Soldiers drive a "Marder" infantry fighting vehicle of the German armed forces Bundeswehr during the informative educational practice "Land Operation Exercise 2017" at the military training area in Munster, northern Germany.Afp Contributor | Afp | Getty Images Ukraine's relations with Germany have soured this week, with Kyiv asking why Berlin reneged on its promise to provide heavy weaponry. Tensions over Germany's provision of Leopard tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine — or lack thereof — came to a head this week when Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba publicly asked why Berlin was backtracking on a pledge made to send these weapons to Ukraine. "Disappointing signals from Germany while Ukraine needs Leopards and Marders now — to liberate people and save them from genocide," Kuleba said on Twitter, adding that there was "not a single rational argument on why these weapons can not be supplied, only abstract fears and excuses." "What is Berlin afraid of that Kyiv is not?" he added. The Marder is a German infantry fighting vehicle designed to be used alongside Leopard battle tanks in combat. Kuleba's...

Albert | Picture Alliance | Getty ImagesBoeing's deliveries rose to 35 planes last month, helped in part by a resumption in handovers of new 787 Dreamliners to airlines. Manufacturing flaws had paused deliveries of the wide-body Dreamliners for much of the past two years. Germany's Lufthansa and Dutch airline KLM were among the customers that received new Dreamliners last month after the planes were cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing said. Each carrier received one plane apiece. The two Dreamliners American Airlines received last month were not included in the tally. Those jets were flown to Victorville, California, for Boeing to install Wi-Fi equipment and other items in the planes' interiors. Boeing also logged 26 net orders for new planes last month, half of them for 737 Max aircraft. Its net orders for the year stand at 388 and deliveries at...
After pulling off an upset against the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson, Geno Smith dropped the quote of the year.  It was supposed to be Russell Wilson’s homecoming. Instead, it’s Geno Smith and the Seahawks who got the last laugh and the last word. After Seattle knocked off Denver 17-16, Smith was interviewed by ESPN’s Lisa Salters and dropped the best quote of 2022. “They wrote me off, I ain’t write back though.” Happy for Geno pic.twitter.com/IYo32LOukP — Big Cat (2-0 in my last 2) (@BarstoolBigCat) September 13, 2022 Wood. That alone deserves a standing ovation, a round of applause, a tip of the cap, whatever you want to do to praise Geno Smith; this was his moment and night. Moreover, it’s a great night for the Seattle Seahawks. Picked by many to be a complete rebuilding team this year, Seattle came out and punched Denver in the mouth, and Geno Smith, for much of the game and much to Shannon Sharpe’s chagrin, wheeled and dealt the ball to his receivers like he was Patrick Mahomes.Geno Smith got the...
In April, the Ravens made a shocking move on the first night of the NFL draft when they traded receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to the Arizona Cardinals. And instead of drafting another wideout, the Ravens selected two tight ends — Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely — in the fourth round, indicating that Baltimore would run a tight end-heavy offense in 2022. In the Ravens’ 24-9 season-opening win over the New York Jets on Sunday, it didn’t take long for the wide receivers to show they’re more than capable of delivering for star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Devin Duvernay had a career afternoon, catching four passes for a career-high 54 yards and two touchdowns, while second-year wideout Rashod Bateman corralled a 55-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that might have been thrown to Brown a year ago. In the months leading up to Baltimore’s dominant victory at MetLife Stadium, the Ravens expressed confidence in their wide receivers. They didn’t make a splashy move in the trade market or free agency except for signing veteran Demarcus Robinson, who was surprisingly cut by...

Is mail delivered on Labor Day? [Updated September 2022] The United States Postal Service is an independent agency of the executive branch of the U.S. federal government. USPS goes all the way back to 1775 when Benjamin Franklin was appointed as the very first postmaster general. Fast forward 247 years and the Post Office has weathered numerous thunderstorms. From averting the elimination of Saturday mail delivery, to mass revenue decline and job cuts, the Postal Service has taken massive hits thanks to digital mail and private competitors, including UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon. The result has been an annual loss of billions of dollars. Most recently, the Trump and Obama administrations have passed legislation to increase USPS profits while decreasing operating costs, though the service continues to struggle greatly.USPS hours: Is the post office open or closed on Labor Day 2022?Unfortunately, the post office is closed on Labor Day and all federal holidays, as listed below. A nationwide program that allowed residents to order batches of free at-home coronavirus tests through the U.S. Postal Service is coming to an end this week, leaving Californians just days to secure any final shipments. Suspending the offering, which the COVID.gov website says is “because Congress hasn’t provided additional funding to replenish the nation’s stockpile,” will remove one convenient testing option even as federal officials continue to tout its importance and say residents should use multiple kits to screen for coronavirus infection. The action does not appear to affect a separate program that allows insured people to get reimbursed for a certain number of at-home rapid tests every month. Using an online portal that launched in January, households were able to have up to three shipments of tests delivered to their homes for free. The rapid antigen tests were self-administered and could deliver results within minutes. California Concerns over accuracy of COVID rapid test results when first sick Health officials stress that at-home tests are a vital and accurate way of tracking COVID-19 infections but an...

The White House is riding high after cinching wins with a couple of big spending bills in Congress, with chief of staff Ron Klain comparing President Biden to the likes of FDR, Eisenhower and JFK.  'The president has delivered the largest economic recovery plan since Roosevelt, the largest infrastructure plan since Eisenhower, the most judges confirmed since Kennedy, the second largest health care bill since Johnson, and the largest climate change bill in history,' Klain told Politico Playbook.  'The first time we've done gun control since President Clinton was here, the first time ever an African American woman has been put on the U.S. Supreme Court,' he added. 'I think it's a record to take to the American people.'  This week Biden signed the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which injected $433 billion in new spending on climate and health care into the economy. The bill was a. trimmed-down iteration of Biden's Build Back Better plan, a massive spending bill that was killed by Sen. Joe Manchin last December. Manchin had said he could not vote for such spending amid 40-year-high...
A man in Columbus, Ohio was in for a surprise when what he thought was his dinner delivery ended up being an illegal substance courtesy of the Doordash app. According to ABC 6 in Columbus, the man, who gave an interview but chose to remain anonymous, placed a dinner order of Chipotle, through the popular app earlier this month. When his meal arrived, he unpacked the order only to find there was a sealed bag of marijuana at the bottom of the delivery, next to a fork. The delivery recipient told the news outlet that after snapping a picture of the bag, his delivery driver returned, asking for the order back and even offering to pay him money for it. Courtesy – ABC 6 – Columbus “He would give me my money back and refund me my order if I gave him my entire bag back, cause he claimed that it was medicine in the bag for his friend that was to be used for medical reasons,” he said. Of that total, Tesla's Shanghai factory has made one million cars, according to the tweet. "Congrats Giga Shanghai on making millionth car! Total Teslas made now over 3M," Musk tweeted. Musk's announcement comes after months of lockdowns and parts shortages in China that threatened Tesla's vehicle production, and suggests that Tesla's Shanghai factory is producing a significant number of new vehicles after opening in 2018 and subsequent years of investment. The total vehicles achievement celebrated by Musk on Sunday comes after Tesla's reported deliveries, the closest approximation for sales, have been rising in recent quarters. In July, Tesla said that it delivered 254,695 vehicles in the second quarter, a 26.5% rise year-over-year. But the milestone also highlights how small Tesla is compared to automotive giants. For example, Toyota delivered over 10 million vehicles in...
Before his first NFL preseason game Saturday, Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker had announced a goal of forcing a turnover. “Immediately,” the rookie told reporters earlier in the week. Brisker only came close to a takeaway in the Bears’ 19-14 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs — and he said he actually needed a bit of time to get comfortable — but the second-round pick still could leave Soldier Field feeling pretty good about his debut. On the Chiefs’ fourth series, Brisker delivered a big hit against wide receiver Skyy Moore, took down running back Derrick Gore for a 2-yard loss and nearly intercepted Shane Buechele’s pass intended for Noah Gray. Sure, the plays were against second-stringers, but it was enough to leave an impression on Bears coach Matt Eberflus. “The tackling. Deflecting the ball,” Eberflus said. “He should have had maybe a takeaway or two. But he was high-energy. Man, he likes to hit. I really liked that aggressive style for him, how he’s playing right now.” The Bears’ two other Day 2 draft picks — cornerback Kyler Gordon...
Antonio Brown released a statement on social media concerning his biggest regret and the former NFL wide receiver delivered a truly wild take.  The last image that former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown left NFL fans with was him ripping off his pads and shirts on the sidelines in New York and then running out of the stadium, essentially quitting football in the middle of a game that he’d taken the field during for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since his departure from football, Brown has remained vocal on social media while pursuing a musical career, performing at various festivals and venues over the past year or so. On Thursday, however, he decided to reflect about his regrets on social media, which led to one of the wildest takes that 2022 has seen yet (and probably will see going forward). Brown ran through many of his regrettable (at least for most people) moments in the NFL, from his unceremonious exit at the Bucs-Jets game, to his ill-fated Raiders tenure and the tribulations there, to his legal troubles in Florida. But none...

President Joe Biden said he authorized the drone strike that killed Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri near Kabul, and cited the terrorist’s role in planning the Step. 11, 2001 terror attacks and other barbaric acts. Zawahiri was killed by the CIA over the weekend in a safe house near Afghanistan’s Taliban-controlled capital. The president, who is in isolation after he tested positive again for Covid-19, spoke from a balcony at the White House. “Saturday, at my direction, the United States successfully concluded an air strike in Kabul, Afghanistan that killed Ayman Al Zawahiri,” Biden said. “Zawahiri was bin Laden’s leader. He was with him the whole time. He was his number two man, his deputy at the time of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He was deeply involved in the planning of 9/11.” Biden added: He coordinated Al Qaeda’s branches and all around the world, including setting priorities for providing operational guidance that called for and inspired attacks against U.S. targets. He made videos, including in recent weeks, calling for his followers to attack the United States and its allies....

The players need to stick to their diets so the chefs are happy to make meals and get them delivered to any player that wants them.” Many aces own £250,000 designer kitchens, while players such as Cristiano Ronaldo have previously hired private chefs. Getty LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers continue to put together a highly talked about offseason. For a brief moment, it seemed like an inevitability that Kyrie Irving would be traded to the team. While still possible, it’s looking less likely that it will happen each day. What also looks less likely is the Lakers trading away Russell Westbrook. The team has attempted to make a deal, including an offer to the Indiana Pacers, per ESPN. It’s proving to not be so easy to move off of the former MVP. Notably, LeBron James and Westbrook attended the Lakers’ summer league opener in Las Vegas. The two star teammates did not speak to each other the entire time. That led to much speculation that there was tension between the two. However, the tension may have been diffused. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, LeBron, Anthony Davis and Westbrook have recently spoken and cleared the air: The Los Angeles Lakers’ Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell...

Boeing said Tuesday that it delivered 51 passenger and cargo planes in June, the aircraft maker’s best month for deliveries in more than three years, as airlines saw demand recovering from pandemic lows. Boeing Co. shares rose 6% in morning trading. The company, which recently moved its headquarters to Arlington, Virginia, said it delivered 44 of its 737 Max airliners and seven larger planes that will be used to haul cargo. The deliveries were spread across about two dozen airlines, cargo carriers and aircraft leasing companies. However, Boeing again delivered none of its best-selling two-aisle plane, the 787, which has been plagued by production problems. The company is trying to win approval from federal regulators to resume deliveries, which are an important source of cash for Boeing. Boeing took new orders for 50 commercial jets in June, but customers canceled orders for 35. Of those, Boeing said, 28 cancellations stemmed from Norwegian Air Shuttle reshuffling its order book to drop 28 Maxes while keeping orders for 50 of the planes. Boeing said that it had a backlog of more than...
New York (CNN Business)Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of a 737 Max from Boeing in June, the aircraft maker disclosed Tuesday. It's the first time Ethiopian has taken a 737 Max since the March 2019 crash that killed all 157 people on board, and led to a 20-month grounding of the jet. The other airline that suffered a fatal crash involving the Max, Lion Air of Indonesia, has yet to take a new Max delivery. Boeing reported the delivery as part of its June orders and delivery report. Overall it was also the busiest month for 737 Max deliveries since the grounding ended in late 2020, with 43 of the planes being delivered to customers. It was also the busiest month for any kind of commercial plane deliveries by Boeing since March of 2019, with a total of 51 deliveries. It's a sign that demand for the plane is returning to pre-crash levels. The universe granted English actor Hugh Grant a wish as his fellow Brits blared the Benny Hill theme song outside the Palace of Westminster to celebrate Boris Johnson’s resignation as prime minister. Johnson agreed to step down as leader of the United Kingdom in the coming months after a massive revolt from within his own cabinet. Since the development presents a major shakeup for Britain and will likely entail dramatic consequences, Tory lawmaker Chris Philp gave an interview to Sky News in order to talk about what this would mean for the country Unfortunately for Philp, his thoughts about new leadership and the continuity of government were hugely sidetracked, thanks to the iconically-upbeat sounds of Yakety Sax playing in the background. This didn’t go unnoticed by Sky News since they thanked Philp for his time despite the humorous disturbance. If you were wondering how this might’ve happened, well, it may very well have something to do with Grant. Earlier in the day, Grant sent a tweet to anti-Brexit activist Steve Bray with some thoughts about using his loudspeakers to hold...

One Colorado couple got the delivery of a lifetime this week when a mistaken address led to them being the keepers of the Stanley Cup. The Colorado Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup in 21 years on Sunday when they beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6. It’s tradition that during the summer, each member of the winning team gets to spend one glorious day with the historic trophy, delivered to their house and transferred from player to player over the course of 100 days. On Monday night, one day after the historic win, the trophy was headed to Captain Gabriel Landeskog‘s house. That was, until the delivery driver made a simple mistake of reading the wrong house number. The trophy then landed on the doorstep of Dmitri Rudenko and his husband Kit Karbler home, Landeskog’s neighbors. “I was the first one who saw the car being parked in our driveway. I saw the car backing up,” Rudenko said. “The person opens the trunk and I saw the case and I recognized it,...

A Denver couple experienced the thrill of winning the Stanley Cup this week without every lacing up a pair of skates. Dmitri Rudenko and his husband, Kit Karbler, were at home in Denver's upscale Hilltop neighborhood on Monday, when they got an unexpected delivery that turned out to be the most famous trophy in sports. The Colorado Avalanche won the Cup only a day earlier by beating the reigning champion Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 of the Finals to clinch the 2021-22 title. Afterwards the Avs flew from Tampa to Denver, where the Cup was set to make its annual journey from one member of the winning team's home to another. On Monday, the Cup was scheduled to be with team captain, Gabe Landeskog, who also happens to live in Hilltop and has a similar address to Rudenko and Karbler. 'They're only one digit off,' Karbler told Denver's NBC affiliate. 'Because of that one digit, it was fortuitous for us.' The far right pushback to the searing testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, before the Jan. 6 committee Tuesday kicked in immediately. And of course the traditional media fell for the diversion. Some in the media are seizing on the trivial, falling for an attempt from Trump hangers-on to distract from Trump’s attempted coup. Because even when faced with a violent attempted overthrow of the government, there has to be both sides. First to fall was NBC’s Peter Alexander, who passed along a denial from an anonymous source “close to the Secret Service” who disputed the account from Hutchinson about what happened in the Suburban carrying Donald Trump away after his speech at his “Stop the Steal” rally. Hutchinson testified that Anthony “Tony” Ornato told her Trump was “irate” and “said something to the effect of I’m the f’ing president, take me up to the Capitol now.” When he was told by Secret Service Agent Bobby Engel that they had to return to the White House, Trump “reached up towards the front of...

(CNN)The five-justice Supreme Court bloc that overturned a half century of women's abortion rights on Friday had coalesced less than two years. But they had found their moment and they seized it. The is America's new Supreme Court, moving swiftly, rejecting the incrementalism of Chief Justice John Roberts, and upsetting individual privacy rights in an epic decision that will reverberate for decades. No matter how much of a preview the country received when an early draft was leaked in May, the sweep and audacious tone of the final ruling still breathtaking. Donald Trumps lasting legacy will now be the overturning of Roe v. Wade"Roe was egregiously wrong from the start," Justice Samuel Alito wrote as the majority jettisoned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion legal nationwide. "Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences." The court rejected that landmark and a series of abortion rights decisions that followed, including the 1992 decision that reaffirmed Roe as key justices then in the majority declared they might not have voted for Roe but accepted...

BUNGLING doctors cut off a baby girl's head and left it inside her mother's womb in a horror delivery, reports say. Former Vice President Mike Pence defended his role in refusing Donald Trump's demand that he send back votes in an interview on the same day the House January 6th committee played video of an aide who said Trump called him a 'p****.' Pence, who has not appeared before the committee, spoke as his former counsel Mark Jacob and former chief of staff Marc Short testified that they and Pence from the get-go a legal theory that the vice president had unilateral authority to reject certified votes. Trump and a circle of advisors was clinging to that theory until the last days of his presidency, and saying both publicly and online January 6 that Pence lacked 'courage.'  'Ultimately, I believe that most Americans understand that we did our duty that day under the Constitution and the laws of this country,' Pence told the Wall Street Journal. 'We did our duty,' former Vice President Mike Pence said of his decision not to accept electoral votes certified by states on Jan. 6th, when Congress met to count the votes that made Joe Biden...
In a new Substack posted this week, right-wing author Ann Coulter railed against pro-Trump filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza's election fraud film, 2,000 Mules, bemoaning it as "stupid," and saying, "Is there anyone in Trump World who isn't trying fleece the Deplorables? Haven't they suffered enough?" But her post quickly incurred the wrath of right-wing talk radio host Mark Levin, who decried Coulter as a "grifter." In her Substack post, Coulter made many of the same points brought up by experts who have debunked 2,000 Mules, including Trump's former attorney general William Barr. "The movie tells Trump diehards (a dwindling crowd) that their man probably DID win the 2020 election!" wrote Coulter. "Using cellphone tracking data obtained by 'True the Vote' (which sounds like a group named by Melania Trump — 'BE BEST!') D'Souza claims to have proof that 2,000 people delivered multiple ballots to election drop boxes in the five crucial battleground states that Trump lost." However, Coulter noted, the claim made by the film has several problems — cell phone data doesn't actually prove anyone delivered multiple ballots, and...
Trump-endorsed House candidate Katie Arrington delivered a strange apology to former President Donald Trump during a concession speech that also oddly name-dropped Satan. Trump endorsed Arrington in February over incumbent Rep. Nancy Mace, who committed the sin of speaking out against the insurrection, then lavished praise on Trump in a campaign video following the endorsement. “Katie Arrington is running against an absolutely terrible candidate, Congresswoman Nancy Mace, whose remarks and attitude have been devastating for her community, and not at all representative of the Republican Party to which she has been very disloyal. Katie Arrington, on the other hand, is liked and respected and a true Republican,” Trump wrote, in February, and went on to add “Katie is a wonderful woman and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Mace easily defeated Arrington in the South Carolina primaries Tuesday night, which resulted in one of the all-time awkward concession speeches from Arrington. Arrington began by thanking individual supporters and “One extra super special person. And that’s God.” Arrington then delivered a message that has never quite sunk in for Trump, telling...
The resilience of America’s restaurant industry was celebrated Monday night in Chicago as the James Beard Foundation Awards returned after a long pandemic hiatus. “You popped up, you went outdoors and you delivered,” Lori Lightfoot, mayor of the host city, said with an emphasis on the “delivered” as she congratulated the professionals in attendance. One of the first awards of the night, Humanitarian of the Year, went to Grace Young, the cookbook author and culinary historian who chronicled the plight of the nation’s Chinatowns — particularly New York and her hometown, San Francisco — when the restaurants and markets were forced to shut down early in 2020. The struggle continues, she said in her acceptance speech, noting that on a recent trip through S.F. Chinatown, she counted 46 shuttered storefronts. “They need our support now more than ever,” she added, imploring diners across the nation to do more. “Just show up. Go to your local Chinatown. Spend money.” In the regional chefs category, Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s restaurant — a standout in San Francisco’s Chinatown — was honored as...
