If you plan to go for a real Christmas tree this year, then keep reading. Gardening expert, Monty Don has revealed the one place you should never put it if you want it to last the festive season. 1Monty Don revealed the one place you should never put your Christmas treeCredit: Alamy Taking to his blog, Monty Don revealed the best way to care for your Christmas tree. The usual varieties of Christmas trees include the Norway Spruce (picea abies), the Nordman Fir (Abies nordmanniana,) or the Colorado Spruce (picea pungens) reports the Express. He said: “All three are very good, have specific virtues and can last for a long Christmas season if looked after properly. “All three will also grow in most gardens if they are bought with healthy roots and planted carefully as soon as possible after Christmas.” The gardening expert advised buying one with roots even if you don't plan to plant it and to get a large container to put it in. He added you should fill the container with either sharp sand or compost and...
The Democratic National Committee’s rule-making arm has selected South Carolina to lead off its 2024 presidential primaries at President Joe Biden’s urging, but he probably would have preferred they made the change four years earlier. Biden stumbled out of the gate early in 2020, finishing fourth in Iowa, fifth in New Hampshire, and a very distant second in Nevada, trailing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) by over 16 points. Then he won the South Carolina primary by a landslide, regained his front-runner status, and never looked back. That’s not how the change is being sold, of course. South Carolina is a contest where black voters have a much bigger impact than in Iowa. REPUBLICANS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY AND SHOULDN’T WASTE IT “Just like my administration, the Democratic Party has worked hard to reflect the diversity of America — but our nominating process does not," Biden wrote in a letter to Democrats ahead of the vote. "For fifty years, the first month of our presidential nominating process has been a treasured part of our democratic process, but it is time to...
DEAR HARRIETTE: My parents have become very unpleasant in their old age. I try to visit them as often as I can, but their attitudes these past few visits have made them increasingly harder to be around. I stayed with them for only five days, and on the third day, they were bickering and moping. I feel terrible for not wanting to spend as much time around them, but I really can’t stand the negativity. How do I deal with this? Unpleasant Parents DEAR UNPLEASANT PARENTS: Is it possible for you to visit with them but stay at a nearby hotel? Sometimes it is helpful to keep some distance between you and your parents. In that way, you may be able to visit longer without being overwhelmed. Because their behavior has changed, you should do some sleuthing. What is going on with them as a couple and with them individually? Are there health concerns of which you are unaware? Are they suffering any mental degeneration? Are they forgetful? How clean is their home? Are they able to manage independently? Sometimes...
Radio host Dean Obeidallah ripped into both Elon Musk and neo-Nazi Andrew Anglin, who owes him millions of dollars, on MSNBC Friday night when asked by Joy Reid to react to Musk allowing Anglin back on Twitter. “Okay. So he takes Kanye off, but he puts the Nazi back on. You happen to know this guy named Anglin? He’s a Nazis’ Nazi. He’s the guy who’s the head of the Daily Stormer. We don’t know where he is in the world, but doesn’t he owe you money?” Reid asked Dean on her show the ReidOut. “He owes me $4.1 million because I got a judgment against him because in 2017 he fabricated tweets to saying I was involved in terrorism because I wrote an article denouncing Donald Trump for not denouncing white supremacy, and that was before Charlottesville,” Obeidallah replied. “Andrew Anglin wrote in the Daily Stormer, which is named after Hitler’s favorite publication, called Der Sturmer, fabricated these tweets and said, ‘Go confront Dean,’” he continued, adding: So, I got a ton of death threats and I stood up...
Since mid-July, people experiencing a mental health crisis across the country have been able to punch three numbers into their phone — 9-8-8 — and reach counselors trained to help. Anyone with a working phone or internet service can call, text or start an online chat for assistance with crises ranging from suicidal thoughts to drug addiction. Policymakers launched 988 with big goals in mind. The aim is to eventually provide people seeking help with someone to call and, if needed, in-person response and a place to go — all without unnecessarily involving police. The Times is examining the rollout of the 988 system in Los Angeles County. We are analyzing early data to identify what is and isn’t working for those in need of help. Of course, numbers and stats can’t convey how people experience the service, arguably the most important measurement of its success. That’s where you come in. We want to hear about your experience calling the crisis line, including 988 and the former Lifeline number (1-800-273-8255). We know this is sensitive information. Your name and other...
President Joe Biden made a pitch for reelecting Sen. Raphael Warnock saying he can't think of 'anything' the Georgia Democrat hadn't backed him on – in remarks Republicans immediately tried to throw back at him. Biden made the comment while visiting a phone bank in Massachusetts by members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He made the case for Warnock as a party loyalist – while questioning the 'veracity' of Walker, who has suffered a series of scandals including public clashes over whether he paid for abortions with women who say he did.   'I can't think of anything he hasn't voted for – with us,' Biden said, praising Warnock, who is engaged in a tight runoff against Donald Trump-backed Walker. 'There may be something,' Biden riffed. 'I know it's a problem because they're running against him saying he votes 98 per cent of the time with Joe Biden – I wouldn't tell them that on the phone,' he joked. The Republican National Committee sent around the clip.  U.S. President Joe Biden takes part in an International Brotherhood of Electrical...
Andy Cohen said Meghan Markle was 'gleeful' at getting to publicly throw it 'in his face' that he'd forgotten ever meeting her before she became a royal during an 'awkward interaction' on the latest episode of her podcast this week.  The Watch What Happens Live host, 54, appeared on Tuesday's episode of Markle's Archetypes, during which he introduced himself to her, saying it was 'nice to meet her', only for the Duchess to 'happily' remind him that they'd actually met twice in the past.  Now, in an episode of his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live, the TV producer has joked that Markle threw the slip-up 'in his face', while hinting that he considered her something of a 'whatever' person when they met for the first time.  'She was gleeful in telling me, I have to say. She was so happy to tell me that,' he said, but added: 'I understand why she would want to throw that in my face, basically.  'I understand, you know, you never forget how you were treated. You're still the same person – she's still Meghan...
A MAGA fund that invests in firms supporting GOP values is outperforming the woke ESG funds that the Biden administration wants 401(k)s to invest in.  Point Bridge Capital, which goes by the ticker MAGA, was found to be doing 15 percent better than ESG Funds and 13 percent better than the S&P 500 so far this year, according to a a Bloomberg analysis.  The company, which holds $1.45 billion in assets, stands on the opposite end of the political spectrum to ESG funds, which focus investments on principles of environmental, social and corporate governance.  MAGA fund founder Hal Lambert, a former portfolio manager at Credit Suisse and JP Morgan who worked on Donald Trump's inaugural committee, said his fund has been successful because it isn't bogged down by 'woke nonsense.'  Speaking to DailyMail.com, Lambert blasted ESGs as a United Nations-backed movement to embed socialist values into America's corporations.  'The movement is not based on investment principles,' Lambert said. 'They’re pushing it to change the culture of corporate America that will ultimately hurt investors.'  He also warned that the end goal...
For the first time since arriving in Doha I feared for my safety. Yesterday, I saw the ugly side to this World Cup, a side that involved censorship and intimidation - which nearly led to my arrest. I was outside the Al Janoub stadium ahead of Ghana vs Uruguay. I had been told that at previous Ghana games, free tickets had been handed out to supporters before the security gates. About an hour before kick-off, Ghana fans began to form queues, with a group of men directing them into three separate lines.  This queue broke up several times, with fans pushing and shoving each other. There was no sign of security at this point. I started film what was happening. I was told that the fans were waiting for a government official to arrive and ‘share the tickets’, as he had allegedly done at the previous two games.
Madness has gripped America's most powerful. Their demented impulse to control public discourse has been apparent for some time, but in recent weeks it has become too grotesque. Washington politicians, ideologically captured journalists, Hollywood celebrities and Silicon Valley tech oligarchs have exposed themselves to be members of an anti-free speech cabal. Their trigger is Elon Musk. How else to explain the unhinged reaction to an idea that just a few years ago would have been seen as so uncontroversial it would barely have been worth stating: that Americans should be free to express their views - on any subject - without censorship. Isn't that, in many ways, the whole point of America? Doesn't it serve as the foundation of democracy? Apparently not. America's most powerful have been triggered by Elon Musk, who believes that people should be free to express their views President Joe Biden has called for an investigation into Musk -- a private citizen, who raised suspicion for saying he wants to guarantee freedom of expression. 'I think that Elon Musk's cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is...
President Joe Biden took on anti-Semitic rapper Kanye West in a tweet Friday and said political leaders who did not condemn his hateful rhetoric were complicit.  'I just want to make a few things clear: The Holocaust happened. Hitler was a demonic figure,' Biden said in a midday tweet. 'And instead of giving it a platform, our political leaders should be calling out and rejecting antisemitism wherever it hides.'  'Silence is complicity,' the president added.  Biden's tweet comes a day after West said he 'likes' and 'loves' Hitler,' defended the Nazis and denied the Holocaust - and 10 days after West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes dined with former President Donald Trump at his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate. Joe Biden wants to make South Carolina - the state that gave him the Democratic nomination - the first in the process that decides the party's presidential nominee, a move that would benefit him in the 2024 election. Such a move would cause a massive shakeup in the way Democrats choose their presidential nominee, elevating a state whose Democratic voters are largely black. The new calendar would also turn Iowa into a complete outcast. The state, which normally has the number two slot, is made up of mostly white voters and experienced embarrassing problems tabulating results in 2020. One of the biggest beneficiaries of the new system would be Biden himself, should he face a primary challenge. Some Democrats have expressed concerns about his age - Biden is 80 - and have called for the next generation of leadership to take charge. Biden has said he intends to run for a second term, but, if he does not, the new calendar would have a ripple effect on the other possible contenders, including Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and Gretchen Whitmer. Edwin Diaz wanted the Mets to come to him “quick” to talk about a new contract. The Mets talked to him as soon as they could and the process went so smoothly that they were able to lock up the best closer in baseball for another five years just hours after he became a free agent. Speaking with the media Thursday about the record $102 million contract, Diaz and general manager Billy Eppler said the two were on the same page right away. Diaz and his family wanted to remain in New York. They’ve come to love the city over the past four seasons and Diaz respected the way the Mets treated him. The Mets wanted to lock up their best bullpen piece before bringing in a new crop of relievers. “With Edwin, it came together — like he said — pretty quickly because we have the ability to talk early,” Eppler said on a Zoom call. “And because there was clear interest on both sides to make this happen. I did touch base with a number of our other...
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Jaap Stam believes a fellow ex-Red Devils star needs to be brought back to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag has made a positive start to life in England, guiding Man Utd to fifth place in the Premier League table prior to the World Cup break. 3Erik ten Hag has made a good start to life in the Premier LeagueCredit: Rex 3Jaap Stam believes the return of a legend could help Man Utd compete for the titleCredit: AP But they remain a way off challenging for the title - which they have not won since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. And Stam, who won the treble with United in 1999, believes a former colleague of Ten Hag's could help the club return to the glory years. Legendary Man Utd keeper Edwin van der Sar, 52, has been on the board at Ajax since 2016. He worked superbly with Ten Hag during the Dutch manager's time with the Eredivisie giants. And Stam, 50, feels the addition of Van der Sar - currently Ajax's chief executive -...
Newburgh Senator James Skoufis (D) told the Post, “Many of the deportations that occur in New York State are because an undocumented individual commits an underlying crime unrelated to their immigration and is subsequently flagged by ICE.” “It is particularly concerning that this bill extends public funds to these situations that would potentially keep dangerous people in New York State,” the senator added. The bill would cover legal defense costs for any incarcerated immigrant, regardless of the criminal convictions that initiated their removal proceedings. Republican Assembly Minority Leader William Barclay of Pulaski stated, “Democrats’ complete failure on border security and immigration shouldn’t result in a $300 million tax on New Yorkers.” “Last year, New York City’s radical Democrats wanted non-citizens to vote in local elections,” Barclay continued. “Now they expect the public to spend hundreds of millions to provide free deportation lawyers. Their political statements do not need to be contained in the state spending plan.”
SEVEN in 10 consumers want to ‘shake things up’ this Christmas - because they’re bored of the same old festive traditions. A poll of 2,000 adults who celebrate Yuletide found those keen for change are in favour of ditching turkey, introducing new party games, and even spending the special day abroad. 2This year, Brits want to shake up traditionsCredit: Getty Year after year, 58 per cent eat the same foods, 66 per cent celebrate with the same people, and 50 per cent decorate their homes the same way every year. Other ‘tweaks’ include listening to more festive music than usual, freshening up their selection decorations, and dressing more casually – including spending all day in their PJs if they want to. However, the research by Tenderstem found 60 per cent feel obliged to stick to tradition and are apprehensive about change as a result - despite a strong desire to do something different this year. Exactly a quarter admit they adhere to old ways to appease certain relatives, while 54 per cent feel breaking from the norm is somehow ‘wrong’....

Top allies of Donald Trump were so disturbed by his decision to have dinner with white supremacist Nick Fuentes last week that the ex-president and 2024 GOP candidate will now have a handler with him around the clock. The Associated Press also reports the campaign has also changed the protocols for visitors and will start to vet guests who come to see Trump, after the few procedures in place allowed antisemite Kanye West to bring along three guests. “In an acknowledgment of the severity of the backlash and an effort to prevent a repeat, Trump’s campaign is putting new protocols in place to ensure that those who meet with him are approved and fully vetted, according to people familiar with the plans who requested anonymity to share internal strategy,” the AP adds, revealing the campaign apparently does not trust the 76-year old ex-president to make decisions about who he should or should not spend time with. The AP does not define “fully vetted,” but importantly the Trump White House had such a horrific track record of vetting nominees even GOP...

The Italian outlet has reported that the club are open to the idea of cashing in on the striker. Chelsea are believed to have a buy-back clause in his contract worth £68million, twice the amount Roma paid for him. However, the report suggests that it is unlikely that a return to Stamford Bridge is on the cards for the 25-year-old. Villa could be a potential destination for Abraham as the report states: "Aston Villa takes care of it concretely, also because only in the Premier League can they afford an important engagement like Tammy's". Chinese officials and diplomats used the humiliating American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 to portray the U.S. as an unreliable international partner and a 'declining power,' according to a Pentagon report released on Tuesday. The report — an annual review of Chinese military capabilities — also says Beijing is rapidly expanding its nuclear arsenal, and is on track to have 1500 warheads by 2035, nearly quadruple the number it has now. It is part of an effort to strengthen the nation by 2049, the centenary of the communist takeover, and 'revise the international order.' Its release comes two weeks after President Joe Biden met with China's Xi Jinping on the sidelines the Group of 20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, as they sought to repair fractured relations.  And it describes how the People's Republic of China sought to capitalize on Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan. 'In 2021, the PRC employed multiple diplomatic tools in an attempt to erode U.S. and partner influence, such as highlighting the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and criticizing U.S.-backed security partnerships,' the Department of Defense concluded.  The withdrawal of...

The Biden administration wants to send in a multinational force to Haiti to quell the months of gang-related violence and chaos ravaging the island nation, but other nations are hesitant to get on board.  Worried that the humanitarian crisis will further spur migration to the U.S.-Mexico border, Biden officials have implored other nations to form a multinational force to send into Haiti, where many regions are run by gangs and gunfire goes off all hours of the day. The unrest spiraled after Haiti's president was assassinated in July - 96,000 have fled Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince due to gang violence.  But, the U.S. does not want its own troops included in the force, officials told the New York Times. American military leaders have emphasized they do not want to be dragged into a foreign mission that would require significant time and resources.  Haiti's government took the extreme step of requesting the armed foreign intervention last month, despite harboring deep resentment at past foreign interventions.  People displaced by gang war violence in Cite Soleil rest on the streets of Delmas neighborhood...

The Jacksonville, Florida native supported former President Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020, but now, following the 2022 midterms, Boone is hoping that Trump won’t be the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee. During an interview with the Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove published on November 29, Boone said, “If Trump were to ask my advice, I would ask him not to run…. I don’t think there are enough Republicans who would vote for him so he could be elected. But he was his own worst enemy in his manner and his speech. And he made so many enemies that, while he could be a great president again if he muted his speech and all of that — which I’m not sure he’s capable of — I would advise him, ‘Please don’t run. I think you will divide the Republican Party even more.’...
The USA team will have woken up on Saturday morning in Qatar feeling really good. With their World Cup fate in their own hands, they are exactly where they want to be. They know they played really well against England - a favorite of the tournament and one of the leading teams in regard to global media interest. USMNT will be getting a lot of good coverage around the world right now. I would imagine training on Saturday with the players who didn't play would have been really good, really competitive as they try to get into this team that is performing well. Things will be really upbeat and happy and people will be full of confidence.  Gregg Berhalter made a fantastic call by going to a midfield four with Christian Pulisic on the left and Weston McKennie on the right. I don't think anybody expected that and the shape made it hard for England to attack. But as he puts the finishing touches to his plans for Iran, where nothing but a victory against Iran will do, I anticipate...
Plans for Republicans to investigate Hunter Biden's foreign business interests meet with the approval of some 62 percent of likely U.S. voters, according to poll published on Monday. The telephone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports for Miranda Devine, a columnist and author of 'Laptop from Hell' about Biden's computer, found some 42 percent strongly approved of a likely House G.O.P. probe into his overseas deals. Many Republicans promised investigations of the president's son and his business dealings during the midterm election campaign, in which they took control of the lower chamber. And Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who is in expected to chair the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), in line to take over the Oversight Committee, recently held a news conference laying out their plans for probes.  The president has long denied any knowledge of his son's foreign dealings - some of which are being investigated by federal authorities.  But the survey of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters on November 22 found that such claims did not get far with the public. Plans for Republicans to investigate Hunter Biden's...
Mike McDaniel wanted a day before the narrative shifted from the Miami Dolphins’ Sunday win over the Houston Texans to the week ahead and facing his former team, the San Francisco 49ers. OK, a day has passed. Looking ahead, McDaniel will face his longtime mentor, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, and the team in San Francisco, where McDaniel spent the past five seasons with as an offensive assistant, rising to the offensive coordinator role in 2021 before landing Miami’s head coaching gig. “I promise you that next week will not be about me,” McDaniel said after the 30-15 win Sunday. “I refuse for that to happen. This is about the Miami Dolphins and trying to string another win together.” Rest assured, the media will make it about McDaniel. Sure, the Dolphins (8-3) seeking a sixth straight win and facing another division leader in the 49ers (7-4), who sit atop the NFC West, brings enough juice on its own merit. However, the major storyline for the week ahead will still surround McDaniel. In his first year as a head coach, he looks...
Getty Lakers stars Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook Leaders on the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly made a final decision on if they want the front office to make a trade. Dave McMenamin reported on November 28 there is belief shared by leaders in the Lakers’ locker room that the team is only a couple of players away from turning this group into a legitimate contender. Los Angeles is 7-11 on the season, three games out of the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. “There is belief shared by leaders in the Lakers’ locker room, sources said, that the team is only a couple of players away from turning this group into a legitimate contender,” McMenamin reported. “But acquiring the right players could take multiple trades.” Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka decided that giving up the team’s 2027 and 2029 first-round picks was too steep a price to pay to acquire Myles Turner and Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers before training camp started, per McMenamin. The proposed trade,...
"We have a voice now, and we're going to do this in an accountable way, with transparency to the American people," said McCaul. "These are American taxpayer dollars doing in." Rep. Mike Turner, the ranking Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, indicated funding will no longer be included in "Democrat bills," whereby assistance for the Slavic nation is contingent upon Democrats getting what they want in the way of domestic funding for their pet projects. "We don't need to pass $40 billion, large Democrat bills ... to send $8 billion to Ukraine," Turner told ABC's "This Week." Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) suggested that oversight has been long been regarded as necessary for weapons shipments to countries far less corrupt than Ukraine. According to Transparency International’s 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index, Ukraine ranked 122nd out of 180 countries. Waltz said, "With the volumes of goods that we're pushing, it's our responsibility to have third-party oversight. We do it all over the world." On Nov. 17, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), and other Republican lawmakers held...
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid removed Skyy Moore from his special teams role in a win over the Los Angeles Rams, but that change may not be permanent. Skyy Moore has struggled on special teams this year, which isn’t a role he’s necessarily used to from his time at Western Michigan. From Kansas City’s point of view, it’s a way to get Moore the ball in his hands, where he can be dynamic at times. Moore is just starting to find his footing in the Chiefs offense, and develop trust with Patrick Mahomes. Yet, Reid and special teams coordinator Dave Toub seem determined to keep him in a special teams role he struggles with. On Sunday, Moore fumbled again, leading Reid to try a new punt returner. When asked whether that change is permanent, Reid was non-commital. “We’ll see. That wasn’t a very good showing for him,” Reid said, per Adam Teicher of ESPN. Chiefs fans want Skyy Moore removed from special teamsSkyy Moore is a talented wide receiver, and he’s finally starting to make an impact in...
Singer Mariah Carey has been called out by fans after a viral video shows her using a teleprompter to remember the lyrics to her hit song All I Want for Christmas. The 52-year-old songstress made her return to the 96th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, closing out the show with her hit Christmas song. She pulled off an elaborate festive performance  surrounded by dancers in matching marching attire and her twins Moroccan and Monroe, 11 - which officially rang in the holiday season in New York and across the US.  But a TikToker, Sydney Barinas (Mohr), who was at the parade, noticed that a giant screen — out of view from the cameras, but directly in Carey's line of sight — displayed the lyrics as Carey sang and decided to post the spectacle online Friday. 'Yes, Mariah Carey is using a teleprompter for lyrics of her most famous song at Macy's Thanksgiving Parade,' she captioned the video, which has since been viewed more than 5.6 million times.  The video came just one day after the singer — who has dubbed herself...
Mariah Carey closed out the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, performing her 1994 hit All I Want for Christmas — but not without a little help. On Thursday, just before Santa Claus officially ushered in the holiday season, Carey performed what’s widely considered the most popular Christmas song of all time. The singer, 52, was flanked by a crew of dancers, including her own children Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon, as she stood atop a giant star. merry christmas from mariah carey! pic.twitter.com/QZ3xpojpgw — Vulture (@vulture) November 24, 2022 But one perspective the television cameras didn’t show you was the helpful aid used by Carey: a giant teleprompter with the lyrics to her own song. TikToker Sydney Barinas (Mohr) uploaded the now viral video on Friday and quickly garnered over 5.4 million views. The video shows Carey’s viewpoint of the performance as she stared into various cameras, crew members, with a large teleprompter propped up in the middle, scrolling through the songs lyrics. The song was originally released in 1994 on the singer’s fourth studio album and...
watch nowVIDEO10:2910:29ETF Edge, November 21, 2022ETF Edge 'Tis the season for shopping — and maybe for some investors: ETFs. Despite consumer headwinds tied to the economic slowdown, Amplify ETFs' Brian Giere sees opportunities in retail. "We are expecting continued outperformance or record growth in online specifically," the firms' head of national accounts told CNBC's "ETF Edge" last week. Giere oversees the Amplify Online Retail ETF, which trades under the IBUY. Its largest holdings include Etsy, eBay and Chewy, which were classic stay-at-home trades during the lockdowns. "A lot of the companies in our IBUY ETF have gotten caught up in some of the growth sell-off especially this year, post-2020," Giere said. "But the story holds, and I think the trend is there. Shoppers' habits have changed permanently from the pandemic." Giere speculates consumers will use brick-and-mortar stores as showrooms for merchandise they're interested in buying. Then, he sees them heading online to to find the best deals. "Their price consciousness is going to win out," he said. "That's where we think the online store is going to continue to show...
Vitapix | E+ | Getty Images While couples might sign a prenuptial agreement before they're married and a "post-nup" after, it's more than just the timing that differentiates these arrangements, experts say. "It's a whole different ballgame once you're married," said Martin Shenkman, estate attorney with Shenkman Law in New York City. "With a pre-nup, you have no obligation to a spouse," he explained. "With a post-nup, once you're married, you have a legal and fiduciary obligation to your spouse." Shenkman emphasized that it's important to check what your state law allows.More from Life Changes:Here's a look at other stories offering a financial angle on important lifetime milestones. The Mets have made no secret of their desire to build a “sustainable winner.” If you’ve been paying attention to sports around the New York area over the last few years, then you’ve probably heard other teams cite the same term as well. The Rangers hope their top prospect pool will produce more All-Stars en route to winning their first Stanley Cup championship since 1994. The Devils may finally be nearing the end of their long rebuild with a team built around two young centers in Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier. The Yankees built a team that reached the ALCS in 2017 around the “Baby Bombers.” Player development is the foundation of sustainability, so throughout the offseason, we’ll be looking at how a modern farm system is built and the changes the Mets have made at the development level in recent years. It’s tough to quantify exactly what makes a good farm system and how to build one since different teams implement different systems, processes and philosophies, but the successful teams are often emulated so it’s worth exploring. Let’s start...

by John Hugh DeMastri   Lawmakers and agricultural groups are racing to pass a bill that would alter the number and length of farmworker visas before the newly-elected GOP majority takes control of the House in January, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.  The House bill would create 20,000 three-year H-2A visas permitting year-round work, and provide a path to citizenship for approximately one million farmworkers currently living in the U.S. illegally, according to the WSJ. Currently, H-2A visas only allow workers to remain in the country for up to 10 months, which has caused issues for some farms, such as dairy farms, that require workers year-round. Despite requiring that farmers use an electronic verification system to ensure their workers are legally able to work in the U.S., a longtime Republican ask, the bill lacks provisions to strengthen the border, something that is expected to sink the legislation when the GOP gains control of the House, the WSJ reported. Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, expected to be the next speaker of the House, has said that “a bill to control the...

President Joe Biden on Saturday refused to comment on Donald Trump's impromptu dinner with Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and disgraced rapper Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago. 'You don't want to know what I think,' he said in response to DailyMail.com's question while he was out shopping on Nantucket with wife Jill and daughter Ashley. Biden, who is spending the Thanksgiving holiday on the island, was out for Small Business Saturday. He visited at least nine stores in the more than hour he spent walking around the downtown shopping area. Trump caused an outrage - even among some Republicans - when it was revealed he had dinner with Fuentes, described as an alt-right figure and a 'white supremacist,' at his Palm Beach home. Ye, as the rapper West goes by now, was also present. The White House earlier weighed in on the matter, with spokesman Andrew Bates saying: 'Bigotry, hate, and antisemitism have absolutely no place in America - including at Mar-A-Lago. Holocaust denial is repugnant and dangerous, and it must be forcefully condemned.' President Joe Biden refused to comment on Donald Trump's impromptu...
