by Patrick Carroll   When Parker Noland launched his trash-hauling business at age 20 in the summer of 2021, he was excited about the opportunities that lay before him. After taking out a loan from a local bank, the Montana native bought a truck and some dumpsters and got to work promoting his services. The business plan was simple: he would deliver dumpsters to construction sites looking to get rid of debris and then transport the dumpsters to the county dump once they were full. Things quickly got complicated for Noland, however. Though he had registered his business, gotten the proper insurance, and complied with all public health and safety standards, he was still missing one thing, a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. As a result, right when he was about to get his business off the ground he was given a cease and desist order by the Montana Public Service Commission, the agency responsible for administering the Certificate law. Noland applied for the Certificate shortly thereafter on September 8, 2021, but his troubles were just getting started. Two national...

Married to childhood sweetheart, Simon, she lives in County Durham and is mum to Charlie, eight, and Oliver, five. YOU SHOULD NOT MULTI-TASK AS A MUM  I'm one of those ridiculous people who tries to fit too much stuff into my life. It works, but only if I'm fully in the moment. I've learned it's better to do one thing and do it well, than try to do several things subpar. It started when I had my sons. I chose to go back to work when they were young, but I always tried to have one day a week off to spend with them — and in that day we would shoehorn in a whole week's worth of activities. Mum‑guilt doesn't serve anyone, so when I'm at work I give it 100 per cent, too. The Dragons' Den schedule is intensive, but because I need to...

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has often been accused of looking like a sinister robot and when he visited a laboratory in Pittsburgh last month, the 100 high-resolution cameras that captured his image from every angle were certainly trying to make him look more human. They weren’t, however, attempting to soften up the image of his controversial social media empire but to create a new face for him in his other world: the Metaverse, Zuckerberg’s ambitious and increasingly risky-looking master plan to create a futuristic three-dimensional virtual reality world. In the Metaverse you’re no longer simply staring into a computer but actually feel you are inside it, living in a richly animated and lifelike 3D simulation, an all-encompassing virtual universe that exists alongside the real one. At least that’s the theory. People appear in the Metaverse as a so-called ‘avatar’, an animated online representation of themselves that they can design and which can be made to look like them. Footage of the aftermath of former Olympian Kim Glass' attack in Los Angeles on Saturday shows her aggressor being held down on one of the city's streets, where blood was also spattered not too far away.  The video recorded by Benson Parks, shows the moment right after Glass, who is a 6ft 3in ex-voyellball player and 2008 silver medalist for Team U.S.A., was attacked by a homeless man wielding a metal pole.  He was later identified as 51-year-old Semeon Tesfamariam and was restrained by bystanders until police arrested him. Over the weekend, Tesfanmarian was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to LAPD spokesperson Office Drake Madison.  Several blood stains, spilled leftovers and what appears to be a bag created the crime scene, while the video also shows witnesses holding a cloth to Glass's head and close to her eye to stop the bleeding while she was recorded yelling in agony. "So many people have the idea that vegans are somehow different from them," says Moran. "When really, we are all kinds of people from all walks of life."Moran went vegetarian at age 19 but it wasn't until she was in her thirties that she went vegan. "What's happening now is that is understood, people know the word, they can pronounce it," she says. "There are so many (vegan) food options available."After releasing her book, Main Street Vegan in 2012, Moran used that concept to launch Main Street Vegan Academy, a program providing training that graduates can use in different ways. "We start with the history of the vegetarian movement," says Moran. "Then we talk about vegan principles, health, nutrition, animal issues, environmental issues, and then about how to communicate what the students learn to others," Moran adds.As her classes grew, Moran needed to make sure that she and her business assets...

Veteran and entrepreneur Colin Wayne, founder of Redline Steel, said on Tue sday’s edition of the Breitbart News Daily podcast with host Alex Marlow that the Biben administration and Democrats are using Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “cover story” to excuse inflation wrought by their own politics. Marlow said the Biden adminsitration is “just saying everything’s Putin’s  fault,” drawing on the White House’s attempts to rebrand inflation driven by leftist policies as “Putin’s Price Hike.” “I don’t think anything has to do [with Putin],” Wayne replied. “I think he’s the cover story, but I think that we’re doing this to ourselves.” Wayne described the impact of ongoing inflation on his business, which manufactures home decor and art from domestically-sourced steel. “The steel industry is hit extremely hard, especially 10-gauge steel,” he stated. “So we use 16-gauge through 20-gauge mild cold-rolled temper-passed steel, and it’s domestic. So it’s made at Nucor, one of the largest steel mills in America, and there’s a lot of companies that outsource — just because of the amount of cost savings that could take place...

If you’ve been at a protest, a public meeting or a community event somewhere in the Twin Cities in the last year, you’ve probably seen them, in their bright yellow hooded sweatshirts: the Community Healing Team, a group of some 30 community leaders focused on the mental health of Minnesota’s African American community.  The brainchild of Marika Reese, a self-proclaimed, “serial social entrepreneur” and founder of the rehabilitative mental health care provider Ubuntu Care Services, along with her friend and colleague Leslie E. Redmond, the founder of Don’t Complain Activate, the Community Healing Team began around the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death.  Redmond, Reese recalled, “called me at midnight one night and said, ‘The community needs healing. This is in your lane. What can we do?’” Reese said she thought for a moment before responding, “‘We could make something called The Community Healing Team.’”  Reese’s idea was that, rather than being licensed mental health professionals, most members of the team would be respected members of the African American community, including barbers, political activists, politicians and faith leaders.  Article continues after advertisement This...

Billionaire financier Bill Gross's wife Amy, a former professional tennis star, claims she feels too scared to go into her own backyard due to an ongoing petty fight with her millionaire neighbor Mark Towfiq. Amy Gross testified in court on Monday that she is unable to enjoy her $32million Laguna Beach mansion, in California, because she's 'being monitored 24/7' by her neighbor.  'I fear going into my backyard,' Amy said. The 52-year-old married Bill Gross in April at their home in Indian Wells, but said the ongoing feud meant she couldn't celebrate the milestone in her own home. 'I couldn't have my wedding reception there. I couldn't have my birthday there,' she testified, according to Bloomberg. The squabble between the neighbors began when Towfiq complained to the city about the Gross' 'unsightly' netting covering their Gross's Dale Chihuly sculpture. In response, the billionaires allegedly blasted loud music, including the Gilligan's Island theme tune, on repeat.
