SEX trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell says it’s a misconception that she’s “the cruellest, meanest, most poisonous person”. Maxwell, who is serving 20 years in a Florida jail, also hopes the victims of her paedophile ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein “have a productive and free life going forward”. 2Ghislaine Maxwell says it's a misconception that she's 'the most poisonous person'Credit: ERBIL GUNASTI 2Sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell says she 'wishes she never met' paedo-ex-boyfriend Jeffrey EpsteinCredit: Rex The disgraced British socialite, a former pal of Prince Andrew, gave an interview from behind bars, parts of which will air tonight on TalkTV. Asked about her public image, she said: “[I’m] definitely not the person portrayed. "I feel completely divorced from the person that people write off and talk about…in the incredible and various newspaper articles and TV shows and podcasts.” Speaking about billionaire Epstein, she said: “Clearly my association and the fact that I worked for him and spent time with him and knew him has devastated my life and hurt many people that I’ve loved and hold dear around me. “I honestly wish I...
Shamed sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has claimed she has 'no memory' of Prince Andrew and Virginia Guiffre - and that the infamous picture of them together is fake. In her first broadcasted interview since being in prison, Maxwell, 61, has insisted that she has no recollection of the pair spending time together in the UK or the US.   The infamous snap of the pair, which was reportedly taken in March 2001 at Maxwell's apartment, was given by Ms Guiffre to The Mail on Sunday in February 2011. Ms Guiffre, previously Roberts, claimed she was forced to have sex with the Prince when she was 17, having been trafficked by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who in 2019 was found dead in his prison cell.  In the revelatory interview, which will be aired on Jeremy Kyle's TalkTV show tomorrow night at 7pm, Maxwell said: 'I have no memory of them meeting. And I don't think that picture is real. 'It is a fake. I don't believe it is real for a second, in fact I am sure it is not. 'There has never been...
A Michigan man who filed down his teeth into fangs to intimidate human trafficking victims has been accused of commanding several 'generals' to do his bidding, including kidnapping women.  Michael Barajas, 36, who is seen sporting multiple face tattoos in his mugshot from the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, is accused of building a human trafficking gang called the 'Massad Squad.'  'He would tell the victim, "I'm going to rip your throat out if you don't do what I tell you to do, and you don't comply,"' said Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson. 'It's dominance. It's kidnapping. It's grooming.'  Two of his 'generals' were recently arrested and law enforcement officials have since brought 20 new charges against the ring leader who allegedly held a 20-year-old woman down while she was raped by men inside a home for two weeks. Flyers reportedly spotted inside the prison indicate that Maxwells course details "the three principles of etiquette – focusing on respect, consideration and honesty." According to sources at the prison, the four-week program run by the pedophile also teaches felons how to talk, dress, and comport themselves in business settings, reported the Daily Mail. Inmates who complete the course get 15 days taken off their sentences in accordance with the First Step Act. An insider told the Daily Mail that the pedophiles etiquette course is "less about balancing books on heads and being ladylike, and more about having confidence in yourself – how to behave and talk in a professional manner, the secrets of success in the corporate world, that sort of thing." It is unclear if the "professional manner" Maxwell is promoting to fellow inmates is the same with which she perpetrated, as U.S. attorney Damian Williams put it, "heinous crimes against children." The U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of New York made clear in June that Maxwell is practiced at coaching females to behave in a...
Ghislaine Maxwell will indulge in a vegan feast in her low-security Florida prison on Thanksgiving. The disgraced socialite, 60, will spend her first turkey day at FCI Tallahassee after she was sentenced for helping her billionaire lover, sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein, abuse young girls. Maxwell's Thanksgiving meals shouldn't be too different from what she is used to since the lunch menu at FCI Tallahassee shows she will be indulging in Tofurky before participating in holiday contests, such as volleyball, kickball, board games and a three-point shooting contest, according to a spokesperson from the prison.  Inmates will also be able to watch holiday films after their tasty dinner at the federal jail. Epstein's ex-lover will soon be joined by reality television star Julie Chrisley, who was found guilty in a $30million tax fraud case on Monday.  Disgraced socialite Ghislaine Maxwell will enjoy a vegan feast for Thanksgiving behind bars at FCI Tallahassee Epstein and Maxwell are pictured in an undated photo. In the interview from the prison where she is serving 20 years for trafficking teenage girls, she confessed: "I feel so bad for him. I follow what is happening to him." The Prince has been under intense scrutiny over his friendship with Maxwell and her disgraced former partner Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 while under arrest amid allegations of sex trafficking and child sexual abuse. ALL of Ghislaine Maxwell’s hopes are pinned on her upcoming appeal. She brings it up regularly. It looms large over our interviews and seems constantly on her mind. 4Ghislaine Maxwell - pictured with Jeffrey Epstein - said of her upcoming appeal 'It is a very, very, very strong appeal'Credit: PA 4Ghislaine Maxwell - pictured with Jeffrey Epstein and Bill ClintonCredit: William J. Clinton Presidential Library She explains: “The appeal gives me a lot of strength because . . . I’m a very centred and very grounded person.” She describes the appeal as in “full bloom”, adding: “It is a very, very, very strong appeal.” But I wonder how she feels, given her glamorous previous life. As daughter of disgraced publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell, her connections led to weekends with the Royal Family, parties with Bill and Hillary Clinton, and a private tour of Buckingham Palace with Kevin Spacey. A Philadelphia man will spend more than a decade in federal prison on sex trafficking charges, officials have announced.  Victor Clayton, 47, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars and 10 years supervised release for running an underage prostitution scheme that crossed state lines, US Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero said in a statement dated Thursday, Sept. 29.  On March 15, 2018, Clayton was arrested at a Dunn, North Carolina motel where police found him with two girls aged 16 and 15.  The 47-year-old had solicited the victims as sex workers at the motel, and had done the same with the older victim in at least four hotels in Philadelphia earlier that year, according to the US Attorney's Office. Authorities also accused Clayton of sexually assaulting the younger victim while in North Carolina, and he was discovered in a motel bed with the victim when officers arrived at the room, court papers show. He was charged with two counts of sex trafficking of a minor and one count of attempting to commit the same, prosecutors noted.  Clayton pleaded guilty in November 2021, following years...
Ghislaine Maxwell has been fired by her lawyers for failing to pay her bills. Court documents filed in the US Virgin Islands, and obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, show that lawyers representing the convicted sex-trafficker in her bid to squeeze money out of Jeffrey Epstein's estate have withdrawn their counsel. The firm Quintairos, Prieto, Wood, & Boyer, claimed in the documents that 'despite repeated requests,' Maxwell has failed to pay them.  It is the second blow to the fallen socialite's ailing fortunes in recent weeks.  Currently serving out a 20-year sentence in a low security prison in Tallahassee, Florida, Maxwell is also being sued by her criminal defense team for failing to pay legal fees of more than $850,000. The lawyers representing Ghislaine Maxwell in her bid to squeeze money out of Jeffrey Epstein's estate have fired the convicted sex trafficker Maxwell argued that during her relationship with Epstein he 'promised that he would support her financially.' A 39-year-old man was charged with sex trafficking after he held a woman apparently trying to escape by her hair, then was seen pushing a woman out of his moving car in Loudoun County, authorities said. Andrew Hill, of Martinsburg, WV, was arrested after both incidents in Leesburg on Wednesday, Sept. 14, Leesburg Officer Michael Drogan said. Trouble began around 6:15 p.m. when 9-1-1 callers reported a female passenger was trying to get out of a car being driven near the Leesburg Bypass and Fort Evans Road NE, and that the driver was holding her by her hair, Drogan said.  Police were not able to find the car, but at 7:30 p.m., a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office deputy saw a woman getting out of a moving car near Fort Evans Road NE and the Leesburg Bypass. The car fled the scene.  The deputy stayed with the female to render her aid until Leesburg officers arrived. That's when police found the woman had been assaulted and pushed from the moving car by Hill, authorities said. The victim was treated on scene for injuries sustained during the...
A New York woman was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, as FBI agents believe 'hundreds' of women have been victimized by her in the past 10 years. Ysenni Gomez, 39, was put in custody on August 12 and charged with trafficking women in the Bronx and nearby Westchester County.   According to the FBI, Gomez would post online ads using Facebook, Bedpage.com, and MegaPersonals.com to try and lure women into 'waitressing' jobs for a restaurant in Manhattan.  Gomez would specifically target Spanish-speaking immigrants with the advertisements.   The victim who helped bring Gomez in - an undocumented Venezuelan immigrant - said she was told there was no job and forced her into having sex with men, saying she'd call the feds on her to have her deported.  Ysenni Gomez, 39, was put in custody on August 12 and charged with trafficking women in the Bronx and nearby Westchester County According to the FBI, Gomez would post online ads using Facebook, Bedpage.com, and MegaPersonals.com to try and lure women into 'waitressing' jobs for a restaurant in Manhattan Gomez would allegedly corner the victims,...
A sex trafficker in Maryland has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison for recruiting a teenager to engage in commercial sex acts, according to federal prosecutors. Baltimore resident Kyle David Robinson, 29, has been sentenced to 126 months in federal prison, followed by eight years of supervised release, for sex trafficking a minor. As part of his plea agreement, Robinson admitted to knowingly recruiting, enticing, transporting, and advertising a 14-year-old to engage in commercial sex acts for his own financial benefits. In May 2021, prosecutors said that Robinson approached the teen in his vehicle while she was sitting on the steps near a group home where she lived. Robinson told the teen that he was a pimp and referred to himself as “Youngblood.” Despite the teen informing Robinson that she was a minor, he asked for her phone number and sent her a text message  The following day, Robinson picked up the teen from the group home and brought her to his residence, which he admitted to doing on multiple occasions. United States Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), whose involvement in former President Donald Trump's coup to overthrow the federal government and ensuing insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 has recently come to light, appeared on the right-wing media network Real America's Voice on Thursday and pushed conspiracy theories about President Joe Biden. Stumbling over his words, Johnson accused Biden of facilitating purported behaviors and activities for his son Hunter, whom Republicans frequently invoke when they need a distraction. Johnson then suggested that Biden had concurrently run a global human trafficking network during last year's military withdrawal from Afghanistan. "I'm highly concerned that Joe Biden is comprised," Johnson stammered (presumably, he meant to say 'compromised'). "The fact that he might have funded his son's use of, potentially, escorts in part of a sex scandal – a global sex scandal, sex, uh, operation – is also troubling." AS she stood in court awaiting sentencing for sex trafficking, Ghislaine Maxwell’s statement rang painfully hollow to all of us who have followed this sordid tale of rape and abuse of women. To her victims, it must have added considerable insult to their already injured lives. 3It is time to prosecute the men who took advantage of women 'supplied' by Epstein and MaxwellCredit: AFP Maxwell acknowledged the suffering of her victims but claimed that she, too, had been a victim. This was some kind of sick backhanded apology which teetered between trying to appease those whose lives were irreparably damaged while giving no indication of accepting any responsibility for her actions. I have no empathy for Maxwell. She can plead for victim status all she likes. She saw to it that girls and young women continued to be raped, abused and threatened. Women whose lives will never be the same again; who’ve attempted suicide; whose views and attitudes to subsequent relationships will be for ever overshadowed by what they had to endure. But their fight is far from over....
Ghislaine Maxwell’s 20-year sentence could be slashed if she is allowed to serve it in the UK. Legal expert Mark Stephens said she would then come under British law rather than US rules, which forbid parole for federal crimes. That means Maxwell, 60 – who is expected to appeal – may have to spend only a further eight years in jail, and could be free before she is 70. Mr Stephens, of London legal firm Howard Kennedy, said: ‘I think it will take until autumn to appeal. Once the appeal is done, if she’s British she’s entitled to opt for the prison swap regime – it usually takes six to 18 months as it depends on a US citizen to be shipped back to America. R. Kelly’s musical accomplishments have been accompanied by a long history of allegations that he sexually abused women and children. Now the R&B singer could be put away behind bars for a quarter-century or more when he is sentenced Wednesday in a federal courtroom in New York City. A jury found Kelly guilty in September of sex trafficking charges. While Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, has vehemently denied the allegations, his accusers testified in detail that he subjected them to perverse and sadistic whims when they were underage. A shackled, somber Ghislaine Maxwell refused to meet the stares of her victims as she entered Manhattan federal court earlier in the day to learn her fate. Maxwell, 60, entered the court wearing a light blue prison uniform with a long sleeved white t-shirt underneath it. Her ankles were shackled together and she was wearing white sneakers. Her sisters Isabel Maxwell and brother Kevin sat in the front row during the hearing and two rows behind them were her victims and their attorneys. Maxwell refused to meet the gaze of her victims even when they were reading their victim impact statements. In the case of Sarah Ransome she repeatedly looked over at her and burst into tears but Maxwell calmly sipped her coffee. When Annie Farmer began crying while reading her statement, Maxwell refused to meet her gaze as well. Judge Alison Nathan asked Maxwell to stand to read out the sentence and she showed no reaction as she was told she would serve 20 years in jail. Maxwell was led out of the courtroom in the same ankle shackles...
Earlier this month, Stevenson was convicted of trafficking women, assault, and aggravated kidnapping. Stevenson had previous criminal convictions of assault-family violence by impeding breathing and assault-family violence with a previous conviction, according to WFAA. Stevenson was sentenced to 59 years in prison. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told KTVT, "It's a parent’s worst nightmare for their own child to be forcibly prostituted by a human trafficker. We've now secured justice by forcing that trafficker to pay the consequences." Willis said Stevenson kidnapped the girl when she was only 16 years old. There were reportedly two other females who were forced into prostitution by the pimp. Stevenson openly boasted on social media that he was a pimp. He even bragged about forcing his victims to get loyalty tattoos and threatening them if they attempted to leave. Willis commended the Texans who got involved in the brutal attack in the parking lot, "I'm so proud of those citizens that were there and didn't run away and didn't turn a blind eye." 17-year-old escapes human...
Ghislaine Maxwell's brother has defended the convicted sex trafficker's 'clear conscience' and claims she 'never would have been found guilty in any civilised country' ahead of her sentencing. Ian Maxwell says his 60-year-old sister has been wronged by the US justice system and is set to spend decades behind bars because of 'unsubstantiated allegations'. Writing in the Telegraph, the businessman also bemoaned that the British socialite had not fled to France before being taken into custody by the US authorities following their investigation into her relationship with paedophile Jeffery Epstein. France has no extradition treaty with the US, meaning she 'could now be cooling her heels in the Med' instead of languishing in New York's Metropolitan Detention Center, he wrote.  The 66-year-old said he believes that his sister decided to stay because she has a 'clear conscience'. Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell's brother says the family is 'shocked' and 'perturbed' by a judge's decision to reject a retrial request - saying it was 'loaded' against her. The former socialite and close pal of Prince Andrew was found guilty last year but it later emerged jury member Scotty David had failed to disclose he had been sexually abused as a child. Her family and legal team say this swayed the jury to find her guilty of being a recruiter of teenage girls for paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and she now could face 65 years in jail. A Florida man was sentenced to 25-years in prison for sex trafficking a 16-year-old girl and an adult woman, whom he beat, raped, waterboarded in his “Torture Chamber.” Julius Dwight Mozie, 34, previously pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor by force or coercion and conspiracy to commit a sex act before being sentenced to 25 years in prison, the Miami Herald reported. United States Senior District Court Judge Beth Bloom also sentenced Mozie to 15 years of supervised release following the prison sentence, the Justice Department noted in a press release. Mozie’s accomplice, who was also a woman he formerly pimped out and later subjected to his “Torture Chamber,” received five years in prison for the same charges, the Miami Herald reported. Mozie and Stubbs met after Mozie requested her services via her online prostitution advertisement in 2019, the Miami Herald reported, citing Stubb’s and Mozie’s factual proffer statements. Prince Andrew is seeking sworn testimony from a Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell victim that will claim his accuser Virginia Roberts recruited her at 14 and trained her to give sexual massages, it has been claimed.   The high-risk gamble is part of the Duke of York's 'unclean hands' defence strategy, which will see his lawyers argue Ms Roberts does not deserve damages because she was complicit in a 'criminal enterprise'.  But the move could backfire against the royal, as his witness, Carolyn Andriano, recently corroborated claims that Ms Roberts had sex with Andrew at Maxwell's London home when she was 17 - meaning she could do so yet again under oath.   'It's potentially a double-edged sword,' a source familiar with the duke's strategy told the Times.      Andrew's team are now looking for other women who may have been recruited by Ms Roberts while under age.  'We are interested in speaking with and interviewing anyone and everyone who has information relevant to these allegations,' the source added.   Prince Andrew's team are now looking for other women who may have been recruited by his...

It is the question at the heart of the Ghislaine Maxwell controversy, the answer on which her conviction could stand or fall. Did juror Scotty David answer yes or no when asked during jury selection whether he had any history of sexual abuse? David has remained silent amid the maelstrom that has raged since he and one other juror revealed that they were victims of sexual abuse and that they shared their experiences with other jurors. Earlier this week DailyMail.com published the first interview in which David addressed the issue of what he had shared during jury selection in both the prospective juror questionnaire and follow up questions during voir dire. In the hours that followed the government called for an inquiry while Maxwell's lawyers called for a mistrial and new proceedings entirely. Now, seen here for the first time, this exclusive video captures the moment the matter was raised as David first denies that any question about his sexual abuse history was asked, then pivots and claims that he does not remember. A paroled sex trafficker from New Jersey who served nearly 10 years in federal prison was free barely a year when he returned to pimping women and girls, authorities charged. A federal judge in Newark ordered Amin Sharif, 47, of Newark detained following a brief video conference Wednesday afternoon. Records show Sharif, formerly of East Orange, was released from federal prison on Jan. 30, 2020 after serving nearly 120 months for sex trafficking. He'd taken a plea bargain after investigators caught him trafficking underage girls and women, recruiting some of them from out of state on MySpace and other social media platforms, then advertising their services on Craigslist. Sharif again became a law enforcement target in January 2021, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Philip R. Sellinger said Wednesday. Sharif "used several social media platforms and profiles to recruit women and minors to engage in sex acts for money," Sellinger said. "Once in contact with his victims, Sharif used threats to coerce the victims into engaging in commercial sex acts. "He advertised women and at least one underage girl online...
Ghislaine Maxwell could lodge a claim of mistrial after it emerged one of the jurors who convicted her was a victim of child sex abuse. Scotty David said he had helped the other members of the jury understand things from a victim's point of view. He also claimed the five guilty verdicts returned last week, possibly condemning Maxwell to spend the rest of her life behind bars, were for 'all the victims'.  But legal experts said if he did not disclose his past experiences before the jury deliberations, Maxwell could have grounds to claim a mistrial and have her convictions quashed. Moira Penza, a former federal prosecutor in New York, said: 'I certainly hope the juror disclosed this fully on his questionnaire.  Scotty David said he had helped the other members of the jury understand things from a victim's point of view. A STONY-faced Prince Andrew has broken cover for the first time since his sex trafficker pal Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty. The Duke of York was snapped leaving his Royal Lodge home to drive to Windsor Castle to have lunch with the Queen. 1Prince Andrew broke cover today after Ghislaine Maxwell's guilty verdict Shamed socialite Maxwell, 60, helped entice vulnerable teens to ex-lover Jeffrey Epstein's properties for him to sexually abuse between 1994 and 2004. She could spend the rest of her life in prison after being convicted of five out of six counts of sex trafficking for vile Epstein’s paedophile ring. It's reported Andrew's lawyers were locked in emergency talks following Maxwell's guilty verdict amid fears his pal could "name names". The jury's verdict to convict Maxwell has sparked alarm in the Prince's legal team because the burden of proof in a criminal case is far higher than in a civil case, the Mirror reports. Legal experts reportedly point to OJ Simpson who was acquitted in criminal court but was found guilty of double murder in a civil case. Meanwhile, it has been claimed Maxwell could start "naming names"...
A lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein’s victims says Prince Andrew should be ‘quaking in his boots’ over Ghislaine Maxwell’s guilty verdict. Los Angeles attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented eight victims of the billionaire pedophile, said the conviction of Epstein’s madame for sex trafficking brought her and her clients to tears.  Maxwell, 60, was found guilty of five of six counts of sex trafficking minors for Epstein and now faces a maximum sentence of 65 years in prison. Although his name was barely mentioned, Prince Andrew’s presence hovered uneasily over every moment of Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.  Twice it came up, and on each occasion it offered a tantalising glimpse of both his folly and breathtaking lack of judgment. He was named by a pilot as one of the passengers flown on sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, the so-called ‘Lolita Express’, with all its unsavoury undercurrents.  And ‘Jane’, one of the anonymous girls who claimed she was groomed by Maxwell to be abused by Epstein, said she had been on the plane with the Prince.  For his part, Andrew has admitted he flew on the plane but insists he never saw anything untoward. As disturbing as the courtroom disclosures undoubtedly were, it was the emergence of a photograph of Maxwell cuddling up to Epstein on a bench at the Queen’s picnic cabin at Balmoral — issued by the prosecution — that electrified proceedings. They were left distraught by the news Ghislaine would not discover her fate until after Christmas - with the socialite now forced to spend Christmas Day - which is also her 60th birthday - behind bars.  The sisters  and their brothers, Ian and Kevin Maxwell, who can also be seen in the video anxiously awaiting a verdict Wednesday, will now have to wait at least 48 hours to learn their sister's fate for the unspeakable crimes she is accused of that see her facing up to 80 years in a cage.  Sobbing Christine, at left, can be seen being comforted by her twin sister Isabel in the backroom of a New York courthouse as they await a verdict in their sister's sex trial Isabel,...
In the Ghislaine Maxwell criminal trial, it’s a case of youth on one side and experience on the other. The four prosecuting lawyers trying to put Ghislaine Maxwell behind bars for decades are all in their thirties, with a combined age of just 138 years. Opposing them, Maxwell’s quartet of defense attorneys have an average age of 58 and in total are 94 years older than their adversaries. ‘It’s like The Rolling Stones versus The Killers,’ one court watcher told DailyMail.com. ‘They’re both heavyweights, although one has been around a lot longer. ‘It is very noticeable that Maxwell’s lawyers are not only older, but significantly more experienced.’   Maxwell, who will turn 60 on Christmas Day, is accused of enticing a child to engage in sex acts, sex trafficking, transporting a minor across state lines with intent to engage in illegal sex acts and three counts of conspiracy. Lead defense counsel Bobbi Sternheim, 67, gives off a retired punk vibe with her oversize blazers, and hipster gran glasses,’ said one court-watcher. Sternheim’s case relies heavily on getting the jury to believe...
The panel on Fox News’ The Five erupted on Monday over the trial of Ghislane Maxwell, the alleged procurer for the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Following a discussion about actor Jussie Smollett, who is on trial for allegedly creating a hoax in which he portrayed himself as the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in 2019, panelist Geraldo Rivera said, “I think Jussie Smollett will plead to one of these charges of disorderly conduct. He has six disorderly conduct for filing false reports. I think that he will, faced with an insurmountable case, will plead guilty.” Slamming his hand on the table, Rivera said, “I am outraged by the Maxwell case. You talked about Darrell Brooks, the creep who ran over his girlfriend and then killed six people in a parade and he was out on a $1,000 bail.” “Ghislaine Maxwell has been in jail for 17 months for no bail,” continued Rivera. “No bail! She is sitting in prison prior to trial accused, get this, of  events that between 1994 and 1998.” Brooks has been charged with killing six people and injuring more than 40 in Waukesha, Wisconsin on...
Jennifer Carnahan, the Chair of the Minnesota GOP, resigned Thursday night after allegations of harassment, abuse, and ties to a child sex trafficker came to light. Carnahan is the wife of Representative Jim Hagedorn (R-MN-01). Allegations of harassment and workplace abuse began being anonymously posted on social media after the indictment of Anton Lazzaro, a long-time GOP donor and political activist, on child sex trafficking charges. Reportedly, Lazzaro had a long-time relationship and friendship with former GOP Chair Carnahan and was even invited to Hagedorn and Carnahan’s wedding. Carnahan refused to resign for several days, alleging in her first public statement regarding the situation that she had “no direct knowledge” of Lazzaro’s alleged illicit activity and that she was not “in any way involved.” Carnahan went on to say that assuming guilt by association was “setting a dangerous precedent” for the Minnesota GOP and for the country. Fox News host Tucker Carlson and his guest on Wednesday night decided to run with an accused child sex trafficker as their source to prove a long-running right-wing conspiracy about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Yes, you read that correctly. For years now, Omar—a naturalized American citizen born in Somalia—has been dogged by unproven and largely baseless rumors from the right that her ex-husband is actually her biological brother and that she married him so he could obtain American citizenship. As The Daily Beast’s Will Sommer wrote back in 2019, the origin of the conspiracy centers on a single anonymous online post on an obscure Somali diaspora forum. Despite no proof surfacing to support the politically motivated smear, Carlson—who has maligned Omar as “living proof” U.S. immigration laws are “dangerous”—has been undeterred, relentlessly promoting the conspiracy on his show and hosting anyone who will breathe more life into it. On Wednesday, he brought on New York Post columnist and Fox News contributor Miranda Devine as the latest person to make the case. Earlier this week, Devine wrote a column that implied...

Anton Lazzaro, who's been accused of conspiring to recruit and solicit minor victims to engage in commercial sex acts, has denied the charges against him. A number of Republicans have been largely silent so far about donations they received from a Minnesota Republican operative and major GOP donor who was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges Thursday. According to the Justice Department, Anton Lazzaro was arrested by FBI agents on charges of conspiring with others to recruit and solicit six minor victims to engage in commercial sex acts. An attorney for Lazzaro, a former Republican campaign manager who has donated nearly $200,000 to Republicans, denied the charges against him. Lazzaro is also the founder, director, and principal funder of Big Tent Republicans PAC, which aims to "[broaden] the base and appeal of the Republican Party to a new and diverse generation of Americans." Ken Martin, chair of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, the state's Democratic Party committee, on Thursday called for "each and every elected official, candidate, and organization that received...
The purported 'real killer' of 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts has been pictured for the first time along with the alleged accomplice who 'kidnapped' her, as a judge is set to rule on the defense's request for a new trial that could potentially exonerate the college student's convicted murderer. Sentencing for Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 27, was delayed on Wednesday after defense attorneys presented two potential new suspects - and witnesses - in the 2018 murder case that they believe will clear their client.    In a court hearing in Iowa Thursday, lawyers argued that a 21-year-old man, now identified as Gavin Jones, had allegedly confessed to fellow inmate Arne Maki that he and another man had killed Tibbetts after she was kidnapped and taken to a house used for sex trafficking. The hearing was to determine whether prosecutors should be ordered to turn over information to Bahena Rivera's lawyers on sex trafficking investigations in the region where Tibbetts was killed.   On Friday Judge Joel Yates denied the motion, saying the request was 'overly broad', the Des Moines Register reported.  Yates also noted that the defense's...
Matt Gaetz's apparent wingman Joel Greenberg has been accused of pocketing $432,700 in fraudulent COVID-19 relief loans that he applied for after being arrested for identity theft.  The disgraced former Seminole County tax collector fraudulently applied for and successfully received three separate payments under a government scheme set up to help businesses struggling during the pandemic, according to the federal indictment and first reported by The Daily Beast. The Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) were said to have been granted for two businesses he owned - DG3 Enterprises and Greenberg Media Group - which had actually not been in operation for four years. Greenberg was slapped with six charges over the alleged fraudulent loans, including defrauding the government, bribing a government official, theft, and wire fraud. In total, he is facing a slew of 33 charges including sex trafficking a minor and is said to have been cooperating with Justice Department investigators amid their probe into him and Florida congressman Gaetz.  Last month, it was revealed that Gaetz is under investigation for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old girl and trafficking...
Ghislaine Maxwell in 2013. Laura Cavanaugh/Getty Images Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers are frustrated by widespread reporting on her sex life. Prosecutors have accused Maxwell of sex-trafficking and sexually abusing young girls. Her lawyers say unsealing more of her deposition would give the media details they shouldn't have. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers are annoyed that media outlets have reported on the accused trafficker's sex life, asking a judge to keep evidence related to her criminal case sealed. In a new filing in the case — where Maxwell faces sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and perjury charges — her lawyers argue the testimony prosecutors seek to unseal is "undeniably private" and should remain under seal. "Every sentence that is publicly released in this case has been widely publicized, in print, broadcast and online media, both within and without this jurisdiction," the lawyers write in the filing. "Quotations from testimony concerning 'three-way sexual' activity and 'sex toys' 'cater to a "craving for that which is sensational and impure"' rather than serve a legitimate issue of public interest."...

Matt Gaetz made a late night transaction to accused sex trafficker Joel Greenberg in May 2018, with Greenberg then transferring the exact same sum to three women, it was reported on Thursday night. The $900 transaction, via the app Venmo, was reported by The Daily Beast.  Greenberg transferred $900 in total to three different women - one of whom is now reportedly working as a porn actress.  Greenberg, currently in jail, is said to be cooperating with prosecutors, in what his lawyer said was bad news for Gaetz.
