OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The mother of a 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed by Oklahoma City police last month filed paperwork Monday indicating she intends to sue the city over the killing. Attorney Rand Eddy said a tort claim notice filed on behalf of Cameo Holland is the first step before a lawsuit is filed. The tort claim seeks $175,000 in compensation for Holland. Holland’s son, Stavian Rodriguez, was shot and killed by police on Nov. 23 after an attempted armed robbery of a gas station on the city’s south side. During the robbery attempt, the store clerk fled the store and locked Rodriguez inside, according to police Sgt. Gary Knight. After police surrounded the store, Rodriguez climbed out a drive-through window holding a pistol, Knight said. Knight said five officers fired their guns at Rodriguez and one fired pepper balls at him. All six were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, which is standard in officer-involved shootings. Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater will review the investigation to determine if the shooting...

An ex-con running from Paterson police detectives tossed a handgun that turned out to be stolen out of Englewood, authorities said. A gun conviction would automatically send Daryl Rodriguez, 23, back to state prison, where he served 20 months for a drive-by city shooting before being released in July 2019, records show. Detectives Mustafa Dombayci, Suquan Gary, Yamil Pimienta and Mohammad Bashir were "providing extra attention to the area of Oak and Beech Streets in the 5th Ward due to recent reports of shots fired in the area" when they spotted Rodriguez over the weekend, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. He was "attempting to conceal a large handgun magazine, which was protruding from his sweatshirt pocket," Speziale said. Rodriguez bolted when he saw the detectives coming, tossing the 9mm Glock in front of a Beech Street home as he ran, the director said. They caught him in a Summer Street backyard a short time later, he said. The detectives also recovered the gun, which Speziale said was loaded with more than two dozen rounds of ammunition. It had...

UFC: Yair Rodriguez suspended by USADA By: Daniel Cunningham December 3, 2020 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe world is going to have to wait a little longer for Yair Rodriguez‘s UFC return. Earlier this afternoon, ESPN reported that the top five featherweight has been suspended for six months by USADA and will not be eligible to compete until March. However, the suspension is an interesting one. Rodriguez was not suspended for failing a drug test. Instead, the top UFC featherweight was suspended for not updating his location inside the USADA tracker for random testing. Rodriguez did this three times in the span of 12 months which triggered the suspension. Over the weekend, Dana White gave some interesting answers regarding Yair Rodriguez. He stated in the post-fight press conference that Rodriguez wouldn’t be fighting anytime soon. However, he didn’t announce why Rodriguez wouldn’t be fighting. A few days later and we have our answer. This is truly a headscratcher and in my opinion a very stupid reason to be suspended. However, it’s on Rodriguez for not...
JAMES RODRIGUEZ'S poor relationship with Carlos Queiroz was reportedly at the centre of the decision to sack the Colombia coach. Local media reports, cited by Marca, outline one incident which allegedly infuriated Everton star Rodriguez. A friendly with Ecuador in November 2019 saw Brighton midfielder Steven Alzate don the No10 shirt. The number had been reserved for star man Rodriguez, who was unavailable for the fixture. Giving away the shirt was reportedly seen as a huge sign of disrespect by Queiroz. Another decision to snub the playmaker for the captain's armband, preferring David Ospina, also dampened the mood. 2 Subsequent issues continued the coach and team on their descent with players said to be confused by the 67-year-old's tactical plans....

After a recount, Garcia's lead added +1 to make it a 32-vote victory. Long before Donald Trump rode on top of the conspiracy theory-laden, QAnon fabricated deep state, Hatter tea party wave into office, the conservative movement stoking the unsubstantiated conspiracy theories of voter fraud perpetrated on a massive scale. Trump’s spent the past year very transparently focused on trying to figure out a way to harness the myth of Democratic voter fraud while promoting the usual anti-Democracy voter suppression techniques and laws that the GOP has been using for decades. But, as CNN reports, so far there is only one election that shows any of the markings of bad faith machinations. Florida’s District 37 race between Democratic incumbent Jose Javier Rodriguez and Republican Ileana Garcia was decided by 32 votes, with Garcia being announced as the winner. I lied. There was a third candidate: unaffiliated mystery man Alex Rodriguez, who pulled in 6,377 votes. But, as numerous news outlets have reported, Rodriguez—Alex, not Jose Javier—seems to have done virtually nothing to run, but seems to have gotten all kinds of financial support from a...
(CNN)A month before Election Day in Florida a mysterious company called Proclivity, Inc. contributed $550,000 to a pair of newly formed political action committees in the state. Two days later, the money flowed from the PACs to an Orlando-area print and advertising firm.Shortly thereafter, came a torrent of nearly identical political fliers seemingly intended to siphon away support from Democratic candidates by tricking voters into casting their ballots for purported spoiler candidates who demonstrated no real interest in getting elected. None, for example, engaged in typical campaigning activities or raised significant funds. In one case, the mailers appear to have helped a Republican—a co-founder of Latinas For Trump—unseat the Democratic incumbent in a state Senate race by a razor-thin margin of just 32 votes. The situation, which has been generating headlines in Florida for weeks, has all the makings of a "dark money" mystery in the Sunshine State.Read MoreAmong the key questions: What exactly is Proclivity and what was the purpose and desired effect behind its generous contributions to the two fledging PACs? And, why did those PACs support unknown candidates with...

A 66-year-old Somerset County man was under the influence when he caused a fatal crash on a highway intersection last week, prosecutors charged. George L. Rodriguez was driving a 2005 GMC Envoy northbound on Route 202/206 in the inner/left lane and struck Michael C. Sivulich, 65, near the intersection of River Road just after 6:45 p.m. last Friday, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release. Rodriguez and Sivulich — both of Bedminster — were taken to area hospitals, where Sivulich was pronounced dead. A follow-up investigation by the Bedminster Township Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) found that Rodriguez crashed into Sivulich’s 2009 Nissan Centra after he improperly crossed the center concrete median, Robertson said. Rodriguez was also found to be under the influence during the crash, Robertson said. Rodriguez was charged with death by auto, causing death while operating a motor vehicle while suspended, DWI and numerous traffic offenses. WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump delighted supporters gathered near the White House on Saturday with a slow motorcade drive-by through downtown Washington on the way to his Virginia golf club. A week after the presidential race was called for Democrat Joe Biden, hundreds of Trump loyalists converged on the nation’s capital to protest the election results and falsely assert the vote was stolen. Trump persists with his claims and complaints even though a broad coalition of top government and industry officials has declared that the Nov. 3 voting and the following count unfolded smoothly with no more than the usual minor hiccups — “the most secure in American history,” they said, repudiating his efforts to undermine the integrity of the contest. The crowd cheered as Trump's limousine neared and people lined both sides of the street. Some stood just a few feet away from Trump’s vehicle; others showed their enthusiasm by running along with the caravan. They chanted “USA, USA” and “four more years,” and many carried American flags and signs to show their displeasure with the...
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – A single-seat expansion of the Republican majority in the Florida Senate hinges on several hundred uncounted vote-by-mail ballots in Miami-Dade County. A recount is expected for the Senate District 37 seat, held since 2016 by Democrat Jose Javier Rodriguez. He trailed Republican challenger Ileana Garcia by a margin of 104,533 votes to 104,512 as of Wednesday afternoon. “There’s a process there, but I think we would rather be in our position than in the other position,” Gov. Social media star Ainsley Rodriguez stunned her 1.9 million Instagram followers by posting a video where she mimicked an iconic dance scene from the 1983 film Risky Business. For the occasion, Rodriguez wore a classic white oxford button down shirt. The bright hue not only accentuated her tanned skin but also offered a gorgeous contrast against her dark hair. The garment was slightly oversized, though the hem short enough to show off her long and lean legs. The shirt was slightly tailored around the waist to flaunt Rodriguez’s toned midriff and featured a pocket at the bust. The shirt was unbuttoned so that the fitness model gave fans a glimpse of her décolletage. She did not wear pants with the garment, instead wearing a pair gray shorts that were so tiny that it often looked as if she wore nothing underneath at all. Rodriguez completed the look with a pair of white ankle-high socks and black wayfarer sunglasses — almost an exact replica of the original costume. However, unlike Tom Cruise, Rodriguez sported some jewelry, including a pendant necklace and...
OAKLAND — A Richmond man arrested last December with 11 ounces of fentanyl and nearly $10,000 in cash was sentenced to two years in federal prison Monday, after a U.S. District Judge brushed off defense arguments that the defendant had been coerced into drug sales by people who held him hostage and beat him at the Arizona/Mexico border. Jairo Noel Rodriguez-Martinez has been in Santa Rita Jail since last December, when DEA agents raided his Richmond home and found a little more than 11 ounces of fentanyl, more than two ounces of methamphetamine, and about a half-ounce of cocaine, court records show. During his jail stay, he contracted COVID-19 and was quarantined. Before his sentencing, Rodriguez-Martinez admitted to possessing all three drugs for distribution and pleaded guilty to a federal offense. Federal prosecutors asked for Rodriguez-Martinez to be sentenced to four years and eight months, arguing that the amount of fentanyl seized showed he was at least a middle-level narcotics dealer. But Rodriguez-Martinez’s attorney, Naomi Chung, argued that her client had suffered enough. Rodriguez-Martinez came to the United States from Honduras...
