Tami and Sophie both have a physical relationship with Colton, but they do not have a physical relationship with one another.  And despite admitting that there is 'definitely jealousy' between them, the three of them have found a way to make their abnormal relationship work through open communication and hard work. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, is truly unique. And it’s one that many believe can have a spiritual connection. The makeup of the date is something that won’t happen again for 11 years. The date is a palindrome, meaning that it reads the same way forward and backward. Some believe there’s a deeper meaning to palindrome dates. The number two, according to Matt Penner, who is a numerologist based in New Jersey, is symbolic of “give and take.” “Very much a duality, but I feel like having balance within the duality since both sides of a situation, and when we see both sides we can come together as one,” Matt Penner of Matt Penner Spiritual Healing said. Naturally, it’s a special day for two hearts...
CASS LAKE, Minnesota (AP) — Animal neglect used to be such a problem on the Leech Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota, with basic services like sterilization out of reach for many due to poverty and remoteness, that packs of stray dogs would sometimes bring traffic to a halt on the main highway. Today, strays are rare. Kids are helping their elders in animal rescues, pet food and supplies are routinely distributed in the community and the first veterinary clinic in the main town, Cass Lake, is one final permit away from breaking ground. Sah D'Simone has little time for what he calls 'zombie zen'. In fact, he uses an expletive to dismiss the solemnity and rigidity that accompanies some mindfulness practices. Instead, his meditation sessions are filled with what he terms 'ecstatic dance' – energetic, vigorous movements to pop and dance music while repeating mantras internally.  His tunes of choice are Madonna's Like A Prayer and The Cranberries' Zombie and he encourages participants to scream if they want to. 'Primal scream is a big part of the process,' he says. It might not be a conventional way to meditate, but then, D'Simone is far from a typical spiritual guru; at 14, he was hooked on smoking crack as he struggled to suppress his gay identity, only coming out at 23.  His early 20s were lost in a fog of drink and drugs while he was making his mark in the fashion world. It took him losing his job and contemplating suicide to come to the realisation that he needed to overhaul his life. The result is an exuberant, energetic experience he calls the...

New York : I believe that everything happens for a reason, in such a way, if there is something that is constantly repeated in my life it is because God wants through that situation to send me a message and / or a teaching. Quite a few examples are found in the Bible of how God communicated through numbers. In fact, this holy book begins by telling how the world was created in seven days. I invite you to take the Bible and explore it and you will realize the prominence that numbers have in the history of the Christian religion. Through the years, God through the angels has taught me that there is no single language for all but that He is creating that particular “language” with each one of us. This applies to other forms of communication such as dreams, visions, etc. Taking the above into account, I share the general meanings of some numbers, but I suggest that you apply its meaning to the particular circumstance that you are experiencing in your life so that in...

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Laura D’Oya, a priestess of an Afro-Brazilian religion, was at the center of the ceremony. Crouched down, she held a cigar in one of her hands and a top hat in the other. The temple in Rio de Janeiro was illuminated by red lights and dozens of practitioners sang and danced to the rhythm of an atabaque, a traditional hand drum. The faithful of Umbanda, a religion that was born in Brazil, always perform rituals of spiritual protection as part of the pre-Carnival traditions. A spiritual mentor walked past Laura in her Casa de Caridade Santa Barbara Iansa temple and prayed to activate a protective field to shield her from bad energies. “Many people take advantage of this period to do good actions, but others do bad things. It (the ceremony) is for protection against events that can be more common (during carnival),” Laura said before the ritual. As Portuguese colonists brought African slaves to Brazil, the enslaved men and women developed blends of their religions with Catholicism, which today include Candomble and Umbanda. They’re...
Justin Bieber spoke about his faith and the way he moved through disappointment in a spiritual Instagram post that was liked over one million times by the entertainer’s 159 million followers. The singer, songwriter, and husband of model wife Hailey Baldwin admitted that he was not a religious man. However, he explained in a lengthy Instagram share seen here that his belief was that many types of organized religions pointed out one’s flaws and perpetuated discouragement. This is why Justin has chosen to take a different spiritual path, one that allowed him a more personal relationship with a higher power. It was the details of that journey that he shared with his fans. Justin said that while he believed organized religion may lead some people to feel better than others because they go to a building to pray, he found his personal relationship with religion is stronger than attending a structure and connecting with others in a more organized manner. Justin said he puts his hopes in a higher power and that is what has sustained him. The singer also...
By Isobel Cockerell This piece originally appeared in Coda Story’s Disinformation section. In October, Rachel Bate and her three flatmates made the five-hour drive from London to the county of Cornwall, in the southwest of England. The U.K.’s coronavirus restrictions were on a brief hiatus, and the friends needed a break. They wanted a “spooky, quirky” trip, and believed that they had found the perfect destination. Camelot Castle stands atop black cliffs at the edge of the ancient village of Tintagel: A stone behemoth with battlements, mock-Gothic turrets and sweeping views of the sea. Built in 1899 for Victorian holidaymakers, it looks over the ruins of an older castle, where, according to legend, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table once lived. The sun was setting when 35-year-old Bate and her friends reached the hotel driveway. “It was a very windy evening, quite atmospheric,” she said. They walked into the lobby, and an unexpected figure peered out through the gloom. Above the reception desk was a huge photograph of U.S President Donald Trump, standing with his wife,...
Melanie McDonagh (pictured) isn't impressed by New Age mysticism YES By Melanie McDonagh Well, here’s a thing. Research done in the Netherlands has revealed that mindfulness makes you conceited. The study, published in the European Journal of Social Psychology, found that people who take part in meditation and other forms of training meant to place them in touch with the universe, and make them less judgmental, actually felt ‘spiritually superior’ to others. Practitioners of mindfulness rated their spiritual worth about 50 per cent higher than ordinary mortals when asked if they agreed with phrases such as: ‘The world would be a better place if others too had the insights that I have now.’ They were also likely to agree that: ‘Because of my education and experience, I am observant and see things that others overlook.’ I can’t think of any study that surprised me less. I once wrote about mindfulness, and in the course of my research attended half a dozen mindfulness sessions. Some of it was blameless to the point of stating the obvious, such as the emphasis on...
ANAHEIM (CBSLA) – A self-proclaimed “spiritual healer” was charged Wednesday with raping two women. Leopoldo Garcia, 69, was charged with two counts of forcible rape, according to court records. One victim was allegedly raped on August 11 and the other on October 1, 2018, according to the criminal complaint. Garcia also faces a sentencing enhancement for multiple victims. Garcia was in custody at the jail in Anaheim but was freed after posting bail. The charges filed Wednesday include a warrant for his arrest with a $1 million bail requested. One of the alleged victims, who is in her 40s, said she was sexually assaulted multiple times over the last several weeks when she came to Leopoldo Garcia for his services at his business Botanica El Padrino in the Anaheim Market Place at 1440 S. Anaheim Blvd., said Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Shane Carringer. Garcia, also known as Leo or Curandero, billed himself as a spiritual healer who told clients that he could help remove a curse on them if they had sex with him, Carringer said. Investigators are concerned there may be...
(CNN)In Disney's hit show "The Mandalorian," the title character has defeated a dragon, massive ice spiders and a horde of ugly squid-face creatures called Quarren. But in a recent episode, the stoic bounty hunter faced perhaps his most fearsome foe: pluralism. For the uninitiated, "The Mandalorian" is a live-action series that explores an outer rim of the ever-expanding "Star Wars" galaxy. In Season Two, airing now on Disney+, the main character -- named Din Djarin -- is looking for other Mandalorians, a diaspora in exile from their home planet. Raised by a religious cult, Djarin suddenly discovers other Mandalorians who -- gasp! -- follow different creeds, or perhaps no creed at all. He greets this new fact with the enthusiasm of a man handed a ham sandwich at a bris. Judging by Google, many people are curious about the mysterious "Way of the Mandalore," the creed shared by Djarin and his sect. The question, "What is the Mandalorian religion?" has consistently trended since the show premiered last year. Read MoreA Mandalorian credo, "weapons are part of my religion," also is...
Long before he arrived in the United States to bring the ancient Indian practice of yoga to the West, Paramahansa Yogananda visited a temple in Kashmir and fell into an ecstatic trance: in his vision he saw the temple transform into a gleaming white mansion. It sat on a hilltop in a distant land. Years later, he visited Mount Washington, a hilltop neighborhood less than six miles from downtown Los Angeles. And there he saw it, the gleaming white mansion. “I recognized it at once from my long past visions in Kashmir and elsewhere,” he wrote. The mansion was actually the long abandoned Mount Washington Hotel, and it would soon become the headquarters for the Self Realization Fellowship, the global organization Yogananda founded a century ago this year. The lasting power and reach of the group is a testament not only to the yogi’s cross-cultural charisma and uplifting message, but to the qualities that made Los Angeles his ideal spiritual home. “Around the world, L.A. is known for being open-minded and a forerunner in all sorts of things...
By Yew Lun Tian LHASA, China (Reuters) - Dzekyid, a 54-year-old barley farmer, presents himself as a role model for his neighbours and for the success of China's efforts to tie economic development to social control in Tibet. Dzekyid's well-built house in Jangdam village has a hall filled with Buddhist scriptures and Thangka paintings, and a row of prayer wheels for his religious 76-year-old father, Tenzin, to spin twice a day. As a member of China's ruling Communist Party, Dzekyid is an atheist. "This house is possible because of good government policies. My heart is wholly with the party, not even one bit with religion," said Dzekyid, whose family was showcased to a group of reporters on a government-organised tour of Tibet, an area where access to foreign journalists is normally barred. Government officials in both Beijing and Tibet vetted the reporters from media organisations who were invited to join the trip. On the closely supervised tour, there was little opportunity to interact with ordinary Tibetans without government officials in attendance. China is pushing to transform the mindsets and values...

DOWNTOWN L.A. (KABC) -- Hospitals are playing a key role in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. But, it's not just the medical care by doctors and nurses that is so essential these days; the spiritual healing of those in need is also very much in demand. It's been Nemesio Santana's life mission to serve. There's perhaps no better way to do that amid the covid 19 pandemic than to be there for others."They need someone to talk to," said Santana.A seminarian who is studying to be a priest, Santana found his current calling in becoming a hospital chaplain during a time it is needed most."They really feel lonely they feel depressed, and sad and when we as chaplains go there, they light up," said Santana."There's always a sense of peace, I find," said Father Chris Ponnet, pastor at St. Camillus Center for Spiritual Care in Downtown LA. He helps lead a hospital chaplaincy program, and explains the chaplains are there when family members can't be."They're just very grateful that someone can be with their loved one, not only to pray with...
A “satanic mob” of Democrats aligned with former Vice President Joe Biden intend to remove Christianity from America said Phil Robertson, host of BlazeTV’s In the Woods with Phil and author of Jesus Politics: How to Win Back the Soul of America, offering his remarks on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “A bunch of Democratic thugs” hostile to the Make America Great Again message seek to “make America hate again,” stated Robertson. Robertson said, “[Democrats] come along and say, ‘No, we want to make America hate again, and we’re going to show you how.’ [They] form a satanic mob with filthy minds, filthy mouths. The f-word is sprayed on everything they touch. They riot, they loot, they burn. They say get rid of Jesus, get rid of the church, burn the churches, get rid of Trump, disarm the people, get rid of law enforcement, get rid of any historical monument, get rid of anything wherever anybody ever made a mistake, zero forgiveness for everybody that’s sinned — like they don’t — and you just look...

“I can’t breathe!’” the crowd chanted, invoking the dying words spoken by George Floyd as a white police officer pressed a knee into his neck. Kianna Ruff yelled it over and over along with hundreds of fellow protesters as they marched for hours through New York City, a kind of collective mantra that touched someplace deep inside those present. “I just started choking and I broke down,” the 28-year-old activist and minister said. “And I do feel like that that was also a spiritual experience that I’ve never experienced before.” The demonstrations against police brutality and systemic racism that have raged in the wake of Floyd’s killing are often led by young people who find a sense of purpose, ritual and community on the streets. Many involved say the protests deepen spiritual connections and embody familiar elements of traditional faith. The demonstrators kneel. They observe mournful moments of silence. They break into call-and-response: “What do we want?” and “Justice!” From Los Angeles to New York, Milwaukee to Minneapolis, they stand shoulder-to-shoulder and find common cause in their shared...
Some of the key creators behind the beloved Suikoden franchise are attempting to crowdfund a spiritual successor. Today, a new team called Rabbit & Bear Studios announced an upcoming Kickstarter campaign to fund Eiyuden Chronicle, a roleplaying game designed to evoke PlayStation-era nostalgia. The campaign will debut on July 27th, and the team is led by Yoshitaka Murayama, director and writer on the first two Suikoden titles. “This is a new title for me,” Murayama tells The News Brig. “Or rather is a combination of all my experiences as a creator and trying to expand on that base.” Aside from Murayama, Rabbit & Bear features an impressive list of talent. That includes: Junko Kawano, the lead artist on Suikoden 1 and 4; Junichi Murakami, art director on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow; Suikoden Tactics director Osamu Komuta; and composers Motoi Sakuraba and Michiko Naruke. “Isn’t it about time we make a game for ourselves?” “Over the past years the core creators have met up at different events, and of course you talk about the glory days as well as regrets,” Murayama...
The National Football League reportedly plans to start Week One games by playing two separate anthems. Preceding kickoff, first will come the song known traditionally as the unofficial Black national anthem, the 120-year-old spiritual “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” That performance will be followed by our nation’s bona fide national anthem, our beloved “Star-Spangled Banner,” (or so say multiple news stories citing anonymous sources.) My first instinct upon hearing this news was to dismiss it as political correctness. SAINTS' DEMARIO DAVID WELCOMES NFL'S REPORTED PLAN TO PLAY BLACK NATIONAL ANTHEM After all, we are all part of one American people with one national anthem that represents all of us. That’s certainly the ideal for which we should strive even if it is not always the apparent reality. So why should we start games with two variants of celebratory American songs? Why should we divide ourselves in this manner? Even as I began developing my own internal talking points for expounding on my opposition to this idea, however, I kept feeling an inward tug pulling me to the notion that inclusion...
