A former Ms South Carolina was forced to carry an unviable fetus for seven weeks when her state outlawed abortions following the overturning of Roe V Wade. Jill Hartle, 35, said it felt like a ‘dagger to the heart’ every time strangers would approach her and say she ‘looked amazing’ and asking when the baby was due. At an 18-week scan in August doctors warned her unborn baby — Ivy Grace — had the incurable heart condition Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Most baby’s born with the condition die within days and are in terrible pain, meaning they need to be heavily sedated. At the time South Carolina had just introduced a six-week abortion ban which forbid abortions except in cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother. The 2013 Ms Carolina winner had to fly 500 miles to Washington D.C. while pregnant to get the termination at week 25.  She said she spent seven weeks in 'excruciating pain' physically and emotionally while she carried the fetus in the lead up to the abortion date. Ms Hartle said: 'Every time I felt her...

The confused mum had noticed an error on her Ovo gas meter and phoned the company over 20 times but with no help, she claimed. She told Wales Online: "I’m just losing my mind. I’ve had to come to my mam’s house, because it’s so cold in the house. "I really don’t know what to do now. "I’ve got to...

The Bombers traded lefty Jordan Montgomery for Bader, even though Bader had not played since June because of plantar fasciitis. The New York native was excited to put the injury and rehab in the past and get going against the Pirates at Yankee Stadium. “I’m excited to get on anything. I’m excited to put on any big league uniform and I’m excited to go out there and compete at the major (league) level,” Bader said. “So it’s definitely some special history for me here, I was in the stands here when I was younger. “But, again, at the end of the day, we got to be effective,” Bader said. “We got a baseball game to win so I’m just gonna focus on taking clean routes to the ball and go out there and just hit my first cut off man.” Bader, who grew up in Bronxville and went to the private school Horace Mann, was a career .246/.320/.409 hitter in...

The 1973 Roe v Wade ruling that guarantees the federal right to an abortion could be scrapped as early as today as the Supreme Court hands down multiple new opinions.  The Court does not announce in advance which decisions will be made public, and instead only says that decisions will be declared. This week, the opinions are being released on Tuesday and Thursday. There are 18 cases that need final rulings before the justices depart for their traditional summer break, which usually happens by the end of June or early July.  The Roe that the Supreme Court will rule on is listed as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.  On May 2, Politico published a leaked draft of the decision, in an unprecedented breach of the traditional secrecy surrounding their verdicts. The draft document, which Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed was authentic, would see the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling overturned. The Justices could have changed their minds in the intervening weeks, but most expect their verdict to be the same, and federal guarantees that abortion be available in every...
A woman who was imprisoned, tortured, and abused by the 'night-vision' serial killer for seven weeks as a child - after he brutally murdered her whole family - is now speaking out about the horrific ordeal. Shasta Groene, now 25, was eight years old when Joseph Duncan III, who was 42 at the time, broke into her home and killed her mother, Brenda Groene, 40, her stepfather, Mark McKenzie, 37, and her brother, Slade Groene, who was just 13. The Chicago White Sox are a step closer to having a healthy rotation with Lucas Giolito’s return to the mound Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals. Giolito had been out since Friday, when the Sox placed him on the COVID-19-related injured list. His reinstatement was one of three roster moves the team announced. The Sox optioned Davis Martin to Triple-A Charlotte after the right-hander allowed one run and struck out seven in five innings in his impressive major-league debut in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. They also transferred starter Lance Lynn to the 60-day IL. Lynn is eligible to be reinstated June 6. If everyone is healthy then, the Sox could have seven starters to choose from. “We’ll figure that out when that time comes,” pitching coach Ethan Katz said Tuesday. “If you look at a lot of teams, for example last year the (Los Angeles) Dodgers had 10 starting pitchers at the start of the season and they finished in the playoffs with like three. “Having starting depth is really important. You can never have enough and how...
A mother-of-three whose arms were ripped off in a brutal pit bull attack has been discharged from the hospital after seven weeks - but could still lose her leg. Kaylee Waltman, 38, sustained life-threatening injuries on March 21 when three dogs - two pit bulls and a German shepherd - attacked her as she was walking home from her boyfriend's house on Honea Path Road in Abbeville County, South Carolina. She passed out during the attack, and the dogs bit her so hard, they tore through the skin on her head until her skull was visible as they also tore off her eyelid and chewed into her colon. Fortunately, Waltman was saved by local farmer Avery Presley, who blasted a gun into the air and kicked one of the dogs to get them to flee. The dogs were euthanized following the attack, People reports, and their owner Justin Minor, 36, faces multiple charges. Now, after a grueling seven weeks in the hospital, she has returned to her mother's house, her sister, Amy Wynne, told supporters on a Go Fund Me page Tuesday....

SAN JOSE — On Feb. 27, Scott Reedy was suddenly called into action for a Sharks game against the Seattle Kraken. In just a couple of hours, he went from relaxing at home on a Barracuda off day to the ice surface at SAP Center for an NHL game. A little more than seven weeks later, Reedy, thanks to his work ethic and versatility, still hasn’t come out of the Sharks’ lineup. Reedy scored his first NHL goal that night against the Kraken and had his first two-goal game Tuesday in the Sharks’ 3-2 home win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, a victory that snapped San Jose’s 10-game losing streak. “I think I’ve progressed and gotten better through every five-game stretch, doing some little things well and just really finding my game,” Reedy said. Reedy, in his first professional season, will likely dress in his 25th consecutive game Thursday when the Sharks host the playoff-bound St. Louis Blues. His five goals, starting with that Feb. 27 game, are actually tied for fourth-most on the team in that time. “Fairly or...

GOP Leader Mitch McConnell said that there would need to be an amendment keeping Title 42 immigration restrictions in place in order for Democrats to pass more Covid aid with 10 Republican votes.  'There'll have to be an amendment on Title 42 in order to move the bill,' McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters on Tuesday. 'We'll need to enter into some kind of agreement to process these amendments in order to go forward with the bill.'  Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said that the Covid relief bill should 'not be held hostage' to other proposals.  Lawmakers reached a bipartisan deal to offer $10 billion in additional Covid-19 funding on Monday. The bill funded vaccines, therapeutics and other Covid safety measures domestically, but dropped funding for fighting the pandemic abroad.  The Biden administration announced last week that the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) emergency health order, Title 42, which is used to expel a majority of immigrants on the southern border, will expire by May 23. Department of Homeland Security officials say the expiration is likely to cause a fresh surge in...
