Three police officers fled their station’s lobby when a man they had just shot with a stun gun burst into flames, a graphic video released by the New York attorney general shows. Jason Jones, 29, died last month in a hospital, six weeks after he was severely burned in the Oct. 30 confrontation. The video from the lobby of the Catskill Police Department headquarters documents the officers’ interactions with Jones, who had walked into the lobby apparently intoxicated. It does not have sound, but it shows Jones staggering around the lobby, agitated and arguing with the officers. Twenty-five minutes after he arrives, he picks up a large bottle of hand sanitizer and douses his head and bare torso with it. An officer then shoots him with a stun gun. Jones is out of the video frame at that point but almost immediately the flames can be seen. One of the officers flees around the corner, toward the outside door, and the two others disappear through a door into the back office. For long seconds, Jones writhes on the floor, his...
