmax TV host Eric Bolling pleaded with Tucker Carlson Tuesday to stop allowing the Kremlin to use him in its war against Ukraine. On April 6, Bolling noted Carlson is being used by Russian state media outlets to spread disinformation about the invasion. The host’s nightly monologues have been disseminated across state-run TV in Russia. Bolling said Russians see Carlson “as their ally,” and referred to him as “the guy across the ocean who’s helping their cause.” “Now is the time to come down from the ivory tower, time to speak out against past comments, current comments even, or actions that in any way show support for Russia — or can be used by Russia in a way to show that any of us support what they’re doing there,” Bolling said to a fellow conservative. Two weeks have gone by, and Russian troops have continued to massacre Ukrainian civilians and encroach on sovereign territory. Meanwhile, Carlson has continued to portray the crisis at the country’s border with Mexico as the one Americans should be...

New York Times columnist Tom Friedman spoke candidly Wednesday night about why he believed Democrats were struggling in election campaigns in states like Arizona and Virginia.  "The party has gone too far to the left for this country that is still center-right and center-left," Friedman said during an appearance with CNN host Anderson Cooper. For example, Friedman said, the death of George Floyd in police custody in May 2020 captured the attention of the public for a need to make real changes in policing throughout the U.S.  – but he claimed progressive Democrats squandered the opportunity by proposing ideas that the public rejected. HANNITY: US IN A ‘DANGEROUS STATE OF DECLINE’ UNDER BIDEN "They were really open for a both-ends solution -- both better policing and more policing in neighborhoods that are really suffering from terrible gun violence," Friedman said about American public opinion. "And what did the progressives offer first? Defund the police and delegitimize police," Friedman continued. "What a wasted moment. The country was ready for a both-ends civil rights movement and it was squandered. I’m sorry." Friedman...

The destruction of large swath of the gold rush town of Greenville as the Dixie fire swept through left residents stunned Thursday and mourning all that has been lost. Kevin Goss, a Plumas County supervisor, lives outside of Greenville, in Taylorsville, but has had a pharmacy in town since 1988. The pharmacy was the oldest building in town and dated back to 1860. On Thursday, Goss said residents and business owners were doing damage assessment. Because the fire is still active, no one is getting near Greenville. “My pharmacy is gone, I know that,” said Goss, who said he was in escrow to sell it to another pharmacy. “The whole historic downtown area is gone.” The feeling among community members, he said, is “shock. Just shock.” He estimates the town’s population at about 1,200 people. Goss said a mandatory evacuation order had been lifted on Tuesday and that people “were just repopulating Greenville when this thing just broke loose.” Battalion Chief Sergio Mora is part of the force fighting the Dixie fire in Greenville, Calif.(Noah Berger / Associated Press)...

'I have had to wash cooked sausages so they don't shine,' one mum laughed.  'I've had to wash pasta sauce off pasta,' said another.  Parents have revealed the extraordinary lengths they have gone to so their children will eat their dinner including de-seeding a hamburger bun 'Last night, I thought I would be clever and cut the crust off the sandwich for my eldest because he doesn’t eat crusts, EVER. He had a melt down because his crusts weren’t there. Moral of the story, I am never going to win,' one mum wrote.   Another mum said said she has lost count of her kids' food quirks but fears she will be...

Restaurant servers have shared details of the most awkward dates they've observed at their jobs — and just reading them is enough to make anyone cringe. Reddit user u/Username-Checks-Outt posed the question — 'Servers of Reddit, what’s the most awkward date you’ve seen unfold?' — two years ago, and the thread has recently resurfaced on BuzzFeed. The prompt earned thousands of comments, with one recalling a couple that broke up at the beginning of a meal — but continued to eat — and another detailing the time two cheating spouses brought their extramarital partners to the same restaurant at the same time. Read our coronavirus live blog for the latest news & updates... 2Autism cases have been missed due to a “worrying” error in guidelinesCredit: Alamy Experts say it is extremely important for autism to be diagnosed because without a diagnosis, life can be difficult, distressing and bewildering. Autism is a condition that can affect people’s social interactions and behaviour. It typically appears in early childhood, with parents noticing their kid struggles to make friends or are anxious, for example. But sometimes adults may slip through the net and never get a diagnosis of the lifelong disability. When a person is assessed for autism by their GP, doctors use the Autism Spectrum Quotient.  Otherwise known as the "AQ-10", it includes ten statements such as “I find it difficult to work out people’s intentions”. Patients agree or disagree with the statements and are then given a score. The test is universal, and is a gateway for further...

A lot has happened over the past year, so you can be forgiven for not having a clear memory of what some of the major concerns were at the beginning of the pandemic. However, if you think back to the beginning of the pandemic, one of the major concerns was the role that surfaces played in the transmission of the virus. As an epidemiologist, I remember spending countless hours responding to media requests answering questions along the lines of whether we should be washing the outside of food cans or disinfecting our mail. I also remember seeing teams of people walking the streets at all hours wiping down poles and cleaning public benches. But what does the evidence actually say about surface transmission more than 12 months into this pandemic? Before addressing this, we need to define the question we’re asking. The key question isn’t whether surface transmission is possible, or whether it can occur in the real world—it almost certainly can. The real question is: what is the extent of the role of surface contact in the transmission of...

But Sunday was not his finest moment as he twice played it safe against the most dangerous offense in football. On Tuesday, he explained his reasoning in a season-ending news conference with beat reporters. He has second thoughts. But he also has his reasons for not going for a touchdown on fourth down.First FG was for ‘morale’The first questionable decision arrived at the end of the first half with the Bills trailing, 21-9. Buffalo faced fourth-and-goal at the 2-yard line with 11 seconds remaining. McDermott opted to kick a field goal instead of going for a short touchdown...

However, that doesn’t mean their memory won’t live on. Whether we’re watching the works they’ve already brought to life, or are reading their autobiographies, or even just reminiscing in our favorite photos of them on social media, the memories of these stars will live on for many decades to come. Harry Styles is a 26-year-old singer-songwriter and budding fashion icon. Joe Maher/Getty Images for Bauer Media Harry Styles has become the first non-female cover star in Vogue's 128-year history. For his cover shoot, photographed by Tyler Mitchell, Styles wears a variety of dresses and stereotypically feminine clothing. While many praised Styles for "openly flouting gendered fashion norms," Vogue also received backlash for centering a white, cisgender man in a movement largely founded by transgender people of color — especially when those very people are more often shunned than celebrated. "Do I think this is a sign of progress of society's evolution away from binary gender? Yes. Do I think that white men should be upheld as the face of gender neutral fashion? No," wrote Alok Vaid-Menon, a gender non-conforming writer and performance artist. "Make no mistake: trans femmes of color started this and continue to face the backlash from it. Our aesthetics make it to the mainstream, but not our bodies." Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Harry Styles is Vogue's December cover star, a selection...

Fox News’ viewership rocketed above the NBA’s earlier this week, sparking debate over whether the sports league’s increasing embrace of social justice messaging is turning off fans. Outkick founder Clay Travis pointed out the stark difference between the number of people who tuned in to Fox News to watch hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham on Tuesday instead of the NBA. “Head to head on Monday night on cable: Tucker Carlson viewership: 4.5 million. Lakers-Nuggets viewership: 1.5 million. Head-to-head on Tuesday night: Sean Hannity: 4.6 million, Blazers-Mavs: 930k. Yikes, NBA,” Travis tweeted, citing data from Show Buzz Daily. LOCKDOWN has brought out the worst behaviour in some people. We are seeing hideous, hellish sights in parks and on beaches across the country. 3If a place looks like a dump, people start treating it like that Beauty spots have been made into ugly spots by the selfish actions of certain visitors: Litter strewn across the sand, “hippie crack” canisters scattered over public spaces, even human waste dumped in our streets. What has become of us? We’ve gone feral. It wasn’t that long ago we were heading to Costa clutching our reusable coffee cups with pride and packing our groceries into our “bags for life”. We were horrified when David Attenborough showed us footage of a turtle tangled up in plastic that had found its way into the ocean. We dutifully sorted our trash into recycling bins and shunned plastic straws. Now it is like a boil has burst. People have been repressed for so long during lockdown that, now they are free to go out again, they have forgotten how to behave. They see others leave their rubbish and...
New York (CNN Business)Piers Morgan's live interview with Rudy Giuliani on Thursday devolved into a heated argument, that at times turned very personal, on ITV's "Good Morning Britain." Both men have been strong supporters of President Donald Trump: Morgan often writes favorable op-eds about Trump. Giuliani is the president's personal lawyer. But their views diverged Thursday. The interview went south four minutes into the 13-minute long interview when Morgan asked Giuliani about Trump's "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" tweet in reference to the nationwide protests against police brutality. (The controversial tweet was hidden by Twitter for violating its rules against glorifying violence.)Morgan pushed Giuliani to explain why Trump used the quote, to which an increasingly agitated Giuliani replied: "It isn't inflammatory, it's accurate.""You sound completely barking mad," Morgan said. "You've lost the plot."Read MoreGiuliani then turned the argument more personal, saying he "really" knows why Morgan's former CNN show was cancelled with a phrase that sounded like either "f---ed up" or "sucked up." Giuliani later in the interview denied he used profanity, but wouldn't say what word he used...
