Police in Wisconsin are investigating a deadly crash involving state Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley that left a mother and her five-year-old daughter dead a day after the Democratic lawmaker allegedly underwent eye surgery.  Bewley, 70, was not injured in the July 22 crash that has drawn national attention after preliminary reports showed she pulled out in front of another vehicle. She was not taken into custody and charges have not been filed.  Police Chief Bill Hagstrom stressed to Ashland Daily Press on Wednesday that Bewley is not getting preferential treatment. He says investigators are waiting for State Patrol reconstruction reports before the case is passed on to Ashland County District Attorney David Meany, who will ultimately determine whether or not charges would be filed. Bewley, who represents northwestern Wisconsin, was leaving the parking lot of Maslowski Beach around 12:30 p.m. on July 22 when she pulled out into the path of a vehicle, colliding with it, causing it to spin across the highway and hit another car.  The driver of the first vehicle, Alyssa Ortman, 27, of Pennsylvania, and her five-year-old...

Police-worn body camera caught the moment a rookie cop saved the life of a week-old baby girl by giving her CPR after she suddenly stopped breathing. The video shows Officer Nick Greene following a man outside a Shorty's convenience store in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday and running up to a red truck, where a woman was slouched over in an apparent attempt to protect her baby girl. At that point, Greene's partner, Noah Cole, whose body-worn camera captured the entire ordeal, could be heard calling for an ambulance at the gas station at the intersection of 18th Street and Broadway. Meanwhile, Greene sprang into action, gently hitting the seven-day-old baby's back as she appeared to be motionless. Finally, after a few tries, the girl could be seen crying out as her breath returns and she began to move her arms. 'There we go, there we go, there we go,' Greene could be heard saying before telling his partner that the situation is under control and handing the baby back to her crying mother as she sighed with relief. 'The police think she is a runaway.' He added: 'When police arrived they didn't do a proper search of our house. They didn't use search dogs. Nothing. Kaylee is very trusting. With his mom in attendance for his first game as a New York Met, Francisco Lindor hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat — what a way to make a first impression. It’s safe to assume that Lindor made his mom proud with this incredible bomb he hit. Of course, she is probably proud of him regardless of whether he hits home runs or not, but to do it in his first at-bat with the franchise, had to be a special moment. The baby formula shortage across the U.S. is continuing to put parents in difficult positions, including one mother who says she only has a two-week supply of the medical-grade formula she needs for her two children and she’s getting no answers from formula makers or lawmakers. Alexa Beichler joined America’s Newsroom on Fox News on Tuesday to discuss her situation, revealing the emergency shipment of 70,000 pounds of formula brought into the country did her no favors. The shipment, prompted by increasing supply chain issues, did not include the specific formula her two children need. Without it, there is the risk of permanent brain damage, the mother said. Beichler recently received a call from representative, Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA), but was given no answers once she revealed the 70,000-pound shipment did not contain the formula she needs. “That was kind of upsetting because if she can’t get any answers and I can’t get any answers, who has the answers?” the mother told co-host Julie Banderas. Beichler also said she’s spoken with the maker of the formula she needs and was...

Mother’s Day has felt a little less than normal over the last couple of years. The COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of many Mother’s Day gatherings in 2020, and while things felt more familiar in 2021, this year may mark the most normal Mother’s Day celebrations since 2019. Pandemic-related restrictions have now been lifted in many towns and cities. Though it’s best to confirm if any rules and restrictions are still in place before making any plans, individuals who want to make sure Mom has a special day can consider these planning pointers. – Revisit old traditions. On the face of it the clutch of family photographs released to mark the Queen’s 96th birthday are just as they should be, a touching and heart-warming celebration of the monarch as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. From a slideshow of images issued by Prince Charles showing him and his mother down the years, to more recent snapshots of the Queen surrounded by the Royal Family’s newest and youngest generation, they are formal and informal, in colour and in black and white. And all have one thing in common — our Queen of 70 years is wreathed in smiles. But it is the one shared by Prince William on Twitter that perhaps bears the most scrutiny. The picture taken by the Duchess of Cambridge in 2018 shows William’s grandmother and late grandfather Prince Philip crowded together on a comfy sofa at Balmoral Castle with seven of their great-grandchildren. In a week when Prince Harry has made a none too subtle attempt to carve out an aura of exclusivity in his own relationship with the Queen, it is a powerful — and...
