Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver George Pickens feels like he’s wide open on every route. Mitch Trubisky just isn’t finding him. Pickens was selected in the second round out of Georgia, and was expected to make an immediate impact on the field and in a crowded wide receiver room. That hasn’t happened, despite a successful preseason in which he formed some camaraderie with Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett. The offense just isn’t flowing for the Pittsburgh Steelers right now, and something needs to change. Perhaps Pickens could be that spark. “I just say that because I’m a big guy that runs in the low 4.4s,” Pickens said, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I always have a step on somebody and my step is naturally longer than the other person, and I’m actually fast. I’m always (going to) have a step and always feel like, 99 percent of the time, I’m open even though the ball gets there in the air and (the defender) gets time to catch back up. … But I’m open as soon as I get off the line.” Steelers...
Getty Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown views himself as "always open." When the Philadelphia Eagles traded for wide receiver A.J. Brown, they knew they were getting an upgrade to their receiving corps. They also got a big shot of confidence, as the 25-year-old brings a mindset that not every receiver has. “Even when I’m covered, I’m open,” Brown explained to the media on September 7. “Give me a chance. That’s my mindset, good thing is Jalen knows my mindset, so I’m excited.” Brown was answering questions about that mindset due to a sign he hung by his locker, declaring himself “Always open.” “Always Open” -AJ Brown’s locker pic.twitter.com/hzu4lViPgy — John Clark (@JClarkNBCS) September 7, 2022 “That’s new to Philly, it’s funny, I should have took that down, but it’s cool though,” Brown told a group of reporters who asked about the sign. “I kind of forgot you guys [in the media] were coming in.” Brown clearly prides himself on battling for contested balls, making catches in traffic, and using his body and positioning to create opportunities that other...

(CNN)What does it say about America that we are still in search of justice for the victim of an almost 70-year-old crime that helped spark the modern civil rights movement? Peniel JosephEmmett Till's legacy, both tragic and empowering, continues to reverberate as we approach the 67th anniversary of his lynching next month. The 14-year-old Black teenager from Chicago was murdered in 1955 in Money, Mississippi -- for allegedly speaking to a White woman in the Deep South -- and became the first martyr of the modern civil rights era. Till's death sent shockwaves across America and around the world, especially after his mother allowed his disfigured body -- which had been dumped in the Tallahatchie River with a heavy cotton gin fan tied to it -- to be viewed and photographed in an open casket. That picture was immortalized in the pocket-sized African American publication Jet Magazine -- and propelled a transformative moment in the national understanding of what Jim Crow racism looked like. Two recently uncovered pieces of evidence have prompted renewed calls for legal action in the case...

After winning the British Open, Cameron Smith gave an annoyed non-denial of swirling rumors he’s going to join the LIV Tour. Is Cameron Smith heading to the LIV Tour? That’s been the scuttlebutt in the golf world of late, but with no official declaration it seemed there might be a chance of him turning down the offer. Then the Australian golfer who won his first major at the British Open did a terrible job of putting an end to rumors of that inevitability on Sunday. Cameron Smith leaves door to LIV Tour wide open“Cam Smith was asked about rumors linking him to LIV, was fairly irritated by the question saying he just won The British Open. Added he let’s his team handle those things and he tries to win golf tournaments,” Brendan Porath tweeted. That non-denial has only strengthened the perception that he’s heading to the LIV. Getting so angry about the question simply being asked just shows he knows exactly what public sentiment about that move will be. The Saudi-backed golf series has grabbed major PGA Tour stars with...
CONGRESS has made one of its biggest moves yet to probe UFOs as lawmakers voted to create a secure database for reporting the mysterious encounters. US officials will now set up a reporting system for the sightings as well as offering protection for government whistleblowers who may wish to come forward about what they know about UFOs. 1UFO encounters have taken centre stage in Washington after a string of leaked videos The House yesterday voted to create the new system in a bipartisan amendment to the $850billion worth of plans National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). It comes as lawmakers have been pushing for more transparency on the typically fringe topic which has now become the talk of Washington DC. And while it was once the realm of conspiracy theorists, now former servicemen, politicians, defence officials, and even former presidents are talking about UFOs. The encounters even have a new name - Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP). LONDON — The U.K.'s ruling Conservative Party has begun its race to find its next leader, and the country's next prime minister, with eight candidates now in the running for the top job. The candidates all had to win the initial backing of at least 20 of their fellow Conservative lawmakers in order to proceed to the first round of voting which takes place Wednesday. In order to whittle the number of candidates down to just two, more votes will now take place – beginning Wednesday – with the 358 Conservative MPs asked to choose their favorite candidate to take over the party. Any candidate receiving less than 30 votes from his or her fellow MPs will be eliminated in the first round of voting. Then in the second round, the candidates with the fewest votes are eliminated. These rounds of voting continue until two candidates remain, which is expected to happen by the end of this week. When two candidates remain, all the members of the Conservative Party (some 200,000 people) are asked to vote by postal ballot on...
BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) — The Latest on U.S. Open (all times local): 8 a.m. The U.S. Open is wide open going into the weekend at The Country Club, and not just at the top. Collin Morikawa and Joel Dahmen are tied at 5-under par and won’t tee off until 3:45 p.m. Dahmen has never won on the PGA Tour and jokingly says that he’s used to being home at 5 p.m. to have dinner. The cut was at 3-over 143. That means only eight shots separate the leaders from last place with 36 holes to go. Such a small margin has only happened once in the last decade at the U.S. Open. That was in 2017 at Erin Hills, which wasn’t nearly the stern test Brookline has been. Erin Hills in Wisconsin is where a record seven players finished the U.S. Open at 10 under or better. The Country Club is expected to be firm and fast, and big numbers are easy to find. Among the players who made the cut on the number is Patrick Cantlay, the reigning PGA...

Four people want to become Alameda County’s top prosecutor, and with District Attorney Nancy O’Malley not running for the office she’s held since 2009, the June 7 race is wide open for them. The candidates are longtime civil rights attorney Pamela Price, former San Francisco prosecutor Seth Steward, Alameda County chief deputy district attorney Terry Wiley and Alameda County deputy district attorney Jimmie Wilson. By collecting more than 50% of the vote in the primary election, a candidate can win the seat outright. Otherwise, the two top vote getters will square off in the Nov. 8 general election. O’Malley, who served three terms as district attorney and  37 years total as a county prosecutor, faced only one challenger in 12 years — Price in 2018. For Price, “administering justice fairly” is the most important task of the District Attorney’s Office. But that hasn’t been the case, and it’s why she is running again, she said. “There is no more pressing, critical issue at this point than criminal justice reform,” Price said. Like some other reform-minded district attorney candidates across the...

Voters are heading to the polls in Ohio Tuesday morning for the expensive and contentious primary election where it's still anyone's game to replace retiring GOP Senator Rob Portman.  Ohio's Republican race will put former President Donald Trump's influence to the test after he backed a candidate many GOP voters in the state claim isn't conservative enough – J.D. Vance. The wide open race shows Vance in the lead with 26.2 percent of the vote, according to a Trafalgar Group poll released Monday. But competitor and state Senator Matt Dolan isn't far behind with 22 percent and former state treasurer Josh Mandel earned 20 percent in the survey. 'Polls open in about 10 minutes here in Ohio, and I just want to say thank you to everyone,' Vance tweeted on Tuesday morning. 'To the volunteers and early supporters, to my staff and the campaign team, to my family who allowed me to do this, and to the people of Ohio who will vote today. God bless you all!' Author Vance is going up against six other candidates on the primary...
With the deadline to vote in Ohio’s primary races approaching Tuesday night, the top candidates in the hotly contested Republican U.S. Senate battle have varying views on what the outcome of the race will be. “We’re spending the day before the election with voters at town halls all across Ohio, leaving no stone unturned. J.D. is in a strong position, and we are confident J.D. will be the Republican nominee,” said Taylor Van Kirk, a spokesperson for candidate J.D. Vance. Vance has been surging in the polls since receiving the coveted endorsement of former President Donald Trump. But others involved in the race say it is still a toss-up, and that any one of the top three candidates in the polls could win. A source close to Mike Gibbons’ campaign told The Ohio Star Monday that the mood of the campaign is “cautiously optimistic.” “Nobody really has any hard idea of how this thing is gonna end up,” the source said. “I think the reason [the Gibbons campaign] is optimistic is because [Trump’s endorsement of Vance] has helped him, but it...
On Monday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “National Report,” Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) dismissed claims that the Department of Homeland Security has a plan to deal with the border after Title 42 is lifted, stating, “they have no plan. Because the border is wide open.” And wondering why, if there is a plan to deal with border problems after Title 42 goes away, the plan wasn’t implemented immediately to deal with problems at the border before they reached the point that they’ve reached. After viewing a clip of Mayorkas stating that there is a plan for dealing with the border after Title 42 is lifted, Harshbarger said, “Well, my first thought is, if he had a plan, why didn’t he implement it when he was sworn in as DHS secretary? Why didn’t he combat this before it ever got to this point? … But they want to act like we have a plan now that’s going to save the country. Well, they have no plan. Because the border is wide open. And the 42 terrorists that have been caught, we don’t...
Sunday on New York WABC 770 AM radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) weighed in on the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Johnson accused the Biden administration of “facilitating” the “most evil people on the planet,” human traffickers, and allowing them to profit billions of dollars. He warned the administration lifting Title 42 would “signal to the world that our borders are completely wide open.” “What the Biden administration is facilitating here is literally the business model of the most evil people on the planet: these human traffickers,” Johnson lamented to host John Catsimatidis. “We literally are allowing them to pocket billions of dollars. How do you think the young girls pay for their human-traffic fee? We know how they do — through sex trafficking, human trafficking. We have testimony in our hearing about people selling children for $84 to form a family unit. That is what this administration is allowing to happen by throwing open our borders, dismantling the successful policies of the Trump administration. … Now we have a disaster on our hands.” He continued, “Last...
A great deal more Russiagate intelligence remains shrouded from public view and will stun the nation, according to former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe. The Trump-era spy chief expounded upon his expectation that there will be many more indictments in special counsel John Durham's criminal inquiry into the origins and conduct of the Russia investigation. "I expect there to be a lot more indictments to be forthcoming from John Durham besides the ones that have trickled out so far. And that's based on documents, some of which — many of which are not yet declassified," Ratcliffe said during a recent episode of the Charlie Kirk Show. Getty Carmelo Anthony, Lakers When the NBA season ended for the Lakers this month, forward Carmelo Anthony looked ahead to his future with a level of uncertainty appropriate for a 37-year-old who had just wrapped his 19th year in the league. Would he be back with the Lakers? “I don’t even know,” Anthony said. “I haven’t thought about next season at this point. I’m speaking very truthful and honest here. I haven’t even started thinking about my decision about next season, or what’s gonna happen, or where I’m at.” Retirement is a possibility. Around the league, though, it’s believed that Anthony will play at least one more year, having shown himself to be a useful option as a backup forward who can shoot, having knocked down 37.5% of his 3-pointers this season, after making 40.9% in Portland last year. That could be in Los Angeles, even with the rough season that the Lakers underwent after entering with such high expectations. He was excellent, remember in home games for the Lakers, shooting 42.7% from the 3-point arc, making only...
Getty Nikola Vucevic When the Chicago Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic in a trade-deadline deal during the 2020-21 NBA season, they already knew the All-Star center would likely be a liability in pick-and-roll defensive situations. After all, foot speed and dexterity on the defensive end had never been Vucevic’s calling cards. However, they expected him to rebound well–which he has at 11.2 boards per contest. Chicago also expected him to score in the post and to shoot well from three-point range. He handled those duties well last season, but Vucevic has struggled mightily to make shots consistently this season. Most embarrassingly, Vucevic has been plain horrendous when shooting the ball wide open.Nikola Vucevic Has Struggled to Shoot the Ball When Wide OpenNBA.com’s stat board defines “wide open” as a shot taken with the closest defender 6-feet of more away from the shooter. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Big 12 Tournament was the place where Kansas validated its regular-season conference championship each year, and usually confirmed its status as one of the top seeds and heavy favorites for the NCAA Tournament. That’s changed a bit over the years. Five different schools have played in the last three Big 12 title games, and three different schools have walked away with a trophy: Texas last season, Iowa State three years ago and the Jayhawks the year before that. And no school has won back-to-back titles since the Cyclones won the 2014 and ’15 editions before their typical raucous crowds. This year’s tournament figures to be just as wide open. Yes, the sixth-ranked Jayhawks are back as the top seed and will play the winner of an opening-round game Wednesday night between Kansas State and West Virginia. But third-ranked Baylor, the defending national champion, lurks as the No. 2 seed as it tries to win its first Big 12 tourney title, No. 14 Texas Tech is seeded third under coach of the year Mark Adams,...

A new poll shows a different shape of the Los Angeles mayoral race than previous polling, with no commanding front-runner. Rep. Karen Bass still has a small lead in the Loyola Marymount University Center for the Study of Los Angeles poll released Wednesday, but City Councilman Kevin de León is a close second. With the June primary just over three months away, more than 40% of self-identified registered voters remain undecided in the survey. About 16% of respondents said they would choose Bass if the election were held today and about 12% said they would choose De León. None of the other candidates in the poll were above single digits. “The race is wide open in my mind,” said Fernando Guerra, director of LMU’s Center for the Study of Los Angeles. “This poll says there’s an opportunity for someone to catch fire and catch up quickly.” Along with Bass and De León, Councilman Joe Buscaino, City Atty. The Cincinnati Bengals really need to find a way to protect Joe Burrow better. If they do that, then Super Bowl 56 ends in a much different way. Super Bowl 56 ended in the most painful way possible for Cincinnati. The Los Angeles Rams were able to end things by bringing Joe Burrow down in the backfield on fourth down. In a declaration under penalty of perjury that Renz plans to use in federal court, Drs. Samuel Sigoloff, Peter Chambers, and Theresa Long — three military doctors — revealed that there has been a 300% increase in DMED codes registered for miscarriages in the military in 2021 over the five-year average. The five-year average was 1,499 codes for miscarriages per year. During the first 10 months of 2021, it was 4,182. As Renz explained to me in an interview with TheBlaze, these doctors queried the numbers for hundreds of codes from 2016 through 2020 to establish a baseline five-year average. These codes were generally for ailments and injuries that medical literature has established as being potential adverse effects of the vaccines. Renz told me the numbers tended to be remarkably similar in all those preceding years, including in 2020, which was the first year of the pandemic but before the vaccines were distributed. But then in 2021, the numbers skyrocketed, and the 2021 data doesn’t even include the months of November and December. For example, some public health officials...

That’s why it’s more than a little surprising to see Tucker currently leading the league in 3-point percentage this season, at 46.2. It’s not a sample size fluke either — he’s averaging 3.0 attempts per game and by the end of next week will likely have surpassed his 3-point attempt total for all of last season. There’s almost certainly some random variance at play here but, in moving from the Bucks and Rockets last season to the Heat this year, he’s...
The team’s top pass-catcher in 2000 comes off a shortened season. But have Juju Smith-Schuster’s days with the Pittsburgh Steelers come to an end? Late last week, there was a possibility he would be back on the field. By Sunday evening at Arrowhead Stadium, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was playing in his first game since injuring his shoulder in Week 5. Mike Tomlin’s club was thumped by the Kansas City Chiefs, 42-21, in the club’s AFC wild card clash. The fifth-year performer was targeted eight times by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He finished with five catches for 26 yards. In those five regular-season outings in 2021, Smith-Schuster hauled in 15 passes for 129 yards and did not reach the end zone. Back in 2020, he led the Steelers with 97 receptions, good for 831 yards. He and Chase Claypool tied for the team lead with nine scoring receptions. I n five years and 63 regular-season outings with the Black and Gold, the 25-year-old pass-catcher totaled 323 grabs for 3,855 yards and 26 scores. He enjoyed a Pro Bowl campaign...
Even athletes who compete in ski jumping and a former Olympian paid to analyze the sport on TV have no idea who will win gold at the Beijing Games. That’s because more than a dozen men seem to have a shot. The list of contenders, though, might be reduced by one. Three-time Olympic champion Kamil Stoch has an injured left leg that is knocking him out of World Cup competition this week in his native Poland, and the ailment jeopardizes his chances of competing in the Olympics next month. Stoch won on the large hill at the 2018 Olympics, elevating his status as a superstar in a country obsessed with ski jumping. He rose to fame at the Sochi Games in 2014, when he won on the large and normal hills. If Stoch can’t compete in China, there are plenty of contenders ready to soar and take one or both of his titles. Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi is the world’s top-ranked ski jumper and Germany’s Karl Geiger is right behind him. Some talented and experienced Norwegians — including three-time Olympic medalist...
The Los Angeles Lakers had a chance late against the Grizzlies but passed up a wide-open Russell Westbrook before turning the ball over. The Lakers are in turmoil and the cracks only seem to be getting wider. On Wednesday, Los Angeles trailed the Grizzlies by three points with seconds on the clock. Russell Westbrook found himself wide open in the corner, but Malik Monk opted not to pass to him. The possession ultimately ended with a turnover. Despite the recent surge in illegal border crossings in 2021, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) will be hosting an “unconscious bias” training seminar for agency personnel, according to a CBP memo obtained by Fox News. The seminar, titled “Better Together: A Conversation on Unconscious Bias,” will be hosted by USCBP’s “Task Force for Women,” according to the memo. The memo lists Susan Fleming as the keynote speaker, Fox News reported. CBP officials, including acting CBP Commissioner Troy Miller and Patrol Agent in Charge Reggie Johnson,  will also be speaking. Miller and Johnson will discuss “the impact of stereotypes and unconscious biases in the workplace,” according to Fox News. Despite attendance being optional for personnel, the seminar has received negative reactions from some within the agency, with one agent calling the training “more woke bullshit,” according to Fox News. Getty Amon-Ra St. Brown celebrates his game-winning score against the Vikings in 2021. The Detroit Lions have a solid rookie class, and one of the players who hasn’t cashed in and made a huge impact was wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown. Detroit’s rookie wide receiver had flashed potential at times most of the year, but had been shut out of the end zone until the late stages of Week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings. With 9 catches under his belt already, number 10 couldn’t come soon enough for St. Brown as the game-winning play developed, especially considering how open the play ended up being for the team. The latest Lions news straight to your inbox! Join the Heavy on Lions newsletter here! Join Heavy on Lions! Speaking to the media after the game on December 5, St. Brown described the moment that he realized he was set to cash in his first touchdown of his career. As he said, he felt as if he was so wide open that the ball couldn’t get to him fast enough....
The battle to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond is 'wide open', according to MGM boss Pamela Abdy. Pamela, who serves as MGM's President of Motion Pictures, has revealed that the studio has had 'preliminary conversations' with 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson about who will replace Daniel – who bowed out as Bond in the recent flick No Time To Die.  'It's wide open. We've had very early preliminary conversations with Barbara and Michael, but we wanted Daniel to have his last hurrah,' she told The Hollywood Reporter. Three of the Ravens’ biggest pass plays this season have at least this much in common: No one bothered to guard the wide receiver running downfield. In Week 2, it was Marquise “Hollywood” Brown who was left unmarked as he ran a vertical route against the Kansas City Chiefs on a 42-yard jump-pass touchdown from quarterback Lamar Jackson. In Week 4, it was James Proche II who had an unbothered path across the field on a 32-yard catch-and-run to help put away the Denver Broncos in the fourth quarter. And on Sunday, it was Sammy Watkins whom the Chicago Bears forgot to pick up on a crucial 29-yard catch late in the fourth quarter, setting up running back Devonta Freeman’s go-ahead 3-yard touchdown run one play later. All three completions came on third down. All three came in the second half. And all three had a similar origin: with the wide-open wide receiver having started the play in a “bunch” formation to the quarterback’s right. Against Chicago, Tyler Huntley faced third-and-12 and a 13-9 deficit...
Getty Taj Gibson defends Giannis Antetokounmpo. The New York Knicks got off to a fast start this season but have since cooled off significantly and some fans are left wondering where the team goes from here. After looking strong early on, Kemba Walker is turning into a bit of a question mark as his production with the team slips and Derrick Rose continues to remain a rock for the Knicks. There aren’t a lot of changes the Knicks can make and perhaps the most important thing they can do is just get healthy. The big men tandem of Mitchell Robinson and Nerlens Noel hasn’t spent much time together as the two can never seem to be healthy at the same time. So far, both of them have been dealing with injuries to start the season. Perhaps that’s the reason why the defense has been rough so far, but the three-point defense has been shockingly bad. Take the recent game against the Milwaukee Bucks as an example.Knicks Aren’t Looking Good on D Per NBA tracking data, the Knicks allowed...
GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Officials from almost 200 nations worked through the night at the U.N. climate talks in Glasgow, trying to hammer out agreements on a range of tricky topics in time for a Friday deadline. Among the outstanding issues was international carbon trading, a subject that has nagged at negotiators since the landmark Paris climate accord was sealed in 2015. “We’re still at the stage of options,” a European negotiator told The Associated Press on Thursday. “But it’s moving forward. We still need that push though.” The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to be quoted. Fresh drafts of the documents on regulating international cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including the carbon markets section, were released overnight, as were new proposals containing various options for assessing and tracking financial aid for developing countries. Poor nations have insisted they will not back any deal that fails to address their need for funds to help cut emissions and adapt to the consequences of global warming, a problem they have contributed least to. Negotiators were hoping...
The Atlantic Coast Conference divisional races are far from decided and several schools still have a shot at winning the league crown. Virginia defensive lineman Mandy Alonso is enjoying the journey. “This is like what you train for and all season, you want to be in these positions,” Alonso said. “We put our team in a good enough position to have our goals in reach.” Virginia is not alone. Wake Forest remains the only unbeaten team in the Atlantic Division, but after allowing 330 rushing yards in its 58-55 loss to North Carolina, a Coastal Division foe, the No. 13 Demon Deacons may have exposed the blueprint to beat them. Coach Dave Clawson’s team (8-1, 5-0) still has to play North Carolina State (7-2, 4-1) and at Clemson (6-3, 5-2) — both still in the race for the division crown. “Big game ahead of us – I think everyone knows that,” Wake Forest offensive lineman Sean Maginn said this week. The No. 21 Wolfpack, 27-21 winners in double-overtime against Clemson earlier in the season, play in Winston-Salem on Saturday and...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs coach Andy Reid wouldn’t say Wednesday whether the reigning AFC champs were pursuing Odell Beckham Jr. Then again, he didn’t say they weren’t. Beckham became a free agent Tuesday after the wide receiver’s acrimonious split with the Browns, and the Chiefs — with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes — are among the destinations that he’s rumored to be considering. “That’s (Brett) Veach’s area. He looks at everybody,” Reid said of Kansas City’s aggressive general manager. “You guys know how he does it. I’ve been in a bunker trying to get my work done. I haven’t really talked to him.” The pairing would make sense, though. Beckham reportedly wants to spend the rest of the season with a contender, and the Chiefs have been to three straight conference title games and are trending up in the AFC West after a lousy start. Yet their offense has continued to struggle to live up to the lofty standards it has set over the years, and Beckham could provide the jolt that it needs. The Chiefs already have made...
Prevea Health and Aaron Rodgers end partnership Deportees despair despite US-Mexico border reopening Michael Porter Jr. had what should have been an easy dunk on Saturday afternoon in the Denver Nuggets' 95-94 win over the Houston Rockets at Ball Arena. Or, at the very least, he could have passed it up to one of two teammates who were ahead of him on the breakaway play. Instead Porter Jr. delivered what should go down as the worst missed layup of the season. After coming up with a loose ball near midcourt in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon, the Nuggets forward somehow completely fumbled the play. Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets had a wide-open layup during Saturday’s game against Houston Rockets, and missed it. When you get a wide-open layup attempt as an NBA star, you have to make the most of it. Unfortunately for Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets, he missed on that opportunity during Saturday’s game against the Houston Rockets. In the first quarter, Porter had a wide open lane to the basket and went to leap for what should have been an easy layup attempt. Instead, he completely bungled it and prevented an easy two points for the Nuggets. Samantha Jones is not dead! That's what Sex and the City insiders tell DailyMail.com as they reveal Kim Cattrall's character is not being killed off, but instead her absence from the series is explained as having a falling out with Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw.  The insiders say the writers have left the plot open for Cattrall's return and are hoping she'll come back to reprise her role for Season 2. 'We'll announce eventually that the show will have a second season. This isn't a one off, this will be a series,' they said. 'It will be quite a while between the first and second series as Sarah Jessica Parker has a busy schedule and we have a lot of work to do to get Kim Cattrall back.  'We all miss Kim and we hope she comes back for the second season – the door will never close on her, she is an important part of the franchise,' they added. Halfway through the NFL season, the NFC has five established contenders. Meanwhile, the AFC is more wide open than any conference in recent memory. Want to pick the AFC favorite? Grab paper, scissors and a hat. Through eight weeks, there’s no frontrunner. Hell, we barely know who the runners are. Entering the season, the Kansas City Chiefs were the odds-on favorites. That shifted around the start of October, when the high-flying Buffalo Bills outscored opponents by more than 100 points between Weeks 2-4, and then smashed Kansas City in Week 5. However, the Bills followed that win up by losing to the Tennessee Titans, who hammered the Chiefs six days later. During these stretches, the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens were both considered top dogs. This before the Chargers were crushed by the Ravens in Week 6, only to be handled 41-17 last week by the Cincinnati Bengals, who were the AFC’s top seed going into this weekend. Yes, the same Bengals who lost 34-31 to Mike White and the New York Jets yesterday. Got all that? Welcome to...
