House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was seen out in New York City on Saturday night with drunk-driver husband Paul as she mingled with pop stars and celebrities at the Global Citizen Festival. Despite his crimes, he hasn't been banned from driving, and will instead be forced to fit a special device to his car that'll make him take a breath test before its ignition starts.   Nancy Pelosi is pictured attending the  Global Citizen Festival 2022 in New York in...
The Hamptons hit-and-run driver who mowed down an 18-year-old man could finally be chucked in jail in the coming weeks, the victim's lawyer has told DailyMail.com. Daniel Campbell, 20, could get 90 days in prison for striking and killing  Devesh 'Devu' Samtani in Amagansett on August 10, 2021, attorney Benjamin Brafman said. He told how the devastated family were hopeful the sentence will be brought down on the defendant next month. It comes less than a month after DailyMail.com revealed Campbell had a string of previous driving offences before mowing down Samtani. They included speeding tickets days before the fatal crash, a head-on collision and even having his license stripped from him. Samtani had been walking along Old Stone Highway with his cousin Kabir Kurani, 18, and their friends trying to get service to get an Uber back home. But he was hit by Campbell - driving a Honda Pilot packed with nine passengers - so hard he flew 6ft into the air, with his shoes flying off his feet. Campbell allegedly then drove off and left the economics student to die on the...
By Keith Laing | Bloomberg Traffic fatalities on US roads declined in the second quarter, halting an almost two-year rise even as Americans are driving more. Some 10,590 people died in car crashes from April through June, down 4.9% from the same period in 2021, according to estimates released Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Fatalities had been increasing since the third quarter of 2020. “Although it is heartening to see a projected decline in roadway deaths in recent months, the number of people dying on roads in this country remains a crisis,” Ann Carlson, NHTSA’s acting administrator, said in a statement. Carlson recently assumed the role after Steven Cliff stepped down to return to the California Air Resources Board. A three-month old baby girl died after hitting the windshield when her mother veered into a road sign in a suspected DUI crash in Las Vegas. The victim, identified as Inaya Alston, was unrestrained in the front car seat at the time of the crash on Sunday August 28, but she did not die from her injuries until August 31.  The crash occurred just before 6:30am at Camino Al Norte and Edna Crane Avenue, according to court documents, when Kazjah Dillon, 24, smashed her car into the 'Las Palmares' neighborhood sign at Edna Crane. A one-year-old child also in the car, who was also not fastened in, is thought to have been seriously injured. A preliminary police investigation indicated that a 2012 Chrysler 200 traveling north failed to maintain a travel lane, leaving the roadway and striking the sign. Police said Dillon then fled the scene with her two injured children, although they were eventually tracked down. The ICU nurse who killed six people in a horrific fiery crash in LA earlier this month when she blew through a red light at 90mph suffered a 'frightening' mental collapse in the days leading up to the incident, it has been revealed. The revelation concerning the murder charges currently leveled at Nicole Linton, 37, came in the form of a filing from the LA nurse's defense attorneys, who insist their client suffered an 'apparent lapse of consciousness' at the time of the crash. Obtained by The LA Times, the filing offers a detailed narrative of the suspect's diminishing mental state in the buildup to the incident, which claimed the lives of a pregnant mother, her unborn child and one-year-old son, and four others. Linton, who is from Texas, is currently in custody on the six murder charges, which pertain to the five people as well as the unborn child. She is being held without bail, due to prosecutors belief that she is a flight risk and a danger to the community. The filing argues that Linton has 'no recollection of the events that...

Both planes had been on their final approaches to the airport when they collided approximately 200 feet in the air. One Cessna careened into an aircraft hangar off the runway and the other plane smashed into a grassy field nearby. Although the Watsonville airport is without a traffic control tower, the pilots involved were reportedly in communication via the common traffic advisory frequency. The smaller plane reportedly did not, however, have its transponder on, which would have otherwise enabled pilots to spot the aircraft on their displays. \u201cMultiple fatalities after mid-air plane crash at Watsonville airport. @nbcbayarea #SkyRanger over the scene. Scotland Yard chiefs face new concerns over their handling of a note detailing Princess Diana's fears she would be killed in a staged car accident. Diana voiced her fears to her lawyer, Lord Mishcon, in October 1995. She died in a car crash in Paris two years later alongside Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul. The mystery surrounding the note is revisited in a four-part documentary – Investigating Diana: Death In Paris – beginning tonight on Channel 4 to mark the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. After Diana's death, Lord Mishcon passed his contemporaneous typed account of their meeting to senior Metropolitan Police officers who put it in a safe. But the note was not passed to French authorities investigating her crash for six years. Diana's brother and sisters learned of its existence only more than a decade after it was written. Princes William and Harry were also left in the dark for a long time. There have even been suggestions of a mysterious addition to the note, which it has been claimed was designed to give cover to the...

UPDATE: A manhunt continued after a violent ex-con fled into the meadows near MetLife Stadium when police responding to a Route 3 traffic accident discovered that he'd been wanted on a parole violation, authorities said. Ali Scott, 35, of Newark, has spent nearly a dozen years in state prison combined during three separate stretches beginning in 2006, records show. He served nearly eight years for robbery from August 2010 to May 2018 and nearly two for vehicular homicide between 2007 and 2009. A San Jose homeowner says speeding drivers have crashed into his house at least 23 times since 1972, with four cars barreling straight through the California home. Ray Minter's home is located across the 680 South freeway off-ramp on Jackson Avenue in San Jose, California. Since the exit ramp was built in 1972, Minter says drivers have routinely sped off the ramp and into his home. 'Since the freeway has been there, I've had four of the cars come through my house completely,' Minter told KTVU. 'All the other ones have torn up my fence, and I've lost three cars in the yard.' One incident left a young family member injured. 'My youngest niece, she was young,' he said. 'She was right here on the curb and a lady came flying across and hit her. She was in the hospital for a couple of weeks and broke her arm.' Ray Minter, who has lived at the home since 1960, says the crashes did not begin until the nearby off-ramp was built 12 years later. Guttered votives, wilted sunflowers and a menagerie of pristine plush creatures marked the blackened corner where Armani Lester’s life ended before he took his first breath. Six bodies were found by the coroner at the Aug. 4 crash site in Windsor Hills. Six murder charges were filed against the driver of the Mercedes-Benz that barreled through the intersection of La Brea Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. The fiery collision was so violent, L.A. County Coroner spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said, that it tore Armani from his mother’s womb. Yet California law remains split over how to count the crash victims and what defines justice for pregnant women whose babies die before birth. “Under state law, the unlawful killing of a fetus can be charged as a murder,” a spokesperson for the L.A. district attorney explained. “There is no similar provision for vehicular manslaughter.” That’s why the driver, Nicole Lorraine Linton, 37, was charged with five counts of that crime. The registered nurse, who had been working at Kaiser Permanente’s West Los Angeles Medical Center, was speeding at more than...
