    A suspect is in custody in connection with a stabbing that left two people injured in Hacienda Heights, sheriff’s officials said. At about 4:10 p.m., deputies responded to a “family disturbance” near the 900th block of Hedgepath Avenue, said Sgt. Moses Aguilar of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. Two people were stabbed near the residential area and taken to a hospital, Aguilar said. Sheriff’s officials don’t know the extent of their injuries. Aguilar could not confirm details about the detained suspect, but said officials don’t believe there’s an outstanding danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing.

(KABC) -- An arson suspect allegedly tried to run over two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies before they shot and wounded him in Hacienda Heights Friday afternoon, according to authorities.The shooting occurred around 4:24 p.m. in the 14440 block of Crystal Lantern Drive, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.LASD said deputies responded to a family disturbance regarding a man attempting to set a home on fire with gasoline. The suspect allegedly tried to run over two deputies when they responded, which triggered a chase.Eventually, the man stopped and ran out of the vehicle.     A gunman opened fire on a man and a woman inhaling nitrous oxide in a car in the hills of Hacienda Heights early Thursday, killing the man and critically injuring the woman, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said. Parents had stepped up criticism of district officials and staged protests in recent weeks, decrying the conditions at the nationally-recognized school, which provides a dual-immersion curriculum in Mandarin and English along with coding classes. Wedgeworth’s students and teachers had been marking their achievements in portable buildings that parents describe as infested with pests and rife with sewage problems. On Tuesday, the district’s board of education voted 4-1 to approve a new, permanent building for the school. However, it will be rebuilt as a K-5 school, rather than K-8. School Board member Stephanie Serrano, who previously said taking a $50 million loan out to build a new school would not be fiscally responsible or equitable to all the families in the district, cast the lone vote against the plan.

He also allegedly injured his 37-year-old brother, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.Garibay was arrested on Thursday in Otay and brought to the sheriff's station in the City of Industry for booking.     HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) — Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Monday were investigating a double homicide in Hacienda Heights. According to the department, deputies responded to a home on Marwood Street, near Janette Street, shortly after receiving a 12:30 p.m. call. They found a man and a woman dead inside the home and said a third person sustained unknown injuries. Authorities said the suspect was still at large.

Manuel Calderon was last seen at 7:50 p.m. Sept. 8 near the 15000 block of La Subida Drive, a block from Turnbull Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Calderon is described as Hispanic, 5’7″ and 185 pounds, with brown eyes and short black-gray hair, the sheriff’s department said.     HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA) — A vegetation fire, dubbed the Grove Fire, has burned roughly seven acres as of Friday afternoon in Hacienda Heights area of the San Gabriel Valley. The blaze was reported just after 3 p.m. near 14710 E. Orange Grove Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. At last check, it was being categorized as a second alarm fire and was 15% contained as of 4:30 p.m. Fire crews also said forward progress has been stopped on the fire and no injuries have been reported. The region continues to face an ongoing threat of wildfires in the area as temperatures rise to dangerous levels. Officials will continue working for the next several hours at the scene of the fire to monitor conditions. No cause has been determined yet for the Grove Fire. Miles away, crews were also battling the Lake Fire in the Lake Hughes area of the Angeles National Forest, which broke out Wednesday, and the Ranch 2 Fire in northern Azusa.     CITY OF INDUSTRY (CBSLA) – A 23-year-old man armed with an AR-15 assault rifle went on a criminal rampage early Friday morning — trying to steal drugs from a CVS store in La Puenta and robbing a Hacienda Heights gas station — before being wounded by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in the City of Industry following a wild pursuit and multiple shootouts, authorities said. (KABC) -- The head pastor of a Hacienda Heights church has been charged with sexually assaulting at least three young girls, authorities announced Wednesday.Jonathan Tsai of the church now called Abundant Life Ministries was arrested on July 21 at his home after a woman told detectives he repeatedly abused her in her home when she was between 12 and 18 years old, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.The alleged sexual abuse continued for approximately six years, authorities said. During the investigation, detectives identified two other women who reported similar sexual assaults by Tsai when they were minors.Bail was set at $1.4 million and he was released on bond three days after his arrest.Tsai is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26. on charges including lewd acts on a child under 14, one count of oral copulation of a person under 16 and one count of sexual penetration of a person under 16, authorities said.Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Special Victims Bureau at 877-710-5273....

Jonathan Tsai was arrested on July 21 at his home and booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut Station on $1.4 million bail, according to authorities. The pastor was charged with four counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, one count of oral copulation of a person under 16 and one count of sexual penetration of a person under 16, the sheriff’s department said. Tsai was released on bond on July 24 and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26. The department said that a woman told officials on Jan. 9 that Tsai, who was her youth pastor, sexually assaulted her for six years — from ages 12 to 18.
