AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) — One of the most centrally-located vaccination clinics in the Denver metro area has seen a significant increase in demand thanks to personal relationships and vaccine incentive programs. The Village Exchange Center, located off of Havana and 16th Avenue, has received donations and grants to help encourage many from diverse backgrounds to become vaccinated from COVID-19. “There’s a huge disparity between the BIPOC community getting vaccinated and other community members,” said Amanda Blaurock, Cofounder and Executive Director of the Village Exchange Center. The center was created to help unite the surrounding community no matter religion, language, nationality or gender. For years, outreach has been a priority among volunteers who spend their time establishing personal relationships with the community. Under withering questioning from an attorney for L.A. Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, a 27-year-old woman acknowledged in court Tuesday, Aug. 17, she had previous sexual relationships with two San Diego Padres players, shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. and pitcher Mike Clevinger. “I don’t see how that’s relevant,” said the woman, who seemed shocked by attorney Shawn Holley’s inquiry about the relationships during the second day of testimony at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles before Judge Dianna Gould-Saltman. The San Diego woman is seeking a five-year restraining order against Bauer, claiming he choked her until she was unconscious and beat her during two rough sexual encounters at his Pasadena home in April and May that she alleges were initially consensual but quickly turned violent. Tearfully, during questioning from Holley, the woman admitted her 2019 relationship with Tatis resulted in her firing from the San Diego Padres Pad Squad, a team of goodwill ambassadors that appears at community and civic events. She also said she had a sexual relationship with Clevinger in October 2020. Holley questioned the...

Financial worries are already well-known as one of the main sources of conflict in a romantic relationship. But now a new study reveals that people who base their self worth on how much they earn clash with their partner more often.  The team of researchers, based in Michigan and Texas, recruited hundreds of people in a marriage or in a committed relationship.  They found a link between conflict, such as arguments, and 'financially contingent self-worth' (FCSW) – the feeling that personal worth depends on the ability to achieve financial success. Amazingly, this link was found regardless of how much money they were earning or their level of economic stress.   Although the experts couldn't explain the link, it's likely that someone who's paying more attention to their finances is neglecting the various needs of their partner, causing conflict. R. Kelly’s lawyers are asking a New York judge to block federal prosecutors from presenting new testimony from alleged male victims in the singer’s sexual abuse trial, arguing that jurors could be homophobic. On Friday, Kelly’s lawyers, Thomas A. Farinella and Nicole Blank Becker, filed court papers requesting the judge suppress evidence from two alleged male victims who accused Kelly of entering into sexual relationships with them when they were teenagers. The attorneys claimed the questionnaire sent to potential jurors didn’t ask about their views on same-sex relationships, making it impossible to weed out any potential jurors who could be homophobic. “The topic of sexual orientation has become as controversial as politics,” Farinella wrote. “It is indisputable that the allegations of the alleged same-sex relationships is a subject matter that would demonstrate impermissible bias on the part of a juror.” One alleged victim claims the R&B singer sexually abused him as a teen. In a 55-page motion filed last week, Kelly was accused of meeting the 17-year-old boy at a McDonald’s in Chicago in Dec. 2006 and “luring him...

I didn't realize they have an avoidant attachment style for years. Canela López/Insider I used to be a serial ghoster who deeply feared intense romantic commitment.  I've spent the last two years working through my dismissive-avoidant attachment style. I worked with a therapist on my avoidant tendencies and realized I am polyamorous.  Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Queer communities can feel abysmally small, especially when you're trying not to run into an ex. I found an added layer of difficulty in New Orleans' particularly small college queer scene, especially as someone who would serially ghost people. At first, I thought it was just a college phase, but after moving to New York, I realized I was mimicking the same patterns of avoidance.  One day in therapy, after an unfortunate run-in at an NYC queer event with a person I had ghosted, I brought it up with my therapist.   In therapy, I expressed that even casual flirtation felt like it would get serious. My skin would start crawling, and I would have the urge to flee. My...
