He added that he knows there’s a steep learning curve ahead in his new racing career. “It’s something I wanted for a long time,” Muniz said. “I actually did race cars professionally from 2006 into 2010, but I took a long 10-12 year break and realized I’m not getting any younger, and if I want to reach my goal of racing in NASCAR, now’s the time.” After co-host Pete Hegseth asked what preparation Muniz undertook to make the jump into one of NASCAR’s premier series,...

When the lights lowered and thumping bass music filled a Silicon Valley event space this October, Jim Dukhovny was in his element. He is a former events promoter and musician dubbed “DjWizard” who is accustomed to hyping up rooms filled with revelers. But he was not there to play techno, Dukhovny was there to sell the world on a product that so far is relegated to fantasy novels: flying cars. “Almost all science fiction worlds have one thing in common. Almost every vision of the future came up with exactly the same thing – a flying car,” Dukhovny told a crowd of supporters and media. “Back to Future, Jetsons, Bladerunner, science-fiction is no longer fiction. The future is now.” Jim Dukhovny, founder of Alef Aeronautics, unveils a protocol of a flying car, Thursday, Oct. 19, 2022, at a press event in San Mateo, Calif. A rude resident who was parking nine cars on their street had to pay a hefty price for their misdeeds after a petty neighbor sought revenge.   The poster, believed to be from the US, revealed on Reddit that they had grown increasingly disgruntled with their neighbors, who had nine cars and parked none on their driveway, preferring to line them up along the street and taking space from other residents. Eager to punish the offender, they got their revenge by tipping off the local authority about illegal building on their property after noticing that the neighbor had built a second unit on their plot in record time.  They revealed that the tip off ended up costing the neighbor $100,000 after local authority demanded that they demolish the unit, which had been built without the necessary permit.  Readers on Reddit loved the story of petty revenge and suggested the author of the post should get the neighbor's cars towed.   One person believed to be from the US revealed on Reddit that they had grown increasingly disgruntled with their neighbors, who had...
RIDESHARE giant Lyft has missed its own prediction that it would be mainly driverless by now but has a new goal in mind. Back in 2016, the rideshare service’s CEO John Zimmer predicted that most of Lyft’s rides would be self-driving in five years according to a Medium post. 2Self-driving Lyft sedan sits on displayCredit: CNBC While Zimmer’s prediction proved wrong, the organization’s co-founder is still optimistic about the company’s self-driving future. It has launched self-driving vehicle services in Las Vegas, Nevada, Miami, Florida, and Austin, Texas, with safety operators in front seats. And the transport company’s CEO says he now expects to offer true driverless trips in the next two to three years. Republican Virginia Gov. Glen Youngkin ripped a move by California regulators to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035 – and fumed that his own state is tangled up in a law tying it to California's emissions standards. The governor, who took office earlier this year and is sometimes mentioned as a Republican presidential prospect and GOP alternative to former president Donald Trump, took on California's regulatory move on Twitter.  He also blasted his own state's lawmakers for tying the two states together. 'In an effort to turn Virginia into California, liberal politicians who previously ran our government sold Virginia out by subjecting Virginia drivers to California vehicle laws,' Youngkin wrote. A shirtless man was filmed storming out of his California home early Thursday morning carrying a machete as he tried to confront a street-racing gang that was apparently keeping him awake. The unidentified man was barefoot and wearing just basketball shorts when he was filmed holding what appeared to be a machete at the intersection of Haster Street and Orangewood Avenue in Anaheim shortly after midnight. He seemed to want to confront the large crowd that gathered at the intersection to watch as at least three young men in a black Chevy spun donuts and did burnouts outside his house while a crowd gathered on the streets to watch. But ultimately the man turned away and walked back to his house without incident. Soon, though, KABC reports, a fist fight broke out at the same intersection. Police said they received about a dozen calls about the street takeover last night, and arrived just seven minutes after the first phone call — but the crowd had already dispersed, according to NBC Los Angeles.  Authorities said there were no injuries or accidents...

The war of words between former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk is intensifying—and getting weirder. Formula One stars have been granted an exemption to continue wearing jewellery in their cars until the end of June, with further discussions between drivers and the FIA set to take place over the next month. The FIA has enforced its International Sporting Code more strictly so far this season, clamping down on the wearing of piercings and chains in both the Australia and Miami Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton was left furious with the move, but the Brit has been told he will be able to wear his nose piercing for the next three races after FIA chiefs extended their rule exemptions. Hamilton, whose piercing is not easily removable, called the potential ban 'unnecessary' and a 'step backwards' after new F1 race director Niels Wittich looked to bring in the changes.   ‘When they [the FIA] told me about the jewellery, they were saying safety is everything,’ the seven-time world champion said earlier this month. ‘I said, “Well, what’s happened for the last 16 years? The cohosts of The View discussed Wednesday the deadly mass shooting at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday that killed 19 people. Sara Haines discussed her difficulty in processing what had happened and noted that at times like these she turns to statistics for comfort. Haines offered some data points and then took aim at a common retort for gun advocates, that cars are also deadly weapons. “We talk about cars and a lot of gun people say, ‘Cars kill people, are we going to get rid of cars?” she said. “With cars, you need a license. In Texas, you need zero to go get a gun or carry a weapon. The license in Texas requires not only a road test, but all the applications, thumbprints, and everything else,” Haines continued. “Why do we not do that with an actual deadly weapon? They say, ‘guns don’t kill people. People kill people.’ I can concede that and I agree,” Haines argued. “We need to fight for these red flag laws because every one of the shooters in the deadliest mass shootings...
By Steven Dennis | Bloomberg Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to sell her Tesla. Ted Cruz is considering buying one. Driving an electric car manufactured by Elon Musk’s company is an increasingly loaded decision for lawmakers. Stepping out of one in the Capitol Hill parking lot can be a signal of support for renewable energy — but with Musk’s dive into partisanship, it also can be a political symbol. The Tesla Inc. chief executive officer has recently delighted Republicans by announcing his backing of the GOP and unleashing a stream of criticism of Democrats, unions and what he calls the “woke mind virus.” “He’s a billionaire. Lawyers are set to file over 100 new claims against Hertz on behalf of customers who say they were victims of false arrests because the company's computer system erroneously reported their rental cars to police as stolen. The new claims come despite promises from the company's CEO just this month to fix what he called a glitch in the system causing the false reports.  Stephen Scherr, who took over as CEO on Feb. 28, said the company has changed its practices to fix problems that have occurred when cars were reported stolen but the transaction was improperly recorded in Hertz's system. However, another 100+ cases are set to be filed to add to the more than 230 to date, which have sought over $750million in damages. Some of these new cases are being filed as civil cases separate from the bankruptcy proceeding because the incidents happened after Hertz got out of bankruptcy. The allegations have caught the attention of Congress, who are demanding the Federal Trade Commission investigate.   Michael Okoasia, 29, a music video director from New York City, said he was...
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – When a trio of heavily armed burglars broke into his auto body shop on April 11, owner Mohamed Mouaddine was on a plane, but was automatically notified of the break-in. In what he described as a well-organized commando-style entrance into his business, the intruders smashed through a garage door, then spent about a half-hour inside the shop loading customers’ cars up with tools, computers, catalytic converters, parts, and other accessories. They then drove away in customers’ cars, stealing two cars in all. “I was shocked like everyone when I saw the footage,” said Mouaddine. In a video provided to CBS4, the men are seen brandishing weapons during the burglary. One of them is armed with a pistol and a second gun. Two are wearing gloves and masks. NBC News reporter Josh Lederman has been stuck in his snowbound car on I-95 roughly 30 miles outside of Washington D.C. but did not let that keep him from doing his job. A winter storm in the DC area has left three people dead and knocked out power, leaving half a million people in the area without power. It has also wreaked havoc on area commuters, evidenced by aerial shots provided by NBC News, just before Lederman filed a report on the tough conditions to Morning Joe, from behind the driver seat of his own car. “Mika, this is a bit of an insane and dystopian experience,” Lederman opened his report before revealing he left Washington D.C. Monday night at 7:15 PM. 15 minutes later he was at a standstill and has been that way since. He put a finer point on that, saying “thousands of cars where I am on the highway on I-95 have been in their cars overnight without food and water and been 26 degrees outside and nobody knows how long we are going to be...

A California father of three was shot dead days before Christmas by a burglar he and other neighbors chased down in a Los Angeles suburb. Joey Casias, 38, was killed in Covina, about 20 miles outside L.A., where homicide figures have soared 52 percent in the past two years and Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon is under fire for his soft-on-crime policies. Police said the trouble began December 21 about 11 pm, when 'multiple neighbors' on the city's 1100 block of North Charter spotted a man stealing from a parked car. They followed him about a half a mile away to the 1800 block of East Covina Boulevard. When the bandit was confronted, he pulled out a gun and fired several rounds, fatally wounding Casias, who was a UPS driver and Boy Scouts' leader police said. The crime happened as criticism mounts around Gason, who continues to be called out for a zero-bail policy that some critics say is exacerbating the region's crime problems by freeing criminals to offend safe in the knowledge they'll be straight back on...

Actor Seth Rogen is being slammed for his 'privileged' comment after shrugging off Los Angeles YouTuber Casey Neistat, who tweeted about having his car robbed, referring to the crime as 'part of 'living in a big city.'   Neistat, 40, who used to be a prominent YouTuber in New York before moving to the West Coast, took to Twitter on Wednesday to tell his followers that 'our cars got robbed,' and blamed the city for being a 'crime riddled 3rd world s**thole of a city.' This caught the attention of Rogan, 39, who responded to the tweet saying: 'Dude I've lived here for over 20 years. You're nuts haha. It's lovely here. Don't leave anything valuable in it. It's called living in a big city.'  Neistat later reported that his seven-year-old daughter's birthday party decorations were stolen from his car and that the looter left 'bloody hand prints' on his vehicle. It is unclear what caused the looter to bleed.   Rogen called Neistat 'nuts' before telling him 'it's lovely' in live in LA, despite rising crime rates and a series of...
