Revenge is a dish best served cold. Geno Smith spent four seasons with the Jets organization after he was selected in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Now, as a member of the Seahawks, he will have an opportunity to keep the Jets out of the playoffs, a place they last visited in the 2010 season. If Gang Green loses to Seattle, it will be eliminated from postseason contention. A win on Sunday and a Patriots loss to the Dolphins would set up a winner-take-all scenario in Week 18 in Miami. Seattle also has a lot to play for, as they’re a half-game out of the NFC’s seventh and final wildcard spot. “Not anything for me, I just feel like the importance of it is that we need a win to get to the playoffs,” Smith said. “Obviously, there will be some speculation and talk about that, it comes with the territory. “It is to be expected. I have a lot of love for the Jets, the organization and the people that are still there that were there...

Three games. Three opportunities for the Chicago White Sox to make up ground in the American League Central. Officials from Queensland's Parks and Wildlife service have asked locals to stay away from the huge eastern grey kangaroos in the area following attacks over the past year. In July, a 67-year-old Sunshine Coast woman was brutally attacked by a kangaroo on a walk in Maaroom. McDonald’s said Monday that it has started the process of selling its Russian business, which includes 850 restaurants that employ 62,000 people, making it the latest major Western corporation to exit Russia since it invaded Ukraine in February. The fast food giant pointed to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war, saying holding on to its business in Russia “is no longer tenable, nor is it consistent with McDonald’s values.” The Chicago-based company announced in early March that it was temporarily closing its stores in Russia but would continue to pay employees. On Monday, it said it would seek to have a Russian buyer hire those workers and pay them until the sale closes. It did not identify a prospective buyer. CEO Chris Kempczinski said the “dedication and loyalty to McDonald’s” of employees and hundreds of Russian suppliers made it a difficult decision to leave. “However, we have a commitment to our global community and must remain steadfast in our values,” Kempczinski said in a statement, “and our commitment to our values means that we can no longer keep the...

On the other hand, you’ve got the idea of appealing a decision to roll back that mask mandate that’s happening in public transportation. How do you reconcile the two? Can you?” Sanger responded, “You really can’t, Laura.” He continued, “So, what we learned is that the president, of course, had set a date a while ago, May 23, to lift the Title 42 elements of this. Now, what that means is — this is a health mandate, as you indicated, not an immigration mandate. And so, under Title 42, if you came over the land border from Mexico or from Canada, you would not be allowed to go through...

He made 14 of 21 shots and 5 of 8 3-pointers for 38 points in 38 turnover-free minutes. “The shots that he was making. After a rocky start for his new team which led to his manager demanding more from the star, he finally got off the mark for them against Dynamo Zagreb. However, now Football Transfers claims that Sevilla have already opted against trying to secure him long-term. Martial’s wages and the transfer fee being demanded by United make him ‘unattainable’ for them. And they report a source saying: “Sevilla won’t buy...
Getty John Lynch walks the sidelines before the January 2020 NFC championship game between the 49ers and Packers. March and April are the months with the heaviest workload for NFL general managers — including the man who is entering his sixth season at his GM post: John Lynch of the San Francisco 49ers. This is also, arguably, his most crucial offseason as the team prepares to deal with the following: Attempt to deal away the quarterback who took the team to two NFC title game spots in a span of three seasons, flash the big bucks to two prized draft picks from the 2019 draft class and lastly, decide which critical pieces to their 2021 NFC Championship game run are worth opening up the wallet and keeping. And the Hall of Fame safety already has one 49er in mind that, as he put it, the team will “make an effort to try and keep” when talking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday, March 2. With the start of the midterm cycle just days away, the fight over education continues across America as Republican state lawmakers push to require classroom materials posted online, while Democrats try to keep parents in the dark. Republicans are also seeking to enshrine acknowledgements of parental rights into state law with parental bills of rights. Debates over curriculum transparency raged last year, as parents became aware that their children were being exposed to critical race and gender theories at very young ages, sowing racial division and sexual confusion among America’s young people. Many attempts to uncover more of what children were learning were met with noncompliance from school districts or cost-prohibitive, penalizing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. In response, Republicans have been putting forth bills to make curriculums readily accessible to parents. Even Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said on the Senate floor that “American parents are speaking out. … The fact that woke bureaucrats are this terrified by transparency proves exactly why parents deserve it.” The Republican Party is uniting behind curriculum transparency. "American parents are speaking out,"...

"Spritz a little bit of rubbing alcohol to the top and use a brush to smooth it out," she said. After the alcohol evaporates, she said your makeup will be ready to use again. For broken makeup that just doesn't look like it can be saved, she said to empty the remains into a small jar and use a...

While Rodgers did say earlier this week after winning MVP that he’s undecided on his future, general manager Brian Gutekunst looks set to do whatever is needed to bring him back. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Packers are ready to spend as much as possible leading up to this season to try and entice Rodgers to run things back one more time. Will this be enough to get No. 12 onboard? Packers are prepared to go all in for Aaron Rodgers in 2022, spending as close to the cap this year and spreading it into future years as much as possible, per sources. Mayor Lori Lightfoot plans to present the Chicago Bears with a “compelling financial case” for the team to stay in the city and her administration will “explore” the possibility of placing a roof on Soldier Field, she said in a pair of interviews Friday. “We’re going to continue to do everything we can to keep the Bears in Chicago,” Lightfoot said on WSCR-AM 670. “We’re working on some plans to present to them that I think will make a very, very compelling financial case as to why it makes an abundance of sense for them to stay in Chicago.” The city can offer the Bears “a tier-one market, a tier-one audience, fan base, and I don’t think they can get that in Arlington Heights,” Lightfoot said. Lightfoot did not elaborate on what sort of financial arrangement the city can make that will keep the Bears from building a lucrative new stadium in the suburbs. But some experts have questioned whether anything short of a new building can convince the Bears to stay within the city limits. ...

The fighters for keeping Biden's vision alive. The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) made what, in retrospect, was a strategic error last Nov. 5. Their leader, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, in negotiations with Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Joyce Beatty and President Joe Biden, agreed to vote for the Senate’s hard infrastructure bill, decoupling it from the Build Back Better (BBB) plan and ending months of strategic efforts to get a win for everyone. Everyone, that is, but the corporate dark money forces ruling Democrats Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. The CPC and Jayapal are still trying to keep Build Back Better and the commitment President Biden made in it to America alive. They’re facing the same foes. Manchin and, less publicly, Sinema. Last November, progressive lawmakers ultimately decided to put their trust in President Joe Biden, who, in negotiations the night the infrastructure bill passed, insisted that he had Manchin in hand and that an agreement on Build Back Better was near. No one was prepared to recognize just how treacherous Joe Manchin would be. After all, he had just tweeted his seeming support...
The parents of a 12-year-old Florida girl who tried to hang herself twice at her school after 'months of secret meetings about her gender identity' are slamming the district staff who allegedly went behind their backs and 'created a double life' for their daughter. Wendell Perez, and his wife Maria Perez, allege the staff at at Paterson Elementary School - where their daughter was enrolled - violated their parental rights by failing to inform them of the alleged gender identity crisis and developing a plan to help her address it without their consent.  'We're talking about the staff from school this information and developing a plan of several sessions with my daughter, for months, talking about issues that are related and that the parents need to be involved,' Wendell Perez told DailyMail.com on Thursday. 'They basically created a double life for my daughter.' 'We're not talking about an isolated incident that a little kid mentioned something. They acted - they acted on it, for months. What is next? If we let them do that, what is next?'  He also likened the staff's...
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Amid a surge in attacks against Asian Americans in recent years, businesses in Oakland's Chinatown are taking new steps to try and keep their customers safe. Some, like Big Dish Restaurant, are doing that by switching from being cash-only to now accepting and actively encouraging people to use debit or credit cards."The customers they come in and say, oh Chinatown is very scary. And then they say they don't want to come to Chinatown," said Big Dish manager, Queenie Guan. The idea is that by carrying less cash, customers, and particularly, the elderly will be less of a potential target for criminals.RELATED: The story behind the stories about rising hate crimes against Asian AmericansDespite the transition from cash to credit, sales at Big Dish have actually increased, and business is better than ever."With limited cash in the pocket, they can only buy limited amount of items. So when you're accepting credit cards, they can buy so much more," said Carl Chan, the president of the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. But that doesn't mean the switch hasn't come with...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — While the Green Bay Packers have dominated the NFC North lately, there’s one division opponent they’ve struggled to solve. The Minnesota Vikings have won their last two matchups with the Packers and are the only NFC North team to beat them during Matt LaFleur’s three-year coaching tenure in Green Bay. The Vikings (7-8) will try to do it again Sunday night as they attempt to boost their playoff hopes amid potential single-digit temperatures in Green Bay. READ MORE: Vikings QB Kirk Cousins Tests Positive For COVID, Will Miss Game Against Packers“Our mindset is right now (that) we have to win the rest of these games,” Vikings running back Dalvin Cook said. “No matter how we win it, no matter how we do it, we have to go win.” They’re going to have to try to win without their starting quarterback. Minnesota put Kirk Cousins on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, making him unavailable for the Packers game. Sean Mannion, who just came off the reserve/COVID-19 list, will likely make his third career start. Cousins threw for 341 yards...

Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan on Thursday returned to off-day Zooming, recalling the days of last season when teleconferences were the only way reporters could communicate with coaches and players. After two postponements this week caused by the Bulls’ COVID-19 outbreak, a little Billy was better than nothing. Surely this won’t be the last time an NBA team decides to keep coaches and players away from media members, and we’re certain to hear that familiar 2020 refrain — “out of an abundance of caution” — more often in the coming weeks. The latest COVID-19 surge and the uncertainties over the omicron variant likely will bring more chaos to sports at the end of 2021 and the start of ’22. What a difference a month makes. On Nov. 14, at a Bulls-Los Angeles Clippers game at the Staples Center, the seats in media row were placed so closely together we could barely move without bumping shoulders. We were able to interview Donovan and DeMar DeRozan from a few feet away after the game, with reporters wearing masks and Donovan and DeRozan...
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Patrick Peterson made the most of the extra time between games and took advantage of the opportunity to exhale in the wake of a breathtaking near collapse. It was a chance for the Minnesota Vikings to steady themselves. Now, they’ll try not to stumble when they visit the struggling Chicago Bears on Monday night. READ MORE: Vikings' Depth Hurting; Westbrook Latest On COVID List“Everything is right there in front of us,” said Peterson, a three-time All-Pro cornerback. “We just have to go out and win the games that’s on our schedule. We know that’s not going to be easy. We know that’s going to be a very, very tough challenge.” The Vikings (6-7) barely avoided an epic collapse last week in a 36-28 victory over Pittsburgh. They led 29-0 on a Thursday night, then hung on when they forced an incomplete pass in the end zone on the final play. Ben Roethlisberger threw a perfect pass to Pat Freiermuth. Safety Harrison Smith hit the rookie tight end and dislodged the ball as Xavier Woods and...
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Ben Roethlisberger still believes the Pittsburgh Steelers have what it takes to be a playoff team. Time is running out, however, to prove it. “We’ve got to make a run,” Roethlisberger said. At this point, one step in the right direction would be considered progress. The Steelers (6-6-1) have been spinning their wheels for more than a month heading into a visit by AFC South-leading Tennessee (9-4) on Sunday, mired in a five-game funk in which they’ve won just once and been bullied in a way they haven’t been bullied in decades. A defense that finished third in the league last season is now in danger of finishing in the bottom 10 for the first time in 30 years. While Roethlisberger and the rookie-laden offense have had their fair share of issues, it’s what’s happening on the other side of the ball that’s been far more alarming. Three times in the last month the Steelers have found themselves trailing by at least 17 points. Twice they put together rallies to make it respectable, but respectable margins don’t...
