Exercise and talking therapy could help thousands of patients with rheumatoid arthritis combat crippling fatigue, a study suggests. Sufferers from other inflammatory diseases, such as lupus and axial spondylitis, could also benefit from the treatments, which should be part of routine care, experts say. Around 800,000 people in the UK have these conditions and four in five of them live with fatigue every day. This affects their ability to concentrate, go to work or live independently. Researchers from the universities of Aberdeen and Glasgow examined how to cut fatigue among these patients. Researchers found that those who had talking therapy or exercise therapy for arthritis significantly reduced fatigue levels against those receiving usual care They compared three types of care for 368 people with various inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Participants were either given telephone-delivered physical activity programmes, cognitive behavioural therapy or they received usual care. Those in the exercise group had five 45-minute, one-to-one sessions over 30 weeks while those who had talking therapy received an average of eight sessions over the same period. (CBS4) – Colorado moms are in desperation as the formula shortage continues. “Most people have three days or less of formula,” said Montgomery Smith, a Greeley mom. “They’re scavenging to try to find what they need and not all babies can have just the classic formula.” Just two days ago, Smith started a Facebook group called “Where is The Formula-Colorado” to connect and help parents looking for formula in the area. Within hours, the group garnered hundreds of members. “I’ve also had some single dads that have also wound up joining,” she said. “I try to interact with everybody to see where the need is and how hard this is impacting people.” Now a bit of relief for those impacted most. On Sunday, the U.S. received its first plane-load of baby formula from Germany, as the Biden administration continues to try and resolve the shortage. “It is a large shipment of very specific and specialized formula,” said Tom Vilsack, the secretary of agriculture. “Formula for moms and dads for children who have allergies, where the regular formula just simply will...

Eight teams have two picks in the first round of the NFL draft, which begins April 28, creating the possibility for more movement after a flurry of trades involving top selections. With one-fourth of the league holding an extra selection on Day 1 and without elite quarterbacks in the class, it makes for an interesting projection of how things could go. The Chicago Bears are included in the cluster of teams without a first-round pick. The New York Giants own their selection — at No. 7 — as part of the trade-up to draft quarterback Justin Fields last year. Here is a mock draft through both second-round picks owned by the Bears. The only thing Republican states have become more zealous about than voter suppression is banning abortion. The Trump-packed Supreme Court’s upholding of the Texas vigilante law has helped create a wave of state action to force people to carry unwanted pregnancies, or find alternative means of terminating them. As of March 25, legislators in 41 states introduced 525 bills to restrict abortion. Four states—Idaho, Indiana, South Dakota, and Wyoming—have enacted a total of eight new restrictions. Thirteen states have trigger laws ready to outlaw abortion the minute the Supreme Court issues a ruling to toss Roe v. Wade. Planned Parenthood and the blue states are preparing to step up as well. In Illinois, at the Missouri border, Planned Parenthood and the Hope Clinic for Women had already been at work providing care to pregnant people from Missouri and southern states unable to access abortion. Since the Supreme Court allowed the Texas law to stand, theose abortion rights advocates stepped up the game. They’ve created a call center where they will help patients arrange for travel, lodging, child care, and funding for the procedure—whatever it takes...

High school students studying in some of California's largest school districts will no longer be given a D or F grade for poor work, and will instead be allowed to take the tests or complete the work again. The new system has been introduced due to the pandemic, with supporters arguing that it reduces the stress levels for already-traumatized and unsettled students. Proponents say it will particularly help black, Latino and lower-income students, who have statistically been disproportionately affected by pandemic upheaval to school routines. Critics say that it dumbs down education, leaving students unequipped to cope with the harsh realities of the modern world. The scheme was first reported at the beginning of this month by Ed Source. (CNN)It's midafternoon, and suddenly you can't stop yawning. Your eyelids may begin to droop -- not great if you happen to be in a meeting -- or maybe your brain becomes a little fuzzy and unable to focus. This period of decreased alertness is called the afternoon slump, and it's something most of us have experienced. While the afternoon slump could be caused by insufficient or poor quality sleep, it's part of our normal sleep-wake cycle. It's also tied to the amount of cortisol in our bodies. Levels of this hormone, which helps us respond to stress, among other things, typically are higher in the morning and fall throughout the day. There are many tips for beating the afternoon slump, such as eating healthy foods (no candy bars), drinking plenty of water, listening to music and even aromatherapy. But one of the most effective ways to stay alert and on task is to get moving. And the sooner, the better, said Tansy Rodgers, a functional nutritional therapy practitioner and founder of beU Complete coaching in Lititz, Pennsylvania. "The afternoon slump...

(CNN)There are few golfers more in form than Patrick Cantlay at the moment. The 29-year-old is fresh off the back of winning the BMW Championship last week -- his third Tour victory of the year -- and headed into the PGA Tour Championship with a 2-stroke lead this week. But while excitement builds around him, Cantlay is staying calm and focused on the job at hand. It's an attitude that, in tandem with his steady hand on the green, has earned him the nickname "Patty Ice." "I think it's great. I think it's maybe trying to say something very large but speaks to a small little truth about me," he tells CNN Sport's Don Riddell.Read More"If the fans want to call me that, I think it's great. A Republican representative from Oklahoma said on Wednesday that he is coming home from Georgia after failing to get assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan to rescue a family from Afghanistan by helicopter. Congressman Markwayne Mullin, 44, announced along with a selfie on Instagram: 'I am heading home.' 'Am I extremely disappointed in how we (United States) left Americans behind… that would be an understatement,' Mullin wrote in his Wednesday post. 'President Biden and his administration are absolutely lying to the American people about Americans and our friends being left behind.' 'So many great Americans, many who are Veterans and many who are not, are stepping up to keep our promise,' he added.  'We will never leave an American behind.' At least 100 American citizens seeking evacuation from Afghanistan were left behind as Joe Biden felt it was more important to stick to the August 31 troop withdrawal deadline rather than keep forces in the country to help get U.S. citizens out safely.  Oklahoma Representative Markwayne Mullin announced on Instagram Wednesday that he is 'heading home' from Georgia...
(CNN)As a busy parent, I spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for my family. I'm fortunate that my husband also enjoys making meals, which serves as a natural division of culinary labor. But what I've come to realize -- especially during our 1,000-plus consecutive meals eaten at home during the pandemic -- is that kids can be wonderful culinary assistants. What's more, the ability for children to cultivate cooking skills in the comfort of their own kitchens can be a useful and empowering learning experience they'll carry into adulthood.A challenging but rewarding roleAs a mom of two young girls, I've found that teaching kids how to prepare meals -- while it comes with its challenges -- has also been one of my most rewarding and enjoyable experiences as a parent. My daughters have watched me in the kitchen since they were toddlers -- basically since they could eat mashed avocado. That's my first bit of advice: start early. Allowing your children to observe you cooking and involving them in simple food prep...

Teen Mom 2s Kailyn Lowrys Quotes About Expanding Her Family Over the Years U.S. business inventories climb 0.8% in June The New York Giants were decent in 2020, relatively speaking.  Not much was expected of the Giants. But at one point, they won four in a row to get in the (admittedly awful) NFC East race. They faded down the stretch but Joe Judge's first season as coach wasn't that bad despite a 6-10 record.  The key is taking the next step, and there are questions that need to be answered for that to happen. Particularly at quarterback.  © Provided by Yahoo! Sports Quarterback Daniel Jones tries to lead the Giants to the playoffs. (AP Photo/John Munson) Giants win total: 7.5 Two years into Daniel Jones' career, we can't be certain how good he is. He was promising as a rookie and did not play that well last season. It didn't help that Saquon Barkley missed almost the entire season.  If the Giants are going to improve, Jones' next step has to be a forward one. The Giants signed...
IF you hate exercise, you’ll be glad to know a study has shown four-second bursts could help you lose weight. Researchers asked 11 healthy people in their 20s to do a four-second based workout over eight weeks. 1Researchers got participants to do four-second exercise bursts on a bikeCredit: Alamy The only catch is they needed to do the four-seconds of maximum intensity exercise for 30 rounds. But between each round is a 30 second rest, so there is barely enough time to get out of breath. All together it’s just 120 seconds (two minutes) of active exercising. The participants did the workout three times a week, amounting to just ten minutes a week, for eight weeks in total. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin tested the volunteers’ VO2 max, which is the ability for muscles to extract oxygen from the air you breathe. It’s a marker of fitness, as people who are highly active tend to have a better score than those who are sedentary.  Most read in Diet & FitnessNAILING IT The 5 things your TOENAILS can reveal...
The Federal Aviation Administration is urging airports to monitor sales of alcohol in terminal bars and wants to ban 'to-go' drinks to try and curb the surge in unruly passengers on flights.  The FAA has initiated a crackdown with airlines encountering a rising number of violent and disruptive passengers as more Americans start flying again.  FAA Administrator Steve Dickson said: 'Our investigations show that alcohol often contributes to this unsafe behavior.' He asked airports to 'work with their concessionaires to help avoid this.'  The United States has seen a significant jump in reported cases of passengers causing disturbances on airplanes, including many for refusing to wear face masks. New York-based Synchron announced Wednesday that it has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin clinical trials of its Stentrode motor neuroprosthesis. SAITAMA, Japan (AP) — Damian Lillard was nearly flat on his back, trying to save a possession the U.S. couldn’t afford to lose. He not only couldn’t recover the ball after slipping but made matters even worse when he extended his leg and inadvertently tripped up France’s Evan Fournier, getting called for an unsportsmanlike foul. Lillard’s stumble with 17 seconds left was one of the lasting images of the Americans’ 83-76 loss in their Olympic opener. Now, just like its guard after that fall, the U.S. has to pick itself back up again. “I think we are more than capable of doing it,” Lillard said. Lillard and Bam Adebayo have already proven they can rise again after disappointment with the national team. Both were cut in previous attempts to wear the red, white and blue but have returned to become two of the most important players on this year’s team. They both were in the starting lineup Sunday and Adebayo was one of the Americans’ best players, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds. It was a strong...

Royal experts fear Prince Harry is 'still very unwell' because he is 'stuck' in the past and talking 'so negatively' about the trauma of his early life. The Duke of Sussex dropped another bombshell on the Royal Family as he sat down for a series of interviews with Oprah Winfrey on his new AppleTV+ show, The Me You Can't See. A series of startling claims were made, including that Charles made him 'suffer' as a child and that The Firm tried to 'bully him', refusing to let him leave.  At one point he speaks to a therapist and is filmed having a form of therapy known as EMDR - known as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.  Harry is seen comforting himself with a series of movements such as closing his eyes and crossing his arms while remembering events in his past.  But royal biographer Angela Levin admitted she felt uncomfortable watching the clips, feeling it was an invasion of privacy, and claiming he was struggling to find closure after five years of treatment. Prince Harry carries out movements such as...
