Chicago Cubs closer David Robertson knows what awaits the next four weeks. Robertson, in his 14th big-league season, has been on the move ahead of the trade deadline once before and has seen plenty of teammates come and go during this month throughout the years. With the Aug. 2 trade deadline a month away, the Cubs will again be sellers. Robertson, who does not have trade protections in his contract, is expected to be on the move. “That’s the way it goes,” Robertson told the Tribune this week. “You never know how many people you’re going to run through in a season. The trade stuff is above my pay grade. It’s uncontrollable for me. So, I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything yet.” Robertson likely won’t be the only Cub jettisoned by Aug. 2. The clubhouse will look different four weeks from now, a familiar position after one-third of the 2021 opening day roster was dealt before last year’s trade deadline. Trade talks will heat up in the coming weeks. With that in mind, here’s a look at which Cubs...

NO matter how much we think we prepare for the birth of our baby, it’s impossible to know every single detail involved in the birthing process.  The same can’t be said for our midwives though who are there to help guide mums along the way with these little-known tips and tricks.  4A midwife has revealed some things they do when delivery a baby that most new mums are unaware ofCredit: Alamy Last month, we shared how new mum Shelby claimed her newborn smelled like shampoo before he'd even had a bath.  She was left stunned when she was told the reason why, and in a video shared on TikTok explained that the midwives “use it as lube.” It’s not a method used in all hospitals though,  and midwives often have their own unique ways of helping mums through labour and birth.  Odette Abououf, consulting independent midwife and co-founder of wellbeing range Mummy’s Organics, explained: “Your midwife may feel that your perineum is not stretching around your baby’s head.  “She may decide to use a lubricant or gently stretch your perineum...

SOCIAL Security, like most money matters, can be complicated. In order to maximize your benefit, it is important to understand the factors impacting how much of your Social Security benefit is paid to you. 1There are three important considerations for individuals preparing to collect Social Security benefits Before reviewing your own situation, you should know how the Social Security Administration (SSA) determines a worker's benefit. To figure out the retirement benefits owed to a worker, the SSA uses a calculation based on that worker's 35 highest earning years. The earliest workers are able to start collecting benefits is age 62. For every year a worker chooses to receive benefits that falls between age 62 and their full retirement age (FRA), the benefit paid to them goes down. Your FRA is between 66 and 67, depending on when you were born.  On the other hand, if you wait until reaching FRA, you are eligible to receive 100% of the benefits you earned. For every year after FRA that you wait, until age 70, your benefits will increase...
Trevor Noah piled on Joe Rogan this week, even though he derided people who dug up his old jokes a few years back. That doesn’t absolve Rogan, but listen to the interview anyway. Joe Rogan doesn’t need absolution, anyway. It’s weird how Rogan fans keep trying to downplay or diminish the importance of Rogan’s n-word compilation tape — THAT ROGAN APOLOGIZED FOR. The guy you’re defending has already said he fucked up! Did he apologize well? That’s for the audience to decide. The formats in which it is marginally permissible for a non-Black person to say the n-word — when directly quoting someone else, when singing along to NWA, when discussing the word itself — have shifted over the decades, but it’s never been universally accepted in any of those contexts. But Rogan at least acknowledged he sees the harm now. His apology for the time he compared a Black neighborhood to the Planet of the Apes was pure nonsense: I was telling a story in the podcast about how me and my friend Tommy and his girlfriend, we got...

Biden's memoir, Beautiful Things, went on sale on April 6, with the 51-year-old paid what some believe could be a $2 million advance. The F1 pre-season testing period is nearly upon us now, and fans just cannot wait for the upcoming season. As always, Red Bull Racing will be one of the frontline contenders to usurp the throne currently held by Mercedes. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit have been hard at work over the winter developing the right formula for their 2021 challenger that is the RB16B. Everything Red Bull unveiled from their 2021 launch was of an old car, says Chandhok Building on that, Sky Sports F1 pundit Karun Chandhok is of the opinion that Red Bull have been quite ‘secretive’ about their updates for this coming season. He stated, “Are Red Bull going to pick up where they left off in Abu Dhabi? Max was frankly dominant, it was a brilliant win and Red Bull were coming on strong.” “They’ve got a new gearbox for 2021, which they’ve kept very secret. In fact, everything they’ve unveiled from their launch was of an old car – so they’ve been super secretive, more so than normal.” The team discovered a few tweaks over continual development leading to...
Getty Matt Ryan during a 2017 game against Detroit. The Detroit Lions are tasked with turning around their season, and the next chance to push for the playoffs comes this weekend as the team hits the road to tangle with the Atlanta Falcons. So far this season, Atlanta has been worse than Detroit in terms of record and uneven play, but in this battle that might not mean much at all considering the Falcons have found a bit of momentum following their tough start to the season. Besides, neither team has protected a lead consistently this year into the late stages, so it will be a fascinating battle to see who blinks first. Here’s more things to remember ahead of this Week 7 matchup. Can Detroit Slow Down Atlanta’s Solid Offense? Laugh if you must at Atlanta’s 1-5 record and the fact they have already fired their coach and general manager, but the fact remains that the team has a potent offense. Last week, they scored 40 points against the hapless Minnesota Vikings, and this season, though they’ve...

The British Royal household's 'no comment' policy was for Meghan Markle's benefit because they wanted to avoid 'making situations worse by giving a gossipy story more oxygen', a source told People magazine.   It comes after papers filed in the High Court last week revealed that the Duchess of Sussex, 38, felt she was ‘unprotected by the institution and prohibited from defending herself' from press coverage. But an insider with close knowledge of palace workings insisted the royal family's history of silence when it comes to news stories is because they don't want to heighten any situations.   Court documents also said the media intrusion Meghan faced while she was pregnant with son Archie, now one, damaged her mental health.  The former Suits star is suing Associated Newspapers Limited over an article in The Mail On Sunday that shared parts of a handwritten note she had sent to her father Thomas Markle in August 2018. She claims publication was a breach of her privacy; the newspaper denies the claim. The British Royal household's 'no comment' policy was for Meghan Markle's benefit because they wanted to...

Our two political parties have certain identities that are seared into our collective public brain. Democrats: the party of workers, of civil rights, of compassion and fairness, and of higher taxes and more regulation. Republicans: party of the rich, big business (and for that matter small business), the free market, and lower taxes and less regulation. And because the GOP is the party of big business, it is universally assumed that Republicans are better at handling the economy. Polls typically find that people trust Democrats more on all the things that government does, which stands to reason, but trust Republicans more on handling the economy. Just last week I saw a poll in which respondents rated Biden as better equipped than Trump to handle race relations, the virus response, and two or three other things; but on the economy, Trump bested Biden 51-46. It’s hard wired, and it’s wrong. Dead wrong.
