California State Assemblyman Randy Voepel is said to be the grandfather of the man alleged to be behind the mass-shooting at a Colorado gay bar this weekend, Anderson Lee Aldrich The grandfather of the man alleged to be behind the mass-shooting at a Colorado gay bar this weekend is believed to be a MAGA Republican lawmaker who praised the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol last year.   Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, is accused of killing five people and injuring 25 more at Club Q. Posts on social media posts made under Aldrich's mother's name, Laura Voepel, have linked him to former Republican California state assembly member Randy Voepel - claiming he is his grandfather, reports The Guardian. Following the attack on the Capitol, Voepel hailed the rioters comparing their actions to that of American Revolutionaries.  'This is Lexington and Concord. First shots fired against tyranny. Tyranny will follow in the aftermath of the Biden swear in on January 20th,' Voepel said. Republicans took an early scalp in the midterms as Guam voted for its first GOP delegate to Congress since 1993. Republican Sen. James Moylan defeated Democrat former Speaker Judi Won Pat in the delegate race in the U.S. territory in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Pacific Daily News reported.  Moylan earned 52.19 per cent of the votes counted to Won Pat’s 47.15 per cent. Guam's delegate to Congress is non-voting, and Moylan will be only the second Republican sent to Washington D.C. by the island since it was created in 1972. In other races the island's Democratic governor held on by 11 points and Democrats gained a seat in the legislature. Guam is 'where America's Day Begins', and is 11 hours ahead of Eastern Time. President Joe Biden, who had been sounding an optimistic note about the midterms, finally conceded Monday night that it'll be 'tougher' for his party to win the House as polls point to a Republican victory. Biden's comments come as his approval rating dropped down to 39%. His low numbers and fears of a red wave coming out of Tuesday's election has some in the Democratic Party calling for a 'next generation candidate' to run for the White House in 2024. 'I think we'll win the Senate. I think the House is tougher,' the president told reporters at the White House after he returned from his final campaign rally, where he pleaded with voters to send more Democrats to Congress. Asked what the reality of governing will be like if Republicans win, he responded: 'More difficult.'  Biden faces a difficult two years in office should the GOP emerge victorious on Tuesday as Republicans have vowed to stymie Biden's legislative agenda and investigate his presidency.  Election forecasters have the GOP winning the House. But the Senate, where any one race can flip the...

Lewis Hamilton conjured images of comfortable Sunday afternoons with the grandparents ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix this weekend, albeit unintentionally.  The fashion conscious Formula One ace bore a striking resemblance to a knitted tea cosy courtesy of his designer balaclava as he surveyed the track at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.  Decorated with a distinctive daisy pattern, his headgear - through which only Hamilton's eyes and nose were visible - inevitably caught the eye during the brief outing.  Don't mind me: Lewis Hamilton conjured images of comfortable Sunday afternoons with the grandparents ahead of the Belgium Grand Prix this weekend, albeit unintentionally Lewis added to his look with a colour coordinated ensemble, this time opting for a thick purple cardigan, long sleeved top and generously cut cargo pants.  Rounding off the garish look, Lewis sported a pair of rather outlandish white trainers with deep, oversized soles as he prepared for a practice run.  RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Megan Gale ensures all eyes are on her at the Sydney... China fired its most direct warning shot yet amid reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may visit Taiwan on Friday, saying that if the speaker's plane is accompanied by U.S. fighter jets, they would not rule out shooting them down. 'If US fighter jets escort Pelosi's plane into Taiwan, it is invasion. The PLA has the right to forcibly dispel Pelosi's plane and the US fighter jets, including firing warning shots and making tactical movement of obstruction. If ineffective, then shoot them down,' Hu Xijin, a commentator with the Chinese state-affiliated Global Times, wrote on Twitter.   Earlier China warned the U.S. against crossing a 'red line' as it released not-so-subtle warnings against the speaker, which China has reasoned is number three in line in U.S. government, from visiting Taiwan.  The U.S. must be prepared to 'bear all consequences' if Pelosi chooses to visit Taiwan, Chinese foreign minister Zhao Lijian said in a briefing Friday.  National Security Spokesman John Kirby said Friday the Pentagon has seen no indication of a military threat.  'We just don't have any concrete indications of something...
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's motorcade has been busted for multiple speeding and traffic offenses - despite the lawmaker pushing for harsher punishments for drivers who go too fast.   Lightfoot's SUVs have since February 2020 been involved in at least eight incidents, and since May 2021 received three speed camera tickets and two warnings, plus a red light ticket. None of the fines - now totaling $658 - have been paid, CWB Chicago reported. Footage first uncovered by CWB shows multiple incidents involving the cars. In one clip, two Ford Expedition SUVs race through a set of red lights, with traffic camera seen flashing in their wake. In another, a black Chevy SUV can be seen making a left turn at a red light at a large intersection. It is unclear if Lightfoot was in the SUVs at the time, although she won't have been driving them in either instance.  The revelations come as Lightfoot, who took over in May 2019, continues to push to lower the 'buffer zone' threshold that speed cameras allow before issuing a citation. Lori Lightfoot is seen...

Ever since I was a girl, I’ve been obsessed with Gwen Stefani—yes, she even taught me how to spell the word ‘bananas.’ If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know if I’d know how to spell it to this day. Aside from her epic songs, Stefani has a signature beauty style: vibrant bombshell blonde hair and a bright red lip, so it was only natural for her to launch her own beauty line. Stefani debuted GXVE Beauty in March, allowing fans to shop the superstar's most iconic eyeliners, eyeshadows, and lipsticks. While I was excited about all of the products, I was most interested in reviewing the GXVE lipstick range. When it comes to lipsticks, I’m a fan of creamy and pigmented formulas. While the collection has various red hues, I’m more of a fan of nude and pink-ish shades, which I was able to get my hands on during the brand’s recent drop. See below for my honest thoughts. Sen. Bernie Sanders played defense of President Joe Biden's agenda when he squared off with Sen. Lindsey Graham in a wide-ranging debate aired on Fox Nation Monday.  'Inflation is not just Joe Biden's issue,' Sanders said, as Graham blamed Democrats' $1.9 trillion stimulus bill passed last year, the American Rescue Plan.  'You have to explain why it takes place around the world and that has to do with supply chain, the terrible war in Ukraine, and in my view, corporate greed,' Sanders, D-Vt., claimed during the fiery debate at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Massachusetts. Graham, meanwhile, blamed Democratic policies for what he called an 'inflationary death spiral.'  'The American Rescue Plan - according to Larry Summers, not Lindsey Graham -  was ill-conceived and ill-designed and would do more to spark inflation than any policy in last several decades,' the South Carolina Republican said, invoking Obama-era economic advisor and Clinton-era Treasury Sec. Larry Summers.  Inflation is now running at 8.6 percent as of May, the highest rate in over 40 years.   He then blamed Sanders and other Democrats for...

ONLY 12 civilians made it out of the Azovstal “Alamo” yesterday as Ukraine accused Russia of breaking a ceasefire. Hundreds are holed up along with thousands of defenders at the besieged Mariupol steel plant. 1Russia is continuing to shell the plant in Mariupol, UkraineCredit: AP Russia’s failure to seize it has scotched hopes of a win before Monday’s Victory Day parade in Moscow to mark the end of World War Two. Andriy Biletsky, leading the defence with the elite Azov Battalion, said: “The fighting is continuing, the shelling does not stop. “Every minute of procrastination is the life of civilians, soldiers and the wounded.” At least one soldier died and six others were wounded when Russian forces hit a car with a guided anti-tank weapon. The Azov unit released footage of a bloodied soldier whose arm appears to be broken and burnt. Russia denied reports it was trying to storm the plant and said airstrikes, tank and naval shellings were to stop fighters moving to new positions. Kenosha County in the state of Wisconsin has been captured by the GOP for the first time in decades having been the focal point of Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 which led to $50 million worth of damage and the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hit the campaign trail in Texas this weekend where she told the crowd that the Lone Star State flipping blue is 'inevitable' while endorsing two Democratic candidates there. 'Texas turning blue. Inevitable. Inevitable! It will happen. The only question is when,' the New York progressive representative said on Saturday. 'We are going to fight for a living wage. We're going to make sure we unionize the hell out of this state,' she continued, claiming that their support of Medicare for All, unions and reproductive freedoms all contribute to her backing Ocasio Cortez, 32, said that she feels if the deeply red state of Texas can flip, then the entire country will follow. Texas is the most populous red state, holding 38 Electoral College votes and 36 representatives in the U.S. House. The fourth wave of the pandemic over the summer, fueled by the Delta variant, saw some U.S. states experience their highest rates of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths ever. Health officials - and others in the mainstream media - have said unvaccinated people were responsible for the surge. Some in the mainstream media, such as CNN White House reporter Stephen Collinson in an article published on Tuesday, blamed conservatives in particular.  But are red state residents really to blame? The short answer: Yes, but not entirely. Republicans have been much less likely than Democrats to get vaccinated with the gap only widening as the pandemic has gone on. They are not the only group with stagnating vaccination rates, however. Black Americans have been consistently less likely than whites to receive COVID-19 shots and Caucasians have had higher rates than African-Americans in most states reporting breakdown by race/ethnicity. Several mainstream media outlets have recently said unvaccinated conservatives were responsible for the Delta surge over the summer (above), but a DailyMail.com analysis find that's not entirely the case  Republicans have been less...

CRISTIANO RONALDO has urged Manchester United to ‘recover well’ after their shock defeat to Young Boys. The 36-year-old Portuguese star gave the Red Devils the lead after just 13 minutes in Switzerland on what looked set to be an easy opening night in the Champions League. 2Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence after Man Utd's defeat at Young BoysCredit: AFP But they fell apart following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card for an ankle-high first half challenge. A Texas company tapped to design 3D printed habitat to support NASA's missions to Mars has released an incredible video of its 3D printing in action. ICON - a developer of advanced construction technologies - was awarded a subcontract by the space agency to print Mars Dune Alpha, designed by world-renowned architecture firm BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group for the Johnson Space Center. The Austin-based company, known for delivering the first permitted 3D-printed home in the U.S. in 2018, had released stunning video renderings earlier this week showing what the completed modules would look like. NASA, which hopes to send humans to the Red Planet by 2037, said on Friday it is seeking 'highly motivated individuals' to participate in year-long Mars surface simulation where they will live in the 1,700-square-foot module.  ICON said in a press release that the module will simulate a realistic Mars habitat to support long-duration, exploration-class space missions.  A Texas company tapped to design 3-D printed habitat to support NASA's missions to Mars has released an incredible video of its 3-D printing in action ICON's Vulcan printer is...

The world's first 3D-printed steel footbridge, measuring 40 feet (12 metres) in length, has been installed in Amsterdam.  The bridge, created by a Dutch company called MX3D, has been installed over the Oudezijds Achterburgwal canal in Amsterdam's Red Light District.  More than four years in the making, the S-shaped bridge will act as a 'living laboratory' in the Dutch capital as it handles pedestrian traffic.   Researchers at Imperial College London are involved with assessing the 'performance' of the bridge, which is packed with sensors, as it's being walked on.  Scroll down for video  The bridge was recently just installed in Amsterdam and has been unveiled for public use on Thursday  Sensor data will also be put into a 'digital twin' of the bridge – a computerised version that imitates the real-life physical version. RIP, the United States of America. The country’s name must go, right? I mean, there comes a point where America is so patently DIS-united that it’s no longer appropriate to call itself United. And honestly, I think we’re now reaching that point. I say this with nothing but deep dismay and sadness as someone who loves America and everything it is supposed to represent. But when even July 4 has become a day of ferocious contention, ugly rancor and partisan abuse-hurling, as we’ve just witnessed, then it’s very clear America is standing on the edge of a precipice from which it may never recover unless cooler heads prevail. Independence Day has always been the most unifying moment in the American calendar, celebrating the end of British rule. (Obviously, it’s not quite such a joyous day for we Brits who tend to keep our heads down and quietly curse King George III for being so feckless in letting such a great country and people slip out of our hands.) It’s a day when American families and friends of all color and...
Senators continued haggling over a $1 trillion infrastructure package, with socialist Bernie Sanders laying out red lines on tax and Republican Lindsey Graham telling President Biden a deal was there for the taking. The wrangling illustrates just how hard it will be for President Biden to bring along progressives and conservatives in a bipartisan deal to deliver one of his biggest legislative priorities. Sanders said he would not support using gas taxes or fees on electric vehicles which would not spread the burden fairly - while Graham challenged Biden to get on with agreeing a deal. The Red Cross is issuing an urgent plea for help as it deals with a severe blood shortage, the worst its seen in decades.Whole blood and platelets are at critically low levels and hospitals are reporting a desperate need.Throughout the pandemic, Jeff Werden of San Gabriel never stopped giving blood."I felt there was a great need and that I needed to donate blood more often," Werden said.Despite his efforts and those of other regular donors, blood product providers such as Lifestream in San Bernardino and the American Red Cross are in the precarious position of stretching their supplies as far as they can."It's about as bad as I've ever seen it in over 30 years actually," said Dr. Ross Herron, Divisional Chief Medical Officer of the Red Cross. He said he's had to prioritize which hospitals and patients need blood the most several times over the last few weeks."When it gets below three days, we start to decrease how much blood we're sending out on a regular basis," Herron said. "So if somebody has an order for 100%, we may send...

The court's ruling has sparked fury among Twitter, with users criticising the decision. "It is not a country for women," a Twitter user wrote. An Australian psychologist has warned parents to take note if their children act 'mature for their age', as this can be an indication of external pressure influencing their behavioural choices.  Briony Leo, Psychologist and Head of Coaching at Relationship Self Care app Relish, told Daily Mail Australia a number of factors must be considered first before deeming the maturity level to be a 'red flag'. While high maturity levels can arise from personality traits and birth order, in some cases this can signify a child who might be taking 'excessive responsibility' about practical scenarios.  Children who also grow up too fast may face challenges later in adolescent and adulthood years.   Scroll down for video Briony Leo, Psychologist and Head of Coaching at Relationship Self Care app Relish , told Daily Mail Australia parents to take note if their children act 'mature for their age'  How is it a red flag if children act 'mature for their age?' FOR some people there's no cleaning job too big or too small and they revel in the challenge of sprucing up a filthy sink to get it looking as good as new. One cleaning fan, known for their TikTok account Science Of Cleaning, rose to the challenge when presented with a sink that hadn't been washed in 30 years and was entirely covered in dirt and limescale. 7One cleaning fan tackled a sink that hadn't been washed in 30 yearsCredit: @scienceofcleaning/TikTok The build-up was so extreme that the colour of sink was hardly recognisable and it was in dire need of some much needed TLC. Determined to restore it back to its former glory, one woman donned her latex gloves and grabbed her cleaning products to give it a good scrub. She filmed the entire process in a video she shared online and people were left shocked over the old sink's incredible transformation. The cleaning fan doused the entire sink in budget cleaning cream Astonish that can be picked up for just £1. 7She...
GARY LINEKER joked David Moyes was spotted with a box of matches after the fire alarm went off at the VAR HQ. Alarm bells rang around Stockley Park just minutes before Wolves' Premier League clash with Burnley. 3David Moyes was left raging after West Ham's defeat to ChelseaCredit: Reuters Players went out onto the field unaware of the drama in Hayes but unfortunately for many traditionalists, normal service was restored in time for kick-off. When Lineker told viewers that VAR might not be functioning live on BBC, Danny Murphy joked: "That's not good news, that's phenomenal news." Lineker then quipped: "Rumours that David Moyes was seen outside with a box of matches are grossly exaggerated at this stage." Moyes was left raging on Saturday after Fabian Balbuena was essentially sent off for kicking a ball. The defender lumped the ball upfield but his follow-through caught Ben Chilwell who crashed to the turf in pain. VAR looked at the incident and then advised referee Chris Kavanagh to take a look at the incident himself. Kavanagh then brandished a...
The remains of 120 German soldiers who were killed during fighting to prevent the advance of the Red Army on Berlin at the end of the Second World War have been reburied in a war cemetery. The men died 76 years ago during the fierce Battle of the Seelow Heights, which marked the beginning of the Soviet Union's final push to Berlin after Nazi Germany had been largely defeated. The men who died were hastily buried where they fell, before being discovered and exhumed last year across a 60-mile-wide area. At least a third of the men were identified by their 'dog tags' – the common term given for the identification discs given to all soldiers. The soldiers died during fighting on the River Oder, whilst unsuccessfully trying to stop Russian troops from reaching the German capital. It was where Nazi leader Adolf Hitler was holed up in his bunker before he killed himself on April 30, 1945. The men's remains were packed into 92 small coffins, each of which had a small rose put on it, before they were...
DEAR ABBY: I have been divorced for eight years. After being divorced for a year, I became curious about dating and have been on and off the online dating sites. Jeanne Phillips  I have a rule about not meeting anyone with a status of “separated.” Knowing myself, I knew I needed time to get over my divorce before welcoming someone in my life. A man who listed himself divorced for 3½ years and looking for a relationship was actively contacting me and invited me to look at his photos on Facebook. When I did, I noticed he still had his wedding photo posted. I thought it was odd, so I asked him about it. He said it was 20 years of his life, and he just cannot pretend it didn’t happen. He said I was reading way too much into it. When Major League Baseball relocated the All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver in response to Georgia’s new voting law, Fox News was quick to react. “Is the White House concerned that Major League baseball is moving their All-Star Game to Colorado, where voting regulations are very similar to Georgia?” Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki last week. The network also featured Brian Kemp, governor of Georgia and former secretary of state there, claiming that it was “hypocritical” to move the game to Colorado, which, after all, has only half the number of early voting days and more strenuous ID requirements than those the new Georgia law has enacted. In a Republican National Lawyers Association Q&A this week, Kemp said the battle over the law—which pits Georgia-based companies and voting rights activists against the state’s Republicans—represented the “fight of our lives” against “cancel culture.” All of this misses the point. It is futile to attempt an apples-to-apples comparison of one state’s voting policies to another’s, because there are wide variations in local voting cultures, demographics,...
CHINA’S Martian probe has sent back eerie images of the red planet looming large. Tianwen-1 is currently orbiting Mars – but its rover will soon make a hair-raising descent to the planet’s desert surface. 3China’s Martian probe captured this stunning image of MarsCredit: CNSA While it awaits the perilous journ1ey, the probe has been capturing valuable data about Mars. The vaccine roll-out in Germany has descended into chaos as it emerged that 80-year-olds have to fill in ten forms just to get the jab. Angela Merkel's coalition government is facing increasing criticism over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic with its vaccination programme now faltering. Europe's largest economy appears to be lagging behind with only 10 per cent of it's adult population having received their first dose of the vaccine as of this week.  The UK has administered first doses to 55 per cent of its population and America 25 per cent - Germany does not even make the list of top 20 nations in terms of vaccination rates worldwide. Angela Merkel's coalition government is facing increasing criticism over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic with its vaccination programme now faltering Cardiologist Dr Joachim Wunderlich, who has helped at a vaccination centre in Berlin, told CBS News that the bureaucratic process for people to get vaccinated in Germany was 'unbelievable'.
