Controversial actor Armie Hammer's aunt says she 'wasn't shocked' to hear multiple women accusing him of rape and violent assault, suggesting that the 36-year-old was destined to become a 'monster' because 'abuse' was 'a way of life' in his family.  Casey Hammer, 62, aired several shocking claims about her family's years-long history of violence in a new interview with The Daily Beast, alleging that she was subjected to 'abuse' at the hands of her male relatives for years during childhood.  'I wasn’t shocked when the allegations came forward,' she said. 'Based on my experiences in my family, I suffered from abuse. It was just a way of life.' Casey, who is the granddaughter of late oil tycoon Armand Hammer and the sister of Armie's father, suggested that witnessing this kind of behavior from other men in the family led Armie to follow the same path.   'You don’t wake up one day and become a monster — it’s learned behavior,' she said. 'Once [the allegations] started unfolding, I was like, here we go, another Hammer man and something that’s being said...

Danielle Jurinsky, from Colorado, said her heart dropped when she received an eerie call from child protective services on January 29 informing her she was under investigation for sexually abusing her son.  The 38-year-old, Aurora City councilwoman and restaurant owner, began to weep at the gruesome allegation - especially considering she had no idea who had filed it.  'I was begging and pleading with her that I love my son so much,' Jurinsky told DailyMail.com. 'I love my son more than anything in this world.'  At the time, Jurinsky had no clue the person accusing her was Araphoe County child- protective worker, Robin Niceta, 41.  The mother is now spearheading a $1million 40-person class action lawsuit against the worker - who she claims removed dozens of children from their families because of personal vendettas she had against their mothers.  Some were reported to services and had their children taken away...

A former titan of the fashion industry - who was once wed to Linda Evangelista - for years ran a sordid sex ring from within his multinational modelling agency, it is claimed - where he allegedly raped more than a dozen models as young as 14.    French modelling agent Gerald Marie allegedly engaged in the misconduct while serving as European chief of Elite Model Management in the 80s and 90s - a tenure that saw him become one of the most powerful men in the industry.  During that time, Marie allegedly raped at least 13 Elite models - reportedly targeting younger women because he though that 'virgins were not photogenic,' a former staffer said. Marie, now 72, also kept tabs on the models he and others had slept with, the whistleblower said, grading them on a points-based system, according to their ages and whether or not they were virgins. He denies all allegations made against him.   Accusers also say the Frenchman would ply his victims with a daily stipend of cocaine to keep them thin while engaging in the abuse - with one...

Wednesday night, with the host expressing frustration on Washington being unable to solve a bevvy of issues like gun violence, abortion and climate change.    Kimmel began his interview asking Biden 'why haven't we dont anything about this?' pointing to the recent string of mass shootings.  'This is not your father's Republican Party,' the president replied - a favorite phrase he's been using recently in front of political donors.   The president blamed his political opposition for being too afraid to do anything about guns because they fear primary election challenges. Kimmel pressed Biden on whether he could use executive orders to increase gun control, noting that former President Donald Trump 'passed them out like Halloween candy.' Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are officially back in court. Depp’s long-delayed $50 million defamation trial against his ex-wife began in Virginia on Tuesday, three years after he sued Heard over an 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described being a domestic violence survivor. While the piece did not mention Depp by name, the 58-year-old actor alleges that the piece clearly referred to their relationship—which ended in 2016—and has since “devastated” his career. “Today, his name is associated with a lie. A statement issued by his former wife,” Depp’s attorney Ben Chew said during opening statements on Tuesday. “You will learn during the trial that Miss Heard's accusations were prompted by Mr. Depp’s request for a divorce.” The highly anticipated trial comes after years of legal sparring between the famous actors, who met on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diaries and married in 2015. In various court documents and testimony during their ongoing court battles, Depp and Heard have revealed lurid details about their one-year marriage, with the 36-year-old actress claiming Depp...

Scott Peterson was back in court Monday for his retrial hearing to overturn his conviction in the sordid slaying of his pregnant wife 20 years ago, as his defense team argued a juror was not impartial because she allegedly failed to disclose domestic abuse at his first trial.  Lawyers on Monday completed their questioning of former juror Richelle Nice who testified that she did not intentionally lie on the jury questionnaire about being the victim of a crime.   'I did not do it intentionally. I don't consider myself a victim. I've been in many fights,' Nice testified. Nice, dubbed 'Strawberry Shortcake' because of her dyed red hair, was among the 12 jurors who found Peterson guilty of killing his pregnant wife, Laci.  Peterson, 49, was convicted in 2004 of killing Laci and their unborn son, who the couple planned to name Conner. He has long maintained his innocence. Attorney Pat Harris, said it was impossible for Nice to be unbiased in Peterson's case because she was the victim of domestic violence while pregnant, like Laci.  Nice was once granted a restraining...
COVID-19 deaths are up eighteen percent but U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is calling for a nationwide moratorium on mask-wearing for children, even calling the practice to protect both the child and those they come in contact with, "child abuse." She warns, "they're going to be future voters and they are sick and tired of being forced to wear masks." "I'd like to talk about how children feel about mask," an apparently out-of breath Rep. Greene (R-GA), said in a speech on the House floor Monday. "You see, while they're watching television, seeing Super Bowl games where adults are filled, filling stadiums without mask and enjoying themselves while they see concerts happen. They see people go to work, they see adults going many places all over this country without mask." The Super Bowl is next Sunday. Children, Greene says, "are forced to wear masks every single day at school. And it's wrong. Actually, it's child abuse," she concludes, falsely. "Now I know that sounds like strong words, but it really is because children are not at risk of COVID-19,"...

The woman accusing Michigan's former House Speaker of repeatedly raping her for more than a decade admits she initiated contact with her alleged attacker - but says she only did so because she was 'brainwashed' and 'groomed' by the ex-lawmaker. Rebekah Chatfield, 26, came forward last week to detail her ordeal after filing the criminal complaint against Lee Chatfield last month. In the criminal filing, she accused Michigan's youngest House speaker in more than a century of sexually assaulting her multiple times while she attended Northern Michigan Christian Academy, which was run by his family.  Rebekah - who claims the abuse began when she was 15 - conceded in an interview with Bridge Michigan that she at times reached out to Chatfield, but claimed she was under his spell during the time. 'It was never consensual, because it started when I was a minor - the brainwashing, the mentality, the manipulation, the psychological, the emotional - he groomed me into being who he wanted me to be,' she told the outlet.   Chatfield, 33, was elected in 2014 and served as the...
SAN FRANCISCO — A Bay Area man was sentenced Wednesday to 12-and-a-half years in federal prison for taking explicit pictures and video of a girl he sexually abused for months, even after he was arrested of suspicion of sexually assaulting, court records show. Demarco Shaw, 39, faced a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in February 2021 to child enticement and possession of child pornography. At Shaw’s Wednesday morning sentencing hearing, federal prosecutors convinced U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer to abandon his initial view that the decade-long term was sufficient, citing evidence of domestic violence as well as a powerful impact statement from the victim. The impact statement was read aloud in court by the girl’s attorney, who said the victim would have been too upset to show up to court herself. In it, the girl called Shaw “the evil, selfish, crazy man who groomed me.” “My life is not normal because of you. You hurt me, you beat me, and you made me feel like I was nothing…no kid should have to go through what...
Prince Andrew's lawyers have asked a judge to throw out a sex abuse complaint from Virginia Giuffre, claiming that it is 'unconstitutional under New York law'. Giuffre, aged 38 and 17 at the time of the alleged abuse, claims she was forced to have sex with Andrew, 61, on three occasions in 2001, when he was aged 30. Lawyers for the Duke, who has consistently and vehemently denied her claims, have now contended the law which the case was filed under - the New York's Child Victims Act - is unconstitutional. They are scheduled to argue for a dismissal of the lawsuit at a hearing before Judge Kaplan in Manhattan on January 4, 2022. It comes shortly after the Duke was seen sharing a joke and laughing while on a horse ride with two friends in the grounds of Windsor Castle yesterday.  Prince Andrew shared a joke and laughed on his latest pony ride in Windsor yesterday while his lawyers prepare for a dismissal of the lawsuit at a hearing in Manhattan on January 4, 2022 The Duke of York was pictured breaking...
ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) — Pope Francis said Monday he accepted the resignation of the archbishop of Paris because the monsignor could no longer govern effectively thanks to the “gossip” about his relationship with a woman a decade ago. Francis was asked en route home from Greece about the surprise decision, which came only days after Archbishop Michel Aupetit put his fate in Francis’ hands following French media reports about what he said was an “ambiguous” relationship with a woman. French media reports also cited governance problems as a possible reason underlying Francis’ decision. Responding to a question from a French reporter, Francis said there had been some “lapses” with Aupetit involving sexual sins. But he said they weren’t even that serious and only involved “some caresses and massages.” He added, that regardless, everyone is a sinner, including the pope himself. But Francis said the comments that had ensued made it impossible for Aupetit to continue governing effectively. “We’re all sinners. When the gossip grows and grows and removes someone’s good name, he cannot govern,” Francis said. “This is...

Sheltering Prince Andrew at Balmoral and 'privately funding his fight against US sex abuse lawsuit' is damaging the Queen's image, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke of York, 61, is being sued in New York by Virginia Giuffre, now 38, who claims he sexually abused her on three separate occasions when she was 17 — in London, New York and on billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein's Caribbean island.  Andrew, the Queen's second son, who is not facing any criminal charges, 'categorically' denies Ms Giuffre's allegations against him. The royal, who is now back at his 30-room mansion at Royal Lodge in Windsor, had spent three weeks at Balmoral with his mother and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, allegedly to avoid having papers notifying him about the bombshell sex case. Her Majesty, 95, also agreed to pay for the duke's legal defence last year shortly after his disastrous interview on BBC Newsnight, according to the Daily Telegraph. But royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat that the Queen 'so publicly supporting Andrew', who has 'no accessible money', is 'damaging her image' -...

Ghislaine Maxwell has fired back about her updated indictment and called it a 'shocking, unfair abuse of power' because it comes so close to her trial. The British socialite accused prosecutors of 'obvious tactical gamesmanship' by hitting her with two new charges with four months to go until the trial is set to begin. Maxwell said she may ask for a delay for her trial, which is due to start on July 12th, because she needs extra time to prepare. But her lawyers did not want to force Maxwell to spend any more time in prison because the conditions were so harsh that she may not be 'strong enough to withstand the stress of trial', they wrote. Sarah Mhlanga, 38, who lives in North West England with her husband, Jabu, 40, and their children, Josiah, 10, and Mimi-Raie, eight, said she has been subjected to 'hurtful' trolling from people 'using her as a punchbag' to vent their rage at Meghan, 39. Their bombshell interview saw the Sussexes accuse an unnamed member of the Royal Family of racism, while Meghan claimed she was given such little support by the Palace that she suffered suicidal thoughts.   While her work has been on hold due to the pandemic, Sarah now fears she may have to quit her lucrative career when lockdown eases, fearing that people won't want to hire her. 'There are some people who feel like [Meghan is] waging a war on the royals, and people can't access Meghan so they're using me as their punchbag,' Sarah told Closer magazine. Meghan Markle today claimed in her interview with Oprah Winfrey she experienced more negativity towards her than the Duchess of Cambridge because of the colour of her skin. The Duchess of Sussex told the chat show queen she believed she had been singled out because she was 'not just British'. Meghan, 39, said she thought social media had amplified the interest in her but said Royals had shrugged it off, claiming they said 'This is what's happened to all of us'. And she went on to say the Duchess of Cambridge's cruel one-time nickname of Kate Middleton - Waity Katie - was not the same as racism she said she experienced. Meghan went on to say a Royal Family member had said they had all had to deal with rudeness, but the American said she did not think it was the same as racist abuse. She said: 'I think the volume of what was coming in and the interest was greater because of social media, because of the fact that I was not just British. STRIPPING a domestic abuse charity and refuge of  £5million funding because it is not gender-neutral puts lives at risk, say campaigners. The cash had been earmarked for Rise — mostly a women-only service. 3Women's refuge Rise's £5million cash funding will be pulled in April, after councils ruled that more support was needed for straight, gay and trans menCredit: Getty - Contributor But East Sussex and Brighton & Hove councils ruled that more support was needed for straight, gay and trans men. But Labour MP Jess Phillips said: “For the last few years we have seen  women’s domestic abuse services replaced by generic providers chasing contracts. Yet, women escaping violence need specialist services. Removing them is dangerous.”  Women’s Aid said: “We are deeply concerned about  the overall picture. Councils are making decisions that could cost lives — we know that if women don’t trust services, they will not leave their abusers.” Rise is having its funding pulled after 26 years in April. The £5.1million, seven-year contract will instead go to charity Victim Support and social housing provider Stonewater. They cater for all genders. Services...

Campaigners fear the decision will be echoed across the country, putting many women’s refuges at risk of closure. Women’s Aid boss Nicki Norman, said: “We are deeply concerned. "In this case the council said ‘the tender was intentionally non-gendered’ which meant that Rise, being primarily a service for women, went against them, even though they have a specialist LGBT service and could expand their services to include heterosexual men. “We are at serious risk of losing our network of refuges run by women for women.” Rise’s Brighton contract, worth £5.1million over seven years, will instead be split between Victim Support and Stonewater, a national social housing provider. DENVER (CBS4) – When Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen took office in July of 2018, he implemented a Domestic Violence Prevention Program. It is a cause close to his heart as the chief says he has “witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of domestic violence.” Despite his hard work to reach out to both survivors and abusers in the community, there is a spike in violent assaults in the city. He zoomed with CBS4’s Britt Moreno to explain why he feels this is happening. RELATED: Denver Weather: Snow Ends But Cold Remains As Coloradans Brush Off Fluffy Snow From 2019 to 2020 the more violent, aggravated assaults went from 490 cases to 549. In those same years lower level assaults like pushing and shoving trickled down from 1,459 cases to 1,062. “It is concerning to have low level crimes down but increase in violent assaults.” The chief tells CBS4 the number of suicides and cases of child abuse have remained relatively flat year to year. Although one thing to factor in regarding child abuse and neglect is that children have been...
BETHPAGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Child abuse reports are significantly down in our area in 2020, but that doesn’t mean cases are on the decline. In fact, it’s just the opposite. RELATED: New York City Releases COVID Vaccination Data By Zip Code As CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff reports, the numbers are jolting. Reports of severe physical and sexual child abuse to the Safe Center in Nassau County dropped precipitously in 2020, from 473 to 278. But no one thinks that means incidents are actually down. “We know the abuse is happening, it’s just the reports are not coming through,” said Keith Scott of the Safe Center. “Many of our school professionals are just seeing children through Zoom or other web-based platforms. You can only see from the neck up or chest up. You don’t get a feel for what a student is going through.” Across Long Island, reports of child abuse are down 15%. New York City reports are down 21%. Thousands of cases are unreported, experts believe, because with schools shuttered, teachers, school staff and coaches are not seeing signs of...
In San Fernando, Cádiz, a father has spent eleven months without being able to see his 7-year-old son by a restraining order, after reporting the minor’s school to social services that the child had developed obsessive behavior that they suspected could derive from some abuse, according to the Diario de Cádiz. It all started in December 2019, when the school warned that the 7-year-old boy, with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), was beginning to drawing penises and making sexual expressions continuously, something unusual for a child of that age. These events led the management of the center to activate the protocol on possible sexual abuse. When activated, a protective restraining order was immediately applied to the father while the investigation was being carried out. Although this was to be resolved within three months, with the arrival of the pandemic, everything slowed down, extending this situation almost a year. The father blames this situation on the school, whom accuses of not being able to have children with these characteristics, which has caused complex decisions to be made very “lightly”, before even going...
