NASA'S massive space telescope has found a bunch of planets that could well be suitable for life. Experts have got their first glimpse of seven planets orbiting their Sun, known as TRAPPIST-1. 2How TRAPPIST-1 compares to our solar systemCredit: NASA/JPL-Caltech But don't get packing your bags just yet, the group are located 39 light-years from Earth. The space agency's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was able to spot them and found some fascinating details. The most noteworthy being that they're within the star's habitable zone where there may well be liquid water. This, of course, is one of the important things needed for a planet to be able to support living organisms. It's too soon to know for sure but scientists expect to have a better idea within the coming months and years thanks to James Webb's incredible ability to detect stuff we've never seen before in space. This includes things like carbon dioxide or methane, which are also a big hint. The seven planets are all closer than Mercury is to the Sun, the closest planet to it in...

It was a picture perfect moment in The Hague - Meghan and Harry warmly embracing Invictus Games competitor Lisa Johnston, who was draped in a Union Jack, after the former army medic and amputee had just competed in an event at the Games the Prince founded in 2013.  In the background of the photographs, it's clear to see the moment being caught on film; one of several times since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a rumoured £88million deal with Netflix that a camera from the streaming service has been by their sides on a public outing.  The TV giant, say industry sources, is set to unleash the fly-on-the-wall documentary on the royals' lives and work next week on 8th December.  This is despite reports that the couple had tried to push it back to 2023 - unnerved by both Series 5 of The Crown sparking controversy on both sides of the Pond, and the release of Harry's tell-all memoir on the way in January.

Getty Zach LaVine #8 of the Chicago Bulls plays during the 2021-22 regular season. How can the Chicago Bulls make up for the expected absence of Lonzo Ball? By taking the ball out of Zach LaVine’s hands more. Not entirely, of course. That would be counterintuitive with one of the game’s best scorers. It's worth noting that Apple says your Significant Locations data is stored on your device and not shared with others. It's also end-to-end encrypted. Some people still find the feature creepy even though no one else should see the data unless they hack your device. The feature has been used to catch cheating partners repeatedly going to a suspicious address. The good news is it's easy to turn off. Apple announced a new iMessage feature on Tuesday that protects children from sending or receiving nude images. The feature, offered in beta testing, analyzes attachments in messaged of users who are marked as children in accounts. If a child receives or attempts to send an image with nudity, the photo will be blurred and the child will be warned about the content – but they still have the option to send or view the sensitive content. However, children have the ability to message someone they trust for help if they choose. Apple said it will ensure message encryption is used in the process and promises none of the photos or indication of detection leaves the device, Apple shared in a blog post. The safety feature is enabled in the second beta of Apple's iOS 15.2 that was released Tuesday, but it is not yet clear when it will be released as an official feature.  The feature, offered in beta testing, analyzes attachments in messaged of users who are marked as children in accounts. Baseball announcers Melanie Newman and Jessica Mendoza will mark a milestone for ESPN when they team up to broadcast a nationally televised Major League Baseball (MLB) game for the network next week. The sports giant's first all-woman broadcast team will take the stage September 29 for a game that has yet to be determined by the network, CNN Business first reported. Newman and Mendoza previously made history in separate broadcasts. Newman joined the league’s first all-female broadcast crew for a game on YouTube in July while Mendoza, who has been with ESPN since 2007, called a nationally televised playoff game in 2015, according to the network.  "Honestly, each earmark is just another page," Newman told CNN Business. "I feel fortunate to be the one handed this chance, it's our responsibility until there are no more firsts and it's just an even playing field of all-qualified professionals who happen to look different." Mendoza, a two-time Olympic medalist, underscored the importance of diverse voices, saying "it is important to have more people represent the game of baseball." "For young girls, women and Latinas, to...

But while Winour expects to see 'a lot of independence and individuality' on the red carpet, she acknowledged that some things will be different this year in an interview with Good Morning America. In addition to limiting the guest list to a 'tighter group' than in past years, the gala has announced that all guests will be required to show proof of vaccination — to follow New York City's protocols — and wear masks inside except when eating and drinking. The Met Gala will be held tonight after being canceled in 2020 — and bumped this year from its usual date in May Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour spoke about the event, saying she is looking...

Vogue Magazine declared Dr. Jill Biden a "First Lady for all of us" and a "joy multiplier" in its August cover story, which was released on Tuesday. Author Jonathan Van Meter followed Biden, a community college professor, on the road as she met with students across the country, observing that, "in all the places she goes lately she is honored as a woman with several degrees who has worked really hard her whole life at the most relatable job there is." "Which is not to say that Dr. Biden, who is constitutionally shy, doesn’t take special delight in these visits. She becomes looser, goofier, and more expansive," Van Meter wrote. "You generally hear her before you see her because she is often laughing. She is, quite simply, a joy multiplier."  ABC's "Good Morning America" dedicated a segment to Biden's new magazine story, pulling out quotes from the piece from both the First Lady and President Biden describing how they long to find more time for one another during their busy schedules. Southwest Airlines begins resuming flight operations after data issues grounded planes Trump Jr. slams incompetent Fauci, claims hes not a scientist The WNBA typically doesn't have an All-Star Game during Olympic years, but that's changing this summer. On Monday, the league announced details for the 2021 WNBA All-Star Game, which will take place in Las Vegas on July 14 and feature a unique Team USA vs. Team WNBA format.  © Provided by CBS Sports For the first 14 editions of the event, the WNBA used a typical East vs. West format. As conferences lost importance, they then moved to a player captain's model, which was used in both 2018 and 2019. (There wasn't a game last season because of the pandemic.) Now, they're switching things up again.  Team USA will obviously just be the players that are selected to compete for the national team at the Olympics in Tokyo later this summer. That roster is yet to be determined. Team WNBA, meanwhile, will be chosen by a multi-step process. First, there will be the typical All-Star voting from fans,...

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey addresses students during a town hall at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi, India, November 12, 2018.Anushree Fadnavis | Reuters Twitter on Monday launched Spaces, a feature that allows users to join virtual rooms where they can engage in real-time, audio conversations with others. The company began testing Spaces in November 2020 with a limited number of users. But on Monday, it will begin rolling the feature out globally to iOS and Android Twitter users who have 600 or more followers. Spaces is one of the early entrants in a fast-growing market for live, audio-only conversations. This technology gained attention last year by Clubhouse, a start-up that quickly gained popularity among venture capitalists. Facebook last month also announced its plans to create this type of feature for its own services, and Spotify recently bought Betty Labs, which makes a live-audio app focused on sports. Spaces will play a key role in Twitter's ambitious goal to grow its daily active user base to 315 million by the end of 2023. Here's how Spaces will work: Twitter...

The inimitable Aashiq Abu is turning out to be one of the finest story-tellers in Malayalam cinema, and I do hope that his present form continues its golden touch for many more years to come. A director with a sense of rebellion and non-chalance to stick to a genre, Aashiq Abu is been winning some rave reviews for his last couple of films like Mayanadhi and Virus. He is also backing some very promising filmmakers in Malayalam cinema that ended up in giving us masterful films like Maheshinte Prathikaaram (Dileesh Pothan), Ee.Ma.Yau (Lijo Jose Pellissery), Halal Love Story (Zakariya Mohammed) et al. Halal Love Story Movie Review: Funny and Emotionally Stirring, Indrajith Sukumaran and Grace Antony’s Film Is a Winner! The former assistant to director Kamal, Aashiq Abu, who is married to actress Rima Kallingal, has directed nine feature-length films, as well as segments in anthologies like Anchu Sundarikal and the recent Aanum Pennum. Of course, not all of them are great, but there are some amazing gems in his filmography. On the occasion of the director’s 43rd birthday, we look at all...
Nvidia is launching its latency-reducing tech, Reflex, for anyone who has a Nvidia graphics card and plays the PC version of Overwatch. The company tested the feature in Overwatch’s PTR servers in March, but now Reflex is live and theoretically available for competitive play. Nvidia claims Reflex reduces the time between pulling the trigger in Overwatch and the game rendering the shot on screen by as much as 50 percent, and now you can easily test that. Latency can be caused by a variety of things (internet speed can be a big factor in competitive play) but Reflex is focused on reducing latency caused by computer hardware. The longer the delay between a click and the game reacting, the better chance whatever the player was responding to is already out of frame. In this case, Nvidia’s tech isn’t new, and Overwatch is just the latest esports title to be fully added to the small collection of 15 games that support Reflex so far. I can’t say how well the feature might actually work without trying it, but if Nvidia’s...
