This is the extraordinary moment a crocodile carries the intact body of a four-year-old boy to rescuers a mile away from where he drowned in a river in Indonesia. The boy – named locally as Muhammad Ziyad Wijaya – had gone missing two days before near the Jawa Estuary in the province of East Kalimantan.  Startling footage from the Mahakam River in Borneo shows the giant croc swimming through the water carrying the youngster on its back. Baffled fishermen spotted the 10-foot-long reptile as it swam nearly 700 feet across the estuary bay towards a boat. The New York State Nurses Association said 98% of nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center voted in favor of the contracts. They include raises totaling 19% over three years, commitments to hire more nurses and new provisions to enforce promised staffing levels — including potential fines that would be paid to the nurses if the hospitals fall short, according to the union. “Although it will take time for nurses and patients to fully implement this victory on the hospital floors, change begins now,” NYSNA President Nancy Hagans said in a statement Tuesday.
Paris Hilton shocked her fans and followers on Tuesday night when she revealed that she had welcomed her first child via surrogate. Isaiah Hartenstein heard the word from his coach so many times it stuck in his brain on the final possession. Verticality. It’s hands up on a contest, arms raised vertical, preventing the shot without fouling. And on Tuesday night, Hartenstein did Tom Thibodeau proud. “Thibs screams it all the time, ‘Verticality. Verticality,’” Hartenstein said. “So that was going through my head, just being vertical. No matter what he does, try to dunk it. Be vertical. If he tries to do what he did, tries to get a foul. My main thing was being vertical.” Hartenstein’s defense stopped Donovan Mitchell’s drive in the final seconds of the Knicks’ 105-103 victory, providing the backup center a highlight to counter much of his struggles this season. It was especially noteworthy because the opponent was Mitchell, the All-Star who the Knicks tried and failed to acquire in the offseason via trade. Mitchell’s presence was a reminder to fans of what the Knicks missed. And he was shoving it in their faces while leading a fourth-quarter comeback at MSG. But the hero wasn’t Mitchell. It...
American Idol/YouTube Two "American Idol" stars are joining forces! With 20 seasons under its belt, “American Idol” has started the careers of many of music’s biggest names. Many hope to achieve the level of success seen by those like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson, while others just hope to release and play music for as long as they are able. This Friday, January 27, two “Idol” alumni are teaming up with a new release. Season 11’s seventh-place finisher Colton Dixon is featuring season 16’s third-place finisher, Gabby Barrett, on a new release of his single, “Build a Boat”, which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs and Christian AC Airplay charts back in November 2022. The pair have shared a snippet of the new release to their Instagram pages before the single comes out in full this Friday, and fans can’t wait to hear the new duet in full. Getty San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans looks on during a playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. Less than one month after the season ended for the Denver Broncos, they’ve been searching for their next head coach that can get them back to the successful franchise that they’re known for. After searching high and low, it’s seems that the Broncos are down to two finalists. According to Pro Football Talk, the Broncos are expected to make a decision as soon as January 25 between San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and former Stanford head coach David Shaw. Ryans impressed the Broncos’ searching committee in his interview, but he can’t be hired until after the 49ers’ season comes to an end. San Francisco will play in the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles on January 29. Shaw on the other hand can be hired at any time.Ryans Could be the New Favorite in the ClubhouseWhile many thought that the Broncos were swinging for the fences for former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and Michigan head...
Getty Joel Embiid #21, Philadelphia 76ers, Kevin Durant #7, Brooklyn Nets With the Philadelphia 76ers slated to take on the Brooklyn Nets on January 25, Brooklyn Nets personnel were asked about the rivalry between the two Atlantic Division foes. However, Kevin Durant had an alternative take when asked about the Sixers’ rivalry with the Nets. “Rivalries in the NBA are not really a thing, in my opinion,” he told reporters, per The Boston Herald. “It’s going to be a battle amongst each fan base on social media, but as far as the players, it’s another game on the schedule, and each team is trying to get better and improve.” Whether a rivalry exists between the two sides or not, at 30-16, the Sixers are one game ahead of the Nets, who are 29-17, in the Eastern Conference standings. The winner of the game will either have the two teams tie with the same record, or the Sixers will get a two-game lead on the Nets in the standings. Durant is not expected to play after injuring his MCL....
Getty Derion Kendrick and Cobie Durant celebrate an interception on December 25, 2022. As the Los Angeles Rams aim to figure out who stays or goes with the 2023 free agency cycle set to begin in seven weeks, they do have a young talent to get excited about for the future — who was named an “early breakout candidate” for 2023. Pro Football Focus unveiled its lists of potential breakout candidates on each team for 2023 on Tuesday, January 24. And the Rams’ selection? Their $4.1 million rookie cornerback Cobie Durant. “It was a rough season for the Rams, with injuries taking out almost every player of consequence, but rookie fourth-rounder Cobie Durant flashed some potential in limited snaps,” wrote PFF’s Sam Monson. “Durant had three interceptions and two pass breakups from 25 targets, allowing a 76.3 passer rating into his coverage.” It’s the first stat Monson mentions that got the 2022 rookie to lead the Rams in that category. And that includes the two he snatched on Christmas Day versus the Denver Broncos. Durant & Rams...
Getty DeMeco Ryans looks to the sidelines on January 22, 2023 in Santa Clara. As his name continues to swirl as a head coaching candidate for 2023, DeMeco Ryans has an advantage this week: No distractions and more time for the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator to prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles during NFC Championship game week. Why? An NFL rule is helping prevent Ryans from being contacted for more head coaching interviews during the conference title week. First noted by ESPN 49ers reporter Nick Wagoner on Tuesday, January 24, Ryans benefits from an NFL rule involving future interviews for the rest of the week. “Per league rules, no head coach interviews can take place for 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans (or any assistant still coaching) this week,” Wagoner stated. “Ryans eligible for second interviews beginning on January 30 but must be completed by February 5 if Niners advance to Super Bowl.” Moreover, Ryans was contacted by a team this week — but league rules prevents that team from conducting an interview this week. “Additionally, to clear...
And so Rupert Murdoch’s twilight as a media mogul begins. And the future succession after he goes is cast into doubt. Murdoch, the man who until now always got what he wanted, has been told firmly he can’t have what he wanted. And buckled. What he wanted—very badly—was to make whole again the global empire that he had built up over sixty years and that he was forced to break up a decade ago. But he failed to persuade the major investors and stockholders in the two halves of the business, Fox Corp and News Corp, to bend to his will and approve a merger. The announcement Tuesday that he had capitulated is a highly significant reversal. As I reported when the deal was proposed, it was hard to find anyone who thought the merger made sense. That was because it was basically a vanity exercise, not a rational business plan. At the age of 91, Murdoch wanted it so that he could consolidate all the family businesses under him and then hand them over to his chosen successor, his...

The Supreme Court has held off consideration of two major cases involving laws in Texas and Florida meant to penalize Big Tech for censorship, a decision that means the laws will remain blocked for longer. The court announced Monday that it was delaying its consideration of Moody v. NetChoice and NetChoice v. Paxton and seeking the solicitor general's input on the matter. These two lawsuits deal specifically with Florida and Texas passing laws that would penalize social media companies for their handling of speech on platforms. The delay means that the laws will likely be suspended by lower courts until 2024. Three teenagers who badly battered Fox News weatherman Adam Klotz on the New York City subway have been released without charges.  Social media users were up in arms today after discovering the suspects will not face criminal investigation with one woman asking: 'how can anyone feel safe in the city?' The handling of the case will no doubt add fuel to criticism of Manhattan's District Attorney Alvin Bragg who has frequently been accused of being too 'woke' and soft on crime since he took on the role in November 2021.  Klotz was left with a black eye and bruised ribs after he intercepted a group of teenagers on the subway at around 1.15am on Sunday morning who were said to be harassing an older man.

Anthony Joshua will make his highly-anticipated return to the ring in April after suffering his second-successive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in August 2022 - having previously lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts to the Ukrainian in September 2021. Joshua is in desperate need of a win - with his last victory taking place over two years ago when he faced Kubrat Pulev in December 2020.  So, the question at the forefront of everyone's mind is who will AJ face next? Sportsmail exclusively revealed that AJ had agreed terms to fight American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin on April 1 at the O2 Arena. However, boxing fans up and down the nation have been scratching their heads as to why he chose Franklin.  Franklin remains relatively unknown in the heavyweight division despite going toe-to-toe with Dillian Whyte in November 2022. The American boxer stepped into the ring with a professional record of 21 wins, 0 loses and 0 draws. He had also knocked out 14 of his 21 opponents. However, it was Whyte who emerged victorious from their bout - winning via a majority decision after their 12-round contest at Wembley Arena.  So,...
The Mets no longer have a backlog at the backstop with James McCann having been traded to the Baltimore Orioles, but they do have two catchers under contract for the next two years. What does that mean for top prospect Francisco Alvarez? Let’s break down the Mets’ catching situation for 2023 and 2024. The Mets signed Omar Narvaez to a one-year contract with a player option for 2024 in December, worth $15 million guaranteed. An All-Star in 2021 with the Milwaukee Brewers, the 30-year-old Venezuelan is a decent hitter and hits from the left side, so the Mets can split his starts with Tomas Nido. Nido signed a two-year, $3.7 million contract last week. This takes him through his last two arbitration years and provides the club with an affordable catcher at a fixed cost. The 28-year-old Puerto Rican is a good hitter from the right side but his defense and framing have become his calling cards. Defensive metrics show Nido is an excellent framer, something he learned from former Mets’ catcher Travis d’Arnaud, and he has a great relationship...

On a night where Patrick Mahomes was hobbled and the Kansas City Chiefs were without their normal Superman, they showcased championship heart. What is a team without its leading man? What does it have within when the moment is met with terrific adversity? On Saturday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs showed us who they are. With 2:29 remaining in the first quarter, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was hit and landed on by Jacksonville Jaguars edge rusher Arden Key. Mahomes’ right ankle was torqued under the weight, his knee bending awkwardly with it. For the entire second quarter, the Chiefs were without their superhero as he was taped up and underwent an x-ray. It was the most revealing moment on a day when they had many. Pinned at their own 2-yard line and holding a slim 10-7 lead, backup quarterback Chad Henne emerged from the sideline. He was about to take his first meaningful snap since two years ago in, ironically enough, a Divisional round matchup when Mahomes was injured against the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs won that day,...

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC is reportedly set to retire at the end of the season. The AC Milan star, 41, has been recovering from a knee operation since last summer. 1Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to retire in the summerCredit: Reuters He is hoping to return for the Italian side's Champions League last-16 tie with Tottenham. But he is expected to miss the first leg on February 14, while it remains unclear whether he will be available for the return fixture in London on March 8. Now a report from Gazzetta dello Sport has stated that Ibrahimovic is set to hang up his boots in the summer. He will then assume an ambassadorial role with Milan - who he has thrived with across two spells. Back in September, when he was sidelined indefinitely with the anterior cruciate ligament injury, Ibrahimovic ruled out any form of end to his 24-year playing career. He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I am arrogant, zero fear. I’m well, I’m working every day to come back. "You will surely see it. When I come back, I will be heard, you...
The Ravens’ 2022 draft was certainly memorable. It not only featured the team’s first top-15 pick in six years and a whopping six fourth-round selections, but a surprising trade of a star receiver on opening night. Similar to the Ravens’ 10-8 season that ended with an AFC wild-card-round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the 11-player class yielded mixed results. While safety Kyle Hamilton and center Tyler Linderbaum made an immediate impact and provided hope for the future, outside linebacker David Ojabo, tight end Charlie Kolar and cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis missed most of the season because of injuries. As Ravens officials prepare for this April’s draft, the team’s rookies are due for an evaluation. Here’s a look at how the Ravens’ 11 picks fared and how they might fit in (or not) on next season’s team. Likely starters S Kyle Hamilton (1st round, 14th overall) Stats: 16 games (four starts), two sacks, 55 tackles (four for loss), five quarterback hits, five pass deflections, one forced fumble and two penalties; graded out as the Pro Football Focus’ highest-rated safety (No. 5 in...
Joe Biden and Donald Trump aren’t two peas in a pod—but Biden’s failure to secure classified documents is another reminder that he and Trump have more in common than just their advanced ages. And the similarities don’t end there. We have long known about Trump’s nepotistic and (quite likely) illegal family dynamic. But as House Republicans prepare to ramp up investigations of Biden, mainstream media news items are shedding new light on how the “Biden crime family” keep cashing in on the family name. According to a new CNN report, “A year after Biden was elected… his youngest brother, Frank Biden, boasted in a speech to medical professionals gathered in Boston of the ‘bully pulpit’ he was afforded due to ‘my brother Joey,’ and vowed to help attendees ‘get federal dollars.’” CNN reports that in the summer of 2021, Frank spoke to a health technology company called BioSig Technologies where he boasted about “the bully pulpit that I have as a result of the privilege of being associated with my brother Joey.” He also vowed to “do everything in...

Getty Jonathan Isaac of the Orlando Magic, who will make his return to the court against the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics have won nine games in a row, with their last two wins coming in last-minute fashion. They took down the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors and now sit at 35-12, 4.5 games up on second place in the Eastern Conference. Now, they will head to Florida to take on the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat. In their first of the two games, against the Magic, they’ll have to face more talent than they bargained for. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Jonathan Isaac is set to return from injury after missing over two years of action. “After missing over two NBA seasons, Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac is expected to make his return and season debut on Monday vs. Boston, source tells @TheAthletic @Stadium,” Charania tweeted. Getty DeMar DeRozan #11 of the Chicago Bulls reacts to game action. Five games in seven nights. That is what is immediately in front of the Chicago Bulls (21-24) who return from a trip to Paris, France one win better than when they departed one week ago. It’s quite the shifting of gears that is going to take a renewed mindset. The Bulls got a feel-good win on the way out of the US, too, knocking off the Golden State Warriors 132-118 before trouncing the Detroit Pistons 126-108 across the pond. But, before that, they endured a three-game skid that followed an identical-length win streak. They need to ensure they are locked in over the next week in what could be a season-defining stretch with the Bulls still hanging around in a muddled Eastern Conference. If they are going to get and stay locked in, it’s going to have to start at the top and veteran DeMar DeRozan is taking it upon himself to relay the message.DeMar DeRozan: Every Bulls Game ‘Do-or-Die’“‘This is the time’,’’ DeRozan says he...
by Jeff Poor   Although he has been in office for only a few days, Secretary of State Wes Allen has some legislative priorities in mind for the 2023 session. During an appearance on Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5 on Thursday, Allen said he hoped to pick on two efforts from a year earlier dealing with paper ballots and the connectivity of voting machines. “There were a couple of bills last year that we ran out of time on, that we didn’t get to during the last regular session in 2022,” he said. “And two of those, State Senator Clyde Chambliss had. And I think we’ll approach again, and we’ll get behind. Number one is that we’ll always have paper ballots in Alabama. We want to put that in the state statute. It’s in the administrative code now, but we want to make sure we strengthen that and want to make sure we always have paper ballots because it is receipts, basically. And you can go back and check if something looks funny. Always have paper ballots – that’s...

Cristiano Ronaldo's competitive debut for Al-Nassr ended in victory but no goals for the Portuguese as his new side beat Ettifaq 1-0 in the Saudi Pro League. The 37-year-old joined Al-Nassr last month on a reported £175million-a-year contract until 2025. That came after the former Juventus and Real Madrid forward's existing deal with Manchester United was cancelled in the aftermath of a high-profile interview in which he was critical of the club and officials. Getty The pressure is on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to get Dak Prescott more help. The Dallas Cowboys offense sputtered against the San Francisco 49ers with Dak Prescott throwing two costly interceptions during the team’s elimination loss. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted that Prescott’s two turnovers played was a critical factor in the team’s loss. “Jerry Jones keeps repeating he’s ‘sick’ about Cowboys loss,” Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein tweeted on January 22, 2023 “’Frankly, turnovers do settle the score with games like that. I’m so disappointed for our fans. We’ve got a locker room full of sick players.’” It marks the second straight playoffs that Prescott’s play is being called into question. The Niners ended the Cowboys season during the last postseason after Prescott failed to clock the ball after a quarterback scramble. It was not just Prescott’s interceptions, but the offense’s inability to score more than one touchdown that contributed greatly to the loss. The Cowboys Have Repeatedly Backed Prescott as the Long-Term QB1 Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy also noted that the Cowboys turnovers proved...
The future of Delmonico's, the oldest steakhouse in the country which had been in operation since 1837 until the pandemic, appears to be at stake. The 186-year-old restaurant, set in the Financial District, also serves as the exterior shots for The Continental Hotel in the John Wick series of films and has been closed for nearly three years. However there's currently a dispute with two parties now claiming to have the right to reopen the restaurant set in the Financial District. The Continental is John Wick's most iconic location: a hotel for assassins where they can drink scotch, make eyes at other assassins while they take care of 'business' in the heart of the Financial District. One of Manhattan's oldest restaurants, Delmonico's, is in the process of returning to the Financial District after being closed for nearly three years When it was open the restaurant was famous for its innovative American dishes including eggs benedict, Manhattan clam chowder and the famous Delmonico ribeye steak, pictured above When it was open the restaurant was famous for its innovative American dishes including...
