Flashpoints throughout the tournament have raised questions over safety and the ability of police and security to handle big crowds — and there are more tests to come as the World Cup reaches the latter stages. One of the biggest issues is ticketless fans turning up at stadiums. There is the possibility of an Argentina v Brazil semi-final next week, where tickets will be highly sought-after. Fan separation is another problem.  Pressure is mounting on Qatar's crowd control capabilities as the World Cup progresses RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Cristiano Ronaldo's former Man United coach Rene Meulensteen... After putting on a monster performance in a 123-110 home win over the Suns on Sunday, the big man said he’s having “fun” as the Lakers fight to escape the NBA’s play-in tournament. If the play-in were to begin today, the seventh-seeded Lakers would occupy the first slot, as the tournament will include matchups between the No. 7 through 10 seeds in each conference for a chance at a playoff berth. “We were a great team last year, and this is the first time since I’ve been here that we ran into a challenge. This is a different challenge for us,” Davis said, according to ESPN. In Sunday’s win, Davis became the first Laker in history to record at least 42 points,...
(CBS Chicago) — The NCAA Tournament field is set. The entire regular season as well as the conference tournaments were all building up to this. After the cancellation in 2020 and the subsequent year of COVID restrictions, March Madness is back on. But it will be a little different. All of this year’s March Madness will take place in Indiana rather than at venues spread out across the country. In fact, 55 of those 67 games will be played in Indianapolis. The coverage will span four networks — CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV — with all games also streamed via NCAA March Madness Live. Games that air on CBS will also be available for streaming on Paramount+. Staging 67 games at a variety of locations for a variety of viewing outlets is a logistical challenge in normal times. The ongoing pandemic adds additional layers of difficulty. Karla Torrijos La Jornada newspaperFriday, February 12, 2021, p. a10 Favio Álvarez, forward for Pumas, acknowledged that the start of his team in the Guardianes 2021 tournament has not been as expected; However, he was confident that they will be able to rebuild the path, since the squad is almost the same as the one that achieved the runner-up in the previous contest. Last tournament we were doing well and they were also criticizing us, but we turned a deaf ear and kept going, now it’s the same. We are the same ones who reached the final the previous semester without being paid for us and now we are not the worst because we lost two games. I am not interested in what they say, I trust the work and we are going to reverse this situation, he said yesterday in a virtual conference. He considered that to increase the level of the team, they must first improve individually and thus the collective will rise. Nor should we be mistaken as we did in previous matches, as that led us...
Tennis : Gaining strength against his compatriot Pablo Carreno-Busta, Rafael Nadal finished in cannonball and will play in the semi-finals on Saturday. Roland-Garros’ Rafael Nadal is insatiable and when he leaves his opponents crumbs, that’s about the maximum they can expect from him. Rafael Nadal de Bercy is much less imperial and its victories much more difficult too. Nevertheless, for his return to the courts of the AccorArena, the best player in history on clay deserves credit for passing the laps. And if he has never yet triumphed in the indoor tournament of the Capital, Saturday, he will defend his chances in the semi-finals and can aim for a second final for him in the tournament after that lost in 2007 against Nalbandian. Yet, once again, the Mallorcan is far from irresistible in this same city of Paris whose land transcends him and makes him do wonders. Friday, in the third quarter-final of the day, he even took his time to overcome Pablo Carreno Busta (4-6, 7-5, 6-1, 2h15 of play), who therefore...
