NASCAR: NBC Sports Network shutting down, events switching to USA Network By: Nathan Solomon January 22, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditAccording to reports, NBC plans to shut down the NBC Sports Network by the end of the year. This has implications for NASCAR, as the NBC family broadcasts the final 20 races of the Cup Series season and the final 19 races of the Xfinity Series season. The date that the channel is shutting down hasn’t been decided, but once it’s eliminated, NASCAR events scheduled to air on NBC Sports Network will air on USA Network, another channel owned by NBC. In 2013, NBC and NASCAR agreed to a 10-year, $8.2 billion deal to air 39 NASCAR races a season beginning in 2015. After the 2021 season, it isn’t clear how races will be split between all of NBC’s networks. However, the change isn’t expected to affect any scheduled NASCAR races airing on other NBC channels this season. 12 races between the two series are scheduled to air on NBC, and one race is...

NBC will not reschedule a town hall-style event in which President Donald Trump will take questions from voters, despite the exact same thing happening with Joe Biden in the same time slot, The Wrap reported. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the network sparked controversy this week when it announced that it would broadcast a question-and-answer session between the president and the American people on Thursday, September 15, at 8 p.m. Eastern. A similar event with Trump’s adversary, Joe Biden, was previously scheduled at the exact same time, albeit on ABC. Both events are taking place on the night that would have otherwise been the day of the second of three presidential debates. It was canceled after the format was switched to a virtual meeting, and Trump refused to participate. The phrase #BoycottNBC trended on social media after the announcement, with angry users complaining about the network giving Trump air time after he backed out of the debate, and specifically, that it was scheduled directly against Biden’s.   Chip Somodevilla / Getty Images In a statement, Cesar Conde, chairman...
As the air gets colder, efforts to help Colorado's restaurant industry through the long winter ahead are heating up. Today Governor Jared Polis is scheduled to announce Let's Take This Outside, a two part-program designed to inspire creativity through an October 19 design workshop and then aid in the implementation of some of that creativity through grants. Chris Fuselier, owner of the Blake Street Tavern and a prominent member of the Tavern League of Colorado, is always ready to fight for the survival of his industry. That's why he pushed suing the State of Colorado and the governor back in July, first over social distancing guidelines and other restrictions on bars and restaurants, then on the early last call announced the day the suit was filed. He never has a problem taking a dispute outside, which is why he was surprised to hear from Governor Polis last Friday. Keep reading for Fuselier's take on that call and more, much more, in this first installment of our COVID-19 conversations.Related Stories Tavern League Sues State Over Reduced Capacity, Early Last Call Last...
The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers will play despite poor air quality. Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals taking on Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers was supposed to be one of the best games on the Week 1 slate, but calls to postpone or move the game due to the wildfires in California destroying the air quality have picked up steam recently. However, the league is determined to push on despite the adverse conditions. While the air quality in the Bay Area has fluctuated between 140 and 160 today, it doesn’t meet the NFL-mandated threshold of 200 that would force a postponement or cancelation. Therefore, Arizona and San Francisco will play as scheduled. Despite major air quality concerns in the Bay Area, the game between the 49ers and Cardinals remains on at its scheduled time for today, per sources. IRWINDALE (CBSLA) — The smoky, ashy air caused by wildfires burning in Southern California has forced what few events have been scheduled amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to be postponed. The Irwindale Speedway had scheduled an event for first responders this weekend. The track’s management said they were forced to make this decision “for the safety of our competitors and staff, as air quality and heavy ash fall presents a considerable health risk.” The previously scheduled “Outlaw Night” on Sept. 19 will be rebranded as “First Responders Night” in light of the change. President Trump will campaign in key general election battleground states next week at the same time as the Democratic National Convention formally names former Vice President Joe Biden as the party’s standard-bearer. Trump’s reelection campaign announced Friday that the president will hold events in Minnesota and Wisconsin on Monday and Arizona on Tuesday. WHO'S SPEAKING AND WHEN AT THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION While the Trump campaign has not announced the president’s travel for next Thursday, campaign officials confirmed to Fox News that Trump is expected to visit Scranton, Pa. – the city where Biden was born and spent his early years. The trip should come hours before Biden is scheduled to give his presidential nomination acceptance address, which will be the biggest speech of his half-century career in politics. Typically a presidential nominee will lie low as the opposition party holds its nominating convention – but Trump has repeatedly proven that he’s not one to adhere to political traditions. The announced stops in Mankato, Minn.; Oshkosh, Wisc.; and Yuma, Ariz., are scheduled to be held at hangars or other aviation facilities at airports – and will likely use Air Force One...
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Saturday it would allow flights to resume to Geneva starting from Aug. 15, a first air link to be reopened between Russia and a continental European since all scheduled air traffic was suspended in March due to the coronavirus. Russia, which operated repatriation flights during the coronavirus lockdown, allowed other scheduled international flights to resume on Saturday, starting with Britain, Turkey and Tanzania. Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova, who heads a government coronavirus response centre, said flights between Moscow and Geneva would initially be weekly. International flights were grounded on March 30 after the lockdown was imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus, which has infected more than 845,000 people in Russia so far. The death toll has exceeded 14,000. Russia announced a partial reopening of its borders in June to allow people to travel abroad if they needed to work, study, seek medical treatment or look after relatives.
