Elon Musk's SpaceX has its own town in Texas and now Tesla has an exclusive border patrol lane between the Lone Star State and Nuevo León, Mexico to cut travel time down for its suppliers. The lane was part of a deal with Tesla when the company moved its operations from Silicon Valley to Austin, Texas on December 1, 2021. Musk said that Tesla, which has been in Silicon Valley since 2003, had also outgrown its Fremont factory. With the carmakers exclusive border access, the trip for its suppliers is cut down to just 10 minutes – it can be more than 25 minutes during rush-hour. And hanging above the lane, which sits in between traditional border crossing booths, is a large green sign with 'TESLA' shown as it does in the company's iconic logo. Tesla currently has six suppliers in Nuevo León, including APG Mexico and Taiwanese-based companies EnFlex Corp. and Quanta Computer. After saying he expects to remain in Baltimore for the rest of his career, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on Thursday would not commit to participating in training camp nor playing in Week 1 without a contract extension. “It’s part of the conversation,” Jackson, in his first news conference in more than five months, repeatedly said in response to several questions about his contract after Thursday’s practice. Jackson, who does not have an agent, said his absence from the team’s voluntary offseason training activities was not contract related. He reported Monday and participated in all three days of mandatory minicamp. “I just wanted to stay away and just grind,” he said. “I just wanted to come back and just see how it felt. I feel good.” The 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player said he’s had conversations with team officials this week in Owings Mills related to an extension, which could make him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. The 24-year-old quarterback is entering the final year of his rookie deal, which will pay him $23 million this season as...
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly filming an "at home with the Sussexes"-style docuseries for Netflix as part of their multi-million pound mega-deal. US reports claim the couple have welcomed cameras into their £11million Montecito mansion to film candid content, as the Kardashians did for their fly-on-the-wall show. 5Meghan and Harry have reportedly allowed Netflix cameras into their Montecito mansion to film them for a docuseriesCredit: Getty 5The couple were followed by cameras during a trip to New York last year - and it's understood the royals have banned them filming content during the JubileeCredit: Getty According to Page Six, the Sussexes have been working with production crews for several months now - despite Meghan's animated show Pearl being quietly dumped by the platform. The streaming giant apparently plans to release the series at the end of the year to coincide with the publication of Harry's bombshell memoir. However, sources suggest the Sussexes have asked for the alleged docuseries to hit the small screen next year instead. The news comes exactly a fortnight before the Queen and working royals stand...
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly filming an 'at-home docuseries' for Netflix as part of their $100 million streaming deal - and are said to have even welcomed cameras into their $14 million Montecito mansion to capture content for the candid show, which will doubt raise fresh fears within the monarchy about what other bombshells the couple might air about the royals.  According to Page Six, the Sussexes have been working with production crews on an 'at-home with the Duke and Duchess-style' show for several months now, which the streaming giant allegedly hopes to release at the end of the year in order to coincide with the publication of Prince Harry's upcoming memoir.  However, sources suggest that the Sussexes are angling for the docuseries to be held over until next year.  'The timing is still being discussed, things are up in the air,' a 'producer in the know' said. News of the couple's alleged docuseries will undoubtedly spark major concerns behind the scenes at Buckingham Palace over what allegations they might air about the royal family while in front...
VIDEO3:0303:03OPEC+ alliance may end if OPEC countries increase oil production: Advisory firmSquawk Box Asia China's recent Covid wave and subsequent lockdowns have helped oil prices ease from record highs reached roughly a week ago, according to analysts. "We have the re-emergence of Covid in China, which is throwing another spanner into the works when we're trying to assess what the demand will be," said Richard Gorry, managing director of JBC Energy Asia. He also said markets are still grappling with the disruption of oil supply caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. Oil prices have been volatile in recent sessions, spiking to record levels not seen since 2008 just a week ago, reaching above $130 per barrel. But crude prices then fell drastically, dropping more than 27% below that recent high to less than $100 a barrel earlier this week.Loading chart... "The OPEC in their monthly reports have not changed their demand forecast, which suggests that it is business as normal," Gorry said. "I would tend to believe that that will probably change in the months ahead, because if we look at...
Former President Donald Trump once derided New York Yankees star Alex Rodrigues as a 'druggie' and a 'joke.' But the slugger has emerged as part of an investment group closing in to buy Trump's Washington D.C. hotel, according to sources familiar with a deal that might help the former president claw back millions of dollars from his loss-making property. The Trump Organization reportedly reached a deal with the Miami-based CGI Merchant Group last year to sell its lease on the Trump International Hotel, just a short walk down Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, for $375 million. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of this year.  However, sources said the deal is actually led by the Hospitality Opportunity Fund - a $650 million fund whose backers include serial investor Rodriguez.  Although industry insiders said Rodriguez was simply the headline name on a fund of hundreds of backers, Trump critics delighted in the apparent irony. 'This is just more proof that the only thing that matters to Trump is money," said Trump biographer Michael D'Antonio told the...

It comes as Australia and New Zealand announced they have ratified the agreement. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP was signed last year by 15 Asia-Pacific countries. The countries are the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and five of their largest trading partners China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Australia said in a statement on Tuesday that its ratification — together with New Zealand's — paved the way for the deal to enter into force on Jan. 1, 2022, and allowed RCEP to reach a "milestone." New Zealand confirmed its ratification in a separate statement on Wednesday. RCEP will be in force 60 days after a minimum of six ASEAN members and three...
(CNN)Democrats aren't there yet on cracking a deal on a President Joe Biden's sweeping, if now scaled back, economic and climate package. But the over the course of the next 36 hours, those involved in these talks think it is possible to get at least one of the two Senate moderates to sign off on a final and detailed framework. That wouldn't get them to the finish line, but it would be designed in a way that would secure backing of progressives and moderates in the party and -- while more modest than once hoped-- be defined by sweeping changes to the kind of benefits American families can depend on. It's not a secret who that one senator is: Sen. Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat. It's not a secret who that one senator isn't: Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. The Arizona Democrat "is still very much a work in progress, and depending on the day we don't know what the work entails," one Democrat involved in the talks told CNN. But if Biden and Democrats can lock in an agreement with...
Federal judge Jed Rakoff granted the release of a defendant, Elouisa Pimental, who had been charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, if she agreed to get the shot A New York judge ordered a defendant to get the COVID-19 vaccine as part of his bail conditions, while another made it part of a rape suspect's plea deal - unusual moves that legal observers say raise serious questions about the line between civil liberty and the law. Recently, in a rare move, Manhattan judge Jed Rakoff granted the release of a woman accused of drug dealing on the condition she get vaccinated.  Judge Rakoff argued that he did not feel comfortable granting bail to a defendant who posed a danger to the public.  And as he feels that the unvaccinated pose a serious risk, 'enhanced risk of infecting other, innocent people and even potentially causing their deaths,' he would not release her without the condition of vaccination. Another order came from Bronx judge Jeffrey Zimmerman who made vaccination part of the plea deal. Judge Zimmerman told a defendant charged with drug possession,...
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, a GOP favorite for a potential 2024 presidential run, is catching flak for tweeting that negotiating with the Taliban is like 'dealing with the devil' after she helped the Trump administration to do exactly that.  'To have our Generals say that they are depending on diplomacy with the Taliban is an unbelievable scenario. Negotiating with the Taliban is like dealing with the devil,' Haley wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. The tweet was savagely ratio'ed, where the ambassador received more replies than likes or retweets. Haley resigned as ambassador to the United Nations in October 2018, long before President Trump signed a peace deal with the Taliban in February 2020, but she till had a key hand in negotiations with the Taliban. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) bluntly explained Republicans’ legislative strategy as a minority party until the 2022 midterm election: chaos and obstruction. In a newly surfaced video dated June 29 from a Patriot Voices event, the congressman explains the state of play on Capitol Hill vis-à-vis the infrastructure plan being hashed out in Congress. Roy said Speaker Nancy Pelosi “is just tacking hard to the left,” and that he’s waiting to see what kind of bill emerges from the Senate. “We have no idea where they are,” he said of the Senate negotiations. Part of Harry and Meghan's deal to do their two-hour bombshell interview with Oprah was to plug his upcoming Apple TV documentary on mental health, claim sources associated with the series to DailyMail.com.  A TV insider with knowledge of the deal claims that promoting the documentary within the interview was part of Harry's agreement as 'co-partner' and 'co-creator' of the Apple series. Oprah gave the upcoming series a shout out during the two-hour prime time special, The Sussexes and Oprah both have publicly insisted no money was paid to the couple for the CBS interview, which was distributed to over 70 countries and watched live by 17.1 million people. While their claims are technically true, Harry's lucrative deal with Apple includes promotional work, which could include its mention during the two-hour interview. Harry is being compensated for his contribution as 'co-partner, co-creator and executive producer' on the as-yet-untitled forthcoming mental health series. Oprah referenced the series during her sit-down with the Sussexes, saying on camera: 'Harry and I are working on this mental health series for Apple.' The 'plug' for...
Michelle Obama will be doing double duty on her next project for Netflix, producing and starring in a new live-action children's puppet series. Last week, the streaming service announced six new upcoming projects from Barack and Michelle Obama's production company, Higher Ground Productions — but they managed to keep one featuring Mrs. Obama herself a secret.  Waffles + Mochi, which will premiere on Netflix on March 16, is about a pair of puppet chefs who get hired at a supermarket, where they work for the supermarket owner — who happens to be the former first lady — and have foodie adventures all over the world. Barack and Michelle Obama have announced a slate of six new projects as part of their lucrative multi-year deal with Netflix, revealing that they will lead production on a variety of new TV shows and movies, including a film about the first man to summit Mt. Everest.   Higher Ground Productions, which the former first couple founded in 2018 partnership with Netflix, revealed that it is currently working on varied line-up of four new films and two more TV series. Among them are a docuseries about national parks, a science-fiction movie, and a TV show based on a young adult thriller about a Native American teen who goes undercover. Coming! Higher Ground Productions, which President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama formed in partnership with Netflix, announced a new lineup today 'We created Higher Ground to tell great stories,' the Obamas said in a press release. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi The legislative jockeying over more coronavirus relief is in full swing as lawmakers angle to get their priorities included in the rescue package being negotiated by the White House. One Thursday report from Politico suggested the White House might split relief in two, passing a "skimpier" $600-$800 billion bipartisan deal first, then follow up with progressive priorities passed using reconciliation (which would only need a bare majority to pass the Senate). But multiple White House officials immediately shot down the piecemeal reporting, with White House press secretary Jen Psaki tweeting, "We aren't looking to split the package in two." White House communications director Kate Bedingfield added, "We believe the American people need all of the help it will provide — now." The constraints of trying to negotiate a bipartisan deal of any kind are already evident. According to Politico, only eight Senate Republicans are involved in the current talks, which have proven fruitless so far. But swaying eight GOP senators wouldn't even be enough to help Senate Democrats clear the 60-vote threshold...
Tony Schwartz, Trump whisperer and co-author of The Art of the Deal, described how a “white hot rage” over losing the 2020 election is likely fueling the president’s increasingly chaotic and deranged behavior, from pushing insane election fraud conspiracies to rushing out pardons of his confidantes to abruptly blowing up critical legislation on Covid relief. During an appearance on Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday night, Schwartz explained how the tag of “loser” is haunting everything Donald Trump does in the final few weeks of his presidency. “He’s determined that, the Trump modus operandi, particular under these circumstances is ‘Maintain dominance in my way I possibly can and make other people suffer more than I am suffering,'” Schwartz told guest host John Berman in reaction to the news of Trump’s controversial pardons of his former campaign officials Paul Manafort and Roger Stone as well as Jared Kushner’s father. “I don’t think Donald Trump has any interest in $2,000 for Americans,” Schwartz added about Trump’s last-minute undermining of the bipartisan Covid relief bill that just passed Congress. “He’s doing it because he wants to show that he’s powerful and he wants to show that he can...

The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg is not an EU institution but adhering to its judgments is an EU red line. – Reuters British negotiators are close to clinching a deal that commits the UK to remaining subject to rulings by the European Court of Human Rights after Brexit.  The UK would sacrifice a new extradition treaty and access to EU criminal databases if it quit the international agreement, under the terms of the potential deal,  Brussels sources said.  The EU insists that respect for the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), and its Strasbourg court, is a condition for cooperation in law enforcement after the end of the transition period on December 31.  Either party can trigger a “guillotine clause” suspending or terminating the judicial cooperation agreement if they had serious concerns about the protection of human rights and the rule of law, under a British proposal put to the EU. David Frost, the UK’s chief negotiator, told peers in the Lords EU Committee on Wednesday, “I think I can see a way forward on that that satisfies all sides’ needs....

The head of Goya Foods has quietly blocked an agreement to sell off part of the company that would have left him out of a job, a new report claims.  CEO Robert Unanue, who sparked calls for a Goya boycott when he visited the White House on July 9 and said Americans are 'truly blessed' to have Donald Trump as their president, managed to quash a minority stake sale that would have valued the canned foods giant at $4billion, insiders told the New York Post.   The sources said that Goya's board of directors had tentatively agreed last month to the proposed deal with BDT Capital Partners, a firm that invests in family and founder-led companies with a goal of expanding them or taking them public.  The deal would have required Unanue to vacate his position within 18 months so a new CEO could be brought it, sources said.   Despite having initially signaled their support, the board of directors ultimately voted against the deal last Wednesday amid the ongoing controversy over Unanue's endorsement of Trump.   The Post reported that Unanue, who owns...
