Former NBA star Lamar Odom said the Phoenix Suns' gorilla mascot is racist following the team's owner's one-year suspension for using racial and sexual slurs. Odom, 43, appeared on the podcast hosted by a Suns' fan Bootleg Kev on November 23 to discuss the contentious Arizona mascot that has been appearing on the court since 1980. The basketball team has been under scrutiny after it was found that owner Robert Sarver had used the N-word on at least five occasions among other transgressions from his nearly two-decade tenure. Sarver has since been suspended for one year and fined $10 million. Odom, who described himself as a 'woke, young Black Man in America,' admitted that he wasn't pleased with the Suns' gorilla mascot and said that team officials had plenty of options to choose from. 'The thing that’s funny is they kind of slid that one by for all these years,' Odom told Bootleg Kev. 'Nobody says anything about that. Gorillas, in the desert, you can’t find any. You could probably find a cactus. 'In basketball, bro, just like, come on,...
Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan laid blame for his party's midterm election performance directly at former President Donald Trump's feet on Sunday and called for a new figure to lead the GOP. 'I think it's basically the third election in a row that Donald Trump has cost us the race,' Hogan told CNN's State of the Union. 'Three strikes you're out.' But the term-limited moderate leader also conceded that Trump's influence would take time to fade, noting he's 'still the 800-pound gorilla', especially if the ex-president's promised 'special announcement' on November 15 is the introduction to a third White House campaign. If that's the case, Hogan said, 'there's no question' Republicans will lose the only outstanding Senate race in Georgia.  The GOP is beginning its post mortem as results continue trickling in that show its promised 'red wave' never came to be. Democrats solidified control over the Senate for two more years when Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto narrowly won her race in Nevada on Saturday night. The House of Representatives, which polls projected gaining dozens of new Republican seats, is...
Megyn Kelly slammed Meghan Markle for constantly referring to Prince Harry as 'her husband,' claiming the Duchess is only doing it for attention.  Kelly, 51, didn't hold back during the latest episode of her podcast, where she criticized the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for 'ripping on the Royals to whom they owe, literally, all of their fame and most of their fortune.'  Kelly - who claimed Americans 'don't like royalty' - took great annoyance to Markle's constant reference to Harry as 'her husband.'  'We get it, you bagged the gorilla,' she said on Tuesday's episode. 'Congratulations, you got the big bear, [and] you want us all to know.'  The criticism came after Meghan had uploaded another episode of her Archetypes podcast, where she raved about Harry's parenting skills.  'Oh, my husband? Oh, he's great!' Markle, 41, said on Tuesday's episode when she was asked if Harry contributed much to the parenting side.   Megyn Kelly, 51, took great annoyance to Markle's constant reference to Harry as 'her husband' in the Duchess' latest Archetypes podcast. 'We get it, you bagged the...

Animals hate war as much as humans. But in a zoo within earshot of the front line they cannot hide, let alone escape it altogether like Ukraine’s two million homo sapien refugees. The result is stress, depression and maternal dysfunction, as I witnessed here in Kyiv yesterday morning. Juto the giraffe loves red apples, cut into quarters. But as I try to feed him one he shies away.  The shock waves from a sustained artillery bombardment a few miles beyond the city’s northern suburbs are making the windows rattle in the enclosure he shares with another giraffe, Jumbo. The pride of Asian lions is basking in the sunshine on a terrace. But with every fresh rumble from the north Hercules, Christina, Dana and Lilia stir and prick their ears. They are not at ease. No one is, here, today. Last year some 700,000 visitors flocked to Kyiv’s zoo, which is home to around 4,000 animals from 200 species. It seems even gorillas are intimidated by Shaquille O'Neal. The former basketball star was speaking with his guests on the podcast The Big Podcast with Shaq when he contemplated growing his hair out, joking that he would be a "silverback" gorilla and not a "silver fox." He then told what he claimed was a "true story" about how he has been to "every zoo in the world" and that during all of his visits, the gorillas get intimidated by him. "For real, for real," O'Neal said. "That's how they look at me. They also look at me like, 'What am I doing in here and you out there?' And they always go crazy when they see me." O'Neal stands at 7 feet, 1 inch tall, and he weighs over 300 pounds. The world’s oldest male gorilla, 61-year-old Ozzie, was found dead by his care team in his habitat at Zoo Atlanta on Tuesday. Ozzie’s cause of death is not yet known and zoo officials are still awaiting the results of a necropsy, though the western lowland gorilla, who is also the third-oldest gorilla in the world, was diagnosed with COVID-19 this past September. His symptoms at the time were mild and he had since recovered from them, but it is unclear if the virus played a role in his death. Veterinary staff reported that Ozzie started experiencing a decrease in appetite last Thursday and it was increasingly difficult to get him to eat, according to a press release from Zoo Atlanta. The night that Andre Bauma found Ndakasi 14 years ago, he saved her from certain death — cradling her to his chest and sheltering her from a torrential rainstorm. On the last night of her life, he hugged her to his chest again for hours. After a long illness, two weeks ago the teenage mountain gorilla lay dying and nothing the vets could do in Virunga, Africa’s oldest national park, would save her. Her last photograph is bitterly sad. Exhausted, her eyes glazed and mouth open struggling for breath, she presses one ear to Andre’s chest, perhaps to hear the comforting sound of his heart. Chimpanzees living at Africa's Loango National Park in Gabon are attacking and killing gorillas that also call the region home in what researchers are saying is a first in the scientific community. A team of scientists from Osnabrück University and the Max Planck Institute suggest two lethal attacks  are a result of the animals competing for food that is diminishing because of climate change, researchers note in a press release. Prior to the deadly incidents, researchers observed nine occasions during 2014 through 2018 where chimpanzees and gorillas interacted peacefully and even co-fed in fruiting trees. The harmony came to a screeching halt in 2019, when, on two occasions, chimps formed coalitions and attacked a group of gorillas for a combined 124 minutes that ended with two dead infant gorillas.
