The newlywed husband accused of murdering his wife in their honeymoon bungalow on an exclusive private island in Fiji has challenged the ‘quality’ of the police evidence against him at a court hearing today. Memphis man Bradley Dawson, 39, is accused of beating to death his pharmacist wife Christe Chen, 39, on July 9 at the secluded $3,500-a-night Turtle Island Resort just two days after they checked in for their honeymoon. Her brutally beaten body was found slumped in the small space between the toilet and the wall of the bungalow’s bathroom. Dawson appeared at the High Court in Lautoka on Monday morning local time where his lawyer told Judge Riyaz Hamza that his client’s constitutional rights may have been breached. The lawyer, Iqbal Khan, also questioned the admissibility of a caution interview done by police after his arrest in July. He has now applied for what is known as a voir dire hearing - or, a trial within a trial - which has been scheduled for October 19. Dawson, who has pleaded not guilty to Chen’s murder, will make...

Even though the Green Bay Packers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it does not overshadow one glaring issue they have. One of the big matchups of Week 3 was between the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This was the fifth and possibly final time that Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers would face off head-to-head. The Packers were victorious, as they held on to defeat the Buccaneers 14-12. Tampa Bay appeared close to tying the game with a two-point conversion, but Brady’s pass to wide receiver Russell Gage fell incomplete. Even with the win and improving their record to 2-1, the Packers receiving corps still needs help.Packers wide receivers still an issue despite Week 3 winOf course, the big storyline entering the 2022 season was how Green Bay would overcome the losses of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The team used three draft picks on Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure, while also signing veteran Sammy Watkins. With a new receiving corps, there will be some growing pains. Getty Images Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky (left) and Kenny Pickett. After the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football, Brooke Pryor of ESPN asked Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin whether he would consider making a change at quarterback — or play caller — during the upcoming minibye. “I’m not in that mindset. I’m interested in reviewing this tape and looking at the totality of it and how we collectively get better. So the answer to that question is: Definitively no,” he said, during his post-game press conference. That seems a pretty clear indication that Tomlin plans to continue to remain patient with the development of the Steelers offense. And that Mitch Trubisky will still be Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback when the team returns to action against the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium on Oct. 2. Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) denied allegations Wednesday that it introduced its “gender-affirming” clinic as a scheme to “make money for the hospital” and that employees with “religious beliefs” were warned they would suffer “consequences” for not participating in the transgender medical interventions. Author and journalist Matt Walsh broke the story about Vanderbilt’s gender clinic that provides minors with body-mutilating surgeries and hormones that produce permanent, irreversible changes to children presented by parents as gender dysphoric. Walsh told Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson Tuesday night: We know for a fact…that [at] Vanderbilt they perform double mastectomies on minor girls…They give [children] irreversible hormone drugs that change their bodies permanently. Asked by Carlson if he has spoken to anyone from Vanderbilt University Medical Center about his findings, Walsh said he reached out to the hospital for a statement when he first published his report. “At first, they didn’t want to give a statement and they, and they actually just took down … they just deleted … their entire transgender clinic website, they wiped it from existence,” Walsh added, noting Vanderbilt released...

Getty Steve Kerr looks on during a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns. On the latest episode of his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, the titular Golden State Warriors star made a particularly strong statement about Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver. Green’s proclamation: hold a vote and get him out of the league. After an investigation deemed that Sarver had used the n-word on several occasions and also engaged in other acts of misogyny and workplace abuse, the NBA instead handed down a one-year suspension and a $10 million fine. Green was far from the only one who thought that those punishments didn’t go far enough, though, with many calling for Sarver’s ouster. And while the league office didn’t go that far, Sarver looks to be removing himself from the situation by selling his team. Former President Donald Trump said his company told lenders the financial valuations of collateral he provided could not be relied on. In an interview with Sean Hannity at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Wednesday, Trump reacted to a civil lawsuit against the Trump Organization announced by New York Attorney General Letitia James earlier in the day. “Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us,” James said at a press conference. She is seeking $250 million and wants to permanently bar Trump and his adult children involved in the company from operating businesses in New York. Trump has long faced accusations that he inflated the value of assets to secure loans from financial institutions. “First of all, these are banks of the best law firms in the world,” Trump told Hannity. “They do their own work, they don’t rely on us. The Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised benchmark interest rates by another three-quarters of a percentage point and indicated it will keep hiking well above the current level. In its quest to bring down inflation running near its highest levels since the early 1980s, the central bank took its federal funds rate up to a range of 3%-3.25%, the highest it has been since early 2008 following the third consecutive 0.75 percentage point move. The increases that started in March and from a point of near-zero mark the most aggressive Fed tightening since it started using the overnight funds rate as its principal policy tool in 1990. The only comparison was in 1994, when the Fed hiked a total of 2.25 percentage points; it would begin cutting rates by July of the following year.Along with the massive rate increases, Fed officials signaled the intention of continuing to hike until the funds level hits a "terminal rate," or end point of 4.6% in 2023.The "dot plot" of individual members' expectations doesn't point to rate cuts until 2024; Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and his colleagues...

Leigh Vogel/Getty Images Fox News anchor Bret Baier disputed reporting that he pushed the network to retract its call that Joe Biden won Arizona in the 2020 presidential race. Insider reported on an excerpt of the new book from The New York Times’ Peter Baker and The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser titled The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021: Baier called for Fox News to reverse its call of Arizona for Biden. In the email to Fox News president Jay Wallace, Baier appeared to be pushing for the network to retract its call. “’It’s hurting us,’” said Baier, according to the authors. “’The sooner we pull it — even if it gives us major egg — and we put it back in [Trump’s] column the better we are in my opinion.’” But Baier said the “full context” of the email was not presented in the book. In a statement through a Fox News spokesperson, the anchor said, “This was an email sent AFTER election night. In the immediate days following the election, the vote margins in Arizona narrowed significantly...
Getty Jalen Hurts #1 of the Philadelphia Eagles. The biggest question surrounding the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles was whether they had a franchise quarterback in Jalen Hurts. The next query after that, does he deserve a contract extension? And when do the two sides head to the negotiating table? Following Hurts’ dominating performance under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, those talks might be starting sooner rather than later. The former Heisman Trophy runner-up looked like a leading candidate for NFL MVP honors, throwing for 333 yards and 1 touchdown while completing 84% of his passes (26-of-31). Hurts also ran for 57 yards and two scores, including a back-breaker that showed off his work on the squat rack. It was a statement moment in arguably the best single-game outing by an Eagles quarterback since Michael Vick in 2010. A judge on Monday approved a motion by prosecutors to vacate the murder conviction of Adnan Syed, the subject of the first season of the popular “Serial” podcast, who has maintained he is innocent in the 1999 slaying of his ex-girlfriend. Baltimore prosecutors filed the motion last week asking for a new trial for Syed, who has been serving a life sentence after he was convicted of first-degree murder, robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment in connection to the killing of Hae Min Lee. In explaining her decision to vacate, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa Phinn cited material in the state investigation that was not properly turned over to defense attorneys, as well as the existence of two suspects who may have been improperly cleared as part of the investigation. Her ruling was met by cheers and tears in the courtroom. Syed — who attended the hearing wearing a white button-down shirt, a dark tie and a kufi cap — was not handcuffed, but his feet were. After the ruling, officials uncuffed his ankles, and soon after, Syed walked out of...
