“WATCH: Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Elon Musks changes to Twitter: "One human being should not be able to go into a dark room by himself and decide Oh, that person gets heard from, that person doesn’t. Thats not how it should work."” — Breaking911 (@Breaking911) 1669838472 But one of the reasons that Musk purchased Twitter was to reform it from the inside out. Twitter is widely seen as the digital town square, but the powers that used to be moderated the content posted to Twitter in a way that often cohered with the progressive agenda. Far-right personalities were often banned, and conservatives at large complained of being shadow-banned. And who can forget how Twitter censored the now-vindicated Hunter Biden laptop story? Thus, what Warren alleges Twitter will be under Musks control is what Twitter already was under previous management. Musk, in fact, has promised to do the opposite of what Warren now expresses concern over. Ironically, Warren and other Democrats outraged about Musks Twitter takeover were not angry when, under previous management, Twitter decided who should and should...
WE all have our own tips and tricks when it comes to winding down in the evening. Whether it's a bubble bath or a box set, most people have their preferred ways to relax. 1One woman said she enjoys three glasses of wine each evening as she tries to wind downCredit: Getty - Contributor But one mum took to Facebook to ask if she 'has a problem', for enjoying three glasses of wine each evening. Posting to a parenting group, she asked fellow parents to be kind with their answers and said: "I am just trying to work out if me having a few drinks of an evening would be considered a drinking problem." Many people asked her to get help, while others said 'she can relax how she wants', the Daily Mail reported. However, experts have said that this might not always be a healthy option and all say that this mum could be doing more harm than good. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has been on fire this season, and he’s proving that Russell Wilson was the issue on the team. The Seahawks have a great quarterback, Geno Smith, on their hands this season. He currently leads the league in completion percentage (72.8). His talent, however, is doing more than proving himself. It’s proving that replacing Russell Wilson was a great option. Wilson is having a tough season with the Denver Broncos. He currently has one of the worst (but not the worst) completion percentages (58.9) in the league. The Carolina Panthers even went as far as to mock him because he’s been having such a rough season. While Wilson was a great quarterback for many years in Seattle, he just didn’t get the job done last season as the Seahawks finished last in the NFC West with a 7-10 record. Last season was one of the worsts of his career with 25 touchdowns and 3,113 yards recorded. Though it wasn’t necessarily a horrible season, Seattle is certainly doing better without him right now. They’re not looking like...
United States Representative and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-California) blasted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) over McCarthy's subservience to former President Donald Trump as well as his willingness to kowtow to conspiracy theorist Congresspersons Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia), Paul Gosar (R-Arizona), and Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) in order to get elected as the next Speaker of the House. On Sunday's edition of CNN's State of the Union, Schiff began by chastising McCarthy's dismissal of the evidence obtained by probes conducted by Congress that showed how operatives within Trump's 2016 presidential campaign solicited help from Russia to defeat Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Anchor Dana Bash: As you well know, the man who is trying to be speaker, Republican Kevin McCarthy, says that he wants to kick you off the Intelligence Committee, the committee that you now chair, because of your handling of the Trump-Russia investigation, and specifically that you repeatedly asserted that there was direct evidence of collusion, direct collusion, which didn't materialize. Mark Kelly, reelected this month as Democratic senator for Arizona, offered a damning indictment of his party's grasp of border issues in a new interview, saying his colleagues simply did not understand the problem. Kelly won a bitter midterm battle with Trump-backed Republican Blake Masters, who ran a closer race than many expecting by focusing on voter anger about illegal immigration. In an interview published Monday, he expressed exasperation when asked if fellow Democrats had a handle on the border question. 'Absolutely not. Not even close,' he told the Washington Post. 'When I first got to Washington, it didn’t take me long to realize that there are a lot of Democrats who don't understand our southern border and a lot of Republicans who just want to talk about it. Don’t necessarily want to do anything about it, just want to use it politically.' Sen. Mark Kelly expressed exasperation when asked if fellow Democrats had a handle on the border question. A University of Chicago teacher has been forced to postpone a class called 'The Problem of Whiteness' after she received death threats. Rebecca Journey was set to teach the woke class, where students would 'analyze whiteness as a social construct.' She dismissed claims that the session would stoke 'anti-white hatred' calling the criticism 'disingenuous'. But outraged students called the class the most 'egregious example' of anti-white hated on the college campus. Journey was forced to push the class back to next spring in order to give officials at the teaching institution time to come up with a safety plan for both her and the students. 'The class is emphatically not about 'the problem with white people,' Journey told the Chicago Sun Times. 'The class approaches whiteness as a problem in the philosophical sense of an open question … [with] whiteness as an object of critical inquiry.' Despite her explanation, she has been accused of 'anti-white' racism and subjected to racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic attacks in her inbox and on a Twitter thread about the class. The 59-year-old filmmaker was a guest on the HBO Max series Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, when Chris Wallace asked about the controversial aspects of his films. Wallace asked, 'You talk about being the conductor and the audience being the orchestra. So when people say, "Well there’s too much violence in his movies. He uses the N-word too often." The problem, Chad said, is that as of this recording, the details of this find haven't come out, and that's kind of a problem since news hoaxes are becoming more and more common all the time. Smollett and Wallace are probably the most famous ones, but a bunch of them are going. Chad assessed that "maybe they found a noose on the site, or perhaps they didn't." He leaned toward probably they didn't, for a couple of reasons. "First of all," Chad said, "there are a lot of hoaxes or even just honest and dumb misunderstandings. Second of all, have you ever met any real racists?" Video below. Download the podcast here. Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields seemed to blame his defense for letting the Detroit Lions squeak by with the win, but he’s not wrong. The 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions was a tough one for Chicago to bear for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which was that quarterback Justin Fields fought valiantly for a win. As Brett Kollman put it, the last sack on Fields was “the perfect distillation of the entire Bears season: one guy standing in a field fighting off a pack of lions (literally) all by himself.” Bears Twitter endorses this sentiment, and there are many memes illustrating how Fields single-handedly put the Bears in position to win time and time again. It’s a frustrating pattern, especially since Fields has had three straight ground-breaking performances, only to lose all three games. It seems that Chicago fans aren’t the only ones annoyed by this obvious trend. In the post-game press conference, Fields was asked the following by a reporter: “How can you reconcile right now the production you’re having in yards and points and not...
Now turn your attention to the Republican sheet of paper. I’d ask you to jot down a list of the Republicans who dissent from conservatives in a meaningful way on any one of the aforementioned issues, but you would need an entire box of papers to list the thousands of names of state and federal GOP officials who are downright on the other side of numerous (if not a majority) of those issues. So, it would probably be more efficient to merely list the names of the Republicans who actually fight for us in a meaningful way on the issues that matter, in the way they matter, at the time they matter. On that account, you can probably tear off a corner of the paper for your list and still have plenty of unfilled space! Even the few Republicans who are good on one issue will usually screw us on another fundamental issue. This one might finally be good on medical freedom but crush us on gay marriage, or this one who is strong on social values will constantly shill...
Former Vice President Mike Pence in an exclusive interview with ABC news anchor David Muir on Sunday's edition of World News Tonight condemned the incendiary rhetoric through which he was personally targeted by then-President Donald Trump during the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol. Pence refused to go along with Trump's scheme to reject President Joe Biden's Electoral College victory in the 2020 election because he determined that he had no constitutional authority to do so. Trump, who was desperate to hold onto power, reacted with a Twitter post that essentially labeled Pence as a coward. Speaking with Pence inside his Indiana residence, Muir recalled that "members were barricaded inside the House chamber, and in the middle of it all, you can see that the president has tweeted. 2:24 p.m., the president tweets: 'Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done.'" Mike Pence has admitted he was angry at Donald Trump when the then-president accused him of cowardice and set the mob on him on January 6, describing Trump's actions as 'reckless'. Pence, who served as Trump's vice president, told ABC News in his first television interview since the riot that Trump 'decided to be part of the problem'. On January 6 Pence, who refused Trump's demands to overturn the 2020 election, was inside the Capitol when it was breached. The mob erected a gallows with a noose outside the building, and Pence was at one point only 40 feet from the invaders: the January 6 Committee, investigating the insurrection, heard that Pence's life was in very real danger. Pence, 63, was asked by ABC's David Muir how he felt when Trump tweeted amid the riot: 'Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. The Denver Broncos punted the football a lot in Week 10, due to the inefficiency of the offense led by quarterback Russell Wilson. The Denver Broncos entered their Week 9 bye on a high note after they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. That would certainly be a game that the Broncos could build off of entering their second half of the season. Instead, the opposite happened. As in, it was the same old issues for the Broncos — inefficiency on offense. Facing off against the Tennessee on Sunday, the Broncos offense, led by quarterback Russell Wilson, was unable to do much. That caused the team to punt the ball — a lot. How much you ask? Nine times. The Broncos lost 17-10 to fall to 3-6 on the season. Let’s just say that the jokes were flying on Twitter, at the expense of Wilson and the Broncos.Broncos punted the ball a lot vs. TitansThe Titans and Broncos are setting offense back 50 years today. pic.twitter.com/Q2k4RsCTHq — Field Yates (@FieldYates) November 13, 2022 Broncos & Titans punters by the...

Getty Head coach Doc Rivers of the Philadelphia 76ers. The Philadelphia 76ers are nothing if not a work in progress. The team was mired in injury problems out of the gate, including a Joel Embiid flu bug and a James Harden foot strain. Tyrese Maxey, as a result, has struggled of late but should get comfortable and find his footing with Harden out. And the bench can’t possibly be this bad, right? That’s the glass-half-full approach. The more pessimistic outlook is much different. Harden and Embiid, though masterful together in the pick-and-roll are both ball-dominant stars that aren’t providing much when the rock isn’t in their hands. Maxey looks lost without Harden and there’s little sign that he can right the ship himself. And yeah, the bench really is this disjointed. Ask 100 Sixers fans and chances are, 50 will lineup on the sunny side, and the other 50 will take the doom and gloom. But there seems to be one thing most fans are united on: a general vitriol against Doc Rivers. But according to Keith Pompey...

Pay Dirt is a weekly foray into the pigpen of political funding. Subscribe here to get it in your inbox every Thursday. The group of 147 senators and representatives who objected to President Joe Biden’s victory, the so-called “sedition caucus,” faced immediate donor backlash after the Jan. 6 insurrection. But they still raised a staggering amount of money for the 2022 election cycle—nearly $200 million. To put that in perspective, it’s about $60 million more than former President Donald Trump’s Save America apparatus raised during the same period. The national fundraising arms for House and Senate Republicans raised $262 million and $234 million, respectively. About $77.7 million came from individual donors, with another $121.5 million from other federal committees, including campaigns, joint fundraising vehicles, corporate PACs, trade associations, and other special interest groups, according to The Daily Beast’s review of Federal Election Commission bulk contribution data for the cycle, covering through Oct. 31, 2022. The raw contribution data was compiled by Advance Democracy, an independent, nonprofit organization that conducts public-interest research, and analyzed by The Daily Beast. The sedition caucus...
Mitch McConnell was right: “candidate quality” was a problem. It’s still too soon to say, as of this writing, exactly where congressional majorities will fall once all the votes are tallied. But it’s already amply clear, as The Daily Beast’s Matt Lewis has argued, that the GOP blew its chance at a classic out-party midterms sweep, and that its underperformance—concentrated, with some notable exceptions, among MAGA candidates—signaled the general electorate’s appetite for GOP normalcy and its rising distaste for former President Donald Trump and his imitators. That’s even true among many Republicans. An NBC poll, repeated regularly over the past three years, finds GOP loyalty to Trump himself steadily dropping while loyalty to the Republican Party is on the rise. Likewise, a New York Times survey showed higher support for a Republican-run Congress than for the specific Senate candidates—all Trump-endorsed—who could deliver that result. But if the big lesson of 2022 is that the GOP should return to something like pre-Trump normalcy to effectively compete in 2024, the big question is: how? Much has been made—and rightly—of Democrats’ domination...

But the paper noted that Ruhle didn't seem to buy it: “It doesn’t matter what’s happening in other cities or other states. The reason people don’t feel safe in New York is why they’re starting to say, 'Can Kathy Hochul be the right governor,' right? It doesn’t really matter what’s happening in Pennsylvania or San Francisco; you need to get New Yorkers’ votes. And safety is a top issue for us.”Can I get a witness? To wit, the grieving mother of a Buffalo woman killed in front of her children recently said Hochul was "responsible for the crime" and blamed the governor for supporting no-cash bail. Hochul also recently targeted "master manipulators" in the Republican Party for floating a "conspiracy" that Democrat-led states are "not as safe," but statistics note that while murders were down by 14% in New York City compared to 2021, all other major crimes were up — including a 33% rise in robberies. What's more, during her recent debate against Zeldin — during which he argued that she's soft on crime — Hochul actually replied, "I don't...
Klay Thompson is warming up. He’s showing signs that he is nearly back to being the impact player the Warriors need him to be. He’s not there yet. The problem is that the Warriors can’t wait for him much longer. The Warriors’ loss to the Heat in Miami on Tuesday was a perfect encapsulation of the two Klay Thompsons battling for domination right now. We saw the struggling, out-of-sync Thompson — the Washed Klay — in Miami. That player is a step slow on defense. He failed to finish a two-on-one. He badly missed two critical 3-point shots in crunch time. That’s the Thompson we have seen too often since the start of the season — the Thompson who looks like he didn’t scrimmage all summer, because, well, he didn’t. The Thompson who missed two-and-a-half seasons with catastrophic lower-body injuries. But while that Thompson was present in Miami on Tuesday, we also saw more of the other Thompson against the Heat. We saw a few stretches of The Old Klay. That Thompson is as impactful a two-way player as there is...

For weeks, the Jets have been skating by because of their defense, running game and special teams. On Sunday, the teacher Bill Belichick took Gang Green to school and forced quarterback Zach Wilson to beat the Patriots. The problem is, Wilson couldn’t and it showed during the Jets 22-17 loss to New England. Wilson did have the first 300-yard passing day of his career as he completed 20 of 41 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns. However, Wilson threw three interceptions, two of which were head-scratching. One of them in particular, Wilson was trying to throw the ball away, but Devin McCourty was near the sideline and picked it off. “I need to play better,” Wilson said on Sunday. Understatement of the year as Wilson’s interception put the Jets defense in bad situations. New England generated 10 points off of Wilson’s interceptions. That was clearly the difference in a five-point game. During the Jets four-game winning streak, the team was winning in spite of Wilson’s play. Since returning from his meniscus and bone bruise injuries, Wilson has thrown for...

Veteran broadcaster and podcast host Keith Olbermann went on a brutal tear at former MSNBC colleague Joe Scarborough for his “grotesque, unfeeling, inhuman, arrogant, condescending, holier than thou attacks on John Fetterman.” On Tuesday night, Fetterman and Oz participated in a televised debate that became the subject of heated commentary on Fetterman’s performance, a dispute over the closed-captioning tech used in the debate to accommodate Fetterman, and speculation about his condition. Scarborough was a leader in the latter regard, and on the most recent edition of his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast, he let it be known in scathing terms with a more than ten-minute diatribe that included a barrage of (at-times-personal) invective about Scarborough’s shortcomings and “whoring” for Donald Trump. But then Olbermann turned to Scarborough’s treatment of Fetterman, and shared his own encounter with brain trauma: Joe Scarborough’s attack on John Fetterman is somehow even worse than it seems. Because for every American, every human being recovering from any illness, any injury, any physical problem, any emotional problem, but especially a stroke or an aneurysm or Alzheimer’s or just a concussion. Eric Garcetti on Thursday revealed he had been sexually harassed in high school, and said that it was one of the factors that drove him to enter politics. The 51-year-old, elected in 2013, is hoping to be approved as Joe Biden's ambassador to India on leaving office, although his nomination is currently blocked in the Senate. In Thursday's interview, Garcetti revealed what motivated him to enter politics. 'I was a survivor of sexual harassment in high school myself,' Garcetti told the magazine. The Warriors might be the reigning NBA champions, but the organization’s “two-timelines” plan is still a work in progress. And it’s going to take some serious progression on that front if the Warriors are to repeat as champions. It’s early days of the season, but the Warriors have a glaring issue out of the gate: Their second unit stinks. The talent is there. The second unit passes the eye test. This should be a strong wave. But the numbers are damning. The Warriors’ starting lineup — comprised of the established veterans of the team — has been the NBA’s best so far this year, outscoring teams by 36 points per 100 possessions. But when the Warriors go to Jordan Poole and James Wiseman — the point guard and center anchors of the second unit — production has fallen off a cliff. Together, the duo has played 57 minutes and is averaging an abysmal 0.89 points per offensive possession while allowing 1.22 points per defensive possession, per NBA.com. And while the Warriors have tried...

Although Yan dropped O’Malley and got some good strikes in, O’Malley connected more and had big shots of his own. Many fans and fellow fighters expressed their disapproval of the judges’ scorecards and argued Yan got ‘robbed’ of a clear victory. Following the controversial result, popular podcast host Rogan took to his show “Joe Rogan Experience” to share his thoughts on the entertaining battle. “O’Malley was certainly in it against Petr Yan,” Rogan said (transcribed by Middle Easy). “He was a former champion, one of the best in the division by far, the number one contender. It was a very close fight. He definitely hurt Petr in multiple occasions. Caught him with that big knee,...

Talk-show host Megyn Kelly has revealed that her older sister died suddenly after suffering a heart attack over the weekend. Kelly, 51, emotionally told listeners of her podcast The Megyn Kelly Show that her sister Suzanne Crossley, 58, died on Friday in Delmar, New York. 'I've got to tell you that something really sad happened in my family over the weekend,' Kelly said as her voice cracked with emotion at the beginning of the podcast on Monday. 'My sister died. She was 58. Her name was Suzanne Crossley. And she died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.' Kelly added: 'She hasn't been in very good health for the last couple of years. It's been one problem after the other. It was sudden and it was unexpected.' Kelly said that she rushed up to New York as soon as she was told that her sister had suffered a heart attack and she was with her mother Linda, brother Paul and her nephew Brian - one of Crossley's three children - when her sibling passed. The broadcaster became emotional and paused briefly before...
When a deer is caught in the headlights, its fully dilated pupils need time to adjust. The process takes as long as several minutes, causing them to freeze with indecision, and often resulting in them getting hit head-on. This is a fitting analogy for the Democratic Party, whose eyes were adjusted to a midterm election focused on abortion, but who are now caught in the headlights—blinded by the issues of inflation and crime. Indeed, poll after poll shows that as election day draws near, Americans are increasingly ranking crime as the top issue that matters to them after the economy and inflation. And there is a reason. This is not an instance of ‘perception is reality’—in this case, reality is reality. Violent Crime is dramatically higher in cities across America than before the pandemic and every day, more and more people are either personally impacted or know someone who is. Just last week a friend and former colleague of mine was punched in the face while standing on a street corner in Manhattan in broad daylight—so don’t waste your breath...
The most misquoted lines from our favourite films have been revealed. Top of the list is what many think to be the line from Apollo 13, 'Houston, we have a problem'. While that's the line Tom Hanks says in the film, the real astronaut said: 'Ah Houston, we've had a problem'. 'Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all' from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' is actually incorrect, because the real line is 'magic mirror on the wall'. Tom Hanks's immortal line 'Houston we have a problem' was actually not what was said on board Apollo 13 Many people think the most famous line in Snow White is 'Mirror, mirror on the wall,' however the actual line is 'magic mirror' Meanwhile, in a survey of around 2,000 people, many didn't realise the real quote in Casablanca is 'Play it Sam, play As Time Goes By' rather than simply 'Play it again, Sam', which is commonly quoted. Another line often repeated incorrectly is 'Twas beauty killed the beast' from the final line of King Kong when it...

Q: I never write you, but I was at the game Wednesday night. At what point do we admit that Kyle Lowry is simply an ineffective starter? They closed within four points and he shoots two threes that did not come close to the basket on a 1-for-7 night. He was off all night. He was not defensive, not offensive. He is a veteran and has to know better. Feed Max Strus or Tyler Herro. This is not one game, it was all of last year. something is wrong there. Love Pat Riley, love Erik Spoelstra, but please start Gabe Vincent, who knows his role. – Jessie. A:The Heat have way too much invested in Kyle Lowry to have him as anything but a big-minutes, big-time contributor. Say what you want about Kyle’s age or injury in last season’s playoffs, but when you have $58 million committed to him over these next two seasons, you had darn well better get a return on that investment. He needs to be a lot better than he was Wednesday. A lot. And, yes,...
State officials blamed the oil and gas industry for natural disaster events. New Jersey's environmental protection commissioner, Shawn LaTourette, stated that the community is "continually recovering from extreme heat, furious storms, and devastating floods" caused by climate change. The lawsuit requested civil penalties and damages to cover the cost of protecting communities from natural disasters and rising sea levels. Casey Norton, an Exxon Mobil spokesperson, argued that the legal proceedings would "waste millions of dollars of taxpayer money and do nothing to advance meaningful actions that reduce the risks of climate change." She noted that the company would "continue to invest in efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while meeting society's growing demand for energy." Shell similarly argued that the courtroom was not "the right venue," but rather "smart policy from government, supported by action from all business sectors, including ours, and from civil society, is the appropriate way to reach solutions and drive progress." A Chevron spokesperson stated that the legal proceedings were "a distraction from the serious problem of global climate change, not an attempt to find...
EXPRESSING yourself through fashion can often be difficult when people constantly make trends exclusive. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie collided with fellow ABC News panelist Donna Brazile as he questioned the credibility of the January 6 Committee. Christie and Brazile were part of a panel discussion on Sunday for ABC’s This Week, and one of the overarching topics was whether election denialism and the committee’s latest hearing will have an impact on the 2022 midterms. While Christie acknowledged the committee’s “good work” in presenting the facts on the storming of the U.S. Capitol, he argued that the committee “was resigned to having a credibility problem because of the membership of the committee and the way that was done.” “There are lots of Republicans across this country who just say there’s nobody there to argue the other side,” he said. “[Adam] Kinzinger and [Liz] Cheney don’t argue the other side to the extent that there is some arguments there.” George Stephanopoulos interjected at that point to say “there’s no other side” on whether the election was stolen, as Donald Trump claimed to his rioting supporters. Brazile also wanted to know what this “other side”...
Chicago Bears players have the weekend off to regroup between Thursday’s loss to the Washington Commanders and their Oct. 24 trip to play the New England Patriots on “Monday Night Football.” As coaches and players reflect on the first six games of the season, our team of writers dig into four key topics surrounding the 2-4 Bears. 1. The biggest problem with the Bears offense is ________. Brad Biggs: Layered, which makes a solution problematic. The passing game is as bad as it gets in the NFL. The Bears are last in the league in completion percentage and last in net passing yards despite playing one more game than 30 teams. Justin Fields hasn’t played well enough. The offensive line hasn’t done a good enough job protecting him. The wide receivers are undermanned and have not played well enough. I would liken this to a chicken-or-egg discussion, but the problem is there are three causes to the passing game’s ineffectiveness and none of them offers simple in-season fixes. Fields is struggling to operate efficiently in the pocket when there is...

Former Spanish Defense Minister José Bono believes that the Sahara file no longer holds any secrets and that there is no other solution to this artificial conflict created by Algeria than the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco. Vice President Kamala Harris used the national TV platform of 'Late Night' to tear into Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's moves to bus migrants from the border and drop them outside her official residence in Washington.
