A retired Russian general has urged Vladimir Putin to send nuclear weapons to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad after EU-sanctioned goods were blocked from reaching the territory by Lithuania. The President's spokesman also weighed in, warning Moscow will never trust the West again following the move.  Lt-Gen Evgeny Buzhinsky told Russian state TV that the West is playing with fire after deliveries of coal, metals, construction materials and advanced technology were stopped from entering the Russian territory via NATO state Lithuania. McConnell and Cornyn sentencing more Americans to violent gun deaths. It took a week for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to really say anything of substance about the massacre of 4th graders and their teachers at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas last month. What he said was of course not substantive, but he did acknowledge that lawmakers do have some responsibility and passed that responsibility to his trusty accomplice, Texas Sen. John Cornyn. McConnell also laid down a marker for what he would allow in a bill, and it wasn’t anything about guns. “[W]e might be able to come together,” he said “to target the problem, mental illness and school safety.” With that, the “Cornyn Con” on guns began. America’s Voice coined the ploy to describe Cornyn’s role in scuttling real immigration reform. “What’s the Cornyn Con? IF you have a little one who loves to help by preparing their own breakfast cereal of a morning, then you know the feeling that comes with watching them struggle with the milk. (CNN)With declining rates of Covid-19 infections and deaths across the US, more cities and states have lifted safety restrictions in anticipation of a better summer. But officials continue to warn that those unvaccinated remain vulnerable to the virus, especially to dangerous variants which could set back national progress against the pandemic if they become more widespread.Nationwide, 64% of adults have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and about 53% are fully vaccinated, yet the Biden administration's goal of 70% of adults with at least one dose of vaccine by July 4 will fall short at the current pace. More than a dozen states have hit that goal as of this week, according to the CDC. Interactive: Tracking Covid-19 vaccinations in the US Barriers to access along economic lines, vaccine hesitancy and misinformation have been cited as contributing factors to a slowing of vaccination rates in the US from earlier highs."This kind of doubting the safety of vaccines, doubting the necessity of vaccines ... it is very, very dangerous, and a lot of people are hearing this,"...

This week, UNRWA Deputy Commissioner Leni Stenseth actually thanked Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar “for his positivity and desire to continue cooperation” with UNRWA, according to a statement from the terror group translated by HonestReporting. She also “affirmed her solidarity” and “offered condolences” on behalf of her agency for what Palestinians lost “in this latest Israeli aggression.” Israeli aggression? There’s absolutely no question that Hamas and its allied terror groups started the fight by firing rockets into Israel, aiming to slaughter civilians. “Cooperating” with Hamas, meanwhile, is par for the course for UNRWA, which in the past has turned a blind eye as the...
CHEESE graters are notoriously difficult to clean - bits of sponge get ripped off by the blades, tiny pieces of food get lodged in the holes, and you always have to watch your fingers. But Tiktok user @kanisrezepte has found a way for you to grate to your heart’s content without the annoying wash-up ordeal. 3You just need a zip-lock bagCredit: kanisrezepte / Tiktok In the video, which has over 3 million views, the hack clearly shows that you can use a cheese grater while keeping it perfectly clean. All you need to do is grab a sturdy zip-lock bag and place it on top of your grater. Then, when you run your food along the plastic-covered utensil, the blades will be prominent enough to cut the food without actually touching the grater itself. This way, you get the same end-result, but your grater doesn’t need to be washed afterwards. 3Place the bag over the grater, and grate as normalCredit: kanisrezepte / Tiktok Using a piece of garlic, the Tiktok user demonstrates that this hack works perfectly. Despite a media blitz, with appearances on CBS, Jimmy Kimmel, CNN and the BBC, the book was not a hit - ranking 12th in its first week in the non-fiction hardcover list category. Yet Biden said he was considering a sequel. Speaking to The Telegraph's Bryony Gordon, for the Mad World podcast, Biden was asked about how his wife Melissa Cohen, a South African filmmaker, had saved him. Last week I wrote that Apple seemed “astonishingly confident” in its new M1-based Macs. This week we know why: they are astonishingly good. I reviewed the MacBook Air, Nilay Patel reviewed the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Chris Welch reviewed the new Mac mini. All three are equally impressive, but it’s the Air in particular that stands out as offering incredible power at its price point. I’m also impressed with battery life. And the fact that Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation layer doesn’t cause slowdown or bugs for legacy apps. Wins all around, then. Not very often that happens in consumer tech! The webcams are still terrible and there are lots of questions about what will happen with the truly pro Macs we will start seeing in the next couple of years. But rather than constantly look ahead to the next thing, just for a moment, enjoy: a tech company made a big promise that it could do a hard thing and then did that thing. Okay, moment’s over. Sorry. I want to pay a little more attention to...

In CA: Biden chooses Harris, layoffs in media and new COVID-19 numbers Outdoor dining may save restaurants during COVID-19. But are diners at risk from cars plowing into them? On Fox News, Lou Holtz again compared college football to “when they stormed Normandy,” which happened when he was seven Back in early July, Lou Holtz went on Fox News to complain about the Big Ten cancelling out-of-conference games, saying “People stormed Normandy.” Holtz, a former college football coach and former ESPN CFB commentator (he left that role in 2015, but went on to some other media roles and quite a few political commentary spots), was roundly roasted for those comments at the time, but that apparently didn’t reduce his interest in political commentary, and it didn’t reduce Fox News’ interest in booking him. On Tuesday, after the news of the Big Ten postponing their fall season (which would be shortly followed by the Pac-12), Holtz again went on Fox News, and he again brought up the D-Day comparisons: © Provided by Awful Announcing Lou Holtz discussing the Big Ten...

The entire situation is appalling. Female reporters and team employees propositioned by men in the building and the men pressing even when they’ve been told no; lewd behavior like staring up women’s skirts through a plexiglass stairwell; demands that women show off their bodies to sell expensive suites for a perennially underperforming team; comments that imply that a woman’s value is tied to her breast size; and women being forced into bathrooms to cry together and commiserate...
