AEW hosted NEW Year’s Smash on Dynamite this week (January 6th). In the main event, Kenny Omega retained his AEW World Championship against Rey Fenix. However, the show was far from over. WWE announced the signings of Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz earlier this week. However, the absence of their former Impact Wrestling tag team partner Trey Miguel was noticeable. Miguel was expected to join his stablemates at the Performance Center, but the rising star appears to be keeping his options open for the time being. That’s because AEW is reportedly hoping to beat WWE to landing the star. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, by way of Sportskeeda, both companies are interested in Miguel’s signature. As of this writing, however, the former Impact star hasn’t made a decision regarding his future. The report clarified that WWE’s interest in acquiring the talented performer is still strong. Some fans and pundits wondered if the promotion only wanted to acquire his stablemates. However, they could still be reunited in the coming weeks. The announcement, which came after Omega defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW World title, also confirmed that both companies had entered into a working relationship, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio has provided further details. According to Meltzer, by way of Ringside News, the plan had been in the works long before last night’s Dynamite. It is believed that Callis pitched the idea to Tony Khan, and the AEW president went with it. The journalist also stated that the partnership will see both companies exchange talent. According to the pundit, it’s the ideal way for Impact Wrestling’s stars to become familiar in the eyes of the AEW faithful, as some of them will be regulars on the company’s programming someday. “It does open up the doors for people which is great for Impact because some of their guys are going to end up on AEW television probably.” The Ringside...

As he and Omega ran off to a black car, Callis said, we will find out what’s going on this Tuesday on Impact Wrestling on AXS TV.  Moxley and Omega put on a very good match that got the wonky and unfulfilling finish to set up the Impact angle. As documented by WrestlingNews.co, Impact Wrestling has revealed that WWE legend Jazz is coming out of retirement to team with Jordynne Grace during the Knockouts Tag Team Tournament to crown a new champion. The duo will pair up next week to take on Killer Kelly and Renee Michelle. The news might be a surprise to some fans, as Jazz announced that she had wrestled her last match earlier this year. Her original intentions were to participate in a farewell tour before hanging up her boots. However, those plans were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing travel restrictions and forcing most companies to enter a hiatus period. As the WrestlingNews.co article highlighted, Jazz opened up about her decision to call it a day during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet. “I’ve been having issues with my knees and my back and a lot more issues physically, mentally and emotionally. That’s why I had to forfeit the NWA title. I have two beautiful daughters and I have to focus on them right now.” Prior to her retirement, Jazz worked in...

According to Wrestling Inc, Impact Wrestling’s The Rascalz faction — Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel — are reportedly set to join WWE. The group members haven’t signed contracts with Vince McMahon’s promotion yet, but they’re expected to do so in the coming weeks. They will presumably join NXT and receive character makeovers upon joining the company. As the report highlighted, the performers are currently free agents. Impact has written them off of television courtesy of an eviction storyline that stems from them not paying rent in over two years. The trio will have their final match on next week’s episode of the company’s weekly television show. Miguel is scheduled to team up with Rich Swann to face Xavier and Wentz. The match will be a final farewell to the competitors. Swann is their friend and he wants to make sure they leave the promotion with a bang. The bout should be an emotional occasion for their peers and fans alike. All three Rascalz members signed with the company in 2018. Miguel was even pushed as a top singles...
WWE has reportedly completed the signing of Benjamin Carter, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. This comes following Miro’s recent revelation which stated that the promising star had signed with Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment corporation. As documented by WrestlingNews.co, Carter was reportedly at the center of a bidding war for his services. He recently competed on AEW and Impact Wrestling television shows, and both parties reportedly wanted the promising performer to join their respective rosters. Carter made a name for himself while competing for AEW and Impact. He had matches against top stars such as Scorpio Sky and Chris Sabin, which suggested that management in both promotions think highly of him. It is still unknown if either of the rival companies offered Carter a full-time deal. As The Inquisitr previously documented, he was wrestling for free in both companies due to visa issues that prohibited him from accepting compensation at the time. The chance to join the NXT UK roster may have influenced Carter’s final decision. As The Inquisitr documented, WWE planned to use him in this...
Ronda Rousey has been a part of many WWE return rumors as of late. THe latest news regarding her social media activity has further strengthened those rumors. In a tweet, former Impact Wrestler, James Storm, revealed that the former WWE Raw Women’s Champion invited him to a training session. Her husband, Travis Browne, was present too. He expressed appreciation over this invite. He concluded the tweet with a comment wherein he compared Ronda Rousey with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. Big thanks to @rondarousey & @travisbrownemma for the invite to do a little wrestling around. I’ve met a lot of people that come from different sports but none besides @therealkurtangle that have the respect for pro wrestling like she does. pic.twitter.com/i0vjd5vQI2 — The Cowboy (@JamesStormBrand) October 17, 2020   Ronda Rousey may have extended her contract This is not the first time that Rousey’s return is making rounds within the WWE Universe. Previously, Paul Heyman had made a comment during an interview that indicated that WWE may have extended her contract instead of letting it expire. “Everyone presumes that...
According to a new report, former Impact Wrestling veteran James Storm was supposed to join WWE earlier this year before these plans were derailed by the coronavirus pandemic, just as he claimed in an interview last week. However, it appears that he was going to be brought in as a jobber who would presumably lose most, if not all of his matches. Citing a “tenured” member of WWE’s creative team, Ringside News wrote that it is “100 percent true” that Storm was on his way to WWE prior to the pandemic and that his employer at the time, the National Wrestling Alliance, was willing to grant him an early release. Likewise, the publication noted that there were plans for him to make an immediate main roster debut on Monday Night Raw instead of going through NXT. The caveat, as explained, was that he would be used as a “qualified” enhancement talent, as the red brand’s then-executive director, Paul Heyman, was looking for such wrestlers. In addition, the publication noted that Storm was chosen for the role because of his reputation...
James Storm, who rose to fame as one of Impact Wrestling’s top stars when it was still known as TNA, revealed in a recent interview that he was supposed to make his official WWE debut earlier this year, only for his signing to get indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, Pro Wrestling Sheet shared some excerpts from its interview with Storm, including the part where he talked about how he was so close to signing with WWE earlier this year. He recalled that the company reached out to him via email in January, telling him that it was interested in his services and that Paul Heyman, who was then working as executive director of Monday Night Raw, wanted him to debut straight away on the red brand. According to Storm, this was an “interesting” proposal, as he believed that his former Impact tag team partner, Robert Roode, was about to move to Raw. Storm went on to explain that while he was still under contract with the National Wrestling Alliance when WWE made the offer, though company...

The Casino battle Royal at AEW All Out saw a huge debut. Former WWE Star Evan Bourne (now going by Matt Sydal) entered as a surprise participant in the 21 man Casino Battle Royal. FORMER WWE star Brian Myers has sensationally slammed Vince McMahon for the "disgusting" treatment of his career. The 35-year-old - best known as Curt Hawkins - was released from his contract in April 2020 as part of budget cuts due to the coronavirus pandemic. 3Brian Myers has launched a sensational attack on Vince McMahonCredit: WWE Myers' wife was six months pregnant at the time of his release and revealed how she broke down in tears over the news. He has since joined Impact wrestling where he had the opportunity to launch a remarkable outburst at WWE CEO McMahon. He said: "Have I always played by the rules, done everything I’ve been told, listened to veterans? "Where did it get me? Where did it get me in this business? Fired with a wife six months pregnant sitting at home. "I’m so sick of being referred to as somebody’s good hand. "It disgusts me that major decisions in this business are made by some out of touch 70-year-old man in some goofy production meeting. "Not...
Days after an interview where Good Brothers members Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson revealed that they are trying to convince their longtime friend AJ Styles to return to Impact Wrestling, the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion chimed in on the matter on his most recent Twitch stream. As quoted by Wrestling Inc., Styles admitted on Wednesday night that his former colleagues are indeed trying to talk him into returning to the company where he first became a top-tier star in the wrestling scene. He reiterated the points he made in past interviews about wanting to finish his in-ring career in WWE but also suggested that people should “never say never” when it comes to his future career moves. Styles then touched on Impact’s most recent additions to its roster, which were highlighted by the debuts and returns of several ex-WWE superstars — including The Good Brothers — at last month’s Slammiversary pay-per-view. “Not to say that they don’t have a lot going on right now. Man, they’ve got some strong talent. Not that they didn’t have good talent before, but they’ve...
On this week’s Monday Night Raw, Shane McMahon returned to WWE programming to announce a segment called “Raw Underground.” The recently launched project, however, appears to have gotten polarizing reactions from people within the industry, including a number of Impact Wrestling personalities who commented on the segment in a series of tweets on Tuesday. As quoted by Wrestling Inc., the discussion started when announcer Josh Mathews replied to a tweet from Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo, who was then in the middle of an exchange with one of the company’s recent signees, former NXT superstar Kimber Lee. “This one might need to be settled on #IMPACTUNDERGROUND Jk Jk,” he tweeted. Not long after, another WWE alumnus, Karl Anderson, expressed his apparent distaste for an “Impact Underground,” writing that he’d want “anything but that” in the company. This was followed by a post from co-executive vice president Scott D’Amore, where he seemed amused by the previous remarks. “I expect this from @THETOMMYDREAMERor but not a corporate VP or @IMPACTWRESTLING! Welcome to the don’t give a F gang! This tweet might just win...
On April 4, 2020, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson were involved in the most talked-about match at WrestleMania when AJ Styles lost to The Undertaker in a Boneyard Match.  Surprisingly, just 12 days later, WWE released Gallows and Anderson amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The duo reemerged on July 18 as the newest signees of IMPACT Wrestling at their Slammiversary pay-per-view — but not before they held court with a revealing interview on their Talk ‘N Shop podcast that pulled the curtain back on their time with the WWE, discussed joining IMPACT Wrestling and their own upcoming pay per view Talk ‘N Shop A Mania that takes place on Aug. 1.  Gallows sat down with Sporting News to plug some holes from their revealing interview, including what the Bullet Club thought of The OC, tag team wrestling in WWE, when they will return to New Japan Pro Wrestling and the twists and turns leading up to their debut at Slammiversary.   MORE: WWE PPV schedule 2020: Dates, locations for every announced 2020 wrestling event Sporting News (SN): What’s the feedback been like after...
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently aired his thoughts on EC3’s return to Impact Wrestling via a taped vignette at the Slammiversary pay-per-view, suggesting that his former employer missed out on a great opportunity by mostly booking him as a lower-card enhancement talent. On Wednesday night, Foley tweeted a side-by-side photo of EC3 and former WWE superstar Robert Maillet, who saw action for the company in the late 1990s under the ring name Kurrgan. After joking that the two men might be one and the same due to their similar facial appearance, he added toward the end of his caption that he believes the company “really missed the boat” with the former Impact Wrestling World Champion during his two-year-long second stint with the promotion. Have #EC3 and #KURRGAN been the same guy all along? Has anyone seen @Robert_Maillet & Ethan Carter III in the same place at the same time? Brian Myers, who is now competing under his real name after mainly going by Curt Hawkins in WWE, was revealed on Tuesday night as Impact Wrestling’s latest acquisition, just three days after several other former superstars debuted or re-debuted at the Slammiversary pay-per-view on Saturday. As seen in the video below from the promotion’s official Twitter account, Myers’ upcoming arrival was announced on Tuesday’s edition of its eponymous weekly show. The 15-second vignette showed him standing in the ring with his face still hidden as various phrases were heard in the background. These phrases, which included lines such as “always be ready,” “on the right track,” “trust the process,” and “just missing something,” seemed to refer to the struggles of a wrestler who hasn’t gotten the opportunities or push they were hoping for. On Saturday, former Impact Wrestling star Joey Ryan reactivated his social media accounts and posted a nearly hour-long video where he discussed the sexual assault allegations he faced as part of the #SpeakingOut movement. In the video, which can be viewed in its entirety here, Ryan started by saying he shared it for the people who still support him amid the accusations he dealt with last month. He explained that he initially did not comment on the matter because his therapist asked him to go on a social media hiatus. He added that his lawyer gave him similar advice, telling the wrestler not to comment until he has reviewed all the claims. “I know that therapy is about progress and not perfection, but I do want to make one thing perfectly clear, I have never had sex with a woman without her consent,” Ryan stressed at the 1:10 mark of the clip. “I have never acted criminally towards a woman and I have never acted criminally with sex. And, unlike these allegations, I have actual evidence that can show you...
