A DOLLAR coin in a high circulated grade has sold for thousands of dollars online.  The coin is a part of the Morgan Silver dollar series, which was in mintage mostly from 1874 to 1904. 1The coin was certified by PCGS in AU Details Interestingly, there were also other pieces produced with a 1921 date. The dollar piece in the listing features the 1893 date with an S letter mark on the bottom of the reverse, which stands for the mint location of San Francisco. This date just has a reported mintage of 100,000. “The 1893-S is the rarest of all Morgan dollars in higher grades,” David Bowers, a numismatic author wrote in a description of the coin on Professional Coin Grading Service. AN error penny featuring 16th President Abraham has sold for more than $350 online. The error can be found on the obverse of the Lincoln cent where the mint mark is, which is located under the 1944 year. 1The "D" mark was overpunched over an "S" Many will of course notice that there is “D” mark, which stands for the mint location of Denver.   However, if you take a close look, you’ll notice that there is a mark visible above the “D.” This is said to be an “S” mark. In other words, the Denver mint overpunched its mark over the “S”. “The best way to identify this error is to note the 'D' mintmark stamped on top of a subtle 'S' mint mark,” USA Coin Book wrote.  Most importantly, the coin is quite valuable regardless of the condition. But of course, the higher the grade, the more it’ll be worth. The seller claims that the coin in the listing has been certified by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) in an “AU 58” grade. A GOLD coin that exists in small numbers has sold for more than $2,600 online. The rare coin is $3 piece. These types of coins were only struck by the US Mint from 1854 to 1889. 1Just 650 of these $3 coins are said to have survived So, if you happen to have a $3 coin – odds are it's valuable because it’s been well over a century since one was last minted in the country. The coin in the eBay listing features what is described as an Indian Princess Head, which can be seen on the obverse. The reverse shows the denomination of “3” and the year the coin was minted, which is 1883. Most importantly, the mintage is quite low as only around 900 to 990 of those coins are said to have been minted. Moreover, Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) estimates only 650 have survived in all grades. “This date is one of only three in the series that has an official mintage of less than 1,000 business strikes,” PCGS’ David Akers wrote in a description of the 1883 gold coin. A HALF dollar featuring 35th president John F. Kennedy has sold for more than $300 online. The coin, which was minted in 2008 and has a “P” mintmark, features an error. 1There is a metal shaving that curves and runs through the shield When taking a look at the reverse, you can clearly see a cut starting at the “A” in the word “Half Dollar”. The error curves and makes its way up to the shield.   According to the seller of 2008 half dollar, the piece was struck through a metal shaving. “These can be broken off rim burrs, many of which are produced a split second before the strike by the feeder mechanism,” coin glossary website Error-Ref wrote in a description of the error. It added: “Other metal shavings will have different origins from elsewhere in the press and from earlier stages in the minting process.” When it comes to the Kennedy P 2008 coin in general, it isn’t that valuable. A RARE half cent minted in 1793 has sold for more than $3,300 online. Most interestingly, the coin marks the first year of production of the half cent.   1This was the first year of the half cent it's considered a rare date The design is part of the Liberty Cap series, with this particular coin featuring an image of Liberty looking to the left. Meanwhile, you might be surprised to find out that half cents exist. In mintage from 1793 to 1857, half cents are considered the smallest denomination ever produced by the US Mint. “While this unusual denomination might seem useless today, it was an important part of our monetary system back when working wages were $1 per 10-hour day,” Professional Coin Grading Service president Ron Guth wrote in a description of 1793 Liberty Cap coin.  “The 1793 Half Cent is a scarce date and was one of the very first coins issued by the US Mint.” The half cent in the eBay listing sold for a total of $3,383.33 after attracting 45 bids. A RARE quarter from the 1800s has sold for more than $4,000 online. The quarter, which features a seated Liberty on one side and an eagle on the other, has been minted in low volumes, which makes it rare.   1A total of 56,000 of these coins have been minted In total, 56,000 of the 1860 seated Liberty S coins are said to have been minted. The coin gets some of its rarity from the aftermath and the effects of the US civil war, which drove coins from circulation. “Like the 1859-S quarter dollar, the 1860-S is a rare date that is virtually impossible to find in mint state,” Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) president Ron Gruth wrote in a description of the coin. “As such, it is one of the most important condition-rarities in this series, on par with some of the 1870-1873 Carson City issues and the 1859-S.” Depending on the condition of the coin, it could be worth up to $55,705 if in an “Uncirculated (MS-60)” grade. CHECK anywhere you might store change at home because a rare nickel from 1937 has sold for more than $1,100 online. But most notably, the 1937 coin, which features an Indian head on the obverse, has an error that can be seen on the side where the buffalo is. A RARE Lincoln penny from 1922 has sold for nearly $3,000 online - meaning you would be quite fortunate to have a coin like this one lying around.   If you look closely, you’ll notice there is no mint mark on the penny featuring 16th President Abraham Lincoln. 1There is no mint mark below the year on this Lincoln penny Typically, on Lincoln coins, the mark can be found under the mint year of the coin. According to Jamie Hernandez, price guide editor for Professional Coin Grading 3Service (PCGS), all 1922 pennies should bare a D mint mark but there was “sloppiness in the production process”. “As a result, it is believed that a mint employee obtained an old obverse die and filed it down in order to improve its appearance,” Mr Hernadez said. “But instead, the mint employee ended up filing the D mint mark too much, and in return, created the 1922 No D Lincoln cents.”  The D stands for the first letter of the mint location, which is Denver. You can clearly see that there is an unusual symbol to the left of the “2,” which of course happens to be a “1.”  This is not as noticeable with the “4,” but you can still tell that it's overdated from a close-up view.  Most read in MoneyMORE MONEY Calls to...

A change in eligibility that will affect all different types of families, including those with dependents who are children, young adults, or relatives of older adults. Angela Lang/CNET While this is undoubtedly welcome news for the families who could stand to benefit from an extra $1,400 per dependent whenever the third stimulus check arrives, it does little to clarify the issue of independence for stimulus checks. A $1,400 bonus to the household is bound to make a mark, but...
BUFFALO, Minn. (WCCO) — With single digits and below zero temperatures heading our way, HVAC companies are preparing for some busy days ahead. WCCO’s John Lauritsen visited one of those companies Friday morning and got some tips to keep the furnace up and running efficiently during this cold snap. DeZiel Heating and Air Conditioning in Buffalo is getting ready for a busy stretch of winter. It’s all hands on deck. They are adding extra staff as they anticipate a number of calls regarding furnaces not working properly. When the weather gets to the extremes they say a little problems show up. Dirty filters are a big one. They can cause the furnace to shut down if they aren’t replaced. They also find themselves looking at the exhaust pipes. Steam comes out of those pipes and if it gets too cold for too long over night, ice can build up and seal it off. So when you wake up in the morning there’s no heat. A screwdriver can clear that out. Mike DeZiel also believes in regular maintenance a couple times...

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has spent much of the week before Election Day spreading disinformation about the voting process. On Monday, he continued efforts to discredit mail-in ballots and claimed we "must have a final total by Nov. 3," which Twitter flagged as misleading and blocked users from seeing on their feeds. CNN has previously fact-checked similar comments: this is a misinterpretation of how the system works and an unrealistic expectation for 2020's pandemic-era election. On Tuesday, Trump suggested voters can change their votes, tweeting: "Strongly Trending (Google) since immediately after the second debate is CAN I CHANGE MY VOTE? This refers changing it to me. The answer in most states is YES. Go do it. Most important Election of your life!" Facts First: This is misleading at best. In "most" states, once your ballot has been cast, either in the mail or in person, you cannot change your vote. In response to the President's tweet, CNN reached out to all 50 states about their policies regarding changing one's vote. All but five responded. Of those that did, all...

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — You’ve been hearing a lot about mail-in ballots, but what happens if you request a mail-in ballot and then change your mind? All three states in the tri-state region have different rules. “Stick to your plan. Make your voting plan and stick to it,” said Susan Suinat with U.S. Vote Foundation. “Help everybody, that way you don’t duplicate work.” The upcoming 2020 election is promising to break records in the number of total votes cast and the number of mail-in ballots requested and returned. But if you request a mail-in ballot and then change your mind, what happens next? In Delaware, you can still vote in person, even if you’ve requested a mail-in ballot. But, in New Jersey, if you change your mind, you’ll have to vote by provisional ballot. “You’d be able to vote, it simply would not be counted right away,” Suinat explained. “They need to check things out, investigate them, make sure you haven’t voted otherwise and then they count them as of seven days after the election.” In Pennsylvania, the rules are a...
The Social Security Administration won't announce its next annual cost-of-living adjustment until October, but there is a reliable way to predict the number ahead of time.  The Senior Citizens League is a nonpartisan advocacy group for older Americans and has a history of accurately forecasting the annual change. The group estimates that the Social Security COLA for 2021 could be about 1.3%. That is less than the 1.6% adjustment made for 2020 and one of the lowest increases Social Security has ever had.
