OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER said he never lost hope against Villarreal because Manchester United had Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star scored in the dying seconds to hand United a dramatic - though slightly undeserved - win at Old Trafford in the Champions League. 2Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Cristiano Ronaldo 'always gives you a chance' 2His comments came after the Portuguese star scored a dramatic late winner against Villarreal Ronaldo, 36, had barely done anything in the game until he stole the headlines at the death. United were drawing 1-1 after Alex Telles' sumptuous volley had cancelled out Paco Alcacer's deserved opener. They had the phenomenal David De Gea to thank for keeping them in the game and could have been several goals down if it wasn't for the Spaniard. But as the clock ticked into the sixth minute of stoppage time, Fred looped a ball in, Ronaldo cushioned it down to Jesse Lingard, he drew the goalkeeper and defenders to him, poked it back to Ronaldo and CR7 drilled it into the net. There was pandemonium at Old Trafford but Solskjaer reckons his side always had...
Ups and downs are normal parts of running a business. Having a 40-year-long career as a businessperson is plenty of time to give way under a down. It’s clear that Roberto Maggio never did, if not from the fact that he’s still in business than from the fact that he’s referred to as “the man who never gave up.” Question: What have those 40 years meant to you? Roberto Maggio: A long experience. It allowed me to collect anecdotes and teachings that can be useful, or at least of interest, not only for those approaching the business world but also for those who are simply intrigued. I am also lucky enough to enrich this knowledge with new experiences. I get them from my travels around the world, which I document through the lens of the camera. Q: Is that how the Other Places project got started? Roberto Maggio: I created a website to host a collection of my photos. I also launched a message on social media to collaborate on the project via the hashtag #otherplacesnet. The feedback from all...
Family members separated years ago were brought back together when 59-year-old computer analyst Martin Hauser of Mesa, Arizona, met his younger brother on April 23. Hauser was adopted as an infant in North Carolina and has since spent over three decades looking for his biological family through websites and DNA programs, KENS reported. “It was rough. It was hard; it was mentally exhausting,” he recalled. “But I never gave up.” A few years ago, he joined a Facebook group that helps adopted kids connect with their biological family members. Thanks to a change in North Carolina law allowing agencies to assist people with finding their biological families for a nominal fee, Hauser located his dad’s death certificate. It said his father had a son named Joseph B. Shaw Jr., so Hauser tracked down Shaw using Facebook. His brother, known as Joe, renovates homes in North Carolina. “We’ve been talking and texting ever since,” said Hauser, adding a DNA kit confirmed their relationship. He also found out he has an older half-sister and another sister who passed away from cancer. When...
By DANA HUNSINGER BENBOW, The Indianapolis Star INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — How their teenage love story would end was beyond their control. Donna Horn, a beautiful cheerleader, was pregnant. Joe Cougill, a star high school athlete, was the father. On a spring day in 1968, the Cougill and Horn families sat down to talk, but mostly it was the fathers who talked. “Joe will do whatever you want him to,” Joe’s dad said to Donna’s dad, according to Cougill. “If you want Joe to marry Donna, he will marry Donna. If you want Joe to keep this secret, Joe will keep it secret. If you want Donna to have the baby, Joe will support her. If you don’t want him to be part of her life, Joe won’t.” Donna’s father wanted Joe to never speak to his daughter again. Amid the tears and heartbreak brought on by an abrupt end to a two-year love story, the mandate was issued by the parents, and the promise was made by the teens. Joe would never call Donna again and Donna would never call...

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Antonio Brown says he’s grateful to be back in the NFL, let alone preparing to play in the Super Bowl. The talented but sometimes volatile receiver joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers midway through this season after serving an eight-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, a ban that left few options to resume a prolific career derailed by his off-the-field issues. And while Brown said Wednesday that he didn’t consider reuniting with Tom Brady as a final chance to prove he’s learned from his mistakes, the 32-year-old receiver stressed he’s “extremely” appreciative of the opportunity to help the record-breaking quarterback pursue his seventh championship ring. “I just think it was my only chance to be able to prove — not only to the doubters but myself — I’m still a high-end football player, still love the game,” Brown said. “I never gave up or gave in. I stayed consistent and persistent to my goals and vision.” The NFC champions were 6-2 and really didn’t have a pressing need for another offensive playmaker when general...
Getty Ezekiel Elliott “Because I am a competitor,” Ezekiel Elliott prefaced, the Dallas Cowboys‘ star running back lobbed an extremely pointed message at the detractors who not long ago left the team for dead — the same team that now is staring down a division crown. “If you gave up five, six weeks ago, we don’t even want you on our side,” Elliott said following Sunday’s 37-17 win over Philadelphia, via InsideTheStar.com. “I mean, we are competitors. This whole team is. We are a team of competitors. I mean, we weren’t out of it. All we have to do is, we’ve got to win next weekend and we need a little help from the guys we just played. But, you know, I like how this team is playing football right now. Coach McCarthy said his plan was for us to trend up through the season. And right now, I think we’re catching fire at the right time.” Vindication never felt so good for Elliott, who turned back the clock in his return to the starting lineup. The three-time...

When Robb Cunningham was feeding feral cats, he had an unexpected visitor, a three-year-old Pit Mix – who is now named Buster. Buster must have known Robb had a kind heart because the dog laid down close to him. “He was just a mess, just skin, and bones, emaciated,” Robb told KMOV. One of the feral cats went over to say hello to Buster and the little pup got scared, showing his gentle soul shining through, despite his unimaginable injuries. Robb reached out to Missouri K9 Friends for help and Buster is now being treated at the Veterinary Specialty Services in Manchester. Mandy Ryan with Missouri K9 Friends says that Buster’s teeth have either been pulled out or filed down. He has open gashes and scars, one leg needs surgery for an ACL injury, he has bed stores and an injured toe.  Buster’s injuries are indicative that he might have been used as a “bait dog” for a fighting ring. Bait dogs are typically docile dogs, used as “bait” to train the aggressive ones. It is common practice for bait dogs to be cut so the...
“I feel so lost without her right now. It’s hard to think waking up without her tomorrow,” said Lenny Neeland. She is talking about her oldest granddaughter, 18-year old Raina Neeland. She said their bond was instant at birth. “I put my finger out and she took her little hand, and she wrapped it around my finger and that was instant boding right there,” said the grandmother. Their last picture together was taken at a baby shower the day before the tragedy. I never loved somebody so much in my life,” said Lenny Neeland. Monday afternoon, Raina, along with eight other family members, went to cool off at the Clearwater Dam, when three of her cousins, ages 6, 8, and 10, got swept over the dam just moments after getting in the water. Brendon Todd (65) ‘excited and happy’ to build on early season momentum Why Paul Feig Never Gave Up on Cult Hit Other Space © Gunpowder and Sky; Inset: Lars Niki/Getty Images For the past five years, filmmaker Paul Feig has spent his time in the features world, directing films such as Ghostbusters (2016), A Simple Favor (2018) and Last Christmas (2019). Yet all along he's been hounding his agents about a much smaller project: Other Space. In 2015, Feig created the little-seen sci-fi comedy about a crew of misfit explorers trapped in a parallel universe. The show was released to little fanfare on the now-defunct platform Yahoo! Screen, but in the years since has developed a tiny cult following. In 2017, Feig went as far as putting the show on his Tumblr account in hopes of building an audience. Now, after years of trying to get the show a new streaming home following the collapse of Yahoo! Screen, Feig's dreams are coming true with Other Space's first...

THE phrase “crowning glory” could have been invented to describe Vick Hope’s hair. Her beautiful curls form a key part of her identity, but she admits that it’sonly in the last few years that she’s found the confidence to truly embrace them. 7Her beautiful curls form a key part of Vick's identity “I never saw hair like mine in magazines or on TV,” she says. “I thought it was horrible and frizzy and it didn’t look like any of the girls at school.” Growing up in Newcastle, Vick rarely saw Afro hair outside of her immediate family and it reinforced the feelings of being different and “not quite good enough” that she’s wrestled with all her life. She remembers as a young girl, wearing a T-shirt around her head and running around in the wind, imagining her hair was the “soft, straight and flowy” texture she longed for. Whenever Vick and her Nigerian-born mum Adeline needed a haircut, they had to travel 100 miles south to Leeds, because back in the ’90s, there were no local salons catering for...
