Getty Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. underwent thumb surgery ahead of the team's season opener against the Packers on September 11. After missing the entire 2021 season due to injury, Irv Smith Jr. gave Minnesota Vikings fans a scare when he left practice with a trainer momentarily on Monday. He returned to the sidelines without a helmet later that day, but his absence from drills was warranted. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told local media on August 2 that Smith suffered a thumb injury at practice the previous day and underwent surgery. The sort-of good news? He hasn’t been ruled out for the season opener against the Green Bay Packers on September 11 — less than six weeks away. “The best move moving forward to fix that thing,” O’Connell said in a brief statement on Tuesday, August 2. “He had surgery today. With that being the decision, we really have a focus on that opener. We still feel very strongly about our process to get him back and hopefully have him, barring any setbacks, having him available...

For Minnesota Vikings fans hoping the team moves on from quarterback Kirk Cousins in 2022 may need to pump the brakes. The Minnesota Vikings were in need of a new general manager after they fired Rick Spielman after the season. They found their guy this week, as they hired former Cleveland Browns vice president of football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. As has been the case ever since Vikings ownership parted ways with Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer after failing to make the playoffs, all eyes were on whether they would move on from quarterback Kirk Cousins. One Twitter user points out that fans should pump the brakes, considering Cousins does have analytics working in his favor. Some #Vikings fans are excited by the Kwesi hire because he’s an analytics guy yet want to see Cousins gone. I hate to break it to you but that’s now extremely unlikely. Cousins maybe the poster boy for NFL analytics…. — Jump-Ball James (@hardys_on) January 28, 2022 New GM hire does not mean Vikings will move on from Kirk Cousins in 2022 Cousins may...
As the NFL begins a new cycle of firing and hiring this month, we’re tracking all of the latest moves. Monday The Chicago Bears fired general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy. The scoop: Pace is out in Chicago after seven seasons in which his teams went 48-65, qualified for the postseason twice and failed to record a playoff victory. In his first NFL head coaching stint, Nagy finished 34-31 with two playoff losses over four seasons. The Bears never found the right fit between Nagy and a quarterback during his tenure with Pace, running through Mitch Trubisky, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton and Justin Fields. Nagy’s offense remained stuck in the bottom third of the league in many categories. The Bears finished 6-11 this season. The Minnesota Vikings fired general manager Rick Spielman and coach Mike Zimmer The scoop: Spielman was with the Vikings since 2006, first as the vice president of player personnel and then as the general manager since 2012. In that time, the Vikings went 132-123-2 with six playoff appearances. ...
Getty Kirk Cousins drew scrutiny around the NFL after the unvaccinated QB tested positive for COVID-19. Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins caught COVID-19 at the worse time. Approaching a pivotal road matchup on primetime against the Green Bay Packers, the Vikings (7-8) need a win to keep their playoff chances alive after a season-long tug-of-war with mediocrity. The offense has kept the team afloat for weeks, but following Friday’s news that Cousins will be out for Sunday’s game due to COVID-19, it seems Minnesota’s postseason ambitions are two days from being dashed with the betting line shifting from -6.5 to -13.0 in favor of the NFC North champion Packers (12-3), per FanDuel. Getty The Vikings signed Damion Ratley (left) and Darrius Shepherd on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. The Minnesota Vikings offense is already missing Adam Thielen, who’s currently ailing from a high-ankle sprain and is considered week-to-week. But a recent COVID-19 scourge has hit the offense’s depth with backup running back Alexander Mattison and wide receivers Dede Westbrook and Dan Chisena placed on the team’s COVID-19 reserve list. Minnesota signed veteran receivers Damion Ratley, a fourth-year veteran and Darrius Shepherd, in his third season, to the practice squad on Wednesday to alleviate the team’s lack of depth at the moment. The Vikings currently have three healthy wide receivers on the active roster in Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn and fourth-round rookie Ihimir Smith-Marsette. Getty Adam Thielen was ruled out of Thursday's primetime matchup with the Steelers but could return this season, per Star Tribune reporter Ben Goessling. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen suffered an ankle injury that held him out of most of the Vikings’ 29-27 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. With only four days to recover before Minnesota hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football, Thielen being active for this week’s game was a long shot. He was ruled out for Thursday’s matchup, per a team injury report on Wednesday. Getty NFL insiders are doubtful Adam Thielen will be healthy in time for the Vikings' Thursday Night Football matchup with the Steelers. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen exited the team’s 29-27 loss to the Detroit Lions with an ankle injury he sustained in the first quarter. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Thielen suffered a high ankle sprain and that it may not be a matter of if Thielen will miss time, but “how much time he’ll miss.” “Vikings’ WR Adam Thielen suffered a high ankle sprain during today’s loss at Detroit, per source. He will undergo further testing Monday to determine how much time he’ll miss,” Schefter tweeted Sunday night. Inside the Vikings’ Will Ragatz, replying to Schefter’s report, projected that Thielen and Dalvin Cook, who sat out in Week 13 with a shoulder injury, are both unlikely to be ready in time for Thursday’s primetime matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Safe to say the Vikings will be without both Thielen and Dalvin Cook on Thursday night,” Ragatz tweeted. A medical expert corroborated several NFL insider reports...
The Minnesota Vikings will have to try and take down the Detroit Lions without star wideout Adam Thielen out on the field due to injury.  Things just haven’t been going according to plan for the Minnesota Vikings going up against the winless Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings were expected to go in and dominate, but the opposite has been the case in this one. To make matters worse for Minnesota, the Vikings won’t have superstar wideout Adam Thielen out on the field for the second half. Thielen went down with an ankle injury and while he was originally questionable to return, that won’t be happening. #Vikings have now ruled out WR Adam Thielen (ankle) for the rest of todays game. They are down 20-6 at the half to the winless Lions. — Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) December 5, 2021 Adam Thielen ruled out with an ankle injury for the Vikings This is a major blow for the Vikings and quarterback Kirk Cousins. Virtually no one expected the Lions to dominate the Vikings in the first half of their battle and take a...
Courtesy of Vikings Kene Nwangwu was activated to the Vikings' 53-man roster after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. It has been a rough week for the Minnesota Vikings‘ backfield. First, starting running back Dalvin Cook suffered a torn labrum Sunday, November 28 against the San Francisco 49ers in a game the Vikings went on to lose. The team kept Cook off the injured reserve list (IR), hopeful that he will miss just two games and can return against the Chicago Bears in Week 15. A trip to the IR is a guarantee of at least three contests on the sidelines. Minnesota offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was confident he could rely on the Vikings’ duo of backup rushers, Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu, when he spoke with media members earlier this week. “There’s some things that we’ll have to change and some little tweaks here and there, but I’ve got full confidence in Alexander, and Kene’s going to get some opportunities,” Kubiak said. “(C.J. Ham) always is ready to go even at halfback. I think earlier in...
While the Vikings gave a grim Dalvin Cook shoulder injury update, it’s not all bad news.  When Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was carted away from Sunday’s game against the 49ers, fans expected the worse. Indeed the news on Cook’s injury isn’t good, as NFL Network is reporting the Vikings star tore his labrum after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday’s loss. It’s not all bad news, however. According to Ian Rapoport, there’s hope that Cook will return before the end of the season and may end up missing only a handful of weeks. “Dalvin Cook tore his labrum while dislocating his shoulder yesterday, sources said the MRI revealed. But the ailment is not season-ending. The hope is this is like 2019, when the team rests Cook a few games to have him healthy for a playoff run,” Rapoport reported. With the Vikings on the playoff bubble but clinging to life, there’s a bittersweet sense of relief that things didn’t go as poorly as they initially seemed.
The Green Bay Packers keep getting bad news following their loss to the Minnesota Vikings. This time it involves Aaron Rodgers.  While the Green Bay Packers aren’t doomed and their season is far from over after their recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings, they continue getting bad news following Sunday afternoon’s 34-31 road defeat. Things don’t exactly look promising with Elgton Jenkins’ injury and now star quarterback Aaron Rodgers opened up about the toe injury he suffered against the Vikings. While this particular injury isn’t so sever that it could end his season, there’s a good chance he’ll still be impacted by it. According to a tweet from Bill Huber, Rodgers explained that the injury caused “a lot of pain” and that it’s “worse than turf toe.” Rodgers said he was in a lot of pain at halftime. Its worse than turf toe, he said. Got stepped on in first half. Wont practice much this week. — Bill Huber (@BillHuberSI) November 21, 2021 Packers fans won’t be thrilled about that.Aaron Rodgers injury update: Will Packers QB miss games? Again, there’s...
If the Minnesota Vikings are looking for some salary cap relief, Anthony Barr isn’t the person to ask for help.  Among the many pressing questions the Minnesota Vikings need to answer this offseason, the one about Anthony Barr’s future looms large. Barr will be a $15 million crater in the Vikings books this year, unless he and the team can agree to restructure his contract. According to Darren Wolfson from KSTP in Minneapolis, that’s not something Barr is interested in doing. “I feel confident in saying this, that I hear Anthony Barr is anti-any sort of restructure. He’s got a big [cap] number,” Wolfson said on his podcast. “Could they extend him, is there a way to do that? Maybe. But I am told he is not interested in a restructure.” This isn’t the first time Barr and the Vikings have had some contractual drama. Back in 2019, Barr looked all but certain to leave Minnesota to sign with the New York Jets when he decided in the 11th hour to return to the Vikings. Things got so far down...

Editorial: Gaming / Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Instagram / News / Discord / Forums Valheim is turning out to be another one of 2020’s big surprises, becoming a massive hit in its early days on the market. Unfortunately not everything has been honey on flakes in this premiere, since there is a bug that could leave you without progress. Iron Gate Studio, Valheim developer studio, asked its community to back up its save data. What happens is that the bug “destroyer of worlds” is running “free in the game.” It is a bug that could corrupt your save data and thus make you lose your progress. As you can imagine, Iron Gate Studio is already working on finding a solution that will end this annoying error. That said, they haven’t even managed to replicate it, so the solution is likely to take a long time to arrive. Of course, they have recommendations that could help you avoid the world-destroying bug. “It is an evil bug, and we have not yet managed to replicate it, even once. It seems...
The mystical figure of the Viking, a warrior full of fury and bloodlust, willing to die in battle while wielding his weapon for the promise that he will live forever to fight alongside his gods during the end of the world, is powerful and romantic. This fantasy-tinged image has gained a growing legion of followers around the world. This has caused that today we see a growing number of representations in film and television of the exploits of these warriors, merchants and sailors; of course, video games are no exception. Vikings wide receivers have a great track record when it comes to being voted Sporting News’ NFL Rookie of the Year. Justin Jefferson, Minnesota’s steal of a No. 22 overall pick in the 2020 draft, is the latest to join the club.  Percy Harvin (2009) was the most recent Vikings winner at the position before Jefferson. When the award was still handed out by conference, Paul Flatley (1963) and Sammy White (1976) were the first two wideouts honored. Getty Second-year linebacker Cameron Smith requires open-heart surgery and will miss the 2020 season. Vikings linebacker Cameron Smith was added to the COVID-19 reserve list last week and announced devastating news on Saturday regarding his status for the 2020 season. Smith posted on Instagram that he needs open-heart surgery after doctors discovered he has a severely enlarged heart due to a bicuspid aortic valve, a condition he was born with. The good fortune is Smith was prompted for further testing on his heart after testing positive for coronavirus, possibly avoiding a future accident had he not. Here’s what he wrote: Earlier this week I found out I need open heart surgery to fix a bicuspid aortic valve that I was born with. Although this will unfortunately end my 2020 season, it is really a blessing that we found this as my heart is severely enlarged and wouldn’t have lasted much longer. Getty The Vikings may be close to extending coach Mike Zimmer's contract. The Minnesota Vikings offseason has been marred with loss after the team underwent mass exodus, releasing seven starters who have become household names under Mike Zimmer’s reign as head coach. There was even speculation that Zimmer, the third-winningest coach in Vikings history, may be out the door as he enters the final year of his current contract. But now, Zimmer’s future with the Vikings looks clear. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who has many ties to the Vikings since he started at KFAN sports radio in 2003, tweeted that the Vikings “are finalizing a multi-year contract extension with coach Mike Zimmer, per sources.” Zimmer, 64, has a 57-38-1 record since he took over as head coach of the Vikings in 2014.
