This past Saturday, Adesanya faced longtime rival Pereira in the headlining bout of UFC 281 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York. He went into the outing looking to avenge his two losses to Pereira and add a seventh title defense under his belt. Although Adesanya appeared to be on his way to getting the nod on the judges’ scorecards, Pereira scored a standing TKO finish in the final round to become the new middleweight champion in only his fourth showing under the banner. Pereira now holds a total of three wins over Adesanya; two in kickboxing, including a vicious left hook knockout, and one in mixed martial arts. The Green Bay Packers are 3-6 and trending downward, handing the Detroit Lions their second win of the season on Sunday. And let’s be clear, while the Lions get the tally in the win column, the Packers are responsible. Aaron Rodgers threw three red zone interceptions. Passes were dropped. He drew Leon Edwards and after nearly five rounds, it appeared Usman was on his way to another 170-pound championship win. Peloton told employees Friday it's slashing 784 jobs, increasing equipment prices, closing several retail locations and requiring all non-remote employees to return to the office by Nov. 14. Getty NASCAR has issued major penalties to the No. 34 team. The sanctioning body has once again shown its willingness to bring down the hammer during the Next Gen era. NASCAR has issued L2-Level penalties to the No. 34 team of Front Row Motorsports after Michael McDowell finished sixth at Pocono Raceway. NASCAR issued a press release on July 26 and detailed the punishments. The release said that the No. 34 team’s penalty falls under Sections 14.1 C, D, and Q of the NASCAR Rule Book, as well as Sections 14.5 A and B. These sections cover the vehicle assembly and the modification of a single-source supplied part. NASCAR did not announce which part violated the rule, but mechanic/writer Bozi Tatarevic provided more information. He said that he had heard FRM used filler on a body panel gap, which is more egregious than the tape used on the No. 11 and No. 18 cars of Joe Gibbs Racing at Pocono Raceway. This L2-Level penalty brings about the loss of 100 driver points and 100 owner points. Additionally, NASCAR...
WASHINGTON (AP) — Navy leaders have disciplined more than 20 senior officers and sailors in connection with widespread leadership and other failures that contributed to the July 2020 arson fire that destroyed the USS Bonhomme Richard. The most significant actions were taken against members of the ship’s leadership team, including letters of reprimand and pay cuts for the former commander and executive officer. And Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro issued a letter of censure to retired Vice Adm. Richard Brown, who was the commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet at the time of the fire. The ship was undergoing a two-year, $250 million upgrade pierside in San Diego when the fire broke out. About 115 sailors were on board, and nearly 60 were treated for heat exhaustion, smoke inhalation and minor injuries. The failure to extinguish or contain the fire led to temperatures exceeding 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas, melting sections of the ship into molten metal that flowed into other parts of the ship. A Navy report last year concluded that the massive five-day blaze was preventable and unacceptable,...

New York (CNN Business)Boeing took nearly $4 billion in charges related to problems it had with the 787 Dreamliner, causing losses to soar for the third straight year. The company had already been hit with the problems with the grounding of the 737 Max, which was grounded for 20 months starting in 2019 following two fatal crashes. Demand then plunged for new aircraft because of massive airline losses caused by the pandemic. Boeing has essentially not been able to deliver the widebody 787 jet for a year because of quality control issues. The company said it will have to pay $3.5 billion to compensate customers for the delayed deliveries. SAN JOSE – How much pushback does this Sharks team have? More than they had Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning? It won’t take long to find out. The Sharks were clobbered 7-1 by the Lightning at SAP Center, sleepwalking through most of the first period en route to their most lopsided loss of the season. The Sharks gave up four goals in the first 13 minutes and only offered an occasional response, as they lost for the fourth time in the last five games. “That team exposes you when you don’t compete. That’s it. Simple as that,” Sharks winger Andrew Cogliano said of the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning. “They can beat you when you compete at your highest level. But when you don’t compete, and you’re not even close to their level, it gets embarrassing real fast.” While the Lightning looks fully capable of winning a third straight Cup, the Sharks appear to be light-years away. Prominent critical race theory opponent Christopher Rufo predicted a seismic shift in the country following GOP candidate Glenn Youngkin's victory in the Virginia gubernatorial race.  "This is a political sea change," Rufo told Fox News on Tuesday night. How will the New York Giants supplement the massive loss of Nick Gates on offensive line? Alexander Wilson September 19, 2021 Share on facebook Facebook Share on twitter Twitter Share on reddit Reddit The New York Giants already had problems in the trenches before losing starting center Nick Gates to a fractured lower leg against the Washington Football Team on Thursday evening. Gates, who was shifted over to left guard, was pushed back into quarterback Daniel Jones when a defender landed awkwardly on the back of his leg, sending him to the ground in a heap, experiencing obvious pain. Votes in favor of retaining California Gov. Gavin Newsom outnumbered votes to recall him by nearly two-to-one. On Wednesday, after the GOP effort to recall California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom officially came to an end in a resounding loss, Fox News hosted a roundtable of anti-Newsom activists who claimed they had achieved "success." The recall results were not close. However, "Fox & Friends" invited several guests who were a part of the recall movement to react to the results of the election, and many of them declared successes. "I do think this was a huge success because a small group of people did put some fear into the governor to the point that he actually had to fly out the vice president and the president," Erica Kious, the former owner of a San Francisco hair salon, said, after saying she was "devastated" by the recall...
Hurricane Ida is expected to make landfall in Louisiana close to a Category 5 hurricane sometime Sunday afternoon—on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which killed more than 1,800 people in 2005. The National Weather Service of New Orleans issued a series of warnings on Sunday, including an ominous warning that they “can’t bear to see” the storm on satellite imagery. “We have hard times ahead, but we will all persevere,” the service tweeted. “Take all messages we, public officials and broadcast media are saying SERIOUSLY. Stay tuned for more frequent updates.” Warnings about Ida came as Hurricane Nora skimmed Mexico’s Pacific Coast towards the Gulf of California. Ida is expected to cause “catastrophic” damage, leaving the area where it makes landfall “uninhabitable for months.” Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards warned late Saturday, “This will be one of the strongest storms to hit Louisiana since at least the 1850s. Preparations need to be complete and you need to be where you intend to ride out the storm by tonight.”

Twitter didn’t hold back from Team USA Basketball losing their first match to Team Nigeria in the 2021 pre-Olympics exhibtion. The pre-Olympic Basketball exhibitions are underway, and Team USA has gotten off to the worst start imaginable. The reaction from the United States’ loss to Nigeria feels similar to the 2008 US Team, which was heavily criticized for finishing that Olympics with the Bronze Medal. Accepting anything less than a Gold Medal for Team USA in 2021 would be an utter disappointment. Next: NBA Finals refs are under fire

Jürgen Friedrich, founder of Esprit, and his wife Anke Beck-Friedrich, bought the residence, known as the Astor Suite, for $25.49 million in 2007. A year later, the couple tried to flip the unit for $55 million.  But the stately residence — which has hosted President John F. Screw you all, I'm going home. There are going to be stories still coming out about the daily chaos inside the Trump administration for the next twenty years, and every last one of them will paint a more dire picture than the ones before. Another Axios inside-the-White-House report yet again details the complete breakdown of trust between Dear Incompetent Leader and his own military officials, and it really is something close to amazing that the nation didn't genuinely collapse under Team Bumblef--k. The big news from the piece is that just days after Donald J. Trump got his behind handed to him in the November 2020 election, a furious and/or humiliated Trump responded by ordering, in communications handled by (sigh) his once-body man, a complete military withdrawal from Afghanistan, Iraq, Germany, and all of Africa by the turn of the year. That was the goal. Get out of all those places, completely, and do it before the new guy takes over, and do it so that Donald Trump would look good to his weird and agitated base. It would have required abandoning equipment, evacuating...
Support is surging for a Pennsylvania man who lost everything — including his pet cat — after his home burned down on his birthday. Chuck was left with nothing but the clothes on his back after his Moore Township home burned to the ground while he was out on his birthday, April 30, according to a GoFundMe launched by a friend. Chuck’s pet cat, Smokes, still hasn’t been found, according to fundraiser organizer Robert Stephens, who described the aftermath of the wind-fueled blaze as a “total loss.” “What he was wearing is all he was left with,” Stephens said. More than $2,400 had been raised as of Tuesday afternoon with donations supporting Chuck as he “starts from scratch.” “While I know he may have escaped injury or perhaps death and that is by far what is most important, he still will start from scratch,” Stephens said. “I am hoping we as his friends and/or community can pitch in, even just a little to ease this massive loss.” Click here to view/donate to “Chuck’s Moore Township Fire Relief Fund” on...
Dominick Reyes gives health update after scary knockout from Jiří Procházka. Former title challenger, Dominick Reyes, went down like a sack of potatoes on Saturday night after eating a massive spinning back elbow from Jiří Procházka in the main event of UFC Vegas 25. The knockout could easily be 2021’s Knockout of the Year but after we were all done celebrating the massive moment, and the dust settled, we wondered how Reyes was doing. He fell hard and awkwardly on his neck and for the past few days had been radio silent. Until Monday night when Reyes updated his fans on his health and his future with MMA. #ufc Posted by Dominick "The Devastator" Reyes on Monday, May 3, 2021What might happen to Dominick Reyes following the loss? This marks the fourth straight loss for Reyes, one to then-champion Jon Jones, who many felt he had beat, then a TKO finish at the hands of the current champion, Jan Błachowicz. How the Knicks will supplement the massive loss of Mitchell Robinson By: Alexander Wilson March 31, 2021 ShareTweetFlipRedditThe New York Knicks are still unsure if center Mitchell Robinson will be able to return from a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot this season. After landing awkwardly in the Knicks’ win over the Milwaukee Bucks several days ago, there is no timetable set for Robinson’s return. In fact, there’s a solid chance he misses the remainder of the 2020-21 season, which would significantly hurt the starting five and force the team to supplement with veterans. Before Mitchell’s injury, he was averaging 8.3 points and a career-high 8.1 total rebounds, making his way back from a fractured hand injury. Clearly, this is not Robinson’s year, but luckily the Knicks have a few solid pieces to supplement his loss. However, Robinson has one more year on his deal, a club option for the 2021 season, and it seems as if the Knicks will ride out the remainder of his rookie contract before considering...

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville has revealed the club's FA Cup exit has left him 'demoralised' as he hit out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for rotating the team. The Red Devils crashed out at the quarter-final stage after they were beaten 3-1 by Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. 2Gary Neville has spoke of his disappointment at Manchester United crashing out of the FA CupCredit: PA Kelechi Iheanacho opened the scoring as he latched onto a poor pass from Fred, before Mason Greenwood fired the visitors back on level terms before the break. Youri Tielemans then put the Foxes back in front with a low strike into the bottom left corner, with Iheanacho grabbing his second of the game with a header in the 78th minute. Boss Solskjaer made five changes from the side that beat AC Milan 1-0 at the San Siro on Thursday, and Neville cannot understand why rotate for such an important game. Speaking on his podcast with Sky Sports, he said: "It had been a good week. Not surprising that they go to Milan...
Alaska's melting glaciers may have set the stage for a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in 1958 that triggered a massive avalanche of about 90 million tons of rock down into the narrow inlet of Lituya Bay. A new study from the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute found ice loss has influenced the timing and location of earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 or greater in the area during the past century.   Alaska is home to some of the largest glaciers in the world that weigh thousands of pounds that sink the land beneath. When these giant glaciers start to melt, the once sunken land quickly rebounds and tectonic plates grind pass each other that results in a seismic event. Many of Rust’s EU players may have unexpectedly lost their servers this morning. According to developer Facepunch Studios, a fire at a datacenter caused the loss of 25 servers, and the data from those servers has been lost. The fire occurred at the OVH Datacenter in Strasbourg, Germany. It completely destroyed one of the OVH buildings and damaged another. While the fire was large enough to take the entire four-building OVH Datacenter offline, everyone was safely evacuated, and the blaze was brought under control by firefighters. The datacenter will remain largely offline until next week. According to an update from Facepunch posted after the fires were under control, “We’ve confirmed a total loss of the affected EU servers during the OVH data centre fire. We’re now exploring replacing the affected servers. Data will not be restored.” Rust does have regular server wipes that happen every month, which slightly mitigates how much data could be lost from each server. In the latest update, Facepunch confirmed that many of the game’s EU servers are coming back online without the...

United Airlines’ stock price plunged Thursday after the coronavirus pandemic drove the carrier to its fourth consecutive quarterly loss. United shares dropped as much as 6.1 percent to $42.41 following the company’s brutal Wednesday earnings report, which showed adjusted net losses of $2.1 billion for the final three months of 2020 and $7.7 billion for the entire year. The fourth-quarter loss of $7 per share came in worse than Wall Street analysts’ expectations for losses of $6.60 a share. Calling the COVID-19 pandemic “the most disruptive crisis in aviation history,” Chicago-based United said it burned through an average of $33 million in cash a day during the October-to-December quarter even as it worked to shore up its finances. The airline said it’s treating 2021 as “a transition year that’s focused on preparing for a recovery.” It has developed plans to slash some $2 billion in annual costs and restarted heavy maintenance on its planes, work that will prove important once demand for travel recovers. But United says the transitional year will get off to a rocky start — it...
