The White House declined to respond to reports that OPEC+ is again preparing to cut oil production quotas, saying President Joe Biden remains focused on other actions to bring down gas prices at home. Two days after sitting for the final minutes of a loss to the Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine wants to stop talking about being benched. “It’s one game, man,” LaVine said after practice Sunday at the Advocate Center. “I don’t want to get this blown out of proportion.” Despite that insistence, it was clear that frustration still lingered for LaVine after he was benched in the final minutes of Friday’s last-minute loss to the Magic at the United Center after shooting 1-for-14 on the night. LaVine said he spoke with coach Billy Donovan about the decision, expressing his desire to finish games even when he’s experiencing an off-shooting night. “Obviously I’m a competitive guy, I want to play,” LaVine said. “I just told him I feel like I’ve earned the right to go out there and try to play through a bad game. Dustin Kelly was settling into his new job as the Chicago Cubs minor-league field coordinator when the unexpected opportunity arose. CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins was stunned when analyst Bakari Sellers bluntly declared President Joe Biden will face a primary challenge in 2024 after midterm results that appear to have bolstered him. On Wednesday afternoon, President Biden took to the lectern in the East Room of the White House for a press conference amid the cooling embers of a midterm Election Night widely seen as a Trump-fueled disappointment for Republicans, during which he projected confidence and a strong “told-you-so” vibe. Biden took several questions on his plans for 2024, and said that while his decision remains unannounced, the midterm results encouraged him. On Thursday morning’s edition of CNN This Morning, Don Lemon and co-anchors Collins and Poppy Harlow continued the midterms coverage that never ends with big boards and panels, including commentary from CNN analysts Sellers and Paul Begala. Collins observed that when Biden was asked about 2024, “I feel like the calculus changed overnight,” and asked Begala to weigh in. Begala turned it around by asking “Why wouldn’t he?” Sellers’ answer to that question included the prediction of a Democratic primary, which Collins and Begala jumped all over: BAKARI SELLERS:...

Political violence in the United States is continuing to get worse and with easy access to weapons of mass death, there is a fear that it could generate larger body counts. Princeton Professor Eddie Glaude warned this is just the beginning of MSNBC's The Last Word on Monday evening. "It reveals, the corruption of the heart. They've turned some of Americans into more monsters. It reveals we have political nihilists who are part of a major political party, who value nothing and no, except for holding power" said Glaude. "And you combine those political nihilists with cynical people and people who are motivated by hate, and you get violence." Glaude went on to say the problem isn't just rhetoric. "I'm thinking very quickly of two historical moments," he recalled. "Moments where there seems to be an existential threat that defined how Americans came to blows with each other. The mid-20th century, and of course the mid-19th century. The 1850s, and 1950s and 1960s. and there was a clear line drawn, and violence to find the period. We...

In one, he said that a previous flu infection is the best way to fight future infections, more so than vaccination. “When people decry vaccine hesitancy, it’s coming from the gobbledygook that you give us. You’re not paying attention to the science,” Paul said. “The very basic science is that previous infection provides a level of immunity. If you ignore that in your studies, if you don’t present that in your committees, you’re not being truthful.” Fauci appeared genuinely perplexed when he got a chance to respond, saying he’s never questioned “fundamental immunology” and he even has some credible expertise on the subject. “I have never, ever denied fundamental...

(CNN)"I like to stop and appreciate stuff along the way."To be sitting in the famous black and silver of the Las Vegas Raiders, associated with toughness and winning, is a 21-year dream come true for Davante Adams. And sometimes, he likes to just soak it all in. It's March and the All-Pro wide receiver has just been traded to the Raiders after eight successful years with the Green Bay Packers, reuniting him with his college quarterback, Derek Carr. The move -- which tore arguably the best receiver in the NFL away from arguably the best quarterback, Aaron Rodgers -- sent the league into overdrive, in particular the wide receiver market. Majority World | Universal Images Group | Getty Images For 33-year-old Rouaya raising five children in a small village in Akkar, north Lebanon, times are hard. Following the dual crises of the Covid-19 pandemic and Lebanon's economic collapse, she has had to double her workload, "working in the fields and in the house." But still, she struggles to earn enough money to eat. Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its impact on food supplies has only made matters worse. "Often I don't have enough money to purchase food to cook, so I give the children bread sprinkled with thyme. Sometimes, too, we only eat twice a day. Times have never been so bad," she said. The daughter of a man killed nearly a month ago in the McKinney Fire filed a lawsuit against a local utility company this week, claiming that one of the company’s power lines sparked the inferno that left four people dead and scores of people homeless. The lawsuit from Theresa Cogan — whose father, John Cogan, died when the fire overran his home alongside the Klamath River late last month — alleged the company, Pacific Power, prioritized its profits over  homeowners in Siskiyou County by failing to properly inspect and maintain its power lines through the Klamath National Forest. As a result, its power lines either came into contact with vegetation in the area, or for sparks from its equipment flew into the surrounding forest, the lawsuit said. Theresa Cogan’s claims mark the latest salvo in a legal battle between victims of the blaze — California’s largest of 2022 — and Pacific Power, whose parent company, PacifiCorp, provides power to nearly 2 million people in six states across the American West. It follows on the heels of other lawsuits by wildfire...
Recently resurfaced video shows a frustrated father raging at Elizabeth Warren over the politician's loan forgiveness aspirations during an event in 2020, after he paid his daughter's way through school but was told he would not be entitled to a refund. The heated confrontation transpired in Iowa during Warren's ill-fated run for president, which saw her vow to cancel student loan debt up to $50,000 for roughly 42 million borrowers if elected. In the clip, the furious dad rips into Warren over the prospective policy, citing how he worked two jobs to pay for his daughter's education, while those who did not take such measures would serve to benefit from the progressive's prospective policy. Now, however, despite the Massachusetts senator's failure to garner a nomination, that father's fears have become a reality - with Joe Biden announcing Wednesday he will forgive debt of up to $10,000, making good on a promise made during his own campaign. The unnamed man in the clip, much like other conservatives wary of loan forgiveness policies, argues that plans to cancel student loan debt would offer...

WHEN the railways were privatised 25 years ago, Prime Minister John Major said that it was to stimulate competition on the tracks. Now, as the model they used to break up the railways is falling apart, it seems the only competition is to be the worst train operator. 2Avanti is the out and out worst train operator in BritainCredit: Alamy 2The hostile atmosphere on the railways has been caused by the failure of the Government to come up with what unionised rail staff see as a reasonable pay riseCredit: Getty At the moment it is Avanti that is the out and out leader, the Mo Farah of failing train operators, having passed old favourites such as SouthEastern, Thameslink and others. Avanti is Italian for “Let’s go!” and the company does anything but. At the beginning of the summer, Avanti services started to deteriorate, with many cancellations and several strike days. But now it has just got worse. With draconian cuts and with the prospect of more strikes, it seems the management has all but given up the ghost. IMPOSSIBLE TO...
