Kansas City Chiefs fans don’t have a lot of patience remaining for Skyy Moore, who hasn’t looked great in his first few games. Moore received just a few snaps in Kansas City’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. With a long week in hand, Eric Bieniemy and Andy Reid vowed to use Moore on offense and special teams. A three-and-out appeared to suggest a strong first quarter was coming, but quickly thereafter they faced a deficit. Kansas City football fans have been through a lot, but given the embarrassment of riches on the roster, they don’t have a lot of patience for Moore’s rookie antics. Getty John Collins #20 of the Atlanta Hawks reacts with Trae Young #11 after drawing a the fifth foul from Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks It appears the Atlanta Hawks are still celebrating a playoff victory from two seasons ago. And one particular dunk from that heated series in 2021 reminds a running joke in the locker room there. The Hawks held Media Day on Friday, September 23 to usher in the start of training camp. According to a Twitter photo, the team held a birthday party for John Collins (he turned 25) and presented the star forward with a cake. Innocent enough, right? Zoom in. The luscious dessert has a custom-designed topper: it shows Collins dunking on Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid. The questionable slam is from Game 6 of the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Replays showed the refs missed an offensive foul call on the play, but nothing was called. Collins went on to rub Embiid’s nose in it by having a T-shirt printed up with the dunk on it. Then, he wore it...
Former President Donald Trump biffed it when he tried to say the word “great” but wound up delighting anti-Trump social media users by saying “We have to keep our country gay!” Trump held another rally in Wilmington, North Carolina Friday night, where QAnon salutes were once again observed. But near the beginning of his speech, Trump made what was either a gaffe or a surprise declaration of a significant shift in his professed cultural views: To stop the destruction of our country and save the American dream, you must vote Republican. Joe Biden and the Democrat arsonists do not care one bit about the pain and suffering they’re causing you or your family or our once great country. Remember, I was going to say, was going to use an expression, “We have to keep our country gay,” but it’s not… I mean, for some reason, it’s just not great anymore. And we can name those reasons. And we’re going to discuss them tonight. All politicians misspeak — lord knows President Joe Biden does as he combats a lifelong stutter — but...
The Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators battle in Knoxville on Saturday afternoon. College gameday was in attendance, and the signs were beautiful. The Vols are favored over the rival Gators — and for good reason. Tennessee is undefeated on the young season, which includes a win over the 24th-ranked Pitt Panthers on the road. Josh Heupel’s offense is as impressive as advertised, with Hendon Hooker leading the way. Hooker is a dark horse Heisman candidate, and a true dual-threat player at the position. The Vols average a full yard-per-play more than the Gators on offense, and give up a full yard-per-play less on defense. That, plus the homefield advantage of hosting this game in front of a raucous crowd in Knoxville, is why the Vols are favored.Tennessee vs Florida: College gameday signs from KnoxvilleDespite the praise heaped on Tennessee above, the Gators’ offense is not to be taken lightly. Anthony Richardson has big-play potential at his best. Sadly, that time is not now. Meanwhile, Billy Napier is hoping to turn around a Florida program that hasn’t seen a National Championship...
Getty Punter Michael Palardy (5) spent four seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The Philadephia Eagles worked out two players ahead of their Week 3 matchup in Washington. The most intriguing name was Michael Palardy, a veteran punter who earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the Miami Dolphins in Week 13 last season. Palardy, who went undrafted out of Tennessee in 2014, has bounced around eight different NFL teams while seeing action in 72 career games. His longest stay was in Carolina where he booted 243 punts for 11,011 yards or 45.3 yards per punt. Getty New York Jets defensive lineman Micheal Clemons running onto the football field. When the New York Jets turned in the No. 117 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft, no one really batted an eye. Defensive lineman Micheal Clemons was the pick out of Texas A&M but not many people knew about him. One quick Google search revealed an older player (25) who had some prior off-the-field issues. However, after just one singular Clemons press conference, the fan base simultaneously fell in love and was scared for their lives.Micheal Clemons Is an Incredibly Intimidating IndividualClemons is listed on the official roster at 6-foot-5, 270 pounds and those numbers don’t quite do him justice. Getty Philly-born actors Will Smith and Bradley Cooper chat at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards. James Harden wasn’t the only one repping the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday Night Football. Bradley Cooper was spotted in the stadium cheering on his hometown football team, too. The Hollywood actor was juicing up the crowd while showing his love for the Sixers via a retro Allen Iverson shirt. Cooper — a big-time Philly sports fan, on and off the silver screen — was being showered with love on Twitter for his wardrobe choice. And the “Cooper Iverson shirt” quickly turned into a hot selling item on the internet. The Sixers were smartly watching everything unfold from afar, then pounced on the opportunity. Their social media team put out a plea to get in touch with Cooper: “he seems like he’d be a great bell ringer this season!” It’s a great honor to ring the ceremonial Liberty Bell prior to Sixers games. hey sixers twitter, we're trying to get in touch with this guy…he seems like he'd be a great bell ringer...

The New York Jets have been led by Joe Flacco through the first two weeks of the season and that’ll continue on Sunday versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Legendary NFL wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. playfully warned that he would suit up once more if Pittsburgh Steelers players weren’t careful.  The Cleveland Browns may have handily won with one-man wrecking crew Nick Chubb, but Jacoby Brissett’s connection with Amari Cooper shouldn’t be overlooked. Cooper caught seven passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in their Thursday night victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. And if Steve Smith Sr. suited up to take on the Steelers, he guarantees that some of those Steelers wouldn’t have even seen the field for the game. The camera operator during Thursday night’s Yankees-Red Sox game had everyone convinced Aaron Judge had just tied Roger Maris’ home run record. Everything was set up for Aaron Judge, the Yankees and the MLB world. You couldn’t have scripted it better. It was the bottom of the ninth in a tie game between bitter rivals. Judge came to the plate with a chance to hit his 61st home run of the season and walk off a playoffs-clinching victory. He swung. He made sweet contact. The ball soared high through the air. The crowd erupted. The broadcasters raised their voices. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the camera work, which didn’t exactly track the high fly ball until it was landing harmlessly in the glove of Red Sox outfielder Enrique Hernadez. He needs one more to tie Roger Maris for the AL single-season record. The Red Sox don’t look like they’re going to give him the chance to get there. The rivalry series between New York and Boston began on Thursday night with Judge walking in each of his first two at-bats. Yankees fans booed pitcher Michael Wacha and the Red Sox at the stadium. Getty Sixers star Joel Embiid was criticized by TNT during Game 5 for being "distracted" over not winning the NBA MVP award. It’s going to be tough to top last year’s City Edition jerseys for the Philadelphia 76ers. Those classic and clean uniforms paid tribute to The Spectrum, aka “America’s Showplace, and fans gobbled them up in droves. While people were angling for the team to bring them back for the 2022-23 season, that’s not how the NBA’s marketing machine works. New year. New threads. With the Braves win over the Nationals and the Brewers falling to the Mets on Tuesday night, Atlanta clinched their playoff berth and fans were hyped.  At this point in the season, it was merely a formality that the Atlanta Braves would be in the 2022 MLB Playoffs. But with their magic number at 2 entering Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Nationals, they were hoping that they could punch that ticket sooner rather than later. The Braves did their part. On the back of home runs from Travis D’Arnaud and Dansby Swanson — and not without some unnecessary drama in the ninth inning courtesy of Kenley Jansen — Atlanta picked up a 3-2 win over Washington. But at the same time that was happening, Francisco Lindor crushed a grand slam for the Mets that pushed them ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers and ultimately proved to be the go-ahead play. And with that, the Braves were able to clinch their spot in the playoffs. The reigning World Series champs will be in October ready to defend the crown.Braves clinch playoff...
Aaron Judge took another step towards history on Tuesday night as he cranked his 60th home run of the season, tying Babe Ruth for second in AL history.  With the way that Aaron Judge has been playing in the second half of the season, it’s felt like a matter of when and not if the New York Yankees slugger was going to break the American League record set by Roger Maris. But first, he had to get to 60 and match the mark set by another Yankees legend, Babe Ruth. He did that in monstrous and dramatic fashion on Tuesday night with a tattooed blast against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the ninth, making history as he tied Ruth for second in American League history in a single season. Getty Carson Wentz must quickly prove his doubters wrong when the Commanders host the Jaguars. We interrupt this Victory Tuesday celebration to bring you an important message from Carson Wentz. The Washington Commanders quarterback is feeling a “lot of emotion” heading into his Week 3 matchup against the man who replaced him. That’s right. Not all catches in the NFL are created equal. That is objectively true for touchdown passes, which get you six points on the board. But even beyond a scoring pass, various circumstances like proximity to the sideline, other defenders, the amount of air time, and more are used by NFL’s Next Gen Stats in order to calculate completion probability. That number helps us appreciate tough passes even more and quantify the difficulty thanks to all the measurements AWS tracks for Next Gen Stats. Photo by Hannah McKay – WPA Pool/Getty Images Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral is currently underway, and the royal procession is likely to be one of the most televised events in recent British history. The funeral for the monarch after 70 years on the throne is undoubtedly a somber and profound day for the United Kingdom, though the stateliness of the affair was slightly marred when watchers saw an uninvited guest getting way too close to Elizabeth’s coffin. The casket was carried into Westminster Abbey on Monday as it was adorned with flowers, the queen’s crown and scepter, and also a letter King Charles III wrote to say farewell to his departed mother. As audiences watched the festivities, people got a close-up on Charles’ card, and they just so happened to notice something creepy and crawly scurrying across it. While people have been lining up for days to say goodbye to the queen, the British were probably not expecting a spider to breach security for a prime spot at the funeral. And the crawling critter did not escape the audience’s...
Las Vegas Raiders fans are now wondering whether or not Arizona Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy really scored a touchdown as he crossed the pylon.  This afternoon, two professional sports teams owned by Mark Davis played: the Las Vegas Aces in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals, and simultaneously, the Las Vegas Raiders when they hosted the Arizona Cardinals at Allegiant Stadium. The good news is that the Aces won their first WNBA championship in franchise history, and a beaming Davis presented team awards as he glowed over this major victory. The bad news? His NFL team wasn’t as lucky today, losing 23-29 in overtime and starting off their 2022 season with a record of 0-2. What’s worse is that beyond overtime, the loss came in typical Raiders fashion: down to one gut-wrenching play that didn’t go their way. When Hunter Renfrow got smashed by the Cardinals defense, the ball went flying, and Cardinals cornerback Byron Murphy was the one to recover. Murphy ran all the way for a touchdown, stunning Raiders fans. SCOOP & SCORE FOR THE WIN! The @AZCardinals...
The Las Vegas Raiders choked away a 20-point lead to lose to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime and Twitter took them to task. The first week of NFL action was all about missed kicks. The second week was all about blown leads. The Raiders may have avoided getting pulled into the kicking drama last week but they were front and center in Week 2 with a stunning collapse against the Cardinals. Las Vegas had a 20-0 lead at halftime. They went into the fourth quarter comfortably ahead 23-7. They gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including one as the clock ticked to zero, and two fourth-quarter two-point conversions. Since it apparently wasn’t painful enough to watch their big lead evaporate, Las Vegas then found the most excruciating way to lose the game in overtime. Hunter Renfrow fumbled not once, but twice. Cooper Rush remains undefeated as the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback following the team’s 20-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dallas Cowboys were seemingly heading into a downward spiral, as starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a fractured right thumb and would be sidelined multiple weeks following surgery. With that, the Cowboys moved forward with Cooper Rush as QB1, with his second start of the season coming against the Cincinnati Bengals, the defending AFC champions. Dallas pulled off the upset, as they defeated the Bengals 20-17 on a game-winning, 50-yard field goal by Brett Maher. Getty New York Jets youngsters Tony Adams and Jamien Sherwood celebrate a victory in Week 2. The New York Jets social media team has already come up with a name for the insanity that fans just witnessed in Week 2: The “miracle in the land.” MIRACLE IN THE LAND pic.twitter.com/RRvtGyt9a0 — New York Jets (@nyjets) September 18, 2022 In case you missed it — or gave up on it — the Jets defense allowed what appeared to be a game-clinching rushing touchdown by Nick Chubb with one minute and 55 seconds remaining. This score put them at a deficit of 30-17. Two offensive plays later, Jets WR Corey Davis was trotting into the end zone on a long 66-yard touchdown where he slipped behind the secondary. That gave them life, the onside kick recovery by special teams captain Justin Hardee Sr. — with some help from safety Will Parks — turned life into momentum. After a second Garrett Wilson touchdown, an extra point from Greg Zuerlein, and an interception by safety Ashtyn Davis, the Jets completed one of...
The Las Vegas Aces win their first-ever WNBA Championship, and WNBA Twitter is losing it over a fantastic WNBA Finals run.  The Las Vegas Aces win their first-ever WNBA Championship, and it’s tough to pick a headline. There’s the tear the Aces have been on ever since the All-Star break, which A’ja Wilson spoke to before the WNBA Finals kicked off: “Being the No. 1 seed, considering that people looked at us crazy heading into All-Star break on a losing streak, I think it’s something that’s pretty special and it speaks about our system here in this franchise.” Wilson’s season is deserving of a series, hinted at in a recent Nike “Run It Back” ad. If Wilson won WNBA Finals MVP, she would have become the first person to win Defensive Player of the Year, league MVP and Finals MVP since Hakeem Olajuwon did it in 1994. But it wasn’t just A’ja who made the dream a reality. Chelsea Gray, the recipient of the WNBA Finals MVP trophy, boosted the Aces offense in key Game 1, 2 and 4 victories....
The brawl between New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans isn’t anything new — here’s their history. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints were deadlocked in a 3-3 contest. The Buccaneers offense faltered as they struggled to bring this NFC South rivalry back to life. Tom Brady was so frustrated that he destroyed a tablet à la Bill Belichick. Then, as NFL Films would put it, the game saw an undeniable turning point: when Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore struck one another and an all-out brawl ensued. Both Evans and Lattimore were disqualified from the game, and Evans was so peeved that he shoved a camera following him to the locker room. Saints fans cheered on Lattimore as he headed to the locker room in the Caesars Superdome, but the “WHO DAT” chants fell silent once vintage Jameis Winston emerged and the Buccaneers made the most of three turnovers. The final game score was 20-10, but it doesn’t seem like the score between Evans and Lattimore has been settled — nor...
The Cleveland Browns had a 30-17 lead over the New York Jets with under two minutes remaining. They lost 31-30, and were relentlessly trolled by Twitter users. The Cleveland Browns looked to be on the verge of improving their record to 2-0 on the season. With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the Browns extended their lead to 30-17 after a touchdown run by Nick Chubb. The Browns were unable to make the extra point to give them a two touchdown cushion. That ultimately backfired for Cleveland, as the Jets made the comeback of all comebacks, picking up the 31-30 win. Everything that could go wrong for the Browns, did go wrong for the Browns, and let’s just say they did not get much sympathy from Twitter users.Browns roasted on Twitter after blowing lead and losing to JetsThe Browns had a 99.9% win probability with 1:55 to go. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans and New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore got into a fight during Sunday’s game. Lattimore and Evans have a history. As division rivals, these two have gone head to head on multiple occasions, and were even in a previous incident similar to this one. The first time, Evans felt he was defending his sideline. When a Buccaneer pushed Lattimore in the back, the defensive back responded by shoving said player. This prompted Evans to get involved, resulting in a full-on brawl. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson proved even further that he deserves a lucrative contract extension as he torched the Miami Dolphins in the first half. Quarterbacks have gotten paid this offseason, from Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, to Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos. One signal caller who is due for a new deal is Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Prior to the 2022 season-opener, Jackson revealed that he and the team could not reach an agreement on a contract extension by the self-imposed deadline, and that his focus would be on the campaign. Jackson had a strong showing in Week 1 against the New York Jet. But in Week 2, Jackson torched the Miami Dolphins defense in the first half. Jackson completed 11-of-13 pass attempts for 210 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Ravens to a 28-7 lead at halftime. Appalachian State’s announcers had an entertainingly enthusiastic reaction to their team’s victory over Troy after a dramatic Hail Mary pass in the final two seconds of the game. ESPN’s College GameDay had traveled to Boone, NC for the first time to watch the much-hyped matchup with Troy, coming one week after the Mountaineers had upset then sixth-ranked Texas A&M, refusing to accept their role as a non-conference sacrificial lamb, but more than happy to cash the $1.5 million check the Aggies offered to lure them to College Station. Getty Amon-Ra St. Brown celebrates a score with DJ Chark. The Detroit Lions endured a stinging Week 1 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, but with the Washington Commanders in town, things have taken a turn the other way. While it felt as if the Lions felt like a same old outfit in the first week of the season, things took a decisive change early in Week 2. Early and often, the Lions were all over the Commanders, and their effort set the internet on fire. Plenty of folks saw the Detroit effort and came away very impressed with what the team was able to do in piling up the yards and impact plays. Sports Illustrated writer Albert Breer pointed out the wild discrepancy in yardage that the teams had early on, which pointed to a dominating performance by the team. Everyone in the boxing community seemed to have the same feeling: Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin 3 was a huge, lacklusting, disappointment of a bout and the judges’ scores were awful There was no question this time who won the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin — but it was also the most one-sided and easily the most boring and disappointing. Alvarez earned an easy unanimous decision over GGG to retain his undisputed super middleweight championship. The opening round between the two was fairly quiet, though Alvarez showed a sense of production by working the jab. And that proved to be the story for the first half of the fight. Alvarez focused on jabs and straights to the head for six rounds, leading the dance. Golovkin, meanwhile, seemed unable to do anything to answer back. Golovkin attempted to stand and trade with Alvarez in the pocket in round seven, but Alvarez moved around the ring and started to work over Golovkin’s body. Golovkin finally started to back Alvarez up in the ninth round, but it was too late and Alvarez...
Ronald Acuña Jr. is coming alive at the perfect time for the Atlanta Braves down the stretch. It has been nothing short of a grind for Ronald Acuña Jr. this season, but the man keeps grinding. Although he has had his moments this year, the Atlanta Braves‘ most talented player is probably not going to regularly play up to that level until he has a full offseason to recover from blowing his knee out two Julys ago. He is still making plays in right field on occasion, stealing a few bags here and there, but if he can keep on doing this at the plate, the Braves might actually repeat this fall. ESPN took a surprise trip to the Fun Belt on Saturday, previewing Appalachian State’s matchup against Troy. The College Gameday signs were predictably awesome. While App State’s storied history as a beloved underdog may be why most college football fans have heard of them, in the Sun Belt, they’re a regular favorite. The conference opener for Shawn Clark’s group cannot be understated in its importance — the main goal for every team to start the season is to win their conference. Appalachian State is no exception. This is why Clark laid out dozens of mouse traps around the team facilities this week as a lesson — do not, under any circumstances, take the cheese. “When you do well, it’s human nature to think you’ve arrived, but don’t take the cheese,” Clark said. “Be careful out there when people want to tell you how good you are. This is a friendly reminder to be locked in.” College football is great, isn’t it?Appalachian State vs Troy: College Gameday signs from BooneThis might be the only place where the locals don’t get offended when...

Tyreek Hill might not be in Kansas City anymore, but he’s still geeking out watching Patrick Mahomes throw touchdown passes for the Chiefs.  It goes without saying — or at least it should — but Patrick Mahomes is ridiculously good at football. It feels at this point that Mahomes is to football what Prince was to pop music; he just effortlessly makes a job as difficult as being an NFL quarterback look easy. And both, despite their greatness, were taken for granted almost as quickly as they rocketed to peak popularity. After throwing five touchdowns in Week 1, the guy who was graded as the eighth-best quarterback in the league kept reminding us how stupid it is to consider him anything less than the best. The first was a scramble that kept an otherwise dead play alive that ended with a sidearm touchdown throw, and it was textbook Mahomes. ????
