Alessandra Ambrosio seems to regain energy when she is on the beach, as reflected in the photos that are usually taken in a bikini. Some things in life are very clear, such as that Alessandra Ambrosio was born to be a model and that above all, she likes to visit the beach with one of her bikinis. As one of the most representative figures of the Victoria’s Secret angels, Alessandra has remained an icon of beauty and style despite taking a while away from the catwalks. Backgrid / The Grosby Group However, it seems that her natural setting is the beach, specifically those in her native Brazil, where she has found inspiration to create a line of swimsuits called Gal Floripa, which of course promotes herself with her figure. Still, it seems that she is not the only one who enjoys showing off her charms; her boyfriend, Richard Lee, has become her main accomplice to take pictures of her at all times. TOKYO (AP) — Even with the pandemic keeping most family at home, Norwegian beach volleyball player Anders Mol has plenty of people in Tokyo to support him. Mol’s father, Kaare, is his coach, and his uncle is at the Olympics as the team’s assistant coach. Mol’s brother and cousin are here as training partners. “It’s kind of a family business we are running,” Kaare Mol said after his son and Christian Sorum beat a Russian team in straight sets to advance to the semifinals. Facing the team it had lost to in the pool stage, the top-seeded pair beat Ilya Leshukov and Konstantin Semenov 21-17, 21-19 on Wednesday. The Norwegians advanced to the semifinals to face Latvia, which eliminated Brazil and 2016 gold medalist Alison in the second match. Qatar was to play Italy and Germany was matched up against a second Russian team on Wednesday night. Mol and Sorum earned the top seed in the Olympics by finishing atop the FIVB’s qualification standings. But to do so, Kaare Mol said, they spent about 250 days a year on the...
TOKYO (AP) — Americans April Ross and Alix Klineman have guaranteed themselves at least one more beach volleyball match at the Tokyo Olympics. U.S. men Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena helped their chances of making the knockout round as well. The U.S. women beat Spain 21-13, 21-16 on Tuesday morning for their second straight win. With one more game in the preliminaries left, they can do no worse than a three-way tie for first, which would be broken during a “lucky loser” matchup after the round robin. Ross, a three-time Olympian who has already won silver and bronze, and first-timer Klineman will play the Dutch team of Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink on Friday. Dalhausser and Lucena improved to 1-1 in the round robin by beating Brazil’s Alison, the reigning gold medalist, and Alvaro Filho, 24-22, 19-21, 15-13. The Americans will meet Argentina on Thursday. Elsewhere in the men’s bracket, Bruno Oscar Schmidt, Alison’s partner for the gold medal win in Rio in 2016, and his new partner Evandro beat Morocco. The Polish team of Michal Bryl...
A drunken man was fatally mutilated by a shark when he went to urinate in the ocean on a popular Brazilian beach. Marcelo Rocha Santos, 51, had been drinking alcohol and enjoying himself with his friends when he decided to enter the water at Piedade beach in the city of Jaboatao dos Guararapes to relieve himself. Moments later, a shark jumped out of the water and attacked him, biting off his arm and a large part of one of his legs, the Independent reported. Even though the water was turbulent, which is indicative of increased shark activity, Santos had ignored all the warning signs and proceeded to enter the ocean, according to the outlet.  Man killed by shark after wading into sea in Brazil https://t.co/B4MWDxzqa5 — The Independent (@Independent) July 15, 2021 At the time of the shark attack, only the victim and another person who was lucky to escape unharmed were in the water. A face mask was discovered inside the stomach of a dead penguin that washed up on a beach in Brazil, according to a local environmental conservation group. The Magellanic penguin was found on Juqueí beach in São Paulo on Sept. 9, the Instituto Argonauta announced in a press release last Tuesday. “This case is unequivocal proof that this type of waste causes harm and mortality also in marine fauna, in addition to the irresponsibility of the person who dispenses a mask in an inappropriate place,” the institute’s president, Hugo Gallo Neto, said in a statement. “We have been working with marine litter for 23 years, always trying to educate and rehabilitate animals that have problems. This is a new threat that unfortunately came with the pandemic,” he said. Days before the discovery, crowds packed the beach to celebrate Brazil’s Independence Day, leaving piles of garbage in their wake, the group said. At least 113 face masks were improperly discarded at São Paulo beaches between April 16 and Sept. 13, according to findings from the organization. The mask inside the...
