Paul said: "I see a guy who's underestimating me, I see a guy who is taking this as a joke and I see a guy who said, 'I have to take a s***' during the face-off. "This is the last 24 hours we will all have to hear Ben Askren. This...
Having won their Super Bowl LV, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their second-ever Lombardi Trophy last season. The franchise, which last won the coveted prize back in 2003, rejoiced after a barren run of over a decade. Now, with ambitions to run it back, the franchise will surely have a tough task ahead in 2021. As we’ve seen, winning a Super Bowl is one thing, but defending the crown is a whole different ball-game altogether. The last team to achieve the feat were the New England Patriots back in 2005 when they won Super Bowl XXXVIII and successfully defended their title by winning Super Bowl XXXIX.  The Buccaneers tried to run it back in 2003 as well. Much like the side of today, the franchise decided to retain most of its starting players to stick to the winning formula.  This though didn’t quite work out as the franchise not only failed to make the Super Bowl but Playoffs altogether. Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians is well aware of this.  And he believes he knows what to do...
Georges St. Pierre. Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images Conor McGregor needs to switch things up to get back to the top of MMA. That's according to Georges St. Pierre, who said he needs a trainer to take charge of his camps. "He needs not to be the boss of his training camp," UFC legend St. Pierre said. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Conor McGregor must leave his comfort zone if he's to return to the top of UFC, Georges St. Pierre said. St. Pierre is one of the most celebrated champions to have competed in mixed martial arts, and enjoyed a career that spanned over a decade, beating B.J. Penn 11 years before his last fight — a submission win over Michael Bisping in 2017. McGregor is arguably the UFC's most famous competitor as the Irishman took the MMA world by storm when he knocked Jose Aldo out to win the lightweight title in 2015, two years after his UFC debut. The striker became a simultaneous two-weight UFC champion in 2016 but...

Conor McGregor is making his much-anticipated return to the UFC Octagon this weekend. He will headline UFC 257 opposite old rival, Dustin Poirier, in a match that will have major implications for the UFC lightweight championship. Conor had to refocus himself and his game to not be distracted like he was for Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. However, COVID lockdowns happened and made that an easier task. Conor would go off to Portugal for his training camp for the Poirier fight and has described the leaps he has made since to Barstool Sports . “After the Cowboy fight, I put in a serious stint of training. When this first lockdown came about, I was boxed-off, training very hard, and I was like. I actually couldn’t believe I got to another level so quick regarding fitness and everything else, I was like, this is perfect. And I just kept it going. I kept my training up, I got to Portugal, and we have been sharpening the skills. This my night. On Sat-Sunday morning, Saturday night for US viewers. This is my...

But it will be the first fight at lightweight since his 2018 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor looks supremely confident ahead of the upcoming clash. The two men have squared off before at UFC 178, as the Irishman knocked out the Louisiana native within 2 minutes. Despite that, ‘The Notorious’ has left no stones unturned in preparation despite having a familiar opponent in front of him. Is That AOC Among Us? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Playing the Popular Game to Encourage Voting 13 Things That Become Fire Hazards Without Proper Cleaning Forged by his father, Khabib Nurmagomedovs champion mentality endures There have been many great fighters through the years who were trained by their fathers. The father would take the fighter as a young boy and develop him into a dominant force. A lot of times, though, it would take someone else to take the fighter from the precipice of greatness to that next level. It happened with Roy Jones Jr. and his father, Roy Jones Sr. Shane Mosley split with his father, Jack Mosley. Floyd Mayweather Jr. had his moments with his father, Floyd Sr.  It’s difficult for the father because when the fighter hits a certain level of success, the dynamic in their relationship changes. The fighter gets rich and famous, is usually more emotionally mature, and naturally wants to plot his own course.  It’s hard for a lot of fathers to accept being the second fiddle and stepping aside after they moved their...

He had previously been arrested on May 31 after he allegedly drove his truck loaded with weapons into a crowd of peaceful demonstrators gathered in Pasadena.  Hung, who comes from a wealthy Californian family, had been on the lookout for BLM protesters to intentionally target with his truck, the federal complaint says.  According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court, Hung drove his white Dodge Ram adorned with flags associated with far-right extremist groups at the crowd of about 150 protesters.  Prosecutors said that Hung's truck bore...
Getty Las Vegas Raiders defensive line. There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding the idea the Las Vegas Raiders are planning on going after Yannick Ngakoue or Jadeveon Clowney. While both players are great and would help the team’s defense, they may not need help. Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby have high expectations heading into the season but there could be a 2018 draft pick who still makes an impact. Multiple reports have been coming out of training camp that Arden Key is looking really good. Raiders insider for Sports Illustrated Hondo Carpenter had some very strong praise for the defensive end. “Arden Key is playing out of his mind,” Carpenter wrote last week. “He is flourishing under Rod Marinelli. He listens, gives 100% effort, and doesn’t repeat mistakes. He is playing like a starter. Will he? Who knows, but he is playing with confidence and looks agile, hostile, and mobile.” Key has always been a bit of an unknown quantity for the Raiders. He was a dominant pass rusher during his second year at LSU and it...
Aleksandar Rakic spoke to FanSided prior to his UFC Vegas 8 main event against Anthony Smith. Aleksandar Rakić is a rising star in the UFC light heavyweight division. This coming Saturday night he will be stepping into the Octagon against a former title challenger Anthony Smith. The road to this main event was paved with hard work in a tough training camp that featured a legend of the sport. Like many fighters training this time around was altered to compensate for the global pandemic, however, Rakić and his team made the most of the last few weeks. “My training camp, this one was my hardest one, and the most quality,” Rakić told FanSided. “I did my training camp at American Top Team in Zagreb, Croatia. Me and my whole team went there and another coach came from Sweden, so it was me and four coaches, and many sparring partners and we did a hell of a camp. I’ve been through hell these last two months. I’m ready to go.” During his time in Croatia, Rakić trained with childhood idol, Mirko Cro Cop Filipović“Cro Cop...
Jerick McKinnon’s mindset for this season’s comeback is not what you might expect, not after he’s collected $15.5 million the past two years before even playing a snap for the 49ers. “I work like I’m broke,” McKinnon said. “It’s hard to stop working.” His career came to a sudden stop a week before the 2018 opener, when his right knee gave out on him and consequently turned Kyle Shanahan’s offense sideways. San Francisco 49ers’ Jerick McKinnon (28) catches a ball during training camp at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019. (Randy Vazquez/Bay Area News Group)  Last August, McKinnon first comeback attempt came to a sudden stop. A follow-up procedure was required for his reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament. His 2019 season was over before it started, and it ended with him watching the 49ers reach the Super Bowl. This August, look out for No. 28. He has a spring in his step. He has a vocal cheering section: all the 49ers. But you could indeed say he is “broke” in terms of on-field equity, and that...
New York Giants: Andrew Thomas entering training camp with a big question mark over his head By: Alexander Wilson July 28, 2020 Follow ESM On Social Facebook Twitter Youtube Flipboard Instagram ShareTweet0 SharesThe New York Giants signed all of their draft picks on Monday afternoon, finalizing a major accomplishment ahead of the start of training camp. First-round pick, Andrew Thomas, agreed to a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth $32.345 million. The contract includes a $21.1 million signing bonus. With the Giants adding Thomas, who was a three-year starter with Georgia and played 1075 pass-blocking snaps, according to Anthony Rivardo of Empire Sports Media, they are looking to cement him at one of the tackle spots. Reports have indicated that the Giants are considering him at right tackle to start his NFL career. This isn’t abnormal considering Nate Solder followed the same path back in 2011 with the New England Patriots. It can oftentimes be an excellent developmental move, allowing players with upside to have a transitional effect if need be. That...
TAMPA, FL - OCTOBER 5: Quarterback Tom Brady Tom Brady has arrived to his first training camp with the Buccaneers. Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady arrived at training camp on Monday wearing a mask, kicking off his first season in Tampa Bay under irregular circumstances. While the image of Brady as a Buccaneer is already jarring, his arrival to camp in a mask is representative of the new reality that the league faces in 2020. However, Bucs fans have to be thrilled by the sight of their MVP quarterback arriving at team facilities for football activities. With an already high-powered offense adding Brady at the helm, Tampa enters 2020 with high expectations. Brady is in the building
Raheem Mostert will report to 49ers camp Tuesday with a new deal, less than three weeks after his agent went public with a trade request. “Happy we got things worked out and looking forward to him having another great season there,” Mostert’s agent, Brett Tessler, tweeted Monday. “Thanks to the organization for taking care of him.” Tessler’s previous tweet, on July 8, expressed frustration at the 49ers for “months of unproductive talks” about “fairly adjusting” Mostert’s contract after his breakout season. Financial details of Mostert’s restructured deal were not immediately available. He was slated to earn $2.575 million in base salary this year and $2.875 million next year. Mostert signed a three-year deal last year based mainly off his special-teams prowess, then he emerged as the 49ers’ most explosive running back during last season’s Super Bowl campaign. Mostert did not start any game last season but ran for a team-high 772 yards, then set a 49ers record with 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns in their NFC Championship Game win. The 49ers’ backfield is also stocked with Tevin Coleman, whose...
Getty Mike Zimmer said he "totally" expects Dalvin Cook to report to training camp on Tuesday. The talk of the Minnesota Vikings offseason has been Dalvin Cook’s potential hold out from training camp. Coach Mike Zimmer just put the gossip to rest. Zimmer said in a press conference that he “totally” expects Cook to report to training camp on Tuesday with the rest of the Vikings veterans, adding that Cook had assured him personally. Cook held out of the final two weeks of virtual meetings after ESPN reported that he would not participate in any team-related activities until he receives a “reasonable” new deal. The fourth-year running back totaled the seventh-most yards from scrimmage (1,654) and the second-highest yards per game (118.1) last season. Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak said he was not concerned if Cook missed time beyond the virtual offseason. “Dalvin Cook is very bright,” Kubiak said in a press conference in June. “He has as good a grasp (as anyone) on what we do and how we go about it. Dalvin could teach a class...
