Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) to the newsmaker line to discuss Congress’ habitual overspending and advocate for strong legislation in the event of a Republican House takeover. Leahy: Good morning, Congressman Burchett. Thanks for joining us today. Burchett: Hey, it’s a glorious day here in Washington, D.C. Leahy: (Laughter) What’s on the agenda today in Washington, D.C., Congressman? Burchett: I’m sure it will be taking away some of your rights and taxing you and telling you that you’re going to defeat inflation by spending more of your great grandchildren’s money. (Laughter) Something along those lines. Simon: Up is down and down is up. Leahy: Yeah. That is crazy. Congressman, yesterday there was this bizarre press conference where Joe Biden, the president, said something. It was designed to honor the late Jackie Walorski, your colleague who died in August. And he was not aware of her death, apparently,...

YEVHEN TITOV/AFP via Getty Images Stunning audio intercepted by Ukrainian law enforcement of Russian soldiers calling home reveals potential evidence of war crimes and the rank and file’s pure contempt for Vladimir Putin. In the shocking audio obtained by The New York Times, the soldiers paint a truly dire picture of their circumstance and rage against the man responsible for putting them there. “Putin is a fool,” a soldier identified as Aleksandr said on one call. “He wants to take Kyiv, but there’s no way we can do it.” “When I come home, I’m quitting,” said soldier Vlad. “Fuck the army.” “I’ve never seen so many corpses in my fucking life,” added a soldier named Sergey. “It’s just completely fucked.” In one call to his girlfriend, Sergey said that he’d been given an order to kill civilians. “They told us that, where we’re going, there’s a lot of civilians walking around,” he said. “And they gave us the order to kill everyone we see. … they might give away our positions. That’s what we’re fucking going to do, it seems....

Taxi driver Roni, from Dallas, uploaded a video sharing a very drama-filled ride she had recently, and the part she played in the events. 1Uber driver Roni said she took matters into her own hands when she realised a man was cheating in her taxiCredit: Tiktok - Perfectly Unbroken On her @perfectly_unbroken TikTok account she shared how she picked up a man after he waved goodbye to his wife and kids outside their house. However, the man then added an extra stop to his Uber ride to pick up his mistress. Carrying “a little bit of luggage” the woman got into the car and her male companion’s mood changed immediately. Roni said: “She gets in and is like ‘I’m so glad you finally got away from your wife’. “So then he kisses her and it wasn’t a ‘hi, how are you doing’ kind of kiss. “They continued to talk, and this, that, and the other. “And she says ‘You...

The Bravo veteran has been criticized by fans for inserting herself into her co-stars’ conversations and for her treatment of her older sister, Kathy Hilton, during a cast trip to Aspen. In a new interview, Richards admitted that the stress of being on “RHOBH” weighs on her and that she originally thought the show was a short-term gig. Charlie Kirk, the founder of the Pro-Trump student group Turning Point USA, raged against the U.S. government on his podcast Wednesday and declared the military and intelligence community “guilty until proven innocent” of sabotaging the Nord Stream pipelines that channeled natural gas from Russia to Germany. “If this was an act of the Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA, which, again, is just speculation. It’s very important. How does that get us closer to peace? Is this a potential midterm election operation? Pure speculation. I’m asking a question,” began Kirk. Kirk echoed another prominent question-asker, Tucker Carlson, who asked on his top-rated show Tuesday night, “Did the Biden Administration really do this?” “I know Media Matters will have a heyday with this. Is this a wag-the-dog situation where they want us talking about a war in Europe when we have inflation, border problems, and the economy? Is this because that there is a looming red wave here? Is this an underwater October surprise?” Kirk continued, implying the pipeline sabotage was a political stunt. Notably, on Wednesday both European and U.S. officials...
CNN anchor Don Lemon and CNN legal analyst Elie Honig have a strong hunch that Trump attorney Chris Kise has been “sidelined” from leading the Mar-a-Lago defense because he won’t lie for former President Donald Trump. Kise is the attorney who quit his job at a prestigious firm and got a $3 million payday to lead the defense team for the Mar-a-Lago Espionage Act investigation. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported that after only a few weeks, Kise has been “sidelined” from that case, but that “reason for the shift in Kise’s role remains unclear.” On Tuesday night’s edition of CNN’s Don Lemon Tonight, Lemon and Honig settled on a likely reason, without definitively saying so — that Kise may have been unwilling to lie for Trump: LEMON: I want to ask about this. Trump has a new addition to his legal team. His name is Chris Kise. He’s getting sidelined from Mar-a- Lago documents investigation. He was the big name brought up less than a month ago to really represent Trump on the issue, even negotiated a $3 million-payment up front. He may...

'It's just men being men. All men cheat. It's always been that way.' If you got a group of women talking ten years ago, these kinds of statements would have been expressed. Not in today's culture. There's been a massive shift in what women will and won't put up with when it comes to infidelity. Women are more powerful than we've ever been – and we know it. Things we'd previously turn a blind eye to now mean the end of the relationship. The result is a lot of confusion on the man's part – and disbelief on ours. Men write to me complaining they don't know what the 'rules' are any more.  Tracey Cox revealed how woke culture is changing the rules on what counts as infidelity and how to avoid getting yourself in hot water. Dear Amy: I’m 32 years old. For a multitude of reasons, my personal growth was stunted after high school, and it took me twice as long to finish college as planned. In that time, circumstances (like the pandemic) led to my parents’ premature retirement and their move from northern New Jersey to The Villages, Florida. Having not gotten my career off the ground, I was forced to leave with them. Shortly after, I was able to find a job I can perform remotely, and I’m getting paid well. In the two years since, I’ve grown used to spending most of my time isolated, since there’s a sense that there’s not much a person my age can do in the country’s biggest retirement community. I’d like to move out, but the inability to form any real relationships with peers is starting to wear me down, and with the economy in the state that it’s in, I don’t know if my plans will remain viable. Udonis Haslem said he had not given it much thought before he was asked Tuesday. But, yes, he said, this is the beginning of the end. In this case, with the veteran power forward announcing last month that this would be his 20th and final NBA season, all with the Heat, it also meant that this week at the Baha Mar resort stands as his final training camp. “It’s just ‘The Last Ride’ for me. It’s just, ‘The Last Ride,’ that’s what I call it and gonna make it a good one,” he said, playing off former Heat teammate Dwyane Wade calling his own final season “The Last Dance.” “It’s going to be a fun, fun, fun season,” Haslem, 42, said. “It’s going to be a successful season overall.” While Wade meticulously chronicled his final NBA season, in 2018-19 with the Heat, Haslem said he would wait before culling his memories. “I’m going to document some of it, but I don’t know what I’ll do with it,” he said. “I’ve never been a guy that goes back and watches film...

Comedian Billy Eichner is opening up about the challenges he faced early on in his acting career. Eichner was a guest on the Sunday episode of Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend where he talked about his career, his popular show Billy on the Street, and new movie, Bros. Bros is slated to be the first gay romcom created by a major studio, set to release at the end of September. At one point during the conversation, Eichner discussed how being “too gay” was previously used as an excuse by executives to not hire him for television shows. “I had a live stage show that I did in New York, which is where the Billy on the Street videos started. I would show those videos on a screen. This is before YouTube even existed. This is like 2004, 2005,” he began. “But then an interesting thing happened where a lot of folks in the industry would come and they would acknowledge that I was talented or that they thought I was funny — that the audience was laughing a lot, that...

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) predicted on Sunday that former President Donald Trump might be headed to a "self-inflicted" indictment. During a panel discussion on ABC, Christie said that lies told by Trump and his surrogates were not being backed up in court after the FBI recovered classified government documents from his Mar-a-Lago estate. "I think these are all self-inflicted wounds by Donald Trump," Christie said. "And you know, one of the things that I always say to clients are, you know, don't out loud fight with the Department of Justice. Like, you know, we'll fight in court and do the things we need to do. He's doing the exact opposite." "His lawyers aren't fighting any of this in court," he continued. "They're really not. They're not putting forward any of these arguments. He's putting forward all these arguments on television. There comes a point where prosecutors are human too. And you want to keep daring them, they may just actually do it." Christie was reluctant to predict that Trump would definitely be indicted. "The more you absolutely...

Getty Draymond Green and Jordan Poole of the Golden State Warriors. Last year went about as well as the Golden State Warriors could have ever hoped for. Not only did Klay Thompson successfully return from his two-season absence, but they also managed to win their fourth championship in eight seasons. Stephen Curry played at an MVP level, Draymond Green turned things on when it mattered most, Andrew Wiggins was a first-time All-Star, Jordan Poole turned into a blossoming young star, everything was perfect for the Warriors. However, heading into next year, they are in a bit of a pickle. It’s possible that Green, Wiggins, and Poole will all need contract extensions at the end of the year. When asked if any of the negotiations could go awry, Warriors GM Bob Myers revealed that every discussion depends on the player involved and their motives. “I don’t think so. But you know, I’ve been on the side whereas an agent, I would sit with you and say, Anthony, you want to take had $100 million or do you want to...

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig dragged the Department of Justice over its sex trafficking investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). On Friday, the Washington Post reported that federal prosecutors are unlikely to charge Gaetz after a lengthy investigation into whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl and trafficked her across state lines. In 2020, prosecutors reached a plea deal with Gaetz associate and Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, who appeared poised to be a key witness against the congressman. That no longer seems to be the case. “This is a surprising outcome and I’ll tell you why,” said Honig on CNN Friday. “We don’t know exactly what evidence DOJ has behind closed doors. We don’t know how prosecutors are weighing that. Perhaps it’s a close call.” Honig, a former federal prosecutor, ripped prosecutors for giving Greenberg a “sweetheart deal” only to come to the conclusion he’s an unreliable witness: But here’s what really I find confusing and surprising and really bordering on prosecutorial malpractice. The reporting that we have is that the reason this case isn’t...
Getty Golden State Warriors wing Jordan Poole reacts during Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals. Bob Myers has seen a lot during his time as chief decision-maker of the Golden State Warriors, and also dating back to his time as an agent. We’ve seen a lot, even myself, and even prior to that. But I don’t know that we have been here exactly.” Luckily, Myers and his brain trust have some time to figure out most of these deals. However, they’re on a fairly tight deadline with Jordan Poole, who’s seeking a bag after exploding to the tune of 18.5 PPG, 4.0 APG and 3.4 RPG last season. As of this writing, the team has just over three weeks to...

The View co-host Ana Navarro was slapped with the title "Republican by convenience" Thursday after insisting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R) recent move to fly nearly 50 immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, was a "political stunt." "Quite honestly, Ana, you can be a Republican by conviction or you can be Republican by convenience, and I choose to act on conviction," the president of conservative Hispanic organization Bienvenido, Abraham Enriquez, told Navarro on CNN's New Day. He further explained that the transportation offered by DeSantis was to immigrants in need of food and shelter, noting that they were required to sign waivers. CNN commentator Ana Navarro confronted conservative activist Abraham Enriquez for defending Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, telling him “Don’t use your Hispanic last name” to justify the stunt. DeSantis has dominated headlines lately with his ostentatiously political transports of migrants to places like Martha’s Vineyard and (maybe) Delaware, but is being sued by those migrants amid allegations they were lured under false pretenses. On Thursday morning’s edition of CNN’s New Day, CNN anchor John Berman hosted Navarro, Enriquez, and SE Cupp to discuss the issue. Navarro took exception when Enriquez characterized the DeSantis airlift as “voluntary transportation,” and she let him know it: ABRAHAM ENRIQUEZ: Look, what the governor did was offer transportation for migrants who were homeless and needed refuge. And it was a voluntary basis. Right? …All we’re asking for is for other states, which, by the way, have sanctuary city laws, to start picking up their weight in this crisis that we have, caused by the lack of attention from our president. ANA NAVARRO: Frankly, Abraham, I don’t know how you as a Mexican-American, and I don’t know...

Vladimir Putin could not be clearer. 'I am not bluffing,' he said, in relation to his threat to go nuclear. But is he? And does it automatically follow that Armageddon would unfold if Putin launched the first nuclear bombs the world has seen since 1945? The good news is that Putin can't start World War III by simply jabbing a red button on his desk in the Kremlin. If he decides to launch an attack, the order has to go through at least three layers of checks put in place to prevent the accidental or unauthorised launch of nuclear missiles. Before reaching the nuclear silos, mobile launch sites and submarines, his command would go via three men: Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov and the head of the Russian nuclear rocket forces, Sergei Karakayev. Even after travelling down this chain of command, the launches would not follow instantly. Unless there has been a change in the standard protocols since Russia invaded Ukraine, there would be a 20-minute gap between each transmission from the 'nuclear football'...

J.R. Majewski, a GOP candidate for a Congressional seat in Ohio found himself in hot water today over past claims he made regarding his time in Afghanistan… or lack thereof. Although his campaign website lists him as a “conservative veteran running for congress,” an investigation done by the Associated Press revealed Majewski’s military experience is not what the congressional hopeful has touted. Majewski has spoken previously about serving in Afghanistan at the beginning of the war, a time in his life he can only describe as “tough.” The AP released their report on Wednesday saying that although Majewski did serve in the United States Air Force, he was never actually deployed to Afghanistan as previously claimed. According to the AP, Majewski “never deployed to Afghanistan but instead completed a six-month stint helping to load planes at an air base in Qatar, a longtime U.S. ally that is a safe distance from the fighting.” As news broke on Wednesday, a clip began circulating Twitter via Media Matters reporter Eric Hananoki, which shows Majewski describing his time in the war. The clip...
WE are not quite at the point where Jack Grealish is imitating another Manchester City maverick and wearing a T-shirt asking: “Why Always Me?” But after copping another blast from the legendary Graeme Souness, the most expensive English footballer in history might soon be borrowing Mario Balotelli’s old slogan. 3England wideman Jack Grealish says he'd rather take the advice of his Man City boss Pep Guardiola than ex-Liverpool star Graeme SounessCredit: Getty 3TV pundit Graeme Souness reckons Jack Grealish holds onto the ball too long and is a 'good, not great' playerCredit: Getty The Brummie is no whinger — insisting criticism is inevitable with his £100million transfer fee and adamant that he “just wants to be friends with youse all” in the media. Yet while Grealish is a cult hero with England fans, he has been getting it in the neck for his relative lack of goals and assists and also for his lifestyle. He believes that three-time European Cup winner Souey has an agenda against him after the talkSPORT and Sky pundit claimed he is “a good player, not...
DEAR HARRIETTE: My husband is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. One day he is screaming at me and telling me all the things I do wrong. He can be so mean and nasty. Then the next day, it’s like that never happened. He acts so nice and sweet and thoughtful. I never know which version of my husband is going to show up. This is getting old now. I feel like I am always on guard. If he is in a good mood, we will have a good day. If he is grouchy or if he has been drinking, he is guaranteed to be nasty. Jon Stewart took aim at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) over his plan to “own the libs” by moving immigrants from the “Sunshine State” to Martha’s Vineyard. In a clip uploaded to Stewart’s YouTube page, The Problem with Jon Stewart, he chatted with writers Jay Jurden and Tocarra Mallard about the latest developments with the migrants. “I don’t wanna make this racial again, but the — but the country has a history of putting nonwhite people on vessels and going, ‘Yeah. Yeah. It’ll be fun when you get wherever you’re headed,'” Jurden said poking fun at DeSantis who utilized a charter plane to ship 50 migrants to Massachusetts last week. “Oh my God. Yes. This all started with slave labor. Turn with me to your textbooks,” Mallard added jokingly. “That was not allowed to be taught at my school. So I don’t even know what you’re talking about. If that’s that CRT, I don’t want any part of it,” Stewart joked back. “Well, it’s very obvious at this point that the path to Republican power lies in dickishness,” he added....
The Texas sheriff who is investigating flights to Martha’s Vineyard ordered by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) disagrees with Vice President Kamala Harris the southern border is “secure.” Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced at a press conference Friday his office is looking into two flights that carried 48 Venezuelan migrants from Central Texas to Massachusetts. Salazar claimed the migrants were “lured” onto the planes under “false pretenses.” The Democratic lawman joined CNN to discuss the publicity surrounding his press conference Tuesday afternoon. He told network host Alisyn Camerota migrants from places such as South America deserve opportunities. After he criticized the work ethic of some American citizens, Salazar said they need jobs. “Give them the opportunity to work legally and make sure that the employers are doing it the right way and paying them correctly,” he said. “And here is the catch, tax them on it so they are paying taxes.” Camerota later played a clip of Harris saying the country’s border with Mexico is “secure.” The host asked Salazar if he agrees with the assessment. The sheriff did not:...
By Salvador Hernandez | Los Angeles Times Eight Venezuelan migrants were flown last week from Texas to Sacramento with little cash — some without shoes — and the men have no idea why they were sent or who paid for the flights, an advocacy group said. The men, who crossed the border in Laredo, Texas, had intentions to travel to New York, Florida or Utah and said they were confused as to why they were sent to California, where none of them had contacts or prospects. Three migrants landed Thursday morning in Sacramento, then walked about 20 miles to an address listed on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement documentation where they were told they’d find a shelter. Instead, the men arrived at a closed office building in downtown Sacramento, said Autumn Gonzalez, a volunteer with NorCal Resist, which provides services to migrants and advocates for immigrant rights. “It’s never happened to us before that people just randomly showed up, needing housing or assistance,” Gonzalez said. A security guard at the closed building pointed the migrants to a food bank, where...
CNN royal commentator and global business consultant Hilary Fordwich took anchor Don Lemon by surprise when she said reparations for slavery should be paid — by Africans. In a clip from Tuesday’s edition of CNN’s Don Lemon Tonight that has caught fire on social media this week, Lemon and Fordwich discussed the immense wealth of the monarchy in the aftermath of the death of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II. One facet of the wall-to-wall coverage of the queen’s death has been uncomfortable conversations about British colonialism, and this segment was no exception, as Fordwich appeared to take exception to the suggestion that the Crown owes reparations for its history in that regard. She argued it is Africans who should pay reparations: LEMON: Well, this is coming when, you know, there’s all of this wealth and you hear about it comes as England is facing rising cost of living, living crisis, austerity, budget cuts and so on. And then you have those who are asking for reparations for colonialism. And they’re wondering, you know, $100 billion, $24 billion here and there, $500 million there. Some...

'He said [to me]: "They're trying to put me in some stuff, mom".' 'I believe him,' she continued. 'I don't believe he did it. If it comes out of his mouth, that's what I believe.'  'He's just a good person, kind, lovable,' she added, disputing depictions of her son as a monster.  Speaking...

Maureen Faulkner, the widow of a slain police officer, slammed Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman for his appointment of Celeste Trusty, who had called her husband's convicted killer a "buddy" to the state's Board of Pardons. Faulkner's husband, Daniel Faulkner, was killed during a traffic stop in downtown Philadelphia in 1981 by Mumia Abu-Jamal. Abu-Jamal was sentenced to death, but his death sentence was reduced to life in prison without parole. 'MY NAME IS JOHN FETTERWOMAN': DEMOCRAT SEEKS FEMALE SUPPORT AT ABORTION RIGHTS EVENT The lieutenant governor appointed Trusty to the state's Board of Pardons in January. In 2018, Trusty tweeted her support for Abu-Jamal, saying, "I love mumia! he’s my buddy...he’s like an uncle to a bunch of my friends who were on the row with him." Faulkner called the comments made by Trusty about Abu-Jamal "infuriating" and slammed Fetterman for appointing her when speaking with Fox News. "That is just infuriating to me," Faulkner said. "I don't know what John Fetterman's doing, but I think the Philadelphia people, the Pennsylvania people, better...
National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications and former Pentagon press secretary John Kirby penned an emotional tribute to Fox News chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin. Griffin received a Freedom of the Media gold medal on Sunday from Transatlantic Leadership Network, a nonprofit “dedicated to strengthening and reorienting transatlantic relations to the rapidly changing dynamics of a globalizing world,” according to its website. The award comes following Griffin re-signing with Fox News to stay at the network. Kirby was scheduled to introduce Griffin in person but had to go to London for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, which took place on Monday. Instead, senior State Department fellow Debra Cagan read a note from Kirby, who said that Griffin receiving the award “for public service certainly seems an appropriate way to recognize her talents and contributions.” Kirby praised Griffin for bringing viewers unique reporting on historical events.
