The alleged girlfriend of the man suspected of murdering and dismembering Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen has pleaded guilty to her involvement in the crime.  Cecily Aguilar, 22, waived her right to a trial on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a single count of accessory to murder and three counts of making false statements.  She was the only person charged in connection to Guillen's murder, after police said the 20-year-old saw a photo of Aguliar, a married woman, on Aaron Robinson's phone, prompting the army specialist to bludgeon her to death and burying her remains.  Robinson died as cops moved to arrest him, with his death reported as a suicide.  Natalie Khawam, the Guillen family's attorney, said the guilty plea was 'another step on the long path toward justice for Vanessa, my client, and her courageous family.'  I will never stop fighting for my clients and will continue to seek and demand justice for victims and their families until it's achieved.'   Aguilar is facing a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, along with a $1 million fine and a...
An American tourist suspected of exaggerating the value of his Hublot watch, stolen by muggers in Barcelona, in a bid to swindle the insurance firm is being investigated over $1.6 million in suspicious bank transfers shortly before his private jet company went bankrupt.  Seth Bernstein, 46, from Florida, was on vacation in the Spanish city with his wife and children when he was mugged on June 2. Surveillance camera footage released by the Spanish police shows the gang setting on Bernstein from behind and ripping the watch from his wrist, as four of his five children looked on. Spanish police said that Bernstein told them his watch was worth $800,000, but the Swiss watch company said it was valued at $45,000. Bernstein told DailyMail.com he had no idea how much it cost, but said $80,000 to give the police a ballpark figure. On Thursday it emerged that Bernstein was being investigated by the trustee overseeing the August 2020 bankruptcy of his charter jet company, JetReady. Bernstein and his wife Marie at a 2018 charity gala. He says the stolen watch...
A woman who has accused Bill Cosby, 84, of sexually assaulting her at the Playboy Mansion in the 1970s, said she and a friend met the comedian when they spotted him shooting a movie at a park. Judy Huth, then 16, and friend, Donna Samuelson, then 17, walked closer to the filming of 'Let's Do It Again', when Cosby approached the girls and 'bantered' with them before inviting pair to meet him the following Saturday at a tennis club. She and Samuelson said they were 'excited'. 'We were kids. It was a celebrity. It was out of the norm, that's for sure,' she said. Huth, now 62, has filed a civil lawsuit against Cosby for unspecified damages, claiming he tried to put his hand down her pants, exposed himself, and forced her to touch him sexually while in a bedroom inside the Playboy Mansion. Her testimony began after Cosby's defense team employed the 'Donkey Kong defense' in response to Samuelson's claim of playing the game at the mansion in 1975 - six years before its release. The 'Donkey Kong defense'...
OAKLEY — A former police chief who left the department under a cloud of mystery barely one year on the job was fired after an outside investigator found evidence of persistent sexual harassment, including a relationship with a subordinate whom he allegedly pressured for months until she eventually agreed to have sex with him, according to newly released documents. The investigation — commissioned by the city and obtained by this news organization through a public records act request — paint a picture of a municipal workplace rife with sexual innuendo and rumors of affairs between top city officials and subordinates. The two women who provided statements to investigators said Police Chief Dean Capelletti’s harassment began just weeks after he joined the department, and included unwanted touching, sexual remarks, and lewd behavior. Capelletti was placed on administrative leave last September — just one year into his tenure — after the women came forward. He was fired two months later, in November, the records say. One of the women said Capelletti reached under her skirt and groped her at work and that...

Mitch McConnell suggested on Wednesday that President Joe Biden lied about the advice he received from his top military brass – despite the White House balking at General Mark Milley's claim that he did recommend leaving some sort of troop presence in Afghanistan. 'These top generals gave President Biden exactly the advice the President told the American people he had not received,' McConnell said from the Senate floor. 'To be very clear, Mr. President, the Commander-in-Chief gets to make the final decisions, no matter what his advisors suggest. But he needs to own his decision.' The Senate Minority leader added: 'The President publicly misstating what advice he got from his top generals is corrosive to the civil-military dynamic that keeps America safe. 'The military did their job,' he said. 'They gave their best military advice. It was rejected.' 'So they saluted and executed the order of the Commander-in-Chief. But having rejected their advice, the President doesn't get to claim he never received it.' Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday that Biden lied when he said that his top...
