SAN JOSE — Three months after a mass shooting shut down all VTA trains, limited light rail service will resume Sunday morning, just in time to take passengers to the 49ers-Raiders preseason game at Levi’s Stadium. Trains will run every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. along the Orange Line that runs from Mountain View to Alum Rock, including the Milpitas Bart Station and the Great America stop near Levi’s. Kickoff time for the 49ers-Raiders game is 1 p.m. Until full operations are resumed, buses will continue to fill the gap, running every hour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. along North First Street between Paseo de San Antonio and Baypointe. MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Amazon founder and Palmetto Senior High School alumni Jeff Bezos made history after successfully launching into space. After the flight, Bezos said it was just the beginning for private human space travel. READ MORE: Search On For Gunman After Woman Shot Near Exposition Park Floating on cloud nine more than 65 miles above Earth, the Blue Origins for civilian astronauts tossed ping pong balls and Skittles. For Bezos, it was the microgravity dream he first imagined as a five-year-old watching the Apollo 11 moon landing 52 years to the day. Blue Origin’s rocket speed peaked at three times the speed of sound. Less than three minutes into the flight, the rocket and New Shepard capsule separated. For one of the most improbable space crews ever instant weightlessness lasting several minutes. “It felt so normal and natural, almost like we were humans were evolved to be in zero G, which of course is impossible, but it felt that way,” said Jeff Bezos’ brother Mark who was on the flight. A family embraces in the Rio Grande during the Hugs Not Walls fre event last month. Hundreds of families who live on opposite sides of the southern border got to embrace last month—but for just a few precious moments. Roughly 200 families reunited at the Rio Grande as part of the annual Hugs Not Walls day, when officials briefly allow families “from both sides of the river with no legal means to reunite to reconnect for a brief embrace in the middle of the Rio Grande,” El Paso Matters reported. Families are allotted just three minutes before organizers call time for the next families to embace. For people like Maria Aldama, it was the first time she’d hugged her mom in two decades. She drove 19 hours for the event. Aldama told El Paso Matters that “[t]ime hasn’t changed her. I see her the same way.” The drive was worth it, she said. “It doesn’t matter that I traveled 19 hours for three minutes.” Last month’s Hugs Not Walls day marked its eighth year, and organizers said in a statement received by Daily...
There are many factors to blame for the Brooklyn Nets’ second-round playoff exit, but James Harden should not be one of them. Despite having three of the best players in the league, the Nets fell short on their Finals-or-bust expectations this season. That being said, it shouldn’t be looked at as a complete failure given the tough injury luck the Nets ran into this postseason. Kyrie Irving missed the final three games of the series against the Bucks and James Harden just never looked like himself. Harden played just one minute of Game 1 against the Bucks before being removed with a hamstring injury. It was later ruled as a Grade 2 strain, and Harden would sit the next three games before returning for Game 5 in a tied series. Harden probably wasn’t practicing due to the injury, and we saw the rust and difficulty he had finding any rhythm on the floor. He shot just 1-for-10 from the field and finished with five points in 46 minutes. The Nets still won thanks to Durant’s 49-point triple-double performance. Statistically, Harden...

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined to shoot 20-for-50 from the floor, and the Nets only generated 85.6 points per 100 possessions in the 86-83 loss on Thursday. Avril Lavigne Says She Had an Immediate Connection with Boyfriend Mod Sun Alphabet Jumps After Beat on Sales, New $50 Billion Buyback By Nick Whalen, RotoWire Special to Yahoo Sports It’s Week 19 of the NBA season, which — for some, at least — means you’re in the thick of the fantasy basketball postseason. From rampant postponements and COVID-related absences early on to an uptick in rest and unpredictable rotations more recently, fantasy managers have been dealt a difficult hand this season. If you’re still alive in your league, hats off to you. You’ve weathered the storm in what will likely go down as one of the strangest and most challenging fantasy seasons in history. With exactly 20 days remaining in the regular season, there’s still plenty to be decided, as the playoff picture in both conferences is far from solidified. In this week’s trip around the league, we’ll take a rapid-fire approach and touch on some key players returning from injury, a superstar slumping at the wrong time, and all of the other top headlines in the world...
Rapper Sada Baby used DMXs hospitalization to broadcast ill will towards Lil Nas X Historic railroad town for sale with cabins, tipis and a general store By Nick Whalen, RotoWire Special to Yahoo Sports Moving into Week 16, the majority of the league has played roughly 50 games, meaning by the end of the week we’ll be just about 75 percent of the way through the 2020-21 season. While the standings in both conferences are beginning to coalesce, there’s still plenty to be decided in both fantasy and reality. Injuries continue to be the primary factor shaping the fantasy landscape, with big names like Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Zion Williamson, Domantas Sabonis, and Kristaps Porzingis all missing time of late. The defending-champion Los Angeles Lakers are still without both LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while the Nets — who may have lost James Harden to a hamstring aggravation Monday night — eagerly await the return of Kevin Durant. Meanwhile, bottom-feeders like Orlando, Houston, and Oklahoma City seemingly have half of their rosters listed on the injury report on a...

After struggling to find a spot in the rotation for the Utah Jazz, the 27-year-old wing was cut on Feb. 24 before his contract-guarantee date. While he is not someone who was playing a lot of minutes earlier this season, his skills as a defensive disruptor make him an ideal fit for a championship hopeful. Since trading for James Harden, Brookyln’s defensive rating (117.6) ranks second-worst in the Eastern Conference. That’s why Harrison, a player known for his defensive versatility, would make a lot of sense for the Nets. While he is 6-foot-4, he can guard one-through-three with...
First impressions are the most lasting, so the proverb goes — and scientists have found that mere minutes may be all the time you have to leave a favourable one. Researchers from Canada invited 372 volunteers to take part in speed dating events, with the daters rating each other's personalities after each three-minute session. The team found that, generally, people could get an accurate picture of their date within that time — but that those who felt greater well-being were easier to read. However, the researchers are not sure whether people who are happier in life are more authentic, or whether being understood leads to a sense of satisfaction. Previous work found people can quickly form accurate impressions of strangers in platonic settings, like when striking up conversation with a new classmate. However, the team wanted to see if this was still possible in higher-stakes situations like first dates, where impressions are key for deciding whether to pursue romance. They have come to the conclusion that it is, although the task may be harder than in a more casual social setting. ...

By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — Looking for a silver lining from Wednesday night’s Celtics loss to the 76ers? Look no further than Kemba Walker’s first half in Philly. In his second game back for Boston, Walker looked a lot more like the max player that Boston signed two summers ago. Or, at least he did for one half. And that is a reality that we’re going to have to live with while the 30-year-old works his way back. Walker is still on a minutes restriction as he returns from the lingering knee issue that kept him from being his usual self during the NBA’s bubble action in Orlando, and that led to some odd rotational issues for the Celtics in the second half of their 117-109 defeat. But Kemba was absolutely cooking in the first half, scoring 17 points off 5-for-8 shooting in just 12 minutes of action. The Celtics took a three-point lead to the locker room thanks in large part to Walker’s output. The rust that Walker showed in his 3-for-13 debut against the Knicks...
A TENNESSEE man has been charged after allegedly killing a baby by throwing her into a TV and shaking her for three minutes, court docs show. Seth Jones, 29, said he was "frustrated" with the six-month-old child when he allegedly "slung" her "away from his body" against a television stand at a home in the town of Soddy-Daisy, the court papers state. 1Seth Jones allegedly hurled the baby into the TV set at a home in Tennessee last yearCredit: HAMILTON COUNTY According to court records, Jones admitted the offence to officers after initially saying the six-month-old fell off the couch while he was making her milk formula. The affidavit goes on to say that the Tennessee man "spun around in frustration which slung [the child] away from his body" resulting in the baby hitting the TV stand. On September 21, police were called to the hospital where the little girl was being treated for "suspicious head injuries," WFTV reports. NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM/CNN) – Increased sitting became a reality for many during the pandemic. Activity levels plummeted as the ‘new normal’ included Zoom meetings, Netflix binges and virtual cocktail hours. There are ample studies citing the health risks brought on by prolonged sitting. But there is good news! A new study found that despite all that sedentary time, with as little as 11 minutes of movement a day, you can increase your life span. You might be wondering about the hour-per-day measurement that you’ve been hearing about for years. It’s true; past studies, including a popular study from 2016, had originally put the daily exercise target at 60 to 75 minutes for mortality benefits. However, that study was based on self-reported data, which this latest study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, found to be flawed due to people misremembering their actual activity levels. Taking a more objective approach, scientists at the Norwegian School of Sports Medicine based their research on the use of activity monitors to track exercise versus sedentary time. The results showed that participants who...

"Fox News Sunday" anchor Chris Wallace saw the vice presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris as a draw, but chastised both candidates for "ducking" various questions from moderator Susan Page throughout the night. Wallace, who moderated the first debate between President Trump and Joe Biden last week, noted that Harris "ducked the question about [abortion] restrictions or lack of restrictions in California, [but] Mike Pence did the exact same with restrictions in Indiana. "I thought her worst refusal to answer ... was on the packing of the [Supreme] Court," Wallace went on, "but I thought Pence had an equally egregious refusal to answer when he was asked what would you do about protecting people with preexisting conditions and he absolutely refused to even discuss the issue." Wallace concluded that both candidates had a "pretty good night," citing Harris' health care-related attacks on the Trump administration as her strongest moment while Pence was most effective on the "left-wing agenda" that a Biden administration would pursue. A disturbing video has shown New York firefighters dragging three bloodied burns victims into the lobby of a Brooklyn building and leaving them lying there without treatment for several minutes.   FDNY firefighters pulled Joshua Scurry, 25, his 53-year-old mother, Tawanna Scurry, and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Tiffany Jemmott from a burning apartment in Crown Heights on July 22.  Shocking surveillance footage from inside the apartment block shows the two women were left on the wet floor of the lobby for several minutes without medical treatment as firefighters repeatedly step over their lifeless bodies, while the man was dragged along the floor out of the building.  Former firefighters have slammed the lack of urgency from the rescue team in getting the victims much-needed emergency care, as Tawanna continues to fight for her life in ICU.  However, the FDNY chief has defended his team's actions, crediting them with 'saving their lives' and insisting all protocol was followed.  A disturbing video has shown New York firefighters dragging three bloodied burns victims into the lobby of a Brooklyn building and leaving them lying there without...

Serie A Portugal, facing a new challenge: to win back the trophy awarded by the ESM The Golden Boot seemed determined, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s final rush after the pandemic break He is making the Portuguese dream with his fifth Golden Boot. That yes, it will not be easy: he needs five goals in four games -the ones that Juve has left in Serie A- to be able to overcome the 34 goals with which Lewandowski, current leader of the classification of the Boot, said goodbye in the Bundesliga. CR7 could tie Lewy if he scored only four, but it won’t be enough to take the boot. For the first time, and as a novelty this year, the ESM (European Sport Media), organization that delivers the trophy, with MARCA as its Spanish representative, has introduced this novelty: there will no longer be two winners of the Boot ex aequo, but rather, with equal goals and points scored, the winner will be the one who has needed the fewest minutes to reach that amount. In the case at hand,...
Photo by Sam Wasson/Getty Images The league plans to shave eight minutes off the first of three exhibition games for each team in advance of the regular season restart. Wednesday, July 22, will mark the first time we’ve had official NBA basketball in 133 days. All 22 teams have already been in the Orlando bubble for 11 days, so scrimmaging players other than themselves will be a nice change of pace. But it won’t be without a little twist. The league plans to perform some of the exhibition games women’s basketball style – four 10-minute quarters. Two minutes will be shaved off each period and eight minutes overall. This will only occur for the first of three games for each team. The last two scrimmages will consist of the traditional, 12-minute quarters format. The two primary reasons are for players to slowly acclimate back into professional basketball shape and some teams won’t have full rosters for exhibition play. “You have to fast-track so much before you get to that eight-game regular season,” Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra told Sports Illustrated...
