Deebo Samuel put jaws on the floor on Monday Night Football with an incredible touchdown catch. The radio call from 49ers broadcaster Greg Papa was epic. The San Francisco 49ers hosted the LA Rams in Santa Clara on Monday with hopes of avenging their 2022 NFC title game loss. To do it, they were also going to need a performance from Deebo Samuel. He did not disappoint. The dynamic wide receiver made the Rams’ defense look absolutely foolish on a 57-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. FORMER Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has revealed Lionel Messi thanked him for a piece of career-changing advice in his early days at the Nou Camp. The pair played together at the LaLiga giants for six years between the Argentine's 2003 debut and Eto'o's 2009 departure for Inter Milan. 2 Samuel Eto'o helped Lionel Messi with 'career-changing' adviceCredit: AP:Associated Press And while many tipped the diminutive, fleet-footed young Messi for greatness from an early stage, Eto'o has revealed that his former team-mate felt indebted to his crucial advice. The 40-year-old told DAZN: "[Messi] confessed to me that, thanks to my advice, which I am not going to reveal, his career had changed. "One day he said: 'Thanks to Samuel, my career changed'. "He had to fix two or three things but he has always had the talent. "I am proud and happy to see that he has written history which has yet to be finished, and it will be very difficult to beat what he has written." It was a poorly kept secret of the early-noughties at La Masia that they...
Associate Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has never been pregnant.Ron Sachs/CNP via Zuma Facts matter: Sign up for the free Mother Jones Daily newsletter. Support our nonprofit reporting. Subscribe to our print magazine. In his draft opinion striking down the Constitutional right to an abortion, Justice Samuel Alito says a lot of things about pregnancy, women, and fetuses. As someone who has recently given birth, it was easy for me to spot several places where he was wrong. If Alito is going to set back the rights of people who can become pregnant by 50 years, he could at least do us the courtesy of getting the science right. Alito Fallacy No. 1: “Quickening” Time We begin with the common law, under which abortion was a crime at least after “quickening”—i.e., the first felt movement of the fetus in the womb, which usually occurs between the 16th and 18th week of pregnancy. As someone who just had a baby, I can tell you that people in early pregnancy Google “when will I feel my baby move?” every damn day and the...
In predictably affirming how the 49ers have no intention of trading All-Pro receiver Deebo Samuel, general manager John Lynch avoided getting into specifics in Monday’s press conference. “I can’t ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo,” Lynch said. “Even though we don’t have a first-round pick, you go through exercises and be through in the process. He’s just too good of a player. Samuel’s saga dominated the discussion of Lynch’s NFL-mandated, pre-draft press conference inside Levi’s Stadium’s auditorium. “By virtue of the way he plays, it’s inspiring,” Lynch added. “That entails leadership. He makes people around him better. He’s a great teammate. We’ve got nothing but love for him and appreciation. You just don’t let guys like that walk.” Lynch wouldn’t reveal Samuel’s discontent but did confirm he’s had discussions with the three-year veteran and was surprised how things have turned. If Samuel wants the 49ers to rush payment on an extension, this week’s draft offers a sweet spot to gauge his value in a potential trade. While Samuel is entering the final year of his rookie contract, the...
Well, they did it again. Fouled another Olympic Games. Soiled another festival of sport. And, in many ways, it could not happen to a nicer chap. Thomas Bach, the IOC president, and Russia deserve each other. He deserves to have another Games, and with it his legacy, tainted. They deserve to have their every achievement marked with the asterisk of suspicion. When Kamila Valieva skates today and on Thursday, a giant cloud of mistrust, a question mark carved in ice, will accompany each graceful move. Is she a cheat or, more pertinently, has she been corrupted at 15 by the Russian system? This is now the biggest talking point of this Games. Valieva may be one of the great talents of this, or any other generation, but she cannot escape the taint of the Russian regime. Kamila Valieva is able to continue at the Winter Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled the Russian should not be provisionally banned for a failed drugs test That Bach has bent over backwards to return Russia to the Olympics, after all...

A Minnesota National Guardsman stationed in Minneapolis during the riots, was just getting started when his life was cut short in a head-on collision in Washington County Thursday. Specialist Samuel Leedom, 20, of Oak Park Heights, was driving north on Manning Avenue in West Lakeland Township about 6:30 p.m., doing deliveries for DoorDash. Samuel Leedom (Courtesy of Army National Guard) According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Leedom, who was driving a Nissan Sentra, crossed over the center lane into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a dump truck near 22nd Street. “My son touched so many people. He’s an amazing boy,” said his mother, Heidi Leedom through tears Monday. She said the news of his death has been like a bad dream from which she can’t wake up. She thought maybe her son was in trouble when a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy pulled up in front of her house Thursday night. “I said, ‘What’s wrong? Is it Sam?’ I remember he said, ‘I’m so sorry to say this, but your son passed away in an accident,'” she said. “I...
Spike Lee’s ambitious new movie, Da 5 Bloods, has come at a time of a great impact, and has been met with critical acclaim. Featuring an all-star cast, it has now emerged that Da 5 Bloods was almost led by even bigger names, with actor and previous Lee collaborator, Giancarlo Esposito revealing that he had originally been set to star in the movie, alongside none other than Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington, and Washington’s real-life son, John David Washington. “It was me and Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington, and Denzel’s son. I just love and adore Spike Lee, and the messages that he created in his films that are so powerful and strong, and also because the cast he was talking to at that time. But it didn’t work out for any of us because the shoot got pushed, and Spike was wanting everyone to be there the whole time overseas when he shot it, and I was still shooting Better Call Saul, and was juggling that with Godfather of Harlem, so it didn’t work out. It was so...
Atlanta cop Devin Brosnan, who is charged with aggravated assault in the deadly shooting of Rayshard Brooks, described the encounter as a “tragic event” and said he looks forward to cooperating with investigators to clear his name, according to a report. The officer appeared along with his attorney Don Samuel on MSNBC on Thursday after he turned himself in and was released on bond, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. “I have full faith in the criminal justice system,” he said on the program. “I’m looking forward to cooperating with any investigators who are interested in having a conversation about what happened that night.” Brosnan also was charged with three counts of violation of oath in the death of the 27-year-old Brooks, whom former cop Garrett Rolfe shot in the back after a struggle in the parking lot of a Wendy’s. Rolfe was charged with felony murder, five counts of aggravated assault, one count of first-degree criminal damage to property and four counts of violation of oath. On Wednesday, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard announced that Brosnan had agreed to...
San Francisco 49ers promising wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a broken foot on Tuesday during a throwing session with teammates in Nashville, Tenn., according to the NFL Network. The NFL Network also reported that he had surgery on Thursday, but he should be able to be on the field within 12-16 weeks, which is enough time to make an impact for the 49ers. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The report stated that he suffered a Jones fracture, which would put a timeline to return to the field “early in the season.” As of right now, it is not a season-ending injury. Samuel, a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, had 57 catches for 802 receiving yards with six total touchdowns in 15 regular-season games. He also had 10 receptions for 127 yards in his three playoff games for the 49ers. Samuel took his thoughts to Twitter when the injury was announced. “10 weeks I’m back better than the deebo you seen before,” Samuel wrote. With Samuel expected to miss some time, the 49ers will obviously turn to...
