On May 1, 2019, The New York Times ran a story in which Rudy Giuliani described a vast conspiracy in Ukraine involving Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The story was so ridiculous, that it was later learned that before peddling it to the Times, Giuliani tried—and failed—to get the smear on Fox News.  It took exactly zero days for Donald Trump to jump onboard and begin retweeting Giuliani’s claims that Biden was “entangled in a Ukrainian corruption scandal.” It took less than two weeks before Bloomberg conducted a cursory investigation and discovered that Giuliani’s star witness admitted that he had manufactured his part of the story to please Trump and Giuliani. It took just a few days after that for Daily Kos to produce a timeline of Giuliani’s activities in Ukraine, showing that everything he had sold to the Times was an absolute crock.  All of this came two months before Trump made his July 25 phone call to the Ukrainian president in which he tried to extort an allied nation into interfering with a U.S. election and ended up getting himself impeached. But that...
The Georgia prosecutor heading the probe into whether President Donald Trump broke the law by trying to overturn the election in the state says it will go beyond the president's infamous phone call where he demanded officials 'find' votes that would make him the winner. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis spoke about the scope of her office's probe Thursday night as impeachment managers completed their case against Trump, which referenced the phone call. 'The investigation seems that it will go past just this one phone call that we've discussed,' Willis told MSNBC.  Willis indicated her office was unlikely to seek to depose former President Donald Trump, who made the call to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger where he demanded he 'find 11,780 votes.' Raffensperger spoke on “Good Morning America” after a leaked phone call published by The Washington Post showed the president asking Raffensperger “to find” the necessary votes to give Trump a recount win. Raffensperger pushed back on Trump’s claims, which included repeating baseless claims regarding mass voter fraud, during the phone call. “George, for the last two months we’ve been fighting a rumor whack-a-mole,” Raffensperger told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “And it was pretty obvious very early on that we debunked every one of those theories that’s been out there, but that President Trump continues to believe them.” WATCH: “We believe that truth matters,” he continued. “We continue to fight to get our message out, but it’s fighting a rumor whack-a-mole daily.” (RELATED: Fox News’ Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade Shoot Down Trump’s Mass Voter Fraud Allegations, Confirm There’s ‘No Proof Of It’) Raffensperger continued on to say he did not feel pressured after Trump told...
Uber is killing the old-school tool it introduced to help older New Yorkers get food delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Just six months after introducing the 1-833-USE-UBER hotline — which allows tech-averse users to book rides from Uber’s platforms — the service is being discontinued at the end of this year, The Post has learned. It turns out that not even the coronavirus has been able to get people to pick up the phone anymore, with the number of people using the service in New York, Florida and Arizona declining over the past few months. The hotline currently receives just a few hundred calls each month. “After thoughtful consideration, we’ve made the decision to stop the 1-833-USE-UBER pilot program we launched earlier this year starting January 1,” Uber spokesperson Harry Hartfield said. The company had initially billed the service as a tool for older customers to access delivery safely “through the warmth of a live conversation.” Users were able to call the number and tell an Uber worker what kind of food they wanted, and...

Trump spoke at a rally on Monday in Arizona where he called himself the 'greatest fundraiser in history' and said he could raise a billion dollars through bribery. The President name-checked ExxonMobil, saying he could hypothetically ask them for $25million in exchange for 'permits' if he wanted to.  He said: 'All I have to do is call up the head of every Wall Street firm, the head of every major company, the head of every major energy company. (CNN)Moments before Donald Trump signed an executive order seeking to limit social media companies' ability to fact-check him, the President grasped for a comparison to justify the move."Imagine if your local phone companies tried to edit or censor what you said. Social media companies have far more power," Trump said. THE POINT -- NOW ON YOUTUBE! In each episode of his weekly YouTube show, Chris Cillizza will delve a little deeper into the surreal world of politics. Click to subscribe! Think about it for one second and, maybe, the comparison makes some sense. Think about it any longer and you can immediately see this isn't even an apples-and-oranges comparison. It's more like an apples-and-spaceships comparison. Because the comparison makes absolutely no sense. To explain exactly how and why, let's take Trump up on his premise. Let's say that a local telecommunications company did censor or edit a conversation you were having over the phone with a friend. What that would mean is that your friend would not get the exact message you were seeking to send. They would...
