Getty Luka Doncic #77 of the Dallas Mavericks looks to pass around Kemba Walker #8. Looking at the Dallas Mavericks‘ roster, it’s plain to see why the team decided to sign free agent Kemba Walker earlier in the week. The team is starved of playmaking after Luka Doncic; in fact, the only other true point guards on the roster were Facundo Campazzo and Frank Ntilikina, the former of which was waived after the Walker signing. Such is the primary motivation for adding Walker: though he’s been hobbled with injuries and not looked like his former All-Star self in some time, the Mavs are hoping there’s still some playmaking left in the tank. And if you ask Walker, there certainly is; the former Charlotte Hornet is crystal clear about his responsibilities in Dallas. “Just adding another guy who can create for others and myself,” Walker said in an interview with the Mavericks this week. “I think I can help in that aspect. Take a little pressure off. Luka doesn’t really need any pressure taken off him. The kid is...
Antonio Brown has posted a bizarre faked nude photo of Gisele Bundchen to Snapchat - as his feud rumbles on with the supermodel's ex-husband Tom Brady. Ex-NFL receiver Brown, a former teammate and friend of Brady, uploaded a photo of a topless woman with Bundchen's face clearly edited onto it. He didn't caption the picture and it was deleted soon after. The strange post is Brown's latest move in his ongoing spat with Brady, who rarely addresses the feud. Brady helped recruit Brown, 34, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 amid accusations of sexual assault and harassment and allowed for the former wide receiver to live with him before the start of the season. The quarterback also vouched for Brown in 2019 to be brought onto the New England Patriots, only to have the team cut him after one game when the sexual misconduct allegation first surfaced. Brown posted a clearly-edited photo to Snapchat which showed Bundchen's head pasted onto the body of a naked woman. It's the ex-NFL star's latest bizarre social media post in a feud with...
Antonio Brown is continuing to antagonize Tom Brady on social media, this time, by releasing a purported text message from his now-former Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammate dating back to May of 2021. 'You are demonstrating very poor decision and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you,' began the message, which Brown shared on Snapchat. The name at the top of the message reads 'TOM BRADY' and the text appears to have been sent at May 10, 2021 at 12:58pm. If the text message is genuine, it's unclear what Brady was referring to at the time. It's true, the seven-time Super Bowl winner had encouraged the Bucs to acquire the embattled Brown in 2020 amid accusations of sexual assault and harassment, which he has since settled out of court. He even allowed Brown to stay with him in preparation for the season. A year earlier, Brady had pushed for the New England Patriots to sign Brown, only to have the team cut him after one game when the sexual misconduct allegation first surfaced....
The son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, Marcus, and the ex-wife of his famous tag team partner Scottie Pippen, Larsa Pippen, were seen together in Miami this weekend. Pippen, 48, and Jordan, 31, were seen hanging out at the downtown Miami restaurant Zuma on Sunday afternoon.   They were apparently on some sort of 'double date' with another couple, according to TMZ.   Sources said the pair were at Zuma for 45 minutes and didn't show any overt signs of romance.   They added, however, that Larsa became 'skittish' when she started to realize the cameras were trained on them.  It wasn't quite 'The Last Dance' but the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, Marcus, and the ex-wife of his famous tag team partner Scottie Pippen, Larsa Pippen, were seen together in Miami this weekend Pippen, 48, and Jordan, 31, were seen hanging out at the downtown Miami restaurant Zuma on Sunday afternoon They were apparently on some sort of 'double date' with another couple at the Miami hotspot Sources said the pair were at Zuma for 45 minutes and didn't show any...
Christian Vazquez was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Houston Astros but is still looking out for his ex-teammates. It didn’t take long after the MLB trade deadline for Christian Vazquez to see many of his former Boston Red Sox teammates. Traded a few days ago from Boston to the Houston Astros, the two clubs battled this week in Vazquez’s new home ballpark. During rookie Brayan Bello’s appearance on Aug. 3 against Houston, it was Vazquez who signaled from the Astros dugout that something wasn’t right with the Red Sox pitcher. Red Sox skipper Alex Cora saw the same thing so it’s not as if Vazquez forgot what uniform he’s wearing. As a catcher with a great reputation as a game-caller and teammate, it seems that maybe a reunion with Boston for the soon-to-be-free agent could always happen this offseason.Former Red Sox catcher is looking out for his teammates while with the AstrosCora seemed to appreciate his former player looking out for the young Boston pitcher. Even if he did have plans of ruining Cora’s day with a...
A former St. John's lacrosse captain faces up to 25 years in prison after he was found guilty of stabbing ex-teammate, leaving his 'intestines hanging out of his stomach' during a house party brawl.  Former lacrosse captain Matthew Stockfeder, 23, of Long Island, was found guilty on Thursday for stabbing ex-teammate and roommate Justin Corpolongo, also 23, at a house party in October 2019.   Corpolongo testified earlier this month that the brutal fight began when he arrived home from his bartending shift to a rowdy party with blasting music.   Corpolongo, whose room is beneath the area where the party was, told the court that after politely asking the 20 partygoers to turn the music down and texting his friends about the noise, he 'went upstairs and pulled the power cord out of the speaker.' The former student, who is now a teacher, had an early morning start for work and was trying to rest.  Former lacrosse captain Matthew Stockfeder, 23, of Long Island, (pictured earlier this month) was found guilty on Thursday for stabbing ex-teammate and roommate Justin Corpolongo, also 23 at...
A former St John's University lacrosse player who was stabbed in the gut and left with his 'intestines . . . hanging out of his stomach,' appeared shaken in a Queens court Monday as he described the horrific attack that stemmed from a house-party brawl over loud music.  Justin Corpolongo testified that the brutal fight with his then-roommate Matthew Stockfeder, 24, in 2019 began when he arrived home from work to a rowdy party with blasting music.  The two were friends and former teammates on the St. John’s lacrosse team in Queens, New York. Corpolongo, whose room is beneath the area where the party was, told the court that after politely asking the 20 partygoers to turn the music down, he said he 'went upstairs and pulled the power cord out of the speaker,' the New York Post reported.  Stockfeder and their other roommate took off in a huff and headed to the nearby fraternity house to watch Monday Night Football on TV. Throughout the night, Stockfeder allegedly sent a series of mocking text messages to Corpolongo. At around midnight, Corpolongo went to...
Former Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen called out the Seattle Seahawks, saying the staff acted as if they had a JV roster on offense.  In recent years, Russell Wilson clearly was not happy with the Seattle Seahawks and the trade rumors finally came to a close with him being shipped to the Denver Broncos. Wilson wanted a fresh start elsewhere. Why did he want to leave town? If you ask former Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen, it’s because the coaching staff acted as if they had a ‘JV roster’ on offense, focusing more on defense first and not letting Wilson do his thing under center. LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- LeBron James is only 36 years old but he got a bit of a reality-check about what that means for an athlete during Sunday's Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies.About seven minutes into the first quarter, the Grizzlies sent rookie guard Ziaire Williams onto the floor.Williams, now 20, was a high-school teammate of LeBron's son Bronny at Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth in 2019-2020.It was only about 18 months ago that LeBron was cheering on Ziaire and Bronny as they led the school to the division title. Williams went on to play for Stanford for a single season and was drafted to the NBA earlier this year. Now he's playing on the same floor against his former teammate's father, who happens to be one of the best players in the world."I looked at Ziaire a couple times and I was just shaking my head inside," James said after Sunday's game. "Just remembering a year and a half ago, not even a full two years he was hitting the game-winner to send them to the state...
NBA legend LeBron James reflected on playing against Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Ziaire Williams, the former teammate of James’ 17-year-old son Bronny. There are a few ways to quantify just how long LeBron James has been dominating the game of basketball. He’s 36 years old, turning 37 later this year on Dec. 30. He was drafted in 2003 at the age of 18, spending the past 18 years in the NBA. That means that at this point, James has lived just as much of his life in the NBA as outside of it. But what made James deeply consider just how long he’s been around the court was playing against Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Ziaire Williams on Oct. 24. The 20-year-old Williams was selected with the tenth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, but just a few years ago, he was LeBron James Jr.’s high school teammate. After the Lakers narrowly came out with their first win of the season, 121-118, the media pressed the elder James to see whether or not playing against someone 16 years his junior registered...
MIAMI -- A former University of Miami football player was arrested Thursday in connection with the 2006 fatal shooting of his teammate Bryan Pata.Rashaun Jones, 35, of Lake City, was arrested in Marion County on a first-degree murder warrant by Miami-Dade police and the U.S. Marshals Service, police spokesperson Alvaro Zabaleta said."The Pata family has waited a long time to see the individual they had believed involved in Brian's death arrested and charged," Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a statement. "While the time needed to build sufficient evidence to ethically charge in a homicide can sometimes feel endless, families should know that the passion and determination of police and prosecutors to resolve unsolved cases does not diminish."Pata was expected to be an early pick in the 2007 NFL Draft following his fourth and final season with the Hurricanes. The 22-year-old, 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman was shot several times outside of his Kendall apartment the night of Nov. 7, 2006. Pata had been returning from campus in his black Infiniti. Some witnesses claimed to hear arguing and then...
08/17/2021 at 6:42 PM CEST . The Spanish Enric Mas (Movistar) was happy this Tuesday for the triumph of his former teammate Fabio Jakobsen in the goal of Molina de Aragón (Guadalajara) after the bad moments suffered by the Dutch sprinter after last year’s terrible crash in the Tour of Poland. “After having been a teammate of Jakobsen and knowing how he is as a person, if in itself it is always pleasant for someone like him to win, knowing everything that has happened, it is even more so after having shared not only a squad, but a team with him, “said the Balearic cyclist at the finish line. For the rest, for Mas, despite the final ‘volata’, it was “a really difficult day” for the peloton. “Sometimes you can’t see your nerves on TV, but the whole stage we have had tension, and the last 60-70 kilometers have been fast and difficult,” he said. As for the 3 seconds that he took on Monday in Picón Blanco to the rest of the favorites, he believes...
Getty Ben Simmons and Dwight Howard of the Philadelphia 76ers battle for the ball during a game against the Charlotte Hornets. Although Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers expressed hope on Monday that Ben Simmons could make major strides as a shooter this offseason, the partnership between the former No. 1 overall pick and his team looks to be on shakier ground than ever. Rivers’ confidence was noticably absent when he was asked if Simmons could lead a title-winning team one day earlier. And while he didn’t actually namecheck Simmons, Sixers star Joel Embiid similarly appeared to throw him under the bus following Philly’s Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. Setting a record for the worst free throw shooting percentage in NBA playoff history (and doing so as a starting point guard) and retreating from an open shot at the hoop when your postseason life is on the line will have that effect. It will also inspire fans and hoops pundits alike to go all-in on trade chatter. And, sure enough, Simmons’ name is currently burning...
Suarez left Barcelona for Atletico Madrid last summer. Getty/David Ramos Lionel Messi felt isolated and missed Luis Suarez when he wanted to leave Barcelona. That's according to Messi's former Barca teammate Andrea Orlandi. Orlandi also told Insider that the Argentine "wasn't convinced" by his teammates on the pitch.  Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Lionel Messi felt isolated and missed his "best friend" Luis Suarez when he wanted to leave FC Barcelona last year. That's according to his former teammate Andrea Orlandi, who says the Argentine's unhappiness played a large part in Barcelona missing out on the La Liga title this season.  Messi requested to leave the Camp Nou in August following the club's humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, however ultimately backed down amid a dispute over his contract.  The next month, however, Barcelona then sold Suarez, who had won 13 major trophies alongside Messi, to Atletico Madrid – prompting Messi to publicly criticize Barca on social media. Amid the fallout, Barcelona endured a slow start to the season, losing four of its...
Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has become a hugely popular figure among the fans, mainly because of the Drive to Survive series. Many viewers quickly found out that Steiner swore so much that it could make a sailor blush. Nevertheless, it endeared him to the fans even more. Recently, Steiner celebrated his 56th birthday, and his former driver Kevin Magnussen was one of the many well-wishers. Of course, the Dane had to be cheeky about it, and mirroring Steiner’s curse-y personality, he commented on the team’s Instagram post, “Have a good f***ing day, Guenther!” Evidently, the team appreciated the humor and had a good laugh. Magnussen has been part of the Haas F1 stable since 2017 when he was hired to partnered Romain Grosjean. Since then, the duo have had several ups and downs until their final year together in 2020. Unfortunately, the American outfit opted to let them go at the end of the season and fielded a brand new rookie line-up. How has life been for Kevin Magnussen after Haas F1? After Magnussen parted ways with Haas F1,...
No one expected the Hurt Business to collapse mere weeks before WrestleMania. Unfortunately, WWE pulled the plug on perhaps its most influential faction since the Shield. Bobby Lashley and MVP kicked Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander out of the Hurt Business, and now the WWE Champion will take on Cedric on Raw. Bobby Lashley faces Cedric Alexander on Raw Last week, Bobby Lashley kicked the former Raw Tag Team Champions out of the group. Cedric and Shelton lost a two-on-one handicap match against Lashley’s WrestleMania opponent, Drew McIntyre, which banned them from ringside for the match. On the next episode of Raw, Lashley expressed his disappointment in them and admonished them for their incompetence. Tempers flared and the All Mighty attacked both Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. He then faced Benjamin in a singles match, where he destroyed him in mere minutes. Getty Jason Tatum and Kyrie Irving at TD Garden. Let Kyrie Irving tell it, the media has its way of making him seem like a villain or some sort of locker room cancer. While it may have seemed warranted to many, there have been moments in his career, where the 10-year veteran has shown that he can get along with other players in the Association. Kyrie’s ex-Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum reflected on his two years playing with Uncle Drew in Boston and had nothing but great reviews for the seven-time All-Star. Join Heavy on Nets! The Miami Dolphins need to help Tua Tagovailoa by re-pairing him with Najee Harris. One year ago, the Miami Dolphins kept their promise and drafted Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa fifth overall. A 6-2 record entering Week 17 showed so much growth and potential despite limited passing. Then, the Buffalo Bills intercepted Tagovailoa three times on the way to a 56-26 victory. The Dolphins said they would build around Tagovailoa. It starts by adding RB1 in April. Next: The Green Bay Packers should trade whatever to draft Alabamas Jaylen Waddle
On November 29, three-time Dunk Contest champion Nate Robinson lost by knockout to Youtuber Jake Paul in a much-awaited fight. The whole NBA community was rooting for Robinson, but was left disappointed after his loss. Robinson’s former teammate Stephen Curry took that opportunity to take a friendly swipe at him. I see no lies — Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) November 29, 2020 Recently Curry made an appearance on The Daily Show where he explained this jab. “I know one thing about Nate is, one, he can dish out the trash talk and he can take it,” Curry told host Trevor Noah. “I know based on how the whole match went, the whole event went – it wasn’t supposed to be that entertaining, but it was. But for Nate, he is the most resilient dude in the world. If there’s one person that I know that’s going to find that comeback type of situation. I don’t know if he’s gonna be back in the ring. But whatever he’s gonna do, he’s gonna be amazing. I’m betting on Nate. We can have as...
Recently, Sebastian Vettel enjoyed a round of rapid-fire questions during an interview with Fox Sports. In the process, the German took a hilarious dig at his former teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, by terming his music taste as “horrible.” During the interview, Vettel was asked about which driver he would choose to partner up with if he had plans of forming a band. The German replied, “Daniel!” What makes Sebastian Vettel…Sebastian Vettel? ????@MatthewMarshHK puts the four-time @F1 world champion under the spotlight with some tricky questions. ????#F1 #FOXSportsF1 pic.twitter.com/TUrfDHF5ow — FOX Sports Asia (@FOXSportsAsia) November 10, 2020 “Even though some of his music taste is horrible, but at least he is funny,” Vettel added. Both Vettel and Ricciardo enjoyed a healthy relationship during their team-up at Red Bull. The primary reason being both drivers tend to be very amusing rather than too serious. Sebastian Vettel faces more tricky questions The interviewer threw his first question to Vettel, which was quite easy and straightforward. “Who was your first teammate in Formula 1?” the interviewer asked. “Nick Heidfeld,” Vettel replied with not much hesitation....
Dwight Howard bore the strain of not winning a championship ring just a year ago, before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. He’s been in the league since 2004 and has already surpassed his peak form. Howard and the Orlando Magic reached the 2009 NBA Finals, and the 6’10” forward was having one of the best seasons of his career.  Dwight Howard spent eight seasons with the Magic, two less than retired star Jameer Nelson. The 38-year-old, too, was an important member of the 2009 and 2010 Magic. Nelson recently put forth how he enjoyed his times with the young and talented Orlando Magic team.  “It was one of those things it’s like we’re young, and you look at the landscape of our career. We kinda got there in advanced time. We got into to the finals, it didn’t take us 10 years. It was like 5-6 years, we got to the finals,” he detailed.  Dwight Howard tore apart the league with his physical strength, and he could mark anyone on the court. His dominance yielded success as Howard won...
Just how good was Kevin Durant as a Warrior? ‘The Slim Reaper’ slithered into the team and made himself the best player on the court. Alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, KD dominated the NBA, winning back-to-back titles and Finals MVP awards. As good as Steph and Klay were, Draymond Green had a major impact on Durant’s game as well.  But Green still gets hit with a lot of backlash, primarily for his on-court antics. His demeanor certainly has a few fans ranting on social media. But a lot of us might just see a tiny layer of his game, rather than the whole package.  Draymond Green has a lot to offer on the court, but he creates a quiet impression. He complements his teammates so well that their game automatically becomes easier. KD has been impacted by playing alongside Green, much to his benefit. Kevin Durant has now spoken out, saying that some people don’t realize this aspect of his former teammate’s game.  “If you play the game, you don’t realize that stuff and you don’t see...
Basketball is no stranger to feuds and banters. It’s as if being a player for the NBA franchise comes with all this packaged. Although there is one rivalry that always comes to mind without fail when you think about it. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal‘s infamous beef during their team together in Los Angeles Lakers is one of the most iconic feuds in the NBA that made headlines constantly. Along side this, there is one such hilarious throwback moment on the court between Kobe and Shaq that is worth remembering. Kobe Bryant stares down at Shaq after foul As dynamic the duo was considered to be on the court, their beef was even more embarrassing than that. The two players joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996. The two were able to bag three NBA Championship consecutively and O’Neal even won the NBA Finals MVP following each of their victories. However, there is a downside of having two alphas on one team. There is bound to be differences in opinion and struggles regarding their respective roles in the Lakers. Nevertheless,...
TJ Warren being called a superstar may be premature. But what Warren has done for the Indiana Pacers in the bubble is what a superstar does. The Pacers have a perfect 3-0 record inside the bubble and it is in no small part to TJ. His three-game stretch is unlike anything we have come to expect from Warren and this play may bode well for the Pacers in the playoffs. Warren wasn’t on the Pacers before this season. He spent his entire career with the team that drafted him in 2014. That team was the Phoenix Suns and they enjoyed four seasons with TJ. Phoenix did not make the playoffs even once in this period, and Warren was a basic role-player. He was traded away from the Suns on the 2019 Draft in a three-team trade with Miami and Indiana. Pacers essentially gave up ‘cash considerations’ for Warren. He averaged 14.4 points in Phoenix on 49.7% field goal efficiency. TJ Warren dropped 53 points on the 76ers, 24 on the Wizards, and 32 on the Magic in the restart. Former...
BOSTON (CBS) — Bill Belichick and Cam Newton. It’s not really the coach-QB marriage that many predicted in New England after the Tom Brady era ended, but here we are, heading into the 2020 season with the grumpy coach and the charismatic quarterback. Will it work? That’s the question most have been wondering since Newton signed a one-year, incentive laden deal with New England. And one of Newton’s former teammates, one who also happens to have some experience playing under Belichick, has his doubts. Nose tackle Kyle Love started his NFL career under Belichick, and then played six seasons in Carolina with Newton. Speaking with the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan, Love isn’t sold on Newton being a great fit in New England under Belichick. “This is just my opinion, but I don’t feel like Cam can take the pressure of coaches talking down about his play,” Love told the Herald. “If he had a bad game in Carolina, the coaching staff wouldn’t say much to him because they may have felt he could be a little frail about it or...
For Sebastian Vettel, the season opener didn’t quite go the way he would have hoped for. In fact, far from it, it was a debacle. The 4-times world champion had a poor qualifying and started the race in P11. However, if he was hoping for a much-improved performance in the race, that hope was sent flying out of the window, after he ‘spun’ trying to get past Carlos Sainz on the inside. All in all, it was a very tough day in the office for the German. He only managed a solitary point, finishing P10, thanks to several drivers retiring ahead of him. Mark Webber, Vettel’s former teammate at Red Bull, took pity on him and has suggested that the relationship between Vettel and Ferrari is no more. Mark Webber thinks that the chemistry between Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari is long gone The former Red Bull driver Mark Webber appeared on the podcast, In The Fast Lane , and said, “The relationship is over. The chemistry is gone, the marriage is over. “Sebastian is dressed in red, he’s driving...
When you’re playing with a legend of the game, you ought to show respect. And if that player is also the president of basketball operations of your team, you have to be more careful. However, that’s not what Bryon Russell had in mind. According to his Washington Wizards teammate Brendan Haywood, Russell would constantly chirp at Michael Jordan during Wizards’ practices. Haywood said, “He would consistently try and challenge MJ in practice. But MJ was so much better than him. It got to a point where it was embarrassing. After one practice where he hit the game-winning shot on Bryon Russel, he said, ‘Man, stop trying to guard me. You’re known as the ‘Human Highlight Film’, not because of your own, but because you’re always in mine.’” When Michael Jordan took it personally, yet again During the Last Dance, we saw that Russell had already got himself on Jordan’s “list.” When Jordan was retired and playing baseball in 1994, he was in the Bulls training facility before a Bulls-Jazz game. So while talking to John Stockton and Karl Malone,...
There were recent rumors of the free agent, J.R. Smith filling Lakers guard’s shoes in the upcoming season in Orlando. After Avery Bradley opted out of the remaining league, the season favorites are looking for options. But it seems like their hunt is over. Smith was seen taking a few shots and making the most out of his practice in a video just two days after his comeback rumors. Smith has been out of the league for almost two years now. The last time he was seen playing in a match was in the Cavaliers jersey. After LeBron James’ shift to Lakers in 2018, Smith complained about his reduced role in the team that led to major disappointment from his end. In a couple of days, he was waived by the Cavs, and since then entered his free agency period. JR’s been staying ready
(CNN)Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has "far exceeded" the expectations of his former teammate, Peter Schmeichel. The Norweigan, who played for the club for 11 seasons, took over from Jose Mourinho as caretaker manager in December 2018, winning 14 of his first 19 games in charge, and signing a contract to take over on a permanent basis in March 2019. He has since endured an up-and-down time at the helm, with inconsistent results in the Premier League leaving United fifth in the table while also qualifying for the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League before the season was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. But while others might criticize Solskjaer for not immediately leading the club back to the heights it reached under Sir Alex Ferguson, Schmeichel thinks he is making the most of the resources at his disposal. "I think he's done a tremendous job. I think he's far exceeded my expectations on what could be done in a relatively short period of time, it has to be said," Schmeichel told CNN Sport's Amanda Davies in an...
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is being called out after seemingly weighing in on New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees comments about the national anthem this week. “A few years ago we were criticized for locking arms in solidarity before the game,” Rodgers wrote Wednesday on Instagram. “It has NEVER been about an anthem or a flag. Not then. Not now. Listen with an open heart, let’s educate ourselves, and then turn word and thought into action.” One of the hash tags he used was #solidarity. SAINTS QUARTERBACK APOLOGIZES AFTER VISCERAL BACKLASH OVER STANCE AGAINST KNEELING DURING NATIONAL ANTHEM Despite the positivity in Rodgers’ post, a former teammate of his wasn’t buying it. Former NFL tight end Martellus Bennett, who played with Rodgers and the Packers for seven games in 2017, quoted a previous tweet from Rodgers in which the superstar quarterback said of his teammates kneeling: “They have a battle for racial equality. That’s what they’re trying to get a conversation started about.” “Doesn’t sound like an ally sounds like a spectator,” Bennett tweeted Thursday. “So miss me with that bulls--t,” Bennett continued. “Show me one. The San Francisco 49ers received some backlash Tuesday for joining in the #BlackoutTuesday social media trend to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and those who are protesting against police brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Several people pointed to Colin Kaepernick’s decision to kneel during the national anthem in their tweets against the Niners. Kaepernick last played with the Niners in 2016 and opted out of his contract at the end of the season. He hasn’t played in the NFL since. BRONCOS COACH VIC FANGIO: 'IF SOCIETY REFLECTED AN NFL TEAM, WE'D ALL BE GREAT' Eric Reid, a former 49ers defensive back who is currently a free agent, was among the first players to support Kaepernick’s cause. He had his own message for his former team. “I think you meant Blackball Tuesday...I digress,” Reid wrote. He added: “Hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.” AOC, OTHERS MOCK WASHINGTON REDSKINS OVER #BLACKOUTTUESDAY TWEET: 'CHANGE YOUR NAME' Several NBA players, including Utah Jazz star Donovan...
