A Russian analyst who was charged with lying to the FBI about the infamous Steele dossier had been a paid informant for the bureau, a court filing claimed on Tuesday. Igor Danchenko was allegedly recruited as an FBI mole in March 2017 - about three months after the bureau began investigating him and the gossip-filled dossier he helped create. It's also more than four years before he was indicted for lying to federal investigators about information he gave to former British spy Christopher Steele. Steele used information from Danchenko, among other sources, to compile a dossier with sordid details that accuse Donald Trump of being in Vladimir Putin's pocket. The dossier was used to launch the FBI's investigation of the Trump 2016 campaign's alleged links to Russia, known as Crossfire Hurricane. Much of the dossier has since been debunked.  In late 2021, Danchenko pleaded not guilty to five counts of making false statements to the FBI relating to sources for the material that wound up in the dossier. His charges were announced by Special Counsel John Durham, who former Attorney General Bill...

Beaumarchais, a Santa Ana police officer since 2011, was named the department’s detective of the year in 2019 and helped form its major enforcement team to suppress major crimes a year later. “Police officers are entrusted with the sacred responsibility to safeguard society from harm,” said Orange County Dist. Atty. Todd Spitzer. “It is beyond disturbing that a sworn police officer would engage in inappropriate conversations with someone he believed to be a child. Manhattan's woke district attorney has been blasted for trying to defend the release of a suspected teenage mugger who was filmed beating an NYPD cop two days later. Alvin Bragg's office was blasted over its decision to free the 16 year-old, who hasn't been named, over a mugging on Madison Avenue last Wednesday - only for the same suspect to allegedly punch a cop 20 times in a Harlem subway station three days later.  Former prosecutor turned defense lawyer Mark Bederow, argued that the DA bungled the case which he told Fox News, definitely falls under 'extraordinary circumstances.' 'The DA clearly knew that they were prosecuting the same offender for a violent robbery,' he told the news outlet. 'If that is not an extraordinary circumstance, what is? If violence against police officers is unacceptable, why ignore the violent robbery arrest. This isn't accountability. This is lunacy.' Bederow spoke in response to Bragg spokesperson Emily Tuttle's insistence that they'd made the right move with freeing the young offender - and letting him walk free again after the cop attack. The youngster...

OAKLAND — An East Bay man has been arrested and charged with murdering a man during a heated argument over a last-minute eviction caused by a suspected love triangle, court records show. Charles Dupree, 31, was charged with murdering 22-year-old Anthony Samuels during the early morning hours of March 15. Dupree allegedly shot and killed Samuels outside of an apartment complex on the 3300 block of East 17th Street. He was arrested in late May, and his next court date is set for late August, records show. The motive, according to police, stemmed from a dispute involving Dupree, the mother of his child, and his Godsister. Out of everyone present for the shooting Samuels was the least involved, authorities say. On the night of March 14, the mother of Dupree’s child kicked Dupree’s Godsister out of their home based on a suspicion that she and Dupree were involved romantically, and the Godsister called Samuels for helping moving her stuff. When Samuels arrived, a heated argument ensued involving Samuels and Dupree. Dupree allegedly shot Samuels in the head, then later said...

Former President Donald TrumpJonathan Ernst | Reuters A former special New York prosecutor who quit a criminal investigation of ex-President Donald Trump after his boss declined to lodge charges at the time said that if Trump "had been Joe Blow from Kokomo, we would have indicted without a big debate." "I believe that Donald Trump, in fact, was guilty and, second, that there was sufficient evidence as a matter of law to have sustained a guilty verdict if we went forward," said Mark Pomerantz, the former special prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, in a new interview. "My view is that it is toxic to have people believe that the criminal justice system is unable to hold people accountable if those people have huge financial and political influence," Pomerantz said. "The rule of law is supposed to extend to the rich and poor alike, to the vulnerable, to the powerful," he added. Pomerantz made the comments on the podcast, “Why Wasn’t Donald Trump Criminally Prosecuted in New York? What Happened and Why?" hosted by Columbia University Law School Professor...
