Screenshot via YouTube Conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza polled Twitter Tuesday over whether it is “appropriate to cheer” if China shoots down House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s plane for visiting Taiwan. Pelosi landed in Taiwan Tuesday amid a warning from a state media analyst that her presence in the self-governing island would equate to an “invasion.” The California Democrat ignored the apparent warning and was supported by more than two-dozen Republican lawmakers. The chiselled jaw and gym-honed physique are familiar from his 007 days, but Daniel Craig’s latest look suggests he’s been given a licence to thrill an entirely new audience. Wearing make-up and dressed in a black leather Brando biker jacket, low-necked T-shirt and silver chain, the 54-year-old star’s camp outfit for his latest role would certainly have raised an eyebrow with old chauvinist James Bond. Craig was spotted in Paris filming an advertisement for Belvedere vodka, the drinks brand which had previously signed a multi-million pound deal with Bond producers to put the martini – shaken, not stirred – back on 007’s menu. A Good Samaritan has described the dramatic moment a man threatened to shoot her when she stopped him from throwing his baby daughter off of an I-95 overpass. The father was holding the child over the 40-foot drop on Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia when a brave onlooker stopped her car and tried to rescue the young girl from the frightening height.  He screamed that he was armed and threatened to shoot the brave passerby - who hauled her car over on the highway and tried to negotiate with him when she spotted the chaos unfold. Christine King has been hailed a hero and she said she would 'do it again' as she reflected on the chaos yesterday. She told NBC10 she was driving along the interstate when she saw a man arguing with a woman, before he then grabbed the child and tried to throw her over the bridge. Police officers in Pennsylvania were forced to shoot a man's 15-foot pet snake in the head after it wrapped itself around his throat and gave him a heart attack. Cops were called after the reptile violently attacked its owner, 28, in Fogelsville, southeastern Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon. Paramedics, firefighters and police arrived at 2.12pm after a chilling dispatch simply stated: '28-year-old male with a snake wrapped around his neck.' Responders could scarcely believe what they saw, according to Upper Macungie Township lieutenant Peter Nickischer. He said: 'I heard part of that dispatch go out, and I had actually reached out to the chief and said: "What was that dispatch?" Upper Macungie Township police Lt Peter Nickischer said the officer 'did what he had to do' 'I think one of the officers described it as a scene from a horror movie and that's probably the most appropriate way to describe it', he told 6ABC. At first cops tried to cut the snake off the man's neck with a knife. But struggling to do so - and running out of time - an officer stepped...

A teenage girl from Germany says twisted Texas gunman Salvador Ramos warned her he was going to shoot up an elementary school 15 minutes before he opened fire killing 19 students and two teachers. The 15-year-old, known only as Cece, and 18-year-old Ramos had been messaging over Instagram and FaceTime for weeks after meeting online. Screenshots of the pair's correspondence, provided by the girl to CNN, reveal they were exchanging messages just after 11:01am CT - less than half hour before Ramos stormed Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.  The 18-year-old gunman had earlier told the Cece how he had shot his grandmother in the face and was planning to attack an elementary school.  'I just shot my grandma in her head,' he wrote at 11:21am. 'Ima go shoot up a[n] elementary school rn [right now],' he wrote seconds later. The deranged shooter killed 19 kids and two teachers and wounded dozens more less than half hour later. The girls says she now regrets not reporting the chilling texts to cops until after the massacre. Salvador Ramos legally purchased two AR-15 style rifles, including the one...
The U.S. has been feeding the Ukrainian military with real-time intelligence on Putin's war plan, which allowed Ukraine to shoot down a Russian transport plane carrying hundreds of troops in the early days of the invasion.  Ukraine's successful attack on the Russian IL-76 transport plane near the Kyiv airport in February was conducted after receiving info from the U.S. in an unprecedented intelligence-sharing operation with a non-NATO partner, former and current U.S. officials told NBC.  Two such planes were brought down around the same time. Details on which of the two aircraft were shot down thanks to US intelligence have not been shared. Russia hasn't disclosed how many troops died, but the planes can each carry up to 150 troops.   Although Russians eventually took the airport, Ukraine's campaign in the skies with U.S. intelligence impaired Russia's operations in the region and has helped Ukraine fight back its invaders, the officials, speaking under the condition of anonymity, added.   'From the get-go, we leaned pretty heavily forward in sharing both strategic and actionable intelligence with Ukraine,' one U.S. official briefed on the...

A middle school student arrested for threatening gun violence at two Pomona schools in a social media post told investigators it was a joke, police said. Around 5:35 p.m. on Monday, Pomona Unified administrators were notified by students and parents of a post in which there were threats to “shoot up” Marshall Middle School and Ganesha High School later that week, according to the Pomona Police Department. Resource officers with the police department determined the account belonged to a student at Marshall Middle School, according to a news release. When contacted, the student — a minor who was not identified — told police the post wasn’t intended to be serious, authorities said. Police found the student did not have access to a firearm and said that neither school was in danger. The student was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of violating a section of the state penal code referred to as criminal threats. The statute prohibits threatening to harm or kill someone when the threat causes the victim “to be in sustained fear” for their safety...
After being acquitted on multiple criminal charges for shooting three Black Lives Matter supporters (two of them fatally) at an August 2020 rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Kyle Rittenhouse was praised as a hero in the right-wing media, while many liberal and progressive pundits on MSNBC and CNN were horrified by the verdict. Never Trump conservative Tim Miller, meanwhile, didn’t agree with either viewpoint, describing Rittenhouse as a foolish, misguided kid who got in way over his head — not someone who should be either praised by the right or vilified by the left. Now, Rittenhouse is asking if the AR-15-style weapon he used in Kenosha can be returned to him in order to be destroyed. In a document filed in a Kenosha courtroom this week, attorney Mark Richards wrote, “Mr. Rittenhouse further wishes to ensure that the firearm in question is properly destroyed.” CNN reporters Aya Elamroussi and Joe Sutton explain, “The AR-15 firearm used in the shootings was purchased by Dominick Black, who was dating Rittenhouse’s sister at the time. Rittenhouse was too young to purchase and possess a...

Deputies arrived at Naples Zoo in Florida to find the animal with the man's arm in its mouth and said they were 'forced to shoot' to free him.  The maintenance worker was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.  Collier County Sheriff's Office confirmed the victim was a man with a third-party cleaning service contracted by the zoo. Whoopi Goldberg told her co-hosts Tuesday on ABC’s “The View” that the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse has sent the message “it’s OK to shoot White people too.” Goldberg said, “All eyes are on Wisconsin after lawyers made closing arguments on whether 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse traveling across state lines to take up arms before killing two men and wounding a third during a night of social justice protests and unrest were acts of self-defense or was it vigilante murder?” During closing arguments, prosecutor Thomas Binger said, “One of the things to keep in mind is that when the defendant provokes the incident, he loses the right to self-defense. You cannot claim self-defense against a danger you create … What you don’t do is you don’t bring a gun to a fistfight … What the defendant wants you to believe is, because he’s the one who brought the gun, he gets to kill.” Defense attorney Mark Richards said, “Kyle shot Joseph Rosenbaum to stop the threat to his person, and I’m glad he shot him because if Joseph Rosenbaum had got that gun, I don’t for a minute believe he wouldn’t have used it against somebody else.” Goldberg said,...

Judge Bruce Schroeder reacts to a statement made by Juror #7 in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial. (Image via the Law&Crime Network) Saying that the “appearance of bias is present,” the judge overseeing the intentional homicide trial of Kenosha, Wis. shooter Kyle Rittenhouse on Thursday morning dismissed a juror who made an inappropriate joke about the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Judge Bruce Schroeder talked with prosecutors and defense attorneys without the jury present to discuss the matter involving Juror #7’s purported joke on Thursday morning. “Why did it take seven shots to shoot Jacob Blake?” the juror allegedly said (according to Schroeder’s retelling). Lead prosecutor Thomas Binger said he heard the purported joke “fourth hand” but understood its phrasing another way. “Why did the Kenosha Police shoot Jacob Blake seven times?” Binger recalled being told the juror had asked. “It’s my understanding that the rest of the joke was: ‘because they ran out of bullets,'” he added. A Kenosha police officer shot Blake in Aug. 2020, leading to widespread protests that in turn lured Rittenhouse into the violent...

If you were ever wondering about a valid comparison on how long it takes Giannis Antentokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks to shoot a free throw, look no further.  The NBA Finals MVP, as we all know, is Giannis Antentokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. A close second would be all of the fans across the league who counted in unison (also a bit too fast) while Giannis shot his free-throws game in and game out. But the Greek Freak eventually found a rhythm after all of the heckling and finished out with some new hardware to his collection.   After a personal observation, it rounded out to nearly 11-13 seconds on average. But sometimes that’s not enough to just provide numbers, especially when there are better comparisons that can be used such as: the time it takes to tie your shoes, or get a coke out of the vending machine. Or maybe… the amount of time to run an Olympic track and field event.Giannis Antentokounmpo takes 13 seconds to shoot a free throwSometimes comparisons are better seen in a side...

CHICAGO -- Seconds after Anthony Alvarez was shot from behind by a Chicago police officer, the fatally wounded 22-year-old looked over at the officer and asked: "Why you shooting me?" The officer answered, "You had a gun."The dramatic exchange captured on video released Wednesday encapsulated a broader issue about whether the shooting of suspects in the back as they are running away is ever justified.State laws and Supreme Court precedent permits it under certain circumstances, though the fact a fleeing suspect has a gun doesn't automatically make such a shooting legal. Here's a look at the laws and how they might be relevant to the March 31 killing of Alvarez.ARE THERE DISPUTED FACTS?From the multiple videos released by Chicago's independent police review board, there's no disputing Alvarez had a gun. The United States Air Force is preparing to test launch a booster for its new hypersonic missile that is said to be capable of flying 20 times the speed of sound. The Air Force said that the test, which will take place sometime this month, will have a B-52H bomber carry an AGM-183A missile high into the air and launch it at more than five times the speed of sound. The missile, an Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW), would then deploy a dummy second stage that would ‘disintegrate’ somewhere in the atmosphere. The upcoming test this month will only test the missile’s rocket booster rather than the missile as a whole. The test flight will ‘demonstrate the booster’s ability to reach operational speeds and collect other important data,’ according to the Air Force. The Air Force said that it is planning to test the booster for a hypersonic missile that is designed to one day travel at more than 20 times the speed of sound. Family of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot several times in the back by a police officer, arrive at a news conference outside the Kenosha County Courthouse in Wisconsin on August 25, 2020. Reuters/Stephen Maturen Three young children between the ages of three and eight witnessed a Wisconsin police officer shoot their father multiple times in the back on Sunday. Children are taught from a young age to trust their parents to provide comfort and safety, and to trust police officers to protect them. Breaking that trust can be particularly harmful to children enduring trauma. "What this does is it makes it hard for kids to feel safe," Dr. Sarah Vinson of the Morehouse School of Medicine told Insider. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.
