Sen.-elect John Fetterman's wife Gisele said the 'right-wing hates women' after she was criticized for accompanying her husband to Capitol Hill for orientation last week. 'The right-wing hates women. They especially hate strong women, and I think that's what you're seeing,' Gisele Fetterman told The New Republic in an interview published Monday.  The second lady of Pennsylvania - or 'SLOP,' as she refers to herself - stepped in when her husband suffered a stroke just days before the Pennsylvania Senate primary in May, becoming a national political figure almost overnight.  With that has come the attacks - like the conservative site Red State dedicating a whole post Tuesday to the 'Eye-Opening Gisele Fetterman "First Day" Senate Photo' saying it 'spark[ed] questions, mockery galore.'  The photo shows the Fettermans standing on either side of the senator-elect's new office sign in one of the Senate office buildings. One poster highlighted in the Red State piece cropped John Fetterman out, commenting, 'Fixed it.'   'The fact that a spouse of a senator-elect has been attacked nonstop for the past 24 hours and everyone's OK...
KRISTON JAE BETHEL/AFP via Getty Images Gisele Fetterman is biting back at criticism of her from right-wing circles, declaring in an interview that the right “hates women.” Fetterman was in the spotlight more than most midterm candidate spouses as she helped her husband, Senator-elect John Fetterman, recover from a May stroke. The Democratic senator-elect defeated the Donald Trump-endorsed Mehmet Oz in his Pennsylvania race. In a New Republic piece entitled “Mrs. Fetterman Goes to Washington,” Gisele Fetterman pushed back hard on the her husband’s critics focusing specifically on her after his health struggles. The New Republic’s Pablo Manríquez noted some of the more recent attacks on Gisele Fetterman, including mocking from Fox News hosts like Harris Faulkner over a photo she posted to social media where her husband was partially cropped out — Senator-elect Fetterman is 6’8. The photo is part of a running joke the two have had for years, long before the two were thrust onto the national stage. Fetterman chalked up criticism of her to a hate for “strong women.” “The right-wing hates women. They especially hate...
Photo by Jason Connolly/AFP via Getty The Denver Post published late Friday a 911 call from early August in which neighbors of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) allege the congresswoman’s husband threatened them and destroyed their property. The Garfield County Sheriff’s deputies ultimately decided to let the Boeberts and their neighbors settle the dispute between themselves but the Post reports, “calls also provide additional context into what the neighbors, in Silt, said amounted to excessive speeding, property damage, possible drunken driving and threats made from a man whose family openly and regularly carries their firearms.” “I’m sure he’s loaded to the hilt. Do you know who his wife is? Lauren Boebert. She’s loaded. They all have guns,” one neighbor told a 911 dispatcher. “He just got chest to chest, face to face, looking to fight.” The incident reportedly began after the neighbor confronted one of the Boebert’s children while driving down their street in a dune buggy. “He’s going like 50 miles an hour and this is a residential lane, there’s kids,” one neighbor can be heard in the 911 call....
Among the prominent Russian television personalities pushing Vladimir Putin's propaganda about his on-going invasion of Ukraine, one in particularly has caught the attention of media watchers. Even before the war began Putin's 'Iron Doll' Olga Skabeyeva was regularly spouting wild pro-Kremlin rants which have only intensified since Russian troops crossed into Ukraine on February 24. Along with her husband Yevgeny Popov, she has spread baseless conspiracy theories, overstated Moscow's war successes, parroted Kremlin lies about 'Nazis' in Ukraine, and issued dire warnings of World War Three and threats against the West. As a result, she has been branded a 'monster' by commentators, with other analysts suggesting her sabre-rattling rhetoric has marked a shift in the Kremlin's tone. In her most recent appearance, the 37-year-old mother joined other Putin propagandists on Russia1's 'Evening Vladimir Solovyov', where they gloated over the death sentences handed to two Britons fighting in Ukraine. RICHMOND — Prosecutors in two Bay Area counties have declined to file criminal charges against Richmond’s police chief and her husband, an Oakland police sergeant, who were accused of assaulting a family member and threatening her boyfriend, this news organization has learned. Chief Bisa French, Richmond’s first Black woman police chief, poses for a photo in her office at the Richmond Police Department on Friday, July 24, 2020. (Dylan Bouscher/Bay Area News Group)  On Dec. 23, the Contra Costa District Attorney declined to file assault or false imprisonment charges against Richmond police Chief Bisa French and her husband, Oakland police Sgt. ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A rural Alaska man who threatened to kill the state’s two U.S. senators in a series of profanity-laced voice messages left at their offices in Washington, D.C., has pleaded guilty to making the threats in exchange for having other charges dropped. Jay Allen Johnson, 65, entered his guilty pleas Monday in federal court in Fairbanks to two counts of threatening to kill a U.S. official. RICHMOND — In a court hearing capped off by tears and calls of, “I love you,” the Richmond police chief and her husband, an Oakland police sergeant, have agreed to stay away from their 18-year-old family member who has accused them of threats and domestic violence. At the Monday morning hearing in Richmond, Richmond police Chief Bisa French and her husband, Oakland police Sgt. Judge Ksenia Tsenin made the agreement official, signing a two-year stay-away order, which allows the woman to contact the Frenches if she changes her mind. Michael Rains, who represents the Frenches, said they agreed to the order to avoid “Fifth Amendment issues” that may come up in the hearing, adding they wanted to avoid the young woman making self-incriminating statements. Bisa and Lee French wiped tears from...

It had been flagged for unauthorized activity, she told Torres, a 43-year-old Colorado man who opened the account a month earlier in the name of his company, the Student Resolution Center LLC. The funds in the account would be held for 90 days before being returned to Torres, the banker said. Torres did not take it well, according to an FBI arrest warrant. “How do you feel closing someone’s account given the current situation regarding COVID-19, protests and Black Lives Matter, you must feel good about yourself, how can you sleep at night?” Torres allegedly shot back. He demanded the bank employee’s last name. She refused to give it to him and hung up. It could have ended there. Instead, what followed, according to multiple court filings reviewed by The...

A Maine woman who sent a threatening letter to Sen. Susan Collins after her vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison. Suzanne Muscara, 38, was convicted last November of mailing what she said was a joke letter containing white powder and the word “anthrax” to the Maine lawmaker’s home. The missive was intercepted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at a mail sorting facility in Hampden on Oct. 17, 2018, less than two weeks after Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court. The envelope contained a note with a stick figure drawing of the Maine Republican — with X’s for eyes and the tongue sticking out — along with the words “AnthRAX!!! HA HA HA!!!” FBI tests showed that the white powder was harmless. It was intercepted two days after Collins’ husband, Tom Daffron, had opened a letter claiming to contain ricin. Muscara was identified by a fingerprint and arrested in April 2019. Prosecutors said the Burlington woman was upset with Collins over one of her...

There are walls and there are walls … The official residence of Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in Lansing will soon have an eight-foot high, electrified fence surrounding it; the fence and ancillary security upgrades will reportedly cost $1.1 million. The Washington Free Beacon pointed out: Whitmer, a Biden surrogate, has attacked the idea of using barriers to prevent illegal immigration. She called President Donald Trump’s border wall “costly and ineffective” in February 2017, nearly a week after suggesting that money for the wall would be better spent elsewhere. “$40 BILLION for the wall,” Whitmer tweeted. “Think how many kids that would educate, how many roads, bridges and pipes it would fix.” Whitmer also campaigned against Trump’s wall in 2018, saying, “it is time we get back to building bridges, not walls.” The Detroit News reported that Whitmer spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said, “Routine maintenance and upgrades are performed as needed to ensure the safety, security and protection of any sitting governor and the first family.” She added that the added security would be paid for with funds from the executive office budget. The renovations at the governor’s residence were...
