On Friday, he drops the true-crime mystery “Black Bird” on Apple TV+, a gripping six-episode miniseries that brilliantly blurs the lines of truth and fiction in a sinister world. Based on a true story from the 2010 novel “In with the Devil: a Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption,” the miniseries follows hotshot Jimmy Keene, who receives 10 years in a minimum-security prison on drug and weapons charges. However, he cuts a deal with the FBI to enter a maximum-security prison to befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall, who’s confessed to so many murders that authorities don’t know what to believe. It is Jimmy’s job to elicit a concrete confession from Larry in order to discover the whereabouts of the bodies of nearly two dozen missing women. Apple Lee Pace as Emperor Cleon As the cliche goes, “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” In Hollywood, it’s a rule or law, not just a saying. When hits are on television or in the movies, studios always scramble to make a show or film just like that hit. This is why we have “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Genie” or “The Addams Family” and the “Munsters” or “Dynasty” and “Dallas.” This same thing happened on a galactic scale when “Star Wars” debuted in 1977 and changed how Americans consumed movies. Many credit “Jaws” as being the first movie blockbuster, but “Star Wars” created a high-grossing genre (the space opera) that could be copied and recreated. It was because of “Star Wars” that competitors like “Star Trek” were launched into theaters, and “Battlestar Galactica” were created.  In the 2010s, HBO created a show based on George R. R. Martin’s sword and sorcery series, known on television as “Game of Thrones,” which was a tremendous hit. In fact, after the series ended, 38% of HBO subscribers ended their relationship with the streaming service....
An Apple TV+ original movie starring some of Hollywood's biggest stars will begin filming in North Jersey in November. "The Greatest Beer Run Ever" is an adaptation of the memoir by Chick Donohue and J. T. Molloy. It's being directed by Oscar winner Peter Farrelly as an Apple Original, and stars Zac Efron and Russell Crowe. While production is under way in Thailand, filming in Jersey City will begin sometime in November, NJ Advance Media reports. John "Chick" Donohue was 26 years old and a veteran of a US Marine Corps when he was challenged while out with friends at a New York City bar in 1967. One person suggested someone sneak into Vietnam, find old friends in combat and give them all messages of support from back home, and beer. Chick volunteered. It would be the greatest beer run ever. The movie's producer Andrew Muscato is apparently a Jersey City resident and Basking Ridge native. Click here for more from Hypebeast.
In this article AAPLTim Cook, chief executive officer of Apple Inc., smiles while speaking about Apple TV+ during an event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, U.S., on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019.David Paul Morris | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesApple claimed its TV+ service had less than 20 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada as of July, allowing it to pay behind-the-scenes production crew lower rates than streamers with more subscriptions, according to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, a union that represents TV and movie workers who perform jobs like operating cameras and building sets. Apple has never revealed subscriber numbers for its Apple TV+ streaming service, which launched in the fall of 2019. Analysts are reluctant to offer estimates, but many say that its scale pales in comparison to services like Netflix, which claimed 209 million subscribers as of Q2, and Disney+, which claimed 116 million. The fact that Apple can pay a discounted rate despite being the most valuable publicly traded company in the world highlights some of the issues facing Hollywood workers as...
LOS ANGELES, Aug 30 (.) – Six years after ending his satirical show “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart will return to television next month with a new space that will address current affairs in depth. Apple said Monday that “The Problem With Jon Stewart” will begin airing on its Apple TV + streaming platform on September 30 and Stewart will dive deeply into a unique issue of national importance. In each of the hour-long episodes, the 58-year-old Stewart will speak with people affected by a particular issue and address “tangible steps that can lead to a path of resolution later,” Apple said in a statement. The program will be weekly and will be accompanied by a podcast of the same name. It will include “a lot of jokes,” Apple said. Stewart’s irreverent brand of political satire made him a beloved television figure, influencing him far beyond his nightly audience of 2-3 million on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central. His space won 20 Emmy Awards in the 16 years he hosted it. Stewart stepped aside in 2015 and has appeared...
During the first season of See on Apple TV +, the notion of blindness became a crushing force to be overcome. One so ruthless that the characters had to find a way to face a peculiar enemy with almost no tools. In the world where Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) was born, the view is a myth. So much as to have the quality of a legend. But even more intriguing is that no one remembers a past when the world was different. In the dystopian world of See, the ability to see is a form of power. As if that were not enough, it is also a transit towards the way of understanding collective fear. Much more, when a prodigy occurs that will define a before and after in the history of this society that subsists in darkness. As the confrontation between tribes and the quest for dominance grows more violent, the series reached an unexpected depth in its first season. Some of that perception about the inevitable, the tragedy and the threat of the different is part of the...

The new version of Apple TV offers some improvements that can offer a better user experience, but there are still doubts about its high price in the market. (CNNMoney) – The all-new Apple TV has undergone a real transformation: it’s packed with new features, a new remote control, new apps … and a new price that’s higher. Apple’s newest decoder costs $ 149 ($ 199 for the double-roomy 64GB model). That’s more than double the $ 69 that customers had to shell out for the latest version. So is your money worth investing? Let’s take a look at the features of the new Apple TV and compare them to the competition. 1. Siri Now you can yell at your television … and it will hear you. It’s a well-developed feature – just tap the mic button on your remote and tell your TV what you want to watch. However, if there’s one reason to subscribe to Apple TV+, “Ted Lasso” is it. TV’s most hilariously heartfelt comedy kicked off Season 2 over the weekend, but don’t worry if you missed Season 1. Thanks to half-hour episodes that are tailor-made for a breezy binge, you can easily get caught up before the next weekly installment. The series follows a pollyannish American college football coach, Ted Lasso, who is hired to coach a British soccer team, AFC Richmond. Unbeknownst to him, he was secretly hired to lose by a scheming owner trying to tank the team owned by her ex-husband. The Season 2 premiere continues many of the storylines we grew to love in Season 1. “SNL” alum Jason Sudeikis picks right up with his Emmy-worthy portrayal of a lovably earnest coach with an aw-shucks demeanor that you can’t help but adore. Apple has been quietly sticking special locator beacon chips into some of its new iPhones that’ll let you unlock your car and find lost items through walls — the latter thanks to the $29 AirTags announced today — but sadly, you won’t find that chip in the new M1-based iPad Pros or the long-awaited new Siri remote for the Apple TV. Apple confirmed to us that the U1 locator chip, which uses pulses of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio to broadcast its precise location, won’t appear in the Siri remote. We’re waiting on final bulletproof confirmation about the iPad Pros, but it also doesn’t appear in their product page, spec sheet, or press release. Last year’s iP ad Pros didn’t include a U1 chip, either. Is Apple expecting us to stick AirTags to our iPads and TV remotes to escape the jaws of the ever-ravenous couch? Unlikely, but the company has been pretty choosey about which devices get the chip so far. You can find it in the iPhone 11 and newer (but not the iPhone SE) and the Apple Watch...
Tech giant Apple is reportedly building a new Apple TV device with a built-in camera and speaker that will face the user. Bloomberg reports that tech giant Apple is in the early stages of building a new TV device with a built-in camera and speaker. The most recent Apple TV home media device was released in 2016 and hasn’t been updated in some time while Amazon, Google, and Roku regularly release new streaming boxes and media sticks. The Masters of the Universe’s attempt at innovation in the home media device market is a streaming device with a built-in camera facing the users. It appears the aim of this would be to allow users to make FaceTime calls to other Apple device users and video chat via their television. Apple isn’t the first company to consider this idea, Amazon’s Fire TV Cube supports webcams but does not have a webcam built into it while the Facebook Portal TV device has a built-in camera. Bloomberg noted that the company may not go ahead with the project and it is still in the early stages...
In this article .BCOM Apple is in the early stages of building a new Apple TV device with a built-in camera and speaker, according to Bloomberg. The newest Apple TV was released in 2016 and is long overdue for an update as it competes with TV products from Amazon, Google and Roku that have gained market share by routinely adding new features. A camera could enable services like FaceTime calls, which are already available on Macs, iPhones and iPads, and would let people video chat through their TVs. That would bring some features on a par with the Amazon Echo Fire TV Cube, which supports webcams for video chats but doesn't have its own camera, or the Facebook Portal TV, which has a built-in camera. The speaker could help it double as a HomePod-like device to play music and speak with Siri. Bloomberg warned Apple could still decide to scrap the project. In the meantime, Apple is expected to announce a new Apple TV with an improved remote control and a faster processor at some point in 2021, Bloomberg said...
Apple is reportedly working on a pair of new products that combine its strengths across connected TVs, premium audio and tablets. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the company is in the early stages of developing an Apple TV box with a HomePod speaker and camera for making video calls. Judging by the description, the device sounds like a soundbar that treads the line between a Roku Streambar (for cord-cutters who crave better audio) and Facebook’s Portal TV, which effectively turns your set into a huge video chat screen. The second product is rumored to be a high-end speaker with an iPad for a display. Apple has apparently even explored using a robotic arm to allow the smart screen to follow you around the room. If that sounds familiar, it’s because Apple is offering something akin to Amazon’s rotating Echo Show 10.  There’s no timeline on a launch as both products are still very much in the development stage, per Bloomberg. So, there’s still a chance Apple could ditch its plans and decide not to release either. Just last month,...
Apple is reportedly developing a new TV accessory that combines elements of its Apple TV with a HomePod speaker and camera for video calls, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
