    An eight-year-old boy who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot during the July 4th Highland Park parade attack has slipped back to a critical condition. Cooper Roberts' spinal cord was severed during the attack in which seven people were killed, and more than 40 others were injured. His twin brother and mother were also wounded in the incident. The boy's family said that his condition has worsened and he will need an urgent and lengthy surgery to repair a torn esophagus - his seventh surgery since the shooting. Cooper had been improving in recent days, but on Tuesday he slipped back to critical condition as he is fighting a new infection and one of his lungs is partially collapsed.     A member of a Michigan motorcycle gang already on a federal agency's watchlist is in critical condition after a homemade bomb he was handling exploded in his garage.  Michael Liburdi, 38, lost a hand and suffered burns across 55% of his body after the Saturday explosion in his home in Warren, FOX reported.   Authorities seized more than a dozen handguns and rifles, AR-style magazines, and 4,000 rounds of ammunition, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said. Liburdi was being investigated by local police and an undisclosed federal law enforcement agency over his alleged connection with illegal firearms. One woman remained hospitalized in critical condition Monday, March 28 — four days after the car struck a tree off Route 130 around 12:15 a.m., the outlet said.     (CNN)An 11-month-old girl is in critical condition after she was shot in the face Wednesday while she was with her mother in a parked car in the Bronx neighborhood of New York, police said. The shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. when an armed man chased another man down the street and fired two shots, New York Police Department Deputy Chief Timothy McCormack said during a news conference. The mother and child were parked on a corner while the child's father was in a nearby grocery store when the shots were fired, injuring the girl in her left cheek, police said.     Sasha Johnson, one of the leading Black Lives Matter activists in the United Kingdom, is in critical condition after she was shot in the head early Sunday, according to reports. Details of the shooting were not immediately provided by London’s Metropolitan Police Department. News outlets including the BBC and the Guardian reported that city police responded to a shooting just before 3 a.m. in southeast London. The victim was a 27-year-old woman and the shooting was near a house party. The Guardian, citing police, reported that there is no immediate evidence to suggest she was targeted. The BBC reported that Johnson, 27, is also a leading member of the country’s Taking the Initiative Party, which the report said is considered Britain’s first "Black-led political party."     Authorities are probing the cause of a 'violent' Tesla crash in Detroit to determine whether the electric vehicle was in self-driving mode at the time of the collision.   The crash occurred the white Telsa sedan drove directly beneath a tractor trailer at an intersection on the city's south side last Thursday morning.  The car became wedged under the truck, critically injuring both the male driver and female passenger. The crash happened Wednesday evening at 55th Street and Kedzie Avenue. The Fire Department said a child was taken to the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital in “grave” condition.     SAN ANTONIO – A 44-year-old man is hospitalized and in critical condition after he was shot in the chest just down the street from his home, according to San Antonio police. The shooting happened Sunday evening near the man’s residence on Antoinette Drive. Police said the man had just returned home with his wife when he told her to go inside. He then walked down the street to talk with a group of five men, all in their 20s. Authorities believe the group of men and the 44-year-old knew each other.     A woman who was 35 weeks pregnant was struck and killed by a suspected DUI driver in Anaheim on Tuesday night. The fatal incident occurred at 7:37pm on Katella Avenue and Bayless Street when a driver, later identified to be 40-year-old Courtney Pandolfi, lost control of her vehicle. Pandolfi, who was driving a white Jeep, jumped the curb and struck the 23-year-old mother-to-be, who was walking with her husband on the sidewalk at the time, police said.     A three-year-old girl from Arkansas has died and her baby sister has been left clinging to life after the children were found in the back of their mother's car outside their home while she was napping inside.     One man was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting early Monday in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone, or CHOP, a patch of the city occupied by demonstrators rallying against police brutality and racism, according to reports. One victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in a private car shortly after 3 a.m. while the second was taken via ambulance a few minutes later, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg told KOMO News.     SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition after crashing his vehicle and getting pinned underneath of it, according to San Antonio police. The crash happened on the South Side around 8:30 p.m., Sunday, on Pleasanton Road and Gladstone Avenue. Officials said the man, in his 30′s, is a possible suspect in an assault that happened on Mitchell Street after getting into an argument with his girlfriend. He was traveling southbound on Pleasanton in his truck at a high rate of speed when police said he crashed the truck, was ejected, and the truck landed in the front yard of a residence. The driver was pinned underneath of it. Authorities said he was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The man did sustain life-threatening injuries and the investigation is still ongoing.     MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) — A 72-year-old Louisiana woman was in critical condition after being attacked by her two pit bulls on Thursday, and a neighbor who tried to help her was bitten in the arm, authorities said. Both dogs were still attacking their owner when St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies arrived at the woman's home near Mandeville, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. When deputies tried to stop the attack the dogs turned on them. The deputies shot at the animals, killing one. The other ran. After applying a tourniquet to the woman and giving her other medical care, the deputies found the second dog in a nearby yard. It attacked them again and they shot and killed it, the statement said. The neighbor, who had called the sheriff's office to report the attack shortly before 2:15 p.m., was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene.     HALETHORPE, MD. (WJZ) — Police are searching for suspects who allegedly shot a restaurant owner in Halethorpe late Tuesday night. Officers responded to a restaurant called 15 De Septembre in the 300 block of Hollins Ferry Road for a call of a shooting at around 11 p.m. Wednesday night. Police learned the victim, a man who owned the restaurant, was shot in the upper body after confronting three suspects who forced their way into the back of the restaurant. Several witnesses came to help the victim, who was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled before police arrived. Detectives from the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit are continuing the investigation into this shooting.     The husband of “Tan Mom” Patricia Krentcil is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack and stroke last Friday, a source close to the family said. Richard Krentcil, who is estranged from Patricia but still living with her, underwent emergency surgery in Tampa, Florida, and remains in the ICU, we’re told, though the family is unsure of how much damage Richard sustained. “It is very much serious for him right now so we are all praying he will make it through this,” the source told Page Six. Richard went to the doctor early Friday and was diagnosed with high cholesterol and diabetes and was told he was at “high risk” for a heart attack, the source said. He was ultimately sent home with medication but started sweating and shaking upon arriving there.     NORTH SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Two people were arrested in connection to a shooting and robbery in North Sacramento that left a man in critical condition, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department announced on Saturday. The shooting happened at around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday in the 4400 block of Greenholme Drive. The victim was located at the scene with a gunshot wound to the upper body and remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said. Their identity has not been released. Investigators said three individuals in a black sedan approached the victim who was walking down the street.     SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a light rail in Downtown Sacramento on Friday, the Sacramento Fire Department said. The individual was taken to the hospital for treatment after crews lifted the Sacramento Regional Transit train off of them, the department said. The victim’s identity has not been released. Officials said the scene was at 12th and D streets. No further information was released.
    SAN ANTONIO – A driver is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash on the far North Side, officials said. The crash happened Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Blanco Road and Calico Landing. Police say one of the drivers was traveling north on Blanco Road and was T-boned by the other vehicle on Calico Landing. One of the drivers has life-threatening injuries, and the other has minor injuries, officials say. They were both taken to University Hospital.     SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 20s was taken to an area hospital after being shot twice in the chest late Thursday night, San Antonio police said. Officers were called just before 11 p.m. to the 4800 block of Castle Sword, not far from Rittiman Road and I-35, after receiving reports of a disturbance. According to police, officers arrived to find the victim with two gunshot wounds. Police said some type of altercation occurred shortly before the man was shot. The suspects possibly fled in a black F-150 truck, police said. The victim was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call. Police did not give a reason as to why the altercation and disturbance occurred.     EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) - A child in Utah was critically injured when he was accidentally shot in the back of the head with a BB gun, authorities said. The 6-year-old boy and his 12-year-old brother were playing with BB guns at their Eagle Mountain home around 7:45 p.m. when older brother’s gun went off, the Utah County sheriff’s office said. The pellet “may have ricocheted, striking the younger boy in the back of the head,” Sgt. Spencer Cannon said. “It appears to be accidental. But it was a pump-style BB gun, and, depending on how much it’s been pumped, they can pack a little more punch than the regular BB guns,” Cannon said. The child was taken to the hospital by helicopter Monday. His current condition was not immediately available.
    A man is in critical condition after crashing his dirt bike into a pickup truck in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Police say the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on Old Branch Avenue near Allentown Road in Camp Springs. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.     An e-bike rider is clinging to life after he crashed into a pedestrian in Corona, Queens Saturday night, police said. The two crossed paths near the intersection of Junction Boulevard and 41st Avenue around 10 p.m., according to police. It was not clear which direction each was traveling and who had the right of way. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in stable condition. The cyclist, a man in his 40s, suffered life-threatening head trauma and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, police said.     A man serving at Donaldson Correctional facility was in critical condition Thursday after being found unconscious in a bathroom at the prison Wednesday evening, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.  ADOC confirmed the man’s injuries in a message to APR on Tuesday, and said there was no foul play, but declined to say whether the man has a mental illness and is one of many such inmates who’ve been housed in the prison’s gym for several months while workers make renovations to the prison’s mental health units.  Michael Perry was found in a bathroom by a correctional officer at approximately 9:20 p.m. on June 7, and he was taken by helicopter to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition, said ADOC spokeswoman Samantha Rose in the message.  APR received several tips since the incident that the man has mental health needs and was being housed in the gym, along with other inmates with mental illnesses.  Subscribe to APR's daily newsletter “The ADOC is unable to provide any additional detail at this time, including information regarding Inmate Perry’s...

    A zookeeper in Australia is in critical but stable condition after being mauled by two lions on Friday morning. Jennifer Brown, 35, was believed to have been cleaning a lion enclosure at the Shoalhaven Zoo and Adventure World in Nowra, New South Wales, when two male lions attacked her, Australia’s 7 News reports. The senior zookeeper was later found unconscious by two colleagues, with injuries to her neck and head.     BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A grizzly bear has mauled a mountain biker on a trail near the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club in southern Montana, causing severe injuries to his face and neck. Peter Scherfig was biking alone on his 61st birthday Monday when he was attacked, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reported. He was taken by ambulance to Big Sky Medical Center, flown to Billings for further treatment and then flown to Portland, Oregon on Thursday, authorities said. Scherfig remains in critical but stable condition. His injuries required major cranial and facial reconstruction and his jaw is wired shut. He also suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs.     Sydney (CNN)A zookeeper in Australia is in critical condition after being mauled by two lions while cleaning their enclosure on Friday, authorities said. The 35-year-old woman was bitten in the head and neck in what one paramedic called an "extremely vicious" attack at Shoalhaven Zoo, about 100 miles (162 kilometers) south of Sydney in New South Wales state, CNN affiliate 9 News Australia reported. Paramedics were called to the facility at about 10:30 a.m. local time, police said in a statement.
