A woman know as 'Baby Holly' has been reunited with her biological grandmother, 40 years after her parents were murdered in the woods. Holly Marie Clouse, 42, is the daughter of Harold Dean Clouse and Tina Gail Linn, a married teenage couple who disappeared in 1980 after relocating from Florida to Texas when Holly was not yet one. After her parents' murder, Holly was abducted by a group of women who wore white robes and traveled as a religious group. They dropped her off unharmed at a church in Arizona and she was raised happily by an adoptive family. It was only earlier this year that Holly discovered her birth parents had been brutally murdered. In an emotional reunion with the family she never knew she had, Holly hugged her paternal grandmother - Donna Casasanta, 80 - and said, 'I love you. Thank you for all your prayers.' Tony Blair today recalled how the Queen reminded him of her long reign after he became prime minister - by pointing out she met with Winston Churchill before the former Labour leader was born. Mr Blair, who was in Downing Street for a decade from 1997, spoke to US television about the monarch, including his 'surprise' at her death. He revealed she had been 'warm and humorous' when they had last met, but he said she had been physically frail and ''a problem with her leg'. Talking to NBC's Today show, he said: 'She was on great form. She had a problem with her leg, physically, and she was obviously frail - she was 96. 'But in terms of how she was she was in amazing form. She was warm and humorous. She kept a very keen and sharp eye on the country and how it was changing and what its people thought right up until the end.' Discussing their first meeting after he won his landslide 1997 election victory, he added: 'When I was appointed PM I remember she said...
A host of household names have recalled their childhood ambitions before rising to stardom in later life and shared snaps of their younger selves. As part of a new Guide Dogs campaign, celebrities divulged the dreams they had as children alongside the snaps and asked readers to put a name to the face. One Oscar-winning actress admitted she hoped to be a nurse when she grew up, while a well known English broadcaster confessed that's all he's ever wanted to be. A lexicographer who has hit the headlines in recent days admitted she had two different dreams, neither of which were linked to landing a role on Countdown. The campaign comes following research that found 75 per cent of visually impaired adults are currently out of work. The Every Dream Counts initiative looks at what  visually challenged children aspire to do, with hopes that they will be able to fulfil their dreams. The sight loss charity has released several photos of the celebrities as young children in the hopes of raising awareness -  so how many can you name? Hidden...
If you have a famous last name, or notable parents, it is both a blessing and a burden. It is a burden because everyone assumes every single thing in your life is handed to you. You are not extended ownership or agency over your life's accomplishments (or failures for that matter) because everything is always credited to your privileged upbringing - despite the fact that my father hasn't been living for over three years. It is also a favorite pastime of the lowest common denominator on the internet to impersonate me by screaming 'my father' over and over again. It is hurtful, but as the old saying goes, there's no crying in baseball. MCCAIN: 'Kim is an incredibly smart woman, I would never say different. But she should really know better' More obviously, being born into privilege is a blessing. Doors are opened for you, opportunities are handed to you, and overall more attention is given to you as you start your career (particularly if it is the same career path as your parents). If you don't believe me feel...

It is the latest online conspiracy theory regarding Astroworld, after videos on social media wildly claimed what happened was actually a large-scale "satanic blood sacrifice." During the festival in November 5 this year, 10 people died and hundreds were injured while Travis was performing. Anthony Murdaugh, 22, was facing charges in connection with a fatal boating crash in 2019 before he was shot dead in June  Someone is screaming at Paul Murdaugh, 'Paul, you smiling like it's f******g funny! My f*****g girlfriend is gone,' in newly released audio of the moments right after the fatal 2019 crash in South Carolina. The audio also appears to confirm that Murdaugh was drunk and driving the boat the night it smashed into Archer's Creek Bridge in Beaufort County. There were six friends onboard, but Mallory Beach, 19, died.  Murdaugh, 22, had a fall from grace like few others. He went from heir to a prominent South Carolina legal dynasty that ruled the state's courts for generations to facing three felony charges in connection with the fatal 2019 boating wreck.  But he never went to trial because he and his mother Margaret, 52, were shot dead at the family hunting lodge in Islandton, South Carolina, on June 7 before proceedings began. There are no suspects in the double murder.  The audio, which was posted on YouTube by...

On Wednesday, a public transit worker allegedly shot eight people to death and then himself in a rail yard in San Jose, California. The suspect, 57-year-old Sam James Cassidy, worked for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, which serves San Jose and Silicon Valley. During Fox News’s live coverage of massacre, former NYPD detective Pat Brosnan made an utterly bizarre statement in which he claimed that getting the Covid-19 vaccine will somehow embolden would-be mass shooters. Anchor Harris Faulkner began by asking Brosnan about the close proximity of a sheriff’s office next door to the rail yard and asked him how that might have made a difference in terms of the speed and nature of the police’s response to the shooting. Brosnan gave a weird and barely intelligible response in which he sarcastically referenced “the summer of love 2020,” an allusion to the mass protests that happened across the country in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. Brosnan seemed to argued that supposedly lax law enforcement has sent a message to potential mass...

Harry and Meghan told palace bosses 'you can’t stop us from doing what we want' in clashes before leaving the Royal family, it has been claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex 'called the shots' and specifically instructed press officers on what information they felt should be made public, according to reports.  The claims come despite Harry telling Oprah in the couple's bombshell interview that no plans were made before Megxit was announced last January. It also emerged last night that the pair were in talks with a £1.3billion-backed US company a year before they stepped down as senior royals. Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, are said to have had multiple meetings with Quibi, a now-defunct video streaming service, from early 2019 until after they quit as working royals last January. Prince Harry returned from the landmark Sandringham summit to meet executives from the American company in London, according to the Daily Telegraph. A deal for him to provide content on the platform reportedly reached advanced stages but ultimately fell through as the app failed to take off, according to the...

When Uché Blackstock, an urgent-care physician and founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity, saw initial reports from China regarding characteristics of people who are at higher risk for contracting coronavirus she knew it would spell trouble for fellow members of the Black community. “Black communities were essentially already sick before coronavirus,” Blackstock told MarketWatch. “They carry the highest burden of chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, even obesity.” In addition, health-care institutions in predominantly black neighborhoods are often under-funded and provide lower quality care than in other neighborhoods, she said. Related: How America perfected the ‘art of demonizing Black men’ The nightmare Blackstock foresaw has become an unfortunate reality. Nearly one-third of Black Americans have lost someone they know due to coronavirus, compared to 13% across all populations. according to a recent Ipsos/Washington Post poll. Additionally, Black COVID-19 patients have 2.7 times the odds of being admitted to the hospital compared to non-Hispanic white patients. Blackstock’s mother, Dale Gloria Blackstock, attended Harvard Medical School, where she and her sister, Oni, later attended as the first Black mother-daughter...
On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first two people to summit Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. But... what if they weren’t?  It’s not just a historical hypothetical, but one of climbing lore’s greatest mysteries. Now, it’s a search-and-rescue mission, too, and the subject of the new National Geographic special, Lost on Everest, premiering Tuesday.  In June of 1924, explorers Andrew “Sandy” Irvine and George Leigh Mallory disappeared during an attempt to be the first pair to summit Everest. They were last spotted 800 vertical feet from the top, before never being seen nor heard from again.  As the decades passed, Everest experts began to wonder if maybe the pair actually had reached their goal and been the first to summit, armed with scattered eyewitness accounts of what might be their bodies lying frozen in the tundra and carefully plotted maps and photographs of where they were likely to have fallen to their deaths.  More, it was known that they carried a Kodak camera with them on their expedition. If...
"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin suggested that perhaps the removal of statues beyond Confederate figures should be considered since "revisionist history" inaccurately taught Americans the reality of our nation's founders. Statues of Confederate leaders have been defaced and removed in recent weeks by rioters following the death of George Floyd, but other statues were also not spared like one of George Washington in Portland, one Ulysses S. Grant in San Francisco and the announcement of the removal of Theodore Roosevelt in front of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. On Monday, Hostin expressed that the "problem" amid the statue debate begins in the classroom. "What we have been taught, what you have been taught, Joy, what I was taught, what Whoopi was taught, probably what Meghan was taught in our schools was revisionist history," Hostin said. "We weren't taught the real history. We were taught, you know, that George Washington freed his slaves. He wrote that in his will but he didn't free his slaves. He actually spent the last year of his life like relentlessly...
Over the past week, thousands of people have filled the streets of downtown Denver, where brass bands are blasting their music, drummers are rat-a-tat-tatting, chants are erupting, and all the energy of the best concerts is being funneled into a mass demonstration against police violence. "Here in Denver — where we’ve witnessed law enforcement killings of people like Jessie Hernandez, Michael Marshall, Marvin Booker and countless more, where the city has paid out millions in settlements with the families of the dead — the streets have rarely been this full for so long," Kyle Harris wrote after a night at the protests. "Where were the thousands we see today after those victims of killer cops died: Red Rocks? The Pepsi Center? Broncos Stadium? A multiplex?" But his piece expanding on that question just raised more questions. Asks Marcos:  What kind of out-of-touch, privileged, elitist nonsense is this? Responds Mark: There is some truth to this. That's why brutal professional sport spectating and organized school athletics and playgrounds and recreation centers and gyms and fairs ands concerts and...
New York (CNN Business)"America now browses with browsers, window shopping with Windows," CNN reported in 1998 about retail giants like Macy's, JCPenney and Borders bookstore creating websites to sell their goods to customers. At the time, selling clothing and books on the web was a novelty. Brick-and-mortar retailers saw the web as an opportunity to reach tech-savvy customers in a new way and decided to test it out. Amazon was four years old, having launched in Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie's garage in Seattle as an online bookseller."Did you know there were 100 types and styles of Levi's and Docker's?" CNN reported at the time. "On screen, mix-and-match guidance for the style-impared web surfer."Twenty-two years later, online shopping has transformed the retail industry. Amazon (AMZN) is arguably the most powerful company in America, while powerhouse chains that struggled to make the transition online like JCPenney (JCP) and Sears have plunged into bankruptcy in recent years. And Borders? Amazon drove it out of business. This incredibly popular store is one of the hardest to socially distance inAlthough e-commerce still only represents around...
